I really enjoyed the sexy Danvers series. I can't believe that the same author wrote Pierced. The sex, and there is plenty of it, is beyond raunchy and isn't the least bit arousing, as it was presented. It was more like a badly written sex manual.

The storyline of two damaged people finding one another and feeling some comfort in each other's company and arms was just ok. However, the speed with which they felt a "connection" was not plausible, to me. Anyway, I think you will enjoy the Danver's series more than this one. If you've already read it, skip this disappointment.

absolutely captivating I could not put this book down from page one I was into this tragic broken sweet passionate train wreak this was one off the best books I have read all year and part two was just as good if not better oh my god the love making was off the charts and the hero was to die for broken and all it just makes you love him more and lia as tragic as her life was >man we should all be so strong and can still make your heart break and have a heart of gold no spoilers from me but take my word for it hunker down with part one and two and also like me count the days hours and seconds until book three WOW.>so good< miss landon I cant wait for book 3 but please take your time and do it right girl sometime the third book can be rushed and miss the mark don't let that happen with this wonderful story.

I enjoyed the book, however, my only turn off about the book is Lucian's secret addiction. For a man who is highly successful and in control of his life and everything around him, his addiction seems so implausible. I tried to understand and think perhaps the writer is showing the readers that here's a strong and domineering character who thinks he's in control, but he really isn't. I very much like Lea's character. I like her fighting spirit and her strong. sense of survival. Although she's had a lot of hardships in her life, she's still going strong. Lea's past traumas and daily struggles to make it by achieving her goals shows her her strength and determination. That's why I like this heroine so much. Definitely a good read. I'd recommend this book.

I was looking forward to an a good contemporary read and was so disappointed. I stopped reading at 20% because the conversation was crude and something non professionals wouldn't use or teenager's may use trying to impress.

So I jumped to the end and read about the last 8 pages, when just as it is getting suspenseful, IT ENDS IN A CLIFFHANGER. So you will not know if someone is dead or anything.

Be warned, many times I've been fortunate enough to read great books that are free, but not this one. Pass on it!! (ljb)

I started reading this expecting the typical CEO/Mousy girl romance novel (and I was ok with that) but then something happened and the book took me down a completely different road. The story and the writing style are fantastic. The only thing I wish I had checked ahead of time was that there is a cliffhanger. That threw me but not enough to keep from giving it the 5 stars it deserves.

Can't wait for the next book.

First time reading a book by Sydney and well once again I found another favorite author to add to my huge ever growing list. I loved everything about this book. The characters, the secondary chracters, the plot line, the witty banter between Lucian and Lia. The sex was off the charts hot but very well written and not too descriptive. The cliffhanger at the end though really threw me for a loop and I'm looking forward to reading book two. We also see a bit of mystery going on with Lucian and what happened in his past hopefully we get to find out more of that in book two. I couldn't help but fall in love with Lia such a sweet character who literally overcame a sh***y past to get where she is at in the book.

This was not my typical type of book. I downloaded it because it was free. This book includes rough sex and some drug use and I almost gave up reading it, but I was so intrigued to find out some things that I plodded on. I did somewhat find out the cause of Luc's scar, but an unexpected twist in the last two pages of the book left me hanging! I do want to find out what happens to Lia, but not sure if I can read another whole book with that sort of content. If you want a story with a nice, clean ending do not read this book. If you don't mind rough sex and cliffhangers, then give it a try.

Pierced is quite the thriller. It is fast-paced, funny, emotional, and quite hawt. Lucien and Lia are unlikely yet, predestined and perfect for each other. I love their connection and interaction with one another. It seems as though each moment of their lives is supercharged and explosive. Trauma and drama definitely combine to make this beautiful couple's story traumatic. There is enough suspense to keep one reading into the wee hours of the morning.

I am glad I can dive straight into Fractured, Sydney Landon 's sequel to Pierced. There are so many questions I still have and so many secrets left to unravel. Pierced contains all of the best elements of romance and so much more.

