This is a good love story with strong characters. The story moves right along. Keeps the reader engaged. I liked the story. HOWEVER nothing in the preview of the book warns you of its unecessarily graphic sexual content or the amount of it. The book would have been just as good....or better in my opinion.....with "good old fashioned fadeouts"!Leave a little to our imaginations! Therefore, l give it 3 stars only and wont order any more of the series

Set The Night On Fire by Jennifer Bernard, is the first book in her Jupiter Point series and Ms. Bernard hits this story out of the park. Jupiter Point is a city in northern California where you can see the stars better than anywhere else. The people of Jupiter Point say “Remember to look up at the stars.”

The hero is Sean Marcus, former town bad boy who left Jupiter Point thirteen years prior after spending a night in jail. He returns as the leader of the Jupiter Point Hotshots wildfire crew. He is out to prove that he is no longer that troubled boy and can now be trusted. The heroine is Evie McGraw, the town sweetheart who has a secret. She has never talked about that night thirteen years, the night that changed her life. Sean is the only other person who knows what really happened that night.

The minute Sean sets eyes on Evie his plan to stay out of trouble goes up in smoke. Evie is all grown up and beautiful. Sean is the only person Evie can talk to about that night. She believes he is the one to help her turn her life around. Evie gave up everything to protect her parents but now she has to make a decision. Should she keep silent about what happened or put her heart on the line and let Sean help her heal from the past?

This was a fun and entertaining story with loveable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written, authentic and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. I highly recommend this book, and all others previously written by Jennifer Bernard to all readers and I cannot wait for the next story in this series.

While I really loved Sean and their love story, I have mixed feelings about Evie herself. While the mantra that "McGraws don't make waves" is understandable in most cases, this secret of Evie's is not one that, in my opinion, should have been kept. Not only for her emotional well-being, but for the protection of others.
I enjoyed the firefighting elements, and of course the very hot firefighters themselves. Having read Bernard's San Gabriel series, I'm familiar with her writing style. I appreciate her descriptive accounts, especially revolving around the fire fightingitself...enough info to understand and visualize what's going on, but not so long-winded that it takes away from the flow of the story (or confuses me).
So, this book for me was a 3.5 but that's not enough for me to give up on a favorite author or ultimately what I think will be a great series! Judge for yourself.

Sean Marcus fled Jupiter Point as a seventeen year old because he was an angry teenager that had lost everything he knew. His father and mother were killed in a plane crash. The cause was rumored to be his father’s fault but never proved. Sean believed it. He moved in with his best friend, Hunter, and his family. Hunter’s younger sister is Evie McGraw. Sean stays away from everyone. Evie admires Sean from afar. One night changes both of them and causes Sean to leave. It’s not Evie’s fault but she feels it is. Sean feels that every one in town believes he is just like his father. He defends Evie from the boy who the town adores.
Evie’s family doesn’t do drama. Far from it. So when Evie’s mother falls ill before she’s supposed to go off to college, she doesn’t go. She stays and takes care of her and helps out her father. Her dream however was to see the world and take as many photographs as possible. When Sean leaves, she feels it’s her fault. He was arrested for defending her. And she never spoke up.
Sean has made something of himself in the years to follow. He became a Hotshot firefighter and is the man in charge of his unit. They find themselves in a desperate situation in the middle of a fire. They have to use their emergency supplies to save their lives. And in such a situation, the unit starts talking about what they will do if they get out of this. Sean’s is to return to Jupiter Point to prove to the town that he is better than that angry kid that left.
When they first see each other again, it’s at a town meeting. But they can’t keep their eyes off each other. Sean didn’t return to fall in love and Evie thought he’d never forgive her for not speaking up. He doesn’t know the whole story of what happened in that car so long ago, he just knew she was in trouble.
I loved this book. The chemistry between them is undeniable. The characters have depth. They are not just what is on the surface. And they are HOT together. My favorite part about them is that they aren’t afraid to say what they want from each other. At least as far as their sexual relationship. They do dance around the true feelings that they develop for each other.
Sean lets Evie go because he feels that he isn’t good enough for her. She decides to move on and date those that have asked I the past. None of them generate the same feelings that Sean did.
They both find out that the town is not as unforgiving and narrow minded as they both think. Evie has been hiding something that should have been spoken about. But the town supports her 110%. Sean realizes that the town doesn’t hold his father or his actions against him.
I don’t want to put any spoilers in here but I am glad that HEA’s exist. I love small town stories. The town has so many different types of people in it that keep the story interesting. This town is known for looking to the stars. I always have and I would love to move here.

