Book 5, This Side of the Grave: Night Huntress

Cat & Bones are my favorite vampire couple hands down! They just keep getting better. Ms. Frost never dissapoints with her plots and the development of her two main characters in this series. Keep them coming!

The Good: Cat & Bones are back! I had been waiting for a long while and I loved getting to see one of my favorite fiction couples ever! However, i think my favorite part of the book was Vlad. We got to read quite a few scenes with him and it just made me look forward to his spin-off even more.

The Bad: This wasn't my favorite book in the series =/. I felt that something was missing.

The Romance: I feel that since Cat and Bones are a stable couple, there could definitely have been more focus on the action and plot of the book.

So this book is different than the first four because there’s no actual conflict between Cat and Bones. They just have a lot on their plate. Cat’s uncle has been keeping a big secret from her. While trying to cope with his revelation, she has to deal with all the Apollyon business. To that end, Majestic becomes involved and the repercussions of her involvement are fun, exciting, scary, and unknowingly far reaching.

This isn’t my favorite book in the series due to some slow points that drive the story, but there are some very fun and interesting scenes and developments.

This Side of the Grave is all about trying to prevent war and it takes some special efforts of our favorite characters to succeed. An awesome read with an intriguing ending.

There are some books and series out there that just rise above. Jeaniene Frost is one author that really stands out for me. That being said, This Side of the Grave really didn't make a lasting impression other than feelings of being let down. When I read it, I kept waiting for it to really start. At half way I realized that it just was not going to. There is only one semi-steamy love scene, no action, and really not a reason for this to be a book in what is otherwise an action packed, nail biting, staying up all night to read, and too hot for the pages series. I strongly recommend all the books in the series prior to this one. Overall just an average paranormal romance novel. Darn it.

Loved this book. This series keeps getting better. Did not realize the two spin off books had to be read before this one though. I like the way Cat keeps maturing. Just wonder if her mother will get her own book.

This book was incredibly boring. It took me a long time to finish and I had to force myself to continue.

I felt like everyone coupled up, which is fine, but all at the same time? I didn't care for the Kira/ Mencheres Spade/Denise side plots, probably because I didn't realize their short stories were so pertinent to Cat and Bones.

I really want to finish the series, but I don't think I can stand another book as boring as this one was.