This first book in this series was free to introduce us to Lucian and Lia.
I truly liked Lucian and Lia until 44%. It stopped me cold.
I wont give any spoilers but I can honestly say i wont read the others in this series but the book 5 with Aiden looks tempting.
As for the writing and execution of the book, Ms Landers does a professional job.

This was a really good book. Well written, easy flow that kept me interested. Until the vey end. Saying that, I will not read anymore of this series. I am sick of getting into a book just to find that it is really just the beginning and you are left with a cliff hanger. In order to finish you have to spend $3.99 for he next installment. I have to wonder if that will be another cliff hanger and I'll have to pay $5.99 to actually finish the story.
When I get a free book that is well written and interesting I am grateful and usually buy everything from the author. Too many times lately I get a free book and it is only part of a story. I wish this was one of the authors I read for, I would have given my opinion before it was released and read more of her work.

Ok, so this is nothing original and def feels like I have read it before - a mix of FSOG and the Crossfire series but I enjoyed the play out of Lia being honest and sweet while Luc was dark and secretive.

This was free and while I usually hate cliffhangers lately, I can see why authors do this with a series - it def sucked me in and I am off to buy the rest!

Where is Cassie? What will happen with THAT story line? Will Lia be able to recover ....

I declare this series better then 50 Shades in my opinion. The situations and life backgrounds are more realistic to todays times. The love story captured me from the first meeting. The way that the book can make you feel powerful and powerless at the same time due to how the characters are acting is incredible. Sometimes I feel like an outside friend that is their watching the situation. Lucian sound like one fine man, YUMMY! Lia is gorgeous inside and out. They perfectly balance each other with their strengths and weaknesses. I can't wait for the next two book. Spoiler, the ending is a total cliffhanger. Message the author saying NO FAIR, thats too big of a cliff hanger, thankfully won't have to wait long for Fractured.

Lucian and Lia are a complicated couple.. This book will hold your attention from beginning to end. It has everything you could want in a book. Hot steamy sex scenes, awesome friends, mystery, a great story ( even though parts seemed familiar) drama and angst. This book was free but would have gladly paid for it. I am so thankful for free books that allow you to discover awesome authors that you'll continue to follow. This is a trilogy so be warned. One heck of a cliff hanger, but second book fractured already out. Not to give away spoilers but if Lia's mom and stepfather don't get a serious smack down then I'll be livid!!!!

Lucian and Lia are two people who normally may not have met, but belong together. Her original home life was a horror and she managed to survive and thrive. He has his own painful past and sees Lia as his light. Hated that it ends on a cliffhanger, so I don't know their conclusion. Very steamy book as well.

I was really looking forward to reading this series from Sydney Landon. I enjoyed the Danvers series so my expectations were high (no pressure Sydney). :) All I can say is that I'm so glad I have all the books. I don't think I could of waited to see what happens in the next book.

This book keeps you glued to your seat and takes you on a roller coaster with your emotions waiting to se what happens next. The sex scenes are smoking! I love the characters especially Rose, Lia's roommate. Run out and get your copy. I'm onto the next book for the continuation of Luc and Lia's story.

This book actually surprised me, and in the good way. I didn't read much of the reviews, but only by reading the blurb, it seemed so... strangely arrongant and unrealistic that I thought 'oh wth why not?'. This was was free when I downloaded it.
It remained in my Ipad for weeks and today I decided to give it a read. First, the writting style is great, flawless and that was a plus. It was actually the first book written in the present tense that was very tolerable, nicely done, since I prefer stories written in the past tense. So that was a plus.
The plot started with a relentless male show off and I honestly dreaded for the worst, but... then it all changes. Lia is a strong character and her story really impressed me. It's not the cliché thing we're so used to and Lucian... well, the man actually seems to be an unsufferable jerk but his attachment to Lia and mainly his past story that goes slowly disclosing as the pages go by... wins you. It is a love story with an actual plot beneath it, and therefore, the author deserves an applause. With all the shallow, garbage literature of the genre, it gets more difficult to make a difference by actually writting better and making up a decent, interesting and touching plot - and Sidney Landon does it amazingly.
I will be reading the second book. How can I not?

