After reading the reviews I was so excited to get this book. I read less than the first chapter!
At the beginning of every page was the last paragraph from the previous page. I spent more time re-reading so I quit. SO VERY DISAPPOINTED !!
I love to read and this saddened me. I also hate paying any amount for a book and then not be able to read it.

Is there anything better than an ensemble cast book by one of your favorite authors?

After I read Holly and Nick's book (Seduction Game) I was worried it'd be the last we would see of Clare's I-Team. As a long-time fan of this series, that broke my heart. So when I found out about Dead By Midnight, I shouted my joy to the sky and thanked the God of Books.

And though I expected it to be amazing, I didn't expect quite THIS.

Action-packed (seriously, no chapter goes by where you aren't wide-eyed and gasping), emotion-loaded (not spoiling anything but MARC!) and somehow filled with funny and sweet scenes to keep the laughter and tears flowing.

I don't think Clare could have done any better not only with this book but with this series.

I just finished reading and I think I'm going to go read it again!

PS: I love Julian Darcangelo.

Pamela Clare redefines my view of unputdownable!

The I-Team crew have found themselves doing some pre-Christmas celebrating at the same hotel. Kat and Gave Rossiter checked in before the newspaper’s party to get some alone time. Sophie has tempted Marc into later finding an isolated place of their own, Kara and Reece are attending the annual British Consulate General’s party. They’re all there for a few hours of entertaining but a malicious group of radicals have different plans for the hotel’s guests.

No sooner had their night started when in the blink of an eye situation turns deadly. And while the quick action of Holly, Marc and the gang helps some escape and throws a wrench in the terrorist’s plans, they’re definitely in grave danger and running out of time.

While their friends and loved ones are inside, some held at gunpoint some trying to help out, Darcangelo, McBride and Nick Andris will do whatever they can to help the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team to save the hostages.

This story blew me away and reminded me just how much I love Pamela Clare’s writing. Dead by Midnight is sexy, sweet, touching and thrillingly explosive. It’s a seat at the edge of your seat, heart stopping story without respite from one moment to the next. I enjoyed every single moment from beginning to end. The storytelling is so good that I felt as if I was watching a suspense movie unfold right in front of my eyes. Having it be told from various points of view, including the bad guy’s, gives the reader a thorough and detailed description making it very exciting. It could hardly be considered a novella.

I really liked catching up with all of Pamela’s I-Team characters which all skillfully share the spotlight in this well-constructed plot. The girls are smart and feminine and the guys are tough and commanding but also love so deeply, they’re completely swoon worthy. They’ve grown as couples and friends, some expanding their families with little ones. I loved that there were cameos by some interesting men I certainly want to get to know from the FBI Hostage Rescue Team series by Kaylea Cross. They’re certainly going to my to-read list.

Dead by Midnight is novella #7.5 in the I-team series by Pamela Clare. It’s a Christmas novella told from various points of view with a happy ending.

After a long hiatus due to illness, a double dose of Pamela Clare’s I-Team series in the span of a few months (with the full length SEDUCTION GAME and the long Christmas novella, DEAD BY MIDNIGHT)? Win! Throw in cameos by the sexy badass alphas of Kaylea Cross’ Hostage Rescue Team series? I’ve died and gone to heaven.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m generally not the biggest fan of novellas: either nothing happens or the author tries to pack too much in, characters often feel flat, the romantic relationship develops at lightning speed and feels unrealistic, and I’m generally left with a sense of dissatisfaction that I didn’t get a complete story. I’m doubly wary when the novella has the potential to be nothing but gratuitous fan service. Neither of those issues is a concern in DEAD BY MIDNIGHT—a novella only in the technical sense and ‘fan service’ insofar as it allows us to catch up with and get closure for every single I-Team couple. DEAD BY MIDNIGHT is as action-packed, emotionally intense, suspenseful, and sexy as any of Ms. Clare’s full-length novels. Every character gets his or her time in the spotlight, and yet there isn’t a single superfluous scene or slackening of the tension that grabs you from page one and doesn’t let up until the end—a true testament to Ms. Clare’s extraordinary storytelling skill.

Long-time I-Team fans will appreciate this excellent (final?) addition to the series; newbies who like romantic suspense: what are you waiting for?

I’m such a sucker for Holiday stories but this one really intrigued me because it involved all of my favorite characters from Pamela Clare’s I-Team series. The gang is all here and it’s a furious ride until the end when some of our beloved characters are trapped and being held hostage by a number of gun-toting, angry men. Pepe, the leader of the hostage situation, wants his cousin out of prison. Until he is flown over and given a few million dollars as well, he still start killing people every five minutes until they are all dead.

