It all make science math physics and the universe as a whole. GODS divine order. Amazement !! Amusement !! Now I see a wider profound understanding of all things under the sun. Our small role in the story of creation.
I love it and cant put it down.

Each number represent God something about His name or what it has to do with creation. It proves nothing done in creation was by evolution. God had a purpose for everything that was created. I would have preferred the hard back version better it was easier to read & understand.

This book is amazingly helpful to the serious Bible student. If we believe that every word in Scripture comes from God through man. Then the numbers are significant. Check out what they mean.
I have been using this book for years. Glad to be able to get it digitally.

It's obvious to every Bible reader that certain numbers appear again and again and seem to take on a certain meaning and life of their own. An understanding of how numbers like 7, 10, 12, and 40 are used throughout the Bible is indispensible when it comes to interpreting difficult apocalyptic books such as the Revelation to John. Bullinger looks at each number and the contexts it is used in and assesses the general impression that is left, and he has many fine insights in this regard.

At the same time, the useful material here could be condensed into 50 pages or less, and most of what you find here is superstitious - endless and seemingly arbitrary studies of how many times any given word appears, and the ancient superstitious practice of "Gematria" (assigning numeric values to letters [a=1, b=2, c=3, etc.] and then adding up the numbers in any particular word to assign that word a numeric value), and then seeking the "hidden" numerical significance of any given word. The problem here is that the Bible's a great big book and a person can make the hidden significance whatever they want it to be when assigning random number values to letters, and picking and choosing the samples they want the reader to see. The Bible certainly doesn't give any credence to that sort of tedious, time-consuming nonsense and we're reminded of Paul's exhortation to Timothy not to "devote [ourselves] to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith" (1:14).

There is some good stuff here, but this book, like all books, should be judged by the Bible and not the other way around.

Bullinger seems to have spent an enormous amount of time looking at the number of times a word has appeared and gives significance to the frequency. I could not agree with his interpretations or much of this thesis but did find the study fascinating and learnt some useful things. I do not recommend the book.

Great book, this kind of stuff is powerful, I also have enjoyed the work of Ivan Panin.
I have a question though. On page 107, of the edition with red cover, there seems to be a mathematics mistake, or I'm a dumby! Probably the later. Anyway it indicate s at the middle of the page that: "...392 is 72 +73. It then goes on and says ...." Or 8 times the square of 7 (72x8)
What is the square if 7? (49/right) so I'm confused on 2 counts. Help! Thanks

I loved Teavana until, and for the third time, they discontinued one of my favorite teas. It just aggravated me. However, they still had my very favorite, jasmine dragon Phoenix pearls. I decided to take a chance and order them elsewhere because it was a better deal. I was NOT disappointed. It was just as good as Teavana but the price was right! It's an excellent tea, you can't go wrong with it... along with German rock cane sugar, it's the perfect way to start and end your day!

I have found that reference books on Kindle are almost impossible to manuver. You have to read the whole book to find what you are looking for. As example in Number in Scripture and others you have no way of looking up a specific number or topic. You have to go through the whole book to find what you are looking for and many times miss it. I wish there was a way that you could click on the table of contents and be able to go right where you want to go. I have been very disappointed with all the reference material offered on Kindle for that reason. If anyone has a better idea of how to manuver through it, please let me know.

Edit, 3/1/18: I've now skimmed the book. If you're not familiar with this guy, look him up in Wikipedia to get an overview. Because some of his doctrinal views are discredited, he gets too little attention re this book. It is seminal. Not much work has been done on the numeracy in Scripture, and ALL the scholarship on Bible dates is partly or wholly wrong, as a consequence. Pity no one followed up on his ideas here, whether wrong or right. HIS METHOD IS RIGHT. Incomplete, as even he acknowledges in the Preface, but still the method is right.

He starts out simply, on '7', which in Hebrew means PROMISE, hence WEEK is the PROMISE of rest at the end, to remind you of God's Plan. He doesn't dwell on that meaning, but it's rampant in Scripture, and most pastors know that. It's vital for the 490 which he barely reviews, but he gets the essential meaning of 490 as PROMISE TIME, which all the other scholars miss (even my pastor just repeated essentially what Bullinger said, didn't develop it). It's the most important thing to know, actually. All Bible dates hub to the 490, as the graphic below (of Isaiah 53 in Hebrew), shows. Debits and Credits off 490. That was what he was trying to do with Abraham and Jerusalem, Exodus, and he gets the math partly wrong. But it's the RIGHT IDEA.

