this book does not have tear out sheets so it isn't as easy to use. it is a small book but for the price it is ok. if you are just looking for something for you child to get some extra practice with this would for and at an inexpensive price

Very simple exercises to help a child that can't quite read yet learn to focus on the sounds each letter makes and to hear those sounds in the words they use every day. My toddler loves that it came with gold stars for her to earn by completing each page.
On the first day she received the book she did 20 pages of her own freewill.

I thought I was going to get a workbook that would introduce my 4-year-old to sounds. Basically, there are two worksheets that just get repeated over and over for each of the 26 letters. For example, on one page you might see 6 objects and the directions ask the child to circle the object with the letter at the top of the page. There might be three objects that start with the letter, and so the child circles them. I thought that this page was cool the first time that we did it, but it was super boring the third time, and we didn't even make it after that. In addition, it is hard to tell what a lot of the pictures are. For example, I would ask my son why he didn't circle a particular object and he would say "girl" doesn't start with "d"! Even though I think the picture was supposed to be a "doll". Oh well.

So to sum up, this was an awful purchase. I am surprised the reviews on the store are so good.

I use this book for my kindergarten student as part of our homeschool routine. While it's not difficult, it does offer a fun way to learn about phonics and letter sounds without doing the same exercise over and over. And he gets to add a sticker to the chart in the back of the book for each page he completes. Definitely a great find, I'll have to find more from them since he's begging to do more than the assigned work from the book.

We have a lot of workbooks that we have been using for my kindergartener (and maybe that's the problem) because this one seemed super easy. We flew through the book in just a few days. The exercises were very repetitive (just a change in the letter) and were not that challenging. For a book focused on phonics, my hope was that it would have exercises more substantial and interesting than the multi-subject books - and that just wasn't the case.

I didnt like this book. Its the same assignment every page!!!! I was expecting more diverse approach... based on the cover, I also expected more writing practice. But all the assignments were pretty much limited to "circle all pictures that start with letter "..."
I think this book is only suitable for kids around 2 years old. My daughter is 4, and for us this book i useless.

This is a really nice book; however, if your pre-schooler/kindergartener knows their letter sounds, you may be wasting your time. I was looking for more of a transition into reading. My younger pre-schooler could definitely benefit from this, but if your child has done any work with sounding out words or letters, I really think a more advanced book would be a better idea. If you're just looking for something to reinforce letter sounds, then this is great! Again, really nice book, just really not what I was looking for. The gold stars are great, though!

This book was pretty easy. I got it to help reinforce and practice with my 6 year old at the beginning of her first grade year. She struggles with phonics and reading. We decided to homeschool last year and I got this book when we started to try and help her review and understand a little bit better before moving on to harder and more complicated work. She needed a bit more practice and this served us well. It's not too difficult and it reinforced the words and concepts for her well. It helped her with reading and remembering words. It wasn't too easy for her, but it wasn't as hard as the first grade curriculum stuff I had for her. So this helped prepare her for that. We worked through the book kind of quickly and we're on to harder lessons. Great for practice.

Great phonics book for beginners. My son enjoyed working through this books. Lots of repetition but not too much so that it was boring. My son learned all his letter sounds with this book and is now starting to put three letter words together. I would definitely recommend this. I even purchased another for my daughter for when she is ready to learn her letter sounds. Great book

My 4 year old loves this work book! It is helping her grasp letter sound concepts, and connecting them to letters themselves! Also, I find that the progress star page is a major motivator for little ones.

I was a kindergarten teacher and a preschool teacher, and I found this book to be perfect for practicing phonics! My daughter will be going to kindergarten in 3 months and I have been doing preschool with her at home. My daughter already knows her letters and is learning the sounds they make. This book is all about reinforcing letter sounds (as in circle the pictures that begin with the /b/ sound, etc). It's perfect for our preschool homeschooling purposes and my daughter loves getting the gold stars!

I love this book. My daughter is able to do amazing progress with it, by playing exclusively with the phonics aspect of the alphabet. Great idea with the stickers, she loves getting a sticker every time she is done with a page. She likes this book to the point that she thinks it's a nice 'game' to play. The only con I have, is that I would have loved it better if it was using CAPITAL letters.

As my child was getting bored with his flash cards, this was a great tool to engage him in his phonetic learning. It really boosted his confidence in his abilities and gave him just the push he need to try reading harder books. And- his writing has improved tremendously. He blasted right thru this workbook and is asking for another one. Happy Kid! Happy Parent! ☺

My 5 year old loves this book. He sits down and does 10 pages or more at a time. The pictures are cute and it helps him recognize the sounds that each item begins with. He starts Kindergarten in a few weeks and I think this will help get him started with learning to read. I would recommend this as a fun "homework" book. My little guy is not the type to search out books, but he looks forward to doing this. It has been helpful for us.

My four year old loves doing the work in this book. It's fun, super simple and really engaging but i'm finding that there are letters missing. immediately there was no A, now i'm seeing no E. Two letters which can be phonetically confusing and i would have liked to see more about them. So that's disappointing, i'm not sure if i got a misprinted book or what.

My son has been doing about 5 pages per day. He absolutely loves the activities this book has to offer. It's a great buy for the price. My son has already learned to recognize so many new letters since we got the book.

This is a great workbook for young kids. My grandson just started Kindergarten and I got it for him. He loves to work in and thinks it's fun and it is helping him learn in a way he's enjoying. I definitely recommend this workbook.
