I skipped this book so many times, thinking I just wouldn't like it. I wished I'd read it a long time ago. It was different than most books I usually choose and I really enjoyed it. The dialogue is funny and touching and the romance has enough heated tension to bounce a quarter off of.

I hesitated a long time before I bought this book, only because of some of the reviews. But I really enjoyed it and it is up there with my top favorite SEP books. The setting was hilarious, and the characters funny and heartwarming as always. A light fast read that will make you laugh.

I read the Publisher's Weekly review and couldn't believe they were talking about the book I just read. The book was awesome - it took a chapter or so to get into it, but I loved the characters and have no idea what the review meant by an overabundance of sex. (Did they read the right book?) Susan Elizabeth Phillips always knows how to tug on the heart strings of her readers and this book was no different.

susan Elizabeth Philips likes to write about women who are down on their luck but are strong. I loved that they are not whinny or pushovers. Her story is about her courage and morals. When lies are told about her and she won't allow it to break her. The hero is a tough guy and through it all the ending is worth the read.

I think Elizabeth scored something major with the tale of Alex and Daisy. I was on the edge with every pages, fell in love with every single characters and love the conspiracy thrown in the mix. By far my favorite of Suzanne Elizabeth phillips

This book was really cute. The main characters were sweet and easy to like and the circus setting was quite interesting, especially as it felt as though the author had done her research into that kind of life. A definite must-read if you want something easy and enjoyable to kick back and relax with.

Funny and romantic all rolled into one. I loved the setting in which the story took place as it set the stage to feel as though anyone could truly join the circus someday. It left me with a smile on my face.

I've just recently read about five Susan Elizabeth Phillips books in a row and loved all of them. Then I hit the wall with this one.

It is necessary when reading romance novels to suspend disbelief at probablity that these plots would ever happen but this one "jumped the shark" for me.

I am willing to accept the meddling absent father who insists on a arranged marriage for the flaky, spendthrift daughter. Enter the groom, mysterious Russian (no accent or even a muttered "dushka" from him), OK. Still on board with the plot.

Then the new groom whisks her off to the circus, huh. Along the way he magically can set fire to her cigarettes, at least three times, with his secret pyrotechnic abilities, huh, and it's never explained. He treats her mean, she shovels elephant crap then discovers her own mysterious abilities to communicate with a Siberian tiger, another trick not ever explained. On and on it went with false accusations, nasty ex-lover acrobat, a miserable teenage girl, and a tentative, weak, budding romance. The grand finale was even more ridiculous involving discoveries of links to royalty and our hero is not only a circus performer but a Ph.D historian. The poor heroine hangs in there with this miserable dude even getting whacked with a whip across the chest only leaving him when he suggests she abort her baby. OMG it was sickening.

I think SEP was on auto-pilot when she wrote this one. I didn't care about these people and neither will you.

This awesome book by SEP has so much to recommend it, that I'm hard pressed to single out any one element that makes it the unforgettable read that it is. The colorful background of a traveling, second tier circus and the lovable eccentrics, both human and animal, that are the life's blood of the show immediately capture and keep a hold of your imagination. Daisy is an eternal optimist, married off to an impatient, cynical Alex, by her stern, bloodline conscious, and manipulative father. There are many moments of humor, sorrow, and sensuality found throughout this extraordinary story. One humorous scene that stayed with me and made me laugh out loud, has to do with Daisy helping Alex uphold his "sacred" wedding vows. When she is leaving the ladies room at a truck-stop where they stopped for breakfast, Daisy sees Alex flirting with a waitress. Daisy smiles and thanks the waitress for keeping her husband company. She then lowers her voice to a loud whisper, "Not everyone has been so nice to him since he's gotten out of prison. I've never for one moment believed he murdered that waitress." Alex chokes on his coffee, the waitress rushes to help other customers, and Daisy says gaily, "Run along, and God bless!" You will fall in love with Daisy and enjoy the futility of Alex's fight not to do the same.

Daisy Devreaux found herself in a no-win situation. She was in debt and needed her father’s help. He gave his daughter a choice, of going to jail or marrying the man of his choosing. Daisy’s father was obsessed with Russian history. So it was no surprise to Daisy when she found herself reciting her marriage vows with Alex Markov.

Alex Markov was devilishly handsome but incapable of love, or at least that was what he told Daisy. She didn’t believe him though, and set out, to prove him wrong. Daisy sincerely hoped that Alex was capable of loving her because her traitorous heart was falling for him. The story takes place in a traveling circus, and although this well-written romance is heartbreaking at times, it’s also touching, funny, and very addicting. I loved it.

I LOVED IT!

This book is the first Susan Elizabeth Phillip's book I have ever read and I think I'm in love.

The portion of humor, anguish, misunderstanding and happiness is balance and enough to make me squirm and not stopping once until I finished reading it. I loved it!

Alex is dang annoying. I want to slap him so bad for his s***ty attitude towards Daisy. Sheba too, even though we all got the happy ending, still, they annoys me. But the author succeed to make me fall for Alex all over again especially after the deal in the zoo. I'm satisfied and that's why this book earned five stars from me.

Glad I stumbled on this one and can't wait to read more books from this author.

Kiss an Angel is a standalone novel from Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This is the first book I have read from Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I absolutely loved it! It is a contemporary romance with very interesting plot themes, including an arranged marriage, traveling-circus life, and the bonds between humans and animals. The main characters are Daisy and Alex, who find themselves in a six-month arranged marriage. They don't know each other and their interactions and experiences are so funny! I really liked the animals in this story. The focus on them in some parts was very moving. The story is lovely and enjoyable. I am so glad I read this book and would highly recommend it to any one who enjoys a funny and sweet adult contemporary romance.

