This book started out really good, but the ending was so dragged out. The second half of the book made me feel like I was reading some book about the American frontier. The only thing good about this book is probably the characters. They felt very developed and very likable.

This book popped up on my Facebook a couple weeks ago. I've been a fan of Richelle for quite a while and had hopes for his new series. This book blew my expectations out of the water! It's way more than I hoped and I can't wait for the second book!

Coming from a known author with a plethora of books under her wing I expected a descent story. This was not even close. I trudged through the run of the mill plot with mediocre one dimensional characters. I pretty much skimmed the 60%.

Not really what I had expected from Ms. Mead when I ordered this. I should've read the reviews and the brief summary because I was anticipating another series like Vampire Academy. So opening the pages of this volume, I was sorely disappointed. I couldn't continue reading it. Perhaps this is the perfect genre for someone new to Ms. Mead's work or someone that actually read the reviews and summary. Just not me.

I was entirely disappointed with this book. From the author of Bloodlines and Vampire diaries, I expected much better. I read this book expecting a fantasy. Not so much. This is a romance, pure and simple; a poorly written one at that. Any fantasy elements are incidental, and entirely irrelevant to the story.

Imagine a season of The Bachelorette set in 1800s where the Bachelorette gets caught sleeping with the director, and you have the basic gist of things. If that kind of drama is your thing, more power to you. Just don't expect anything substantiative from the main story arc.