I liked the beginning of this book even though it seemed to drag a little. I couldn't engage with the characters for some reason then the Main guy does coke. You know, just because it keeps him focused. Not cool. I can tolerate a lot of controversial topics but recreational drug use written in such an off-hand manner just turned me off. Tried to continue reading but by this stage the characters had lost me completely.

Wow!! Great book and a killer cliffhanger!! Thankfully, I don't have to wait for book 2.

Lucian and Lia are hot together. Both have troubled pasts and they have a connection to each other from the first time they meet. Lia's past comes crashing into the life she has made for herself, and Luc is right by her side to help her through it. He is also dealing with his past that still haunts him.

The ending is a crazy cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more.

This is what 50 Shades of Gray should have been... I love the details, down to how he stays in shape, this book leaves very few questions unanswered; and I am sure the questions will be answered in book 2 and 3. Such a beautiful story and very erotic! Loved this book cannot wait till book 2 and then book 3!

I am so lucky that a friend recommended this book to me because I would have definitely missed one great story if she didn't. Luc, I'm sure everyone who has read this book is in love with this dream of a man, and Lia, love her too for her strength and resilience and how the tragedy in her life didn't break her but made her stronger. Together this couple is magic. This book made me laugh out loud but it also made me cry. The ending is a brutal cliffhanger; although, in no way does it detract from the beauty of this story. Loved It! The writing was pure gold. Thank you Sydney Landon!!!

This series surprised me! I wasn't expecting to fall in love with this book the way I did. Two people with dark pasts they would like to keep buried end up on a "date" through an escort service. Neither of them expect to even enjoy the others company let alone meet their match. Book 1 ends in a cliff hanger so be prepared to purchase book 2 and 3 immediately because once you get to know this pair you won't be able to stop.

I really liked this book. The hero was strong but vulnerable. Lots of side stories. Heroine has so much strength from what she has gone through in her younger years but she didn't let it bring her down. She took care of herself first. Lots of language that could have been left out. Overall a good read.

I got almost 40% through the book and just couldn't get into it. I couldn't connect at all with Quinn. Didn't know what he looked like, what his personality was, or anything like that. Lia's personality didn't match that of an abused woman, and got annoying after a bit. It's the same story I've read a hundred times over.

Great story about two damaged souls (Lucian and Lia) and their undeniable connection to each other. Sydney Landon did a bang up job of creating two characters that you can't help but root for.I really enjoyed reading this and can't wait for the rest of their story.

Sydney has done it again another smashing hit. The story sucks you in and will not let you go!! The only problem I had was that I read it way to quickly and that I know have to wait to read more about Lia and Lucian. I have to say that this is one of the first times I have had a serious book hangover. This certainly a must read and reread many times over. Thanks again Sydney for another great story and series!!

Pierced is my first read by Sydney Landon and what a great book to start with! Although from different backgrounds and lives, Lia and Lucian are drawn to each other like a month to a flame. They each know their own version of heartache and pain. Two tortured souls come together in this steamy, romantic, suspenseful 5 star read. Continue Lia and Lucian's journey with Fractured and Mended.....I plan too!

Such an awesome series!!! Love how this was written and I'm so glad I found it. All the books in the series are wonderful and don't leave anyone out. It's amazing how many directions it takes and I love the Alpha Male in him. She wrote the characters very well and really went in-depth with the writing. Huge fan of hers now

Lia came from an abused background. But she is working her way through college and bettering herself. She earns money by being a "date" for executives( no hanky panky). She meets Lucian on one of these "dates". He is a business genius and started his own company. They are mutually attracted to each other. But Lucian has past demons to deal with. Their love is healing each other. But then Lia's stepfather finds her.
A great read of love, redemption and second chances.