That's the most important thing about this book. He's ON THE RIGHT TRACK OF HOW AND WHY. Little did he know that every SYLLABLE (again see graphic I attached) is METERED so you can know the ACTUAL WORDS the writer wrote. Little did he know that all the dates hub to the 490s, not just the ones he was trying to demo.

Further, he also gets right the IDEA that the number of REPETITIONS of a word, matter. In Greek this repeating is called 'anaphora', and it's absolutely vital to TIMED PROPHECY, which he and others didn't know about but exists; but he suspected it, as do other scholars before and after him, all trying to learn the METER since at least, John Knox. I'll put an example in the comments, since I can't put links in this review. That example will show a 2,000+ ANNUAL PROPHECY which interlocks 6 NT chapters, from 30AD to 3243AD, 2000 years of which I could prove accurate for the topic the prophecy covers (when believers go salty or saltless). Scholars don't even know this exists. But if they had been paying better attention to Bullinger's methods, they'd have found it before I (mistakenly) did (graphic below was the first passage I found it in).

So he started his book on simple things like 7 and how that's reflected in Nature, along with 3 and other key numbers, to show DESIGN which BIBLE reflects. In Part II, beginning on p.48 of the book, he spends a lot of time referencing the NUMBER of TIMES a word is in the Bible, to show the NUMBER is intentional, itself conveying doctrinal information about the meaning of the word, pan-Bible. Some of his assessments are wrong, but you can see how he got them, and just correct. Again, this is extremely important, and although every Bible scholar knows to count how many times a word is used, they don't really do the legwork he does in his tome, here. Learn the method, if you want to unlock Bible connections you'd otherwise miss.

I use Bibleworks, which pastors use. It can do these searches in seconds. This guy had to do it by hand and memory, taking months if not years to figure out. And he likely messed up on some counts. But again, his METHOD is what you learn from the book, and it's a good one. So that's why you should buy the book.

You can get it free on pdf, link will be in the comments. But unless you have a full pdf reader, you can't do the kinds of things Kindle allows. The Kindle version can't handle the Hebrew. The pdf doesn't either, just has Anglicised consonants with odd marks like dollar signs, sometimes. I don't know about the print editions. The Greek is okay in Kindle and pdf. You can load the latter in ePrestigio for Android and have it read aloud, or use Chrome with the link in the comments and the ReadAloud app, to hear it. This is mostly a reference book so not much reading aloud, is tolerable. Most of the text is citation.

In short, this is a book you want to use whenever you're reading dates or numbers in Bible, to see their doctrinal linkages. And no, he doesn't cover all the numerical meanings. But once you see what he does cover and his METHOD, you can easily find the other meanings for the numbers he doesn't mention. HINT: the most important numbers are divisible by 7. For repeated terms in prophecies, the DISTANCE in syllable counts, are ALWAYS divisible by 7; which means, deliberately worded to hit those very years, to BENCHMARK periods in history. It's awesome, how preserved Bible is. Link in comments will provide an example.

Edit, 2/28/18: The book's got errors in math and in doctrine, i.e., thinking Christ only died hours after Gethesemane garden, p.52 of pdf/book. But no one gets it all right, so you read for the right bits, and discard or correct the wrong bits.

he gets the 490s wrong because he gets the dates wrong, early in the First Part, but ****YES KNOWS that Bible reckons time in 490s***. (Scrap Hagee, too, who backdates from Israel's founding in 20th century, totally wrong.)

****So this is the first guy I've found in the past who noticed (as you'll see in the pic of Isa53 below), that YES GOD RECONCILES TIME in 490-year increments.**** What happened to the other scholars that they missed this idea? EVERYONE knows this book, I just learned. You can just google to get pdf download, so it's not like this was unknown!

If you know anyone else in the past who did, please let me know? See my GeneYrs.xls worksheet for the actual BIBLE dates BIBLE (not scholars) use, cuz Bible only reconciles by solar years, never 360 nor lunar.