**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**

"Set the Night on Fire" is written by Jennifer Bernard, and it is the first book in her Jupiter Point series. It can be read as a stand-alone book. It features Sean Marcus and Evie McGraw.

Right from the first scene, you will get hooked with this story! Sean Marcus is a firefighter. You see him and his hotshot crew battle a blaze in the Big Canyon Wilderness. They survived the experience, but it was definitely eye-opening for everyone. Sean realizes he wants to come back to the place he left behind, Jupiter Point.

Sean is back in town. He's setting up the new Jupiter Point Hotshots wildfire crew. Evie McGraw knows he will be at the town meeting. Problem is, the person she doesn't really want to endorse, Brad White, is also going to be at the meeting too. She's the president of Jupiter Point Business Coalitions, and Brad wants their endorsement for state representative. All she has to do is endorse Brad, and everything will be all right. But one look at Sean during the meeting, and she's brought back to what happened in the past. Several years ago, Evie had an incident with Brad where Sean came to her rescue. Evie didn't want to trouble or embarrass her parents, so she never told the truth from that night. In turn, Sean left town. Will she endorse Brad?

When Sean and Evie see each other again, there is that instant connection and chemistry that they've always had. They were hot together! All throughout this book, you see them support each other, and you see Evie realize that it's important to stand up for herself. Much like Jennifer Bernard's other books, we will fall in love with all of Sean and Evie's family and friends. Definitely looking forward to reading Sean's best friend, Josh, and Evie's cousin, Suzanne, story next!

I am always excited when I open a Jennifer Bernard book. But, when she writes a new firefighter series, and makes it about Hotshots, I am overly excited. She did not disappoint me in any way with the start of the Jupiter Point series. Sean and Evie were two special people who knew that the wonderful town of Jupiter Point would never accept … or would they?

Sean was the bad boy of Jupiter Point. He left after a night in jail protecting the one person who always seemed to have faith in him. During the Big Canyon burnover, he had an epiphany … he had to return to Jupiter Point just to show them that he’s not the screw-up that they all thought he was. He gets his chance when he is offered the job as the leader of the Jupiter Point Hotshots and now has to face everyone, including the man that put him in jail. He won’t let anything deter him from his mission until he sees Evie. Now, he’ll do whatever it takes to see her smile, to help her, to keep her secret.

Evie could not believe her eyes when the new Hotshot crew was introduced. She couldn’t believe that Sean was back, here, in Jupiter Point at the same time that she has to endorse Brad – the man that landed him in jail. She can’t do it and she can’t tell anyone why without embarrassing her family. She’ll never do anything to bring shame to her parents, especially with her mother battling Parkinson’s. The mudslinging starts, the accusations fly, decisions have to be made and all Evie could do is think about Sean and how he stole her heart. It’s time for her to stand up to Brad, to tell the people of Jupiter Point just who they were backing and who was there to protect her, then and now.

Jupiter Point and the citizens of this little town are hysterical! Everything is named after a Constellation, star or planet. The people are just as crazy as some of the names. But, once you start reading about them, about the place, you can’t help but fall in love with it and everyone in it.

As for Ms. Bernard, well let’s just say that she definitely has a way with words. She knows how to bring levity into situations that you wouldn’t think there would be a way to. She knows how to be serious when the story calls for it. She knows how to write a story! She brings her characters to life and allows you to get to know them, fall in love with them and cheer them on. All-in-all, Jennifer Bernard will always be one of my go-to authors. Now, if she would just write a firefighter/baseball book, she would make a lot of people happy.

