The Healing Intelligence of Essential Oils - The Science of Advanced Aromatherapy

Great resource. Prefer Worwood's book, but this is a fantastic second resource, much more technical (which is fine for me because I am a health professional. Others without a good understanding or background in science might be intimidated by SOME sections.

I love the disease specific information in this book. As an oncology nurse certified in aromatherapy I hope to soon have the capability to utilize essential oils at our cancer center and I truly believe this book will give me lots of the information necessary to do so.

I bought this book another by Kurt Snaubelt, partly because his name was mentioned in other aromtherapy books as well positive reviews of his book. I wanted a deeper understanding on the chemical structures of essentail oils as well as practical applications. This book and others in his series are must haves for any serious student of aromatherapy.

first got this through interlibrary loan...and decided it was a "keeper" that we wanted to own. We get about 25 books a month through the library loan system...and only end up purchasing about one or two a month.....so it has to be good to get our "keeper" status.

This is the pairing to Dr. Schnaubelts Advanced Aromattherapy and a book I travel with everywhere. Great for advanced beginner thru practicing aromatherapist. These two books are a must if you are serious.

I wanted to be more informed about the scientific and chemical reasons why essential oils seem to have such almost miraculous healing properties, and this book certainly fills that bill. The author is obviously incredibly intelligent, so much so that he had me feeling like a major dummy several times. The subtitle of "The Science of Advanced Aromatherapy" is the key here, with the emphasis on "Science." Even when I didn't completely understand all the scientific principles discussed, I did understand that there is a definite basis in science for the efficacy of essential oils, especially the Certified Pure Theraputic Grade oils. I'd recommend this book to anyone just getting into essential oils and aromatherapy, as a basis for being able to scientifically explain something that seems, at first glance, to be so much snake oil. It's definitely not snake oil, and this book scientifically explains why it isn't.

As a student of Aromatherapy, I am glad I purchased this book. Brilliant reference book and interesting read. It changed my approach towards using essential oils in certain ways and I have learnt a great deal from this book.

excellent new information on essential oils, and how they are important in this age of antibiotic resistance. Some info is quite in depth, beyond what most people need to know, but I still highly recommend this book

This book has tons of great information. We have a friend who has cancer and is going through chemotherapy. This book has great information on essential oils to help with the discomfort and issues that arise from the treatment for cancer.

If you are looking for a reference book listing many oils, their uses, etc. as it applies to health care, then this isn't it. There is a good section talking about cancer and blurbs here and there about using a particular oil for an ailment, if that is good for you then this may be the book for you. It is still a good book, but not what I was looking for.

this book perfectly and expertly lays out the philosophy and the political and economic reality of pharmacological thinking. And what's beautiful is the way in which the author illuminates and guides the reader through the ecological, sociocultural and philosophical basis of aromatherapy. It's discussion of uses is similarly well articulated and easy. I couldn't ask for more. I'll be reading his other work Advanced Aromatherapy now that I have a bit of background.