I did just buy the Kindle edition but I want to get hardback because of the Hebrew problem mentioned below. Original review earlier today, follows.

What I can tell you for sure, because I have been researching it for the last 10 years, is that the entire Bible is metered based on those numbers, and in particular based on factors of 7, starting in Genesis and going through Revelation. The meaning of Bible numbers has been well taught but I can't find anybody else who put it in writing until now in this book. My pastor taught it for 50 years and I am well schooled in the meaning but again this book saves a lot of time.

To see how vital it is, go to YouTube, look up my 'Matt24' playlist, start at the 42nd video: it takes you through the meter mechanics, then documents the fact that Scholars have tried to find this meter for 500 years. Video's docs are downloadable, and you can test the meanings yourself. I have not altered the docs in light of Bullinger's book. Yet.

Once I figure out how to explain it better, I may commercialize the material. But right now it is not copyrighted and is free to anybody who reads it.

This book is really really really important. If you have questions you can reach me as 'brainouty' in Twitter.

A wonderful resource for anyone reading and studying the Bible. I've always known that there are numbers in everything. However, when you see the Creators hand in the scriptures and words and know what the numerical value is of words and meanings, you can understand and appreciate how much influence numbers have on what you say and read!

Numbers in Scripture is an intellectually stimulating yet readable source of reference, examining in a variety of contexts from the Bible, the significance of numbers, their patterns and their symbolism.

Underpinned by a wealth of biblical references, (linked for example, to names, periods of time, usage of words, tribes, governments, judgement etc.) this biblical study will enhance your understanding of the Bible; yielding valuable insights into its structure and its rich symbolism... and I'm writing, by the way, as someone who believes in the literal truth of all events recorded in the Bible.

Bullinger's work is divided into two sections: Part 1 - Supernatural Design (Subdivided into two chapters entitled 'The Works of God' and 'The Word of God'); and Part 2 Spiritual Significance, exploring the significance of each number used in the Bible.

In Bullinger's own words in the Preface, 'May the result of this contribution ... be to stimulate the labours of Bible students to strengthen beliebvers in their most holy faith; and to convince doubters of the Divine perfection and inspiration of the Book of Books to the praise and glory of God.'

Numbers in Scripture and in creation aren't haphazard. They were created by a God of grace as proof of His existence and omnipotence. If you are skeptical, read on.

For me this book confirmed my faith as a Christian and in the infallible Word of God. Dr. Bullinger, whom I call God's genius, shows throughout the book the undeniable fact that the Bible is the true and inspired Word of God and that God's creation is also numerically perfect. Here is an example of the numerical imprint of the lowly bee taken from the book:

"In the case of the BEE, it is the number three which pervades its phenomena--

In three days the egg of the queen is hatched.
It is fed for nine days (3x3).
It reaches maturity in 15 days (5x3).
The worker grub reaches maturity in 21 days (7x3).
And is at work three days after leaving its cell.
The drone matures in 24 days (8x3).
The bee is composed of three sections,-- head and two stomachs.
The two eyes are made up of about 3,000 small eyes, each (like the cells of the comb) having six sides (2x3).
Underneath the body are six (2x3) wax scales with which the comb is made.
It has six (2x3) legs. Each leg is composed of three sections.
The foot is formed of three triangular sections.
The antennae consist of nine (3x3) sections.
The sting has nine (3x3) barbs on each side.
Is this design? or is it chance? Why should it be the number three instead of any other number? No one can tell. We can only observe the wondrous working of supernatural laws, and admire the perfection of design."

How in the world can anyone think that a bee was created by a chaotic big bang with this type of information?

For those interested in end time prophecy, Dr. Bullinger also explains the number of the beast,666. It was a real eye opener for me.

Buy the book. It will increase your faith.

P.S. My name is Deborah, the Hebrew Word for 'bee'. I was born on 9/3/19?). Is this by chance or design? :) I don't know but it certainly gives me a chuckle.

Wow I've been searching for a book like this for years! I always wondered about numbers in the Bible! I would recommend this book for any inquiring mind! I'm now more than ever aware of the spiritual significance of the numbers in the bible. I loved it so much I bought the kindle edition....although that ended up being a bad move...the kindle edition's text was crazy misaligned and jumbled; I'd stick to the old fashioned book!