"You're aggravating me again."
"Yes, I can tell. Your eyes are all lit up like a backyard bonfire. It's turning me on."
"Fires turn you on?"
"No. That's all you, sweetness."

5 BLAZING STARS!!

I'm already in love with this new series by Jennifer Bernard!!
She knows how to write an amazing fireman book, and this just became one of my favorites!

Sean Marcus is the leader of a HotShot fire crew and he's taking on a new job back in his old hometown of Jupiter Point. The problem is, he didn't leave on the best of terms. A troublemaker from years ago is coming back to prove he's more than his past. But one look at the girl he left behind all those years ago has thinking other things.

Evie McGraw is the town's sweetheart. She's well respected and is a friend to everyone. But one night many years ago, her life was changed. She's held onto a secret all this time and she never expected it to come to light...until her past collided into her present in the most unexpected way.

"Sean really...just really did something to her, she realized with a sense of wonder. He made her feel safe and strong and sexy. Three things she wasn't used to feeling at all."

I love how this book wasn't just about a reunion between two characters starting a romance. It was a book about two people who were out to prove something of themselves.

One wanted to show they were more than just their family name and the mistakes of their past.
The other wanted to finally speak out for the first time and take charge of their life.

"From now on, there would be no keeping silent, no holding back, no half living. She was going to live her life even when it hurt."

I loved both Evie and Sean. They brought out the best in each other. They shared a past that connected them on a deeper level. Watching them fall for each other was really beautiful to see.

I also like the factor that this story had a serious undertone to it when it came to the secret they each kept. It brought an even stronger dynamic to the storyline. I enjoyed the way Jennifer played it all out through her words.

I'm so excited for the rest of this series because each secondary character that was introduced already has my attention! Whoop whoop!! Bring on more small town romance with some hunky firemen;)

Well done!

"Let's just take a breath for a moment. You know what we say her in Jupiter point. Remember to look at the stars."
"That's nice, but I have something even better to look at, baby."
"Do burnovers always make you so romantic?"
"I'm a rough-and-tough firefighter. Only one thing can make me romantic. You."

The town bad boy is back to clear his name

Firefighter Sean Marcus left Jupiter Point in disgrace, but now he’s coming home to clear his name. As the man in charge of setting up the new Jupiter Point Hotshots wildfire crew, he’s out to prove he’s no longer the troubled boy who fled after a night of violence. He’s back for one reason only--and it isn’t to fall in love.

The town sweetheart has a secret

Evie McGraw has never spoken about that night. But she can’t escape it, especially now that her brother’s wild friend Sean is back. Rugged, sexy and irresistible, he’s the only one who knows what happened. Evie put her life on hold to protect her family, but now, she has to make a choice. Keep silent…or put her heart on the line and let Sean help heal the past?

Review:

YEAH! A new series centering around firemen and women.

This is the new series by Ms. Bernard and it features a team of Hotshot fire fighters and their succumbing to love.

Sean comes off as a bad boy with his wild ways past and no fear attitude, but inside he has such a soft heart. He protected Evie years ago from being brutally attacked by another boy. And after a near death experience he goes back to Jupiter Point to prove he has changed. That first scene with the hot shots being over run by fire was exhilarating and tense.

Evie is a great character, she is strong but because of her past she tends to hide herself away, sexually and with her need to not cause confrontations. It was great to she her awaken sexually and standing up for herself after years of trying to hide the past.

We get to meet some of the other firefighters and residents of Jupiter Point, but the focus of the story is Sean and Evie and their dealing with their attraction, their pasts and families. It is the first book in the new series, so start now to get in on the excitement and romance.

Having been a fan/reader of several other Jennifer Bernard novels, I was hoping it would live up to what I pictured in my mind. I was NOT disappointed!!! This novel is the first in the series, so if you're looking for HOT, Sexy firefighters who likely find their HEA, don't look any further.