On the outside, several people are working together to get everyone out safely. This includes an interesting twist that involves Clare putting another author’s character inside her story as well. I have read Callie Croix, Kaylea’s other pen name before but not her FBI Hostage Rescue series. I loved this aspect of the story and I think it really added a unique twist. I definitely will be checking out Cross’s series after this.

As I mentioned earlier, the gang is all here. I loved returning to some of my all-time favorite Romantic Suspense heroes. As of late, I felt as if some of the books have lost its magic but this novella really brought it back and got me excited about these characters all over again. My favorites are still Marc, Gabe and Dorkangelo (haha).

For the heroines, it was nice to see how they are doing now. I was especially excited about Kat, who I think readers will have the most connection to. Gabe and Kat in this story are really fantastic.

The one thing I would say is that while I remember the stories being sexy back then, I don’t think they were this erotic before. Clare can sometimes go a little over the top with her sex scenes but if you don’t mind that in a Romantic Suspense plot, then you should be fine. I just think that sometimes when all the action is going on, steamy sex scenes are a little more tougher to place and make more emotional when tensions are rising.

All in all, if you’re a hardcore I-Team fan like I am, you definitely do not want to miss out on this story.

So many couples, so much danger, so many reasons to check out this book. In one part of the hotel, the newspaper's I-Team (investigative team) it's involved in their company Christmas party. In another area, the Lt. Governor and the Secretary of State are attending the British Consulate General's Christmas party. Unfortunately, a third group is spread throughout the hotel disguised as staff...Columbian terrorists. Just as the parties are getting started, Holly Andris notices a gun sticking out from underneath a staff cart. She manages to get a warning text out and pull the fire alarm before being taken down by a bullet. Her actions save the many people who are able to make it outside, but the terrorists still manage to take hundreds of hostages including most of Holly's closest friends. Marc Hunter manages to avoid capture even though his wife, Sophie, is among the hostages. He begins to wage his own small war trying too take the rooftop off the hotel. Nick, Holly's husband, hears she is down, but he is stuck on the outside. He is an agent with Cobra, a private security firm. He and his co-workers end up coordinating with SWAT and even the FBI's HRT team (courtesy of author Kaylea Cross) to mount a rescue.

This book starts off with mega doses of super hot chemistry as each couple enjoys their date night away from their children and gets ready for their respective parties. It then morphs into non-stop action as both those on the inside and those on the outside work to find a way to stop the terrorists before their loved ones are harmed.

Kaylea Cross is one of my favorite authors. I love her HRT series, and choose to read this book for that reason. I didn't remember having read any of the I-Team books until after I started reading and recognized a couple characters. I enjoyed this story and the I-Team couples enough that I'm now going to have to go back and read the books I missed. The Christmas time setting of the story was nice and thankfully not overdone.

I received an ARC from Net Galley for review.

Another winner in the series. All the usual suspects are at a gala but things are about to go from fun to danger. The hotel is taken over by terrorists that are demanding that a prisoner gets released from prison and they will stop at nothing even if that means more deaths. Who will get out alive?
Gabe & Kat are about to welcome their new baby into the world so this is a time for joy but it is about to get very dangerous and Kat will need to be strong for her baby. Can Gabe get her out alive so that they can see their other children again?
Marc & Sophie are so in love and they can't keep their hands off each other. Will Marc lose her this time for good?
Reece & Kara just need to get through this night in one piece, she doesn't even want to be here but Reece is obliged by work.
Holly & Nick had a fight before she left to come to the gala and they both said some nasty things, will they get to see each other again and can they plan that family? A great fast paced suspenseful book, love all the characters as they are all worthy and they all deserve to be happy as they have all been through so much.

This reminded me of the first Bruce Willis Die Hard movie. Terrorists take over a hotel holding guests hostage. A cop who was in the hotel as a party guest sneaks around causing trouble for the terrorists. Others do heroic things as well.

The ending went a little overboard with excessive talk about families, babies, barbecues, and thanking everyone.

AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Kaleo Griffith was excellent doing general narration and male voices. But he needs to learn how to do women better. His voices for women were weird and strange. Other male narrators do women better.

Merry Christmas Pamela Clare fans! Santa has brought you a most amazing present. Dead By Midnight: An I-Team Christmas is a Christmas book gift beyond compare. We get to see our favorite couples as they have settled into married life and parenthood. The sex is still off the charts and the commitment deeper than ever. On top of that we have a suspense plot that could be ripped from the headlines. It just doesn't get any better.

It's the annual Christmas party for the Denver Independence Newspaper. After being acquired by a new publisher, the I-Team aren't quite sure if they will together very much longer. The new boss has pulled out all the stops by holding the shindig at the Palace Hotel, a fabulous hotel in downtown Denver. The British Ambassador is also hosting a holiday party there as well with the Secretary of State and Lt. Governor Reece in attendance.