This book is incredible! What detail & foreknowledge is involved in the inspired word of God. If you think the Bible is a masterpiece now you will not be disappointed after reading "Number in Scripture." It brought home to me how little we actually conceptualize about the workings of God.

Not only that, but it also helps with finding significance and greater meaning and understanding in scripture.

I had not read up on this subject before & found it truly inspiring.

Bullinger shows the magnificent orderliness of the Word of the Creator. The book shows how God (YHWH) uses numbers to symbolize various concepts. Each number is always used to show the same concept throughout the entire 66 books. The number 7 is a good place to begin study as it is emphasized. Certain names and words are repeated 7 times throuhout the 66 books even though various men set down the words to paper. Only the Holy Spirit could have designed such order. No man nor computer could have produced such results. Bullinger gives many examples. He provides the original Greek and Hebrew texts in his examples.

E.W. Bullinger was truly a man 'before his time". In this work he unravels, numerous numerical mysteries from the scripture. Here one understands that numbers aren't always merely for the purpose of counting. Many numeral references have much deeper meanings than one should take at "face value". I challenge every serious Bible student to read this book!

I have been searching for this book for some years, and finally found it here, in print still. Bullinger shows thru numerical values, gematria, and other mathematical means that "the Bible has but one Author...carrying out His own infinite plans". He makes the mathematician love the scriptures and the religious love math. One of my favorite parts is when he is explaining Dr. Milo Mahan's work on the principle of number 8 and number 13, and he gets passionate with the validity of the Bible, as over and over he demonstrates with gematria that every single name of the Lord's people are multiples of 8 and every one who were His enemies, are multiples of 13. It is one of the only books of its genre that wasn't exclusively written for Jews.

The patterns of numbers in the Bible...wow. Truly amazing. There is no way that there isn't a Designer to this incredible creation that we live in. Great book for anyone wanting to delve deeper into God's story.

This book was instrumental in understanding numbers as they apply to spiritual significance. God unfolded a story in my life and numbers were His way of communicating timing. This book helped me to understand God's numbers. A friend of mine ordered the book for me. I had shared with him numbers and timing that were being revealed. My friend stated the moment he took the book in his hands from the sales clerk who handed it to him, he heard the words "that's Lavon's book." This book does not read as a novel. It took me a couple of readings of different passage to understand its depth. I think the book is wonderful in that it reveals God's order and preciseness. This book was instrumental in my writing my book, thus it was "Lavon's book."

This is not a book on numerology which is a false religion, this is exactly what the title says - this is a book about numbers in the scriptures. Anything that God creates can be perverted for an evil purpose, this is not what this book is about. This book shows the intelligent design of the Scriptures by showing the supernatural intelligent use of numbers in the Scriptures as well as in nature. If you want to read this book it won't take you much time. If you want to truly study this book, it could take you a year. Great book!

Don't miss reading the book along with the Bible. Some of the tidbits in this book are worth a king's ransom, such as where 360 degrees came from, why there are 12 zodiac signs, why certain numbers are used in the Bible, etc. The book helps in making the Bible fun to read.

This is a wonderful book. It is full of keys to understanding scripture. It is also a powerful resource for faith building. It is easy to understand. Although, as Bullinger writes, no book by a man that seeks to elucidate the scriptures is perfect, as is the scripture, this book indicates how perfect God's Word is.

For some it may come as a surprise but the Hebrew language didn’t have Arabic numerals like we do today. Instead, the ancients used each Hebrew letter to represent a specific number. E.W. Bullinger was one of the first English authors to show that when applied to the Old Testament Scriptures there was additional order and design within the Hebrew text.

Anyone familiar with the Scriptures knows that numbers have significance in the Scripture. Weather it is the evil 666, the 153 fishes caught in the apostles net, or the 6 days of labor and the 7th or rest, the Bible uses numbers to convey symbolism, purpose and ideas. Even nature shows such order as in the colors of a rainbow, the order of the elements, or Fibonacci sequence so apparent in natural world around us.

If you are interested in numbers and seeing the fingerprint of our Creator inside the written word or in the created world around us I think you’ll find Number in Scripture will provide you hours of enjoyable reading. Get a copy and then open your Bible as a Berean and see if there is indeed any truth to the Numbers in Scripture.