This novel is about how things in the past can change and influence your life forever. It's about taking control of your life and your past so that you can move past it and LIVE! When difficult situations occurred in Evie's life, she buried her head in the sand. She didn't want people to think badly of her and she didn't want to "make waves". She grew up in a family where nobody brought up anything that would cause a commotion. With a sick mom who is easily agitated, Evie worried that bringing up her painful past would cause her mom further stress. So she chose to ignore the situation--until Sean comes into town.....

Sean comes back to town to prove to them that he is NOT his dad, that he is a good man. He was hired to start up the new Hotshots crew for Jupiter Point. Sean thought coming back to town to do something positive and helpful to the community, would finally prove his worth. What he didn't expect, was Evie all grown up. He can't stay away from her, but feels undeserving of her love. Sean is the only one who truly knows Evie and her past. Will Evie risk upsetting her family and friends for a chance for her HEA???

I absolutely loved all the twists and turns at the end of this novel!!! I love the possibility of Suzanne and Josh....I can't wait for more novels in the Jupiter Point series!!!

Firefighter Sean Marcus was head of a hot shot crew that got caught in a wildfire. The team had to use their shelters while the fire passed over them. I could almost feel the fire when I was reading about it. During that fire, Sean makes a promise to himself to return to Jupiter Point and start a hot shot crew there. He left disgraced years ago after spending the night in jail. He was trying to save Evie McGraw from being attacked by the town's perfect son. She never spoke a word of that night to anyone. Flash forward 13 years and now Evie is all grown up and still hiding that secret. She's kept quiet all of these years to protect her family at the expense of her own mental health. Now Sean is back and tries to get her to see why she must come clean. This was a great start to a brand new series and I cannot wait to see how the additional stories play out.

Another great start to a new series by Jennifer Bernard!! I loved this one from start to finish. The characters were easy to relate to and the small town was fun to get to know. There was a lot of backstory that needed to be told to get the story developed, but it was done in a way that made sense and didn't give you an overwhelming feeling. We learned little pieces along the way of what happened when Evie and Sean were younger and still dealing with. Even if it was a bit predictable, it was so much fun to see it all play out. I love the humor thrown in and found myself smiling more times that I could count.

Looking forward to more in this series and can't wait to have Josh and Suzanne's book next!

Another great series from Jennifer Bernard! I don't know what it is about Jennifer Bernard's books but they literally grab you from the first page and before you know it you find yourself on the final page. In her latest series Jennifer introduces the readers to Jupiter Point. Will this town be able to handle a bunch of Hotshots (wildfire crew) in their town?

In Set the Night on Fire, we are introduced to Sean Marcus, the leader of the Hotshots. Why did this sexy bad boy leave Jupiter Point and more importantly will the town accept him back into their community? And will Sean even want to come back to a place that he clearly left for a reason?

Enter Evie McGraw. Clearly she shares some history with Sean. In fact, she was there the night that Sean left town. All grown up this town sweetheart is torn between a rock and a hard place. She clearly has some secrets of her own but how can she not follow her heart?

In this first book in the Jupiter Point series, you're introduced to a group of hotshot firefighters, with an emphasis on hot.
After surviving a fire, Sean Marcus makes a pledge to return to the town that took care of him after his parents died. Sean left Jupiter Point in a blaze of anger and he comes back to prove to everyone that he has grown up.
Evie McGraw is shocked when she hears Sean is back in town. Unfortunately for Evie, Sean knows the deep dark secret that she has kept from the town for thirteen years. Evie quickly realizes that Sean makes her feel the things that she has always wanted to experience, but first she has to let go of the secret that has kept her from truly living.
Together Sean and Evie are the spark that changes Jupiter Point forever.

Awesome story! Loved these characters and can't wait to read more in the Jupiter Point series! The writing and pace of the story are fantastic and the chemistry between Sean and Evie jumps from the pages. Couldn't put this one down.

