The book is nice, but it leaves more questions then answers. Nothing about Celestia and Luna's parents, Starswirl's cameo is nice but feels forced, the Griffon and Zebra's appearance feel thrown away....just to name a few.

Positives? Nice to see what SOME of their past looks like and the Mane 6 entries are a bit entertaining. (Especially Pinkie's; Surprise.)

Nice effort, but it comes up short in the end. Only recommended if you have everything else FIM related.

This is the journal Twilight Sparkle finds in the castle of the two sisters. Also included is the ponies' journal entries referenced in the first several seasons of the show. The journal fills in some details about events and locations in the cartoon show that ties the stories and characters together. The back of the book has a few empty pages for you or your young ones to begin your own journal entries.

It was quite intresting to meet Luna and Celestia as young cute and funny fillies. The book learn me many things about bouth Luna and Celestia, but also gave me another view of the MLP:FIM episodes. The mane six have already explored many of the things they write about in the book. So I expect they will discover more of all the intresting things from the book. The only not so very impressing was that the book was very short and also some hard to read. The text is made to look like real handwritten text (and all the ponies does't have the priettiest handwriting) It would also be better if the book explained more about their past with their parents.
Anyway a great illustrated book with lovely decores and paintings.?

First half of the book is great is very informative and fleshes out many of the characters like Celestia Luna and star swirl however the second half of the book (the mane 6 journal) feels rather rushed and unnecessary since in the show its a different book and not actually in the point sisters journal but overall a lot of good well written and presented information hope we see more Fandom focused products

Learn the history of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna by reading the diary they kept when they were younger. PLUS, hidden inside, readers will discover the pages of a bonus book--The Journal of Friendship. Inspired by Celestia and Luna, the pony friends Princess Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity and Applejack share a diary of their own! Read their entries--as seen on the show--and then write some of your own friendship observations in the book, too!a great read that really sheds some much needed light on these two alicorns

Shedding some more lights on two characters that have been left widely unexplored in the series, this exposition to the past of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna will answer questions that many of the fans have been clamoring to know, wrapped as a personal journey of discovery.

The Princesses' chapters are written and presented as obstacles that the main characters might face in the TV show, prompting for ideas that may as well be screenplay or ideas for fully pledged episodes. A writing decision that helps keep the charm of the animated series for fans with nods to events that have happened on TV, while keeping it fresh and entertaining for young readers who aren't familiar with the show.

The non-princesses' chapters serve as a fan homage, and a short recap of select episodes from the Hub series. A fantastic nod for fans, and though it may seem like it might leave non-fans in the dark, it manages to tell short version of stories that can definitely help open up new fans to the ideas already present in the animated series.

A fun, afternoon read for fans, non-fans and young readers!