The place is taken over by a Columbian drug gang and demands are made. Luckily the I-Team and their spouses and friends are there to spoil that party.

Pamela Clare's Dead by Midnight is an excellent read and lets us check-in with the I-TEAM family of Reese & Kara, Julian & Tessa, Marc & Sophie, Zach & Natalie, Holly & Nick and others. Yes, they are caught in a dark and deadly situation, but incredible bravery and unwavering loyalty motivated by the deepest love will help them through the danger. The pages of this shorter novel are filled with non-stop suspense and sacrifice along with emotional sexy moments between each couple. The law enforcement and emergency services details were convincing and enjoyable to read. I feel the story concluded with a series-ending tone which I hope is not the last readers will see of the I-TEAM, but well-done and thanks to the author!

What a fantastic Holiday Gift for Pamela Clare's I-Team fans! I say that because the characters are all our favorites from books past. Woven into another action packed suspense novel are updates on all the people I've come to care about. I so appreciated that it wasn't just a surface read though. Dead by Midnight has all the hallmarks of a Pamela Clare Action/Suspense novel packed into this gem (deep engaging characters, first rate action sequences, and a well crafted story with just enough passion and romance to go around). I suppose one might pick up this book based on the premise, and probably wouldn't be disappointed, in fact I'd bet it serves as a catalyst for new readers to search out the rest of the series. I plan a re-read for the holidays.

I just happen upon this writer and love her books. Thus far, this is only the 2nd one(both being called novellas-200 pages) but most delightful. If the full length(?) books are as good, I am truly hooked. Now one needs to really read them all to know what was going on with these characters in their past. This is a fast moving DIE HARD book. WOW! Thank you Ms. Clare....... Romantic Suspense personified.......

This one blew me away!

Ms. Clare really knows how to write! Not only did she provide a great ending to a wonderful I-Teams Series, but she was able to reconnect all of the past people we've all come to know and love all in one story.

This is definitely a must-read to finish off a great series. There is passion, friendship, love, bravery, and everything else associated with this series in abundance. Be prepared to giggle, laugh, and mostly cry as you read this book because it is filled to the brim with moments of touching thoughts and selfless acts.

I just might have to re-read the entire series again just so I can experience it all over.

Be prepared with tissues, ice water and a stiff drink when you read Pamela Clare's latest I-Team book. It wouldn't hurt to lock your door either because you won't want to be interrupted once you start.

Pamela has written a fitting farewell to her I-team cast in this novella. Honestly, I was thinking Die Hard (with hot sex of course) while reading this book! She even crosses characters from Kaylea Cross's HRT series-another great series to read, btw! Pamela had me on a roller coaster of emotions-I laughed, I cried, I even held my breath in suspense at some points. I won't give details, you'll have to just read the book. I have to say this is the best closure book in a series I've ever read and highly recommend this book!

This book has everything....suspense, humor, romance, tears and the strength of overwhelming friendships. Throughout her I-Team series Pamela Clare has crafted strong characters with real flaws and real emotions. They drive the stories, the stories don'the drive them. This is a fitting send off for the characters we've grown to love. If you haven'the read Ms. Clare's I-Team novels, don'the wait another minute.

I recently read suspense romance is supposedly on the decline with readers. I don’t believe that and this novella shows why. Dead by Midnight (An I-TEAM Christmas) by Pamela Clare has loving couples celebrating then tragically wind up in danger. Before it is all over they save the day. This scenario sadly is not so farfetched. It could be right off of our front page.

Each of the couples have had their own stories in the I-Team series. I loved seeing them all again as they “confront the ugliness of the world”. It is a riveting, emotional and highly suspenseful read. We all need heroes to give us hope in the everyday world which is becoming scarier and scarier. Thank you Pamela Clare, for giving us such a fascinating group of characters who do just that. Suspense romance is alive and thriving, I loved this.

I love Pamela Clare. I am never disappointed by her reads. This book falls under that realm. What happens when a holiday party turns into a hostage situation. It may sound like an easy mark ,but they did not account for the Iteam. Members of I team have connections to many levels of the police forces. So feel sad. For the terrorists. It is a fast action story that keeps your attention. You will love it.

Action packed. Lots of romance. Way too much stress - for me at least. But it was SO worth it. I loved every minute of this story (even when I hated it). It was a fitting end to the I-Team. I hate to see these guys go but this was one heck of a way to go out!

I absolutely LOVE Pamela and this book blew me out of the water. It's all my favorite characters and some new ones that I think I'm going to love soon. This book takes you from slow and steady to heart pumping action in the blink of an eye. The friendships are beautiful and the relationships are soul wrenching. I recommend this with both hands high in the air!!!