Town bad boy Sean Marcus returns to Jupiter Point all grown up and ready to prove he's not the screw up the town once thought he was. His mission is to get a Hotshot wildfire crew up and running and nothing can get in his way. When Evie McGraw shows up as beautiful and sexy as ever he can't help but worry that she'll become a distraction. Staying away isn't an option though. These two have history. A history that needs to be set straight and healed over. And maybe, just maybe, move forward.

Don't miss the start of a great new series. I highly recommend it.

I loved this 1st book in Jennifer Bernards’s new series about the town of Jupiter Point. I’m a total sucker for small town romances and this one drew me in during the first chapter. Sean and Evie have great chemistry and a shared past that make for an interesting story line. I think each of the characters were well developed. I felt so upset for Evie after learning more about the “incident” and loved Sean even more with this reaction to the whole story. He is one great understanding man and Evie is one strong independent woman! I can’t wait to read more about the town’s other residents!

Jennifer Bernard is off to a great start with book 1 in her Jupiter Point series, Set the Night on Fire. The story grabs you right from page one and I found it difficult to put down. I fell in love with both Sean and Evie and really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop as they dealt with their pasts and coming to terms with it. Sean is the bad boy come back to town to prove himself while Evie is the hometown sweetheart who never wants to stir anything up. If you loved Jennifer’s other firefighter series, you will love her new series based around a Hotshot wildfire crew. We are introduced to some of them in this book and I look forward to reading their stories in future books. This book has everything- hot romance, sexy fireman, realistic characters, humor, and action. What more could you want?

I have read several other Jennifer Bernard books and have never been disappointed. That record continues. Jennifer has a way of enveloping you into the story. You are like one of the other characters in the story. I loved the story of Sean and Evie, their history, the current relationship and what the future holds for them. Jupiter Point sounds like an awesome place to visit. I can't wait to visit again with the next book in the Hot Shots series! I love authors that create characters with humor, real emotions and insecurities! And this book made me laugh out loud at times. Shed a tear or two as well. And it doesn't hurt the visuals she creates of those Hot Shot Firemen. Great book!

An awesome start to a new series by Jennifer Bernard. Can you say, smoke-in hot smoke jumpers have arrived in Jupiter Point. The only problem is that Sean left years ago on not so good feelings. Evie has harbored a secret for many years, but with Sean returning, she is able to finally put the past behind her and confront her fears. Sean does not do love and Evie does not trust. They can't put their mutual sizzling chemistry on the back fire though, believe me things are hot between the two!!

Jennifer has upped her sizzling romance to hot! Great characters that show so much emotion for each other and not afraid to stand up for them. I'm already in love with this small town of Jupiter Point, can't wait to read more of the smoke jumpers.

Welcome back to Jupiter Point. Jennifer Bernard has written the 2nd book in her Jupiter Point series and back to her firefighter roots. This time we are swept back to the tiny town of Jupiter Point and we meet bad boy returning home, Sean Marcus. He has been given the job of being the new supervisor to the newly created Jupiter Point Hotshots Wildfire Team and he jumps at the chance to prove he can do this job.

When he gets back to Jupiter Point he sees Evie McGraw and thirteen years melt away. He was there the night that Evie wants to forget about but he doesn't know the whole truth of what happened that night but he took the fall to protect Evie. What will happen when he learns the truth about what happened that fateful night? Can Evie and Sean see past the nightmares of thirteen years ago and make it work.

As usual I love Jennifer's books and this one is no different. I can't wait to read more adventures in Jupiter Point. I have been given the opportunity to receive an advance review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Jennifer for another great read. Keep them coming.

Wow! That was one smoking hot, sweet, and sexy start to the new Jupiter Point series by Jennifer Bernard! I couldn't put this one down. Sean was the typical single, no relationship guy, with a few past issues to deal with. Evie was the town sweetheart with secrets that eventually had to come out. But they had some serious chemistry, and it took some soul-searching for both of them to find their HEA. Nicely done, Ms. Bernard. Cannot wait for Josh & Suzanne's story!