Wow... can romance fiction get any better than KISS AN ANGEL? In my opinion, I think not! KISS AN ANGEL by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is the best contemporary story I've read so far. It's full of humour, love, and witty dialogues.
The story opens with Daisy Devereaux and Alex Markov exchanging marriage vows. You see, Daisy has been depressed lately -her mother just passed away. Her parents were divorced, and Daisy was living with her mother. So when her mother died, Daisy thought the only way she could cope with her sadness was go on a shopping spree. She bought expensive clothes and jewellery all on credit, and when she had no money left in the bank, she still kept spending. It was only until she was given a warrant to be arrested did she realize her big mistake. Not wanting to face jail, she turns to her father for help. Daisy and her father never got along well together, and her father thought it was about time for Daisy to clean up her act. So he decides the only way that that can happen is for Daisy to get married to a man of his choosing, for six months. Well, and if she doesn't, then she can just face her future in jail. So Daisy's father picks Alex Markov, and quickly they are married. At once Alex takes Daisy away, and she is on a journey that will forever change her life.
Alex Markov is a man full of secrets, and his character/history is not fully revealed until near the end of the novel. He is not too pleased about getting married, especially to a girl who he believes is an airhead and only cares about her vanity. Well you may wonder why he would agree to such an arrange marriage. But as mentioned above, he is a man full of secrecy and to say anything would ruin the novel, but I will only say he owns Daisy's father a favour, because he did something for Alex long time ago. Presently he is working as a traveling circus manager, and he takes Daisy with him, and they live in a run-down trailer. Daisy at first is disgusted with the accommodations, but soon is in awe with the different type of lifestyle some people have. She begins performing in the circus, at Alex's command and bonds with animals that she'd never imagined she be able to see. She takes the marriage vow she and Alex had very seriously, and goes out of her way to be a good wife. Moreover she soon realizes that she cares for Alex and that caring quickly turns into love. Alex soon sees Daisy's real personality, and that she's not a bimbo at all, but a beautiful girl with a heart that is so loving and sweet, that he can't help but begins to care deeply for her. However something in his past makes him think that he is unable to love anyone, and in turns he finally breaks Daisy's heart. How he goes about fixing it is the most wonderful of all!
My favourite parts in the novel are when the circus is travelling from state to state, and each time Daisy and Alex are eating at a restaurant, Alex begins flirting with the waitress. One of the times this exchange takes place:
*Alex* "Back already, Sis?" He smiled, the glint of challenge in his eyes. "Tracey and I have been getting to know each other"
*Tracey - Waitress* "I'm trying to talk your brother into hanging around for a while, my shift ends in an hour."
*Daisy* "You sweet, sweet girl. He's been so self-conscious around women since his medical problem was diagnosed. But I keep telling him- with wonders of antibiotics, those pesky little sexually transmitted diseases are hardly a problem for anybody anymore."
And every time Daisy outsmarts him and gets him to stop. That's how serious she is about her vows. Read KISS AN ANGEL, you won't regret that you did!

Susan Elizabeth Phillips is one of those rare authors that you can pick up and know without a doubt that you have a winner! "Kiss an Angel" was the first SEP novel I read. And now, I've devoured almost all of her books and wait with bated breath for the next release. Specifically, with regard to "Kiss an Angel," Daisy and Alex have a special story. They are thrown together through the wily political maneuverings of Daisy's father. But love blossoms between the pair even though there is a painful history behind Alex. Daisy manages to bring Alex out of the box and gives him life and joy. In the end, it is Alex who manages to return the gift after the way he hurts her and chases her off. I think that every great love story has a poignant moment where love that would normally be taken for granted is challenged and the lovers have to face that challenge in order to make for a future. Daisy and Alex have to face that challenge, and of course, like every romance novel - love prevails at the end of the day! For those who have never read and SEP novel you are surely missing out!

My first book by SEP and I loved it! Intelligent writing and characters, oh and animals. Her writing allows you to feel for these people, and not just the main two. I already have my next SEP book picked out, can't wait .

I really enjoyed the story. The characters drew you in, and they all seemed like friends I'd known for a long time. Just an overall great book that I had to finish in one sitting. The only complaint I have is I read the kindle version and there were a large number of typos in the text, and this is a problem for me. I hate reading poorly proofed documents.

DNF, stopped at 25% and would advice you read the negative reviews carefully. The little I read was simply awful. And Gosh, the author annoys me with all the name dropping...and she does this with all her books. I hated this book with a passion.

Since then I've backlisted almost all her books, but rather than read them all, stuffing myself like a choco-holic who's found a box of Godivas, I treat myself to them, one at a time. And, let me tell you, Kiss an Angel was a treat. I'm used to SEP's sports heros, have fallen in love with them even, but Alex Markov made me long for a ticket to the circus. Watching him try to tame Daisy Deveroux was a treat. You see, he didn't understand Daisy at all. Like everyone else, Alex didn't have a clue who the stranger he married really was. Daisy might look like a spoiled, rich, ball of fluff, but as Alex starts to look closer he discovers a woman whose keen mind is only rivalled by her capacity to love. Watching this seemingly unlikely pair turn into a match made in heaven was a delight. SEP's sense of humor is only rivaled by her ability to touch her reader's heart.
