Annika Martin knows how to write a romantic comedy. Henry is so dominating and intense, but Vicky provides the humor and softness. They have so much in common, but it's their differences that make them perfect for each other. They challenge each other to drop their masks and show different sides of themselves. Henry is used to getting his way, so Vicky is a breath of fresh air. Vicky left the vibrant girl she used to be in the past, but she misses her. Henry helps her find that lost girl and helps her turn that girl into a woman. This was an amazing read and a must read from A.M.

Most Eligible Billionaire: an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy by Author Annika Martin

I was really enjoying this book until I got about half way through. It is funny, creative and every time I put it down, I couldn't wait to get back to it until I got turned off with the content. There was profanity which I didn't care for but the explicit sex made me give up finishing the book. Too bad because I was really enjoying the banter between Victoria and Henry and the cute story line.

This story grabbed me when I first read the blurb, but after reading it I have to say, it’s a bit of a misnomer calling it a romantic comedy. Sure there were some funny moments, but most of this story was way too serious to call it a comedy.
Vicky is a girl with a secret, a huge, horrible secret that she never wants to see the light of day ever again. Her past is mired in controversy and lies, things that forced her to run away from her hometown when she was just a teenager. She took her little sister with her and never look back. She changed her name, her looks… everything to escape her former life.
Years later, she’s settled into her life in New York, she has her own Etsy store, friends and her little sister is safe from all the horrors they left behind. She meets Henry in a exclusive hospice where she’s visiting a dying friend, a bitter older woman she met a while back when she helped out a friend. She’d reluctantly agreed to pretend to be a dog whisperer at the local street fair where she first met Bernadette, and her toy Maltese dog, Smuckers. The two had become unlikely friends due to Bernadette’s insistence.
Henry is surprised to find Vicky in his mom’s room but thinks she’s trying to scam her. Nothing Vicky says will change his mind. He’s been estranged from his mother for years and now she’s dying, he doesn’t have time for ‘grifters’.
Both think they’ll never set eyes on each other again, but Henry’s mom made sure that wasn’t the case. Events cause them both to have to interact with the other and neither is prepared for their reactions.
This is a slow burning story with lots of twists but once the heat is switched on it’s intense.
Henry is seriously hot, but has a sweet, caring side that he hides initially but as the two get closer he lets more of it show. Vicky is tormented by her past, but slowly Henry breaks through her defences and she gives him glimpses into the turmoil that afflicts her mind.
I really loved this story and the way it unfolded. It was sweet at times, and other heartrendingly painful. I was rooting for Vicky from the start. Henry was a bit of a d*** initially but soon grew on me. The secondary characters were well fleshed out and interesting to read as well. Overall, a great story with a lovely ending.

Most Eligible Bastard by Annika Martin is a love story between a wealthy businessman, Henry Locke; a jewelry designer, Vicky Nelson.
Vicky is surviving and making her way in New York with her 16 year old sister, Carly. Vicky had fled to New York, escaping a terrifying moment in her young life and is hiding with her younger sister, under false identities and documents. She pretends to be someone she isn’t –which is a dog whisperer as a favor to a friend and she ends up with one Bernadette Locke as her stalker. This old lady was downright relentless in her pursuit in wanting Vicky to act as her little dog Smuckers “dog whisperer”. Finally Vicky gave up and gave in because she felt so bad for her and started to be her dog whisperer because she seemed so alone, since she gave the impression she really didn’t have family that cared for her, including her son who seemingly has abandoned her. What ends up happening is the old woman dies and leaves her dog in control of Locke Industries but Vicky will hold guardianship of those shares. Cue the battle and hostile feelings between Henry and Vicky. Slowly but surely it seems things start to work out between Henry because he starts to see the real Vicky, the scared and afraid young woman but there is Brett who is one of the board members who has his own agenda and is very hostile to Vicky. Vicky herself has a deep hatred for rich men and I love how the author showed why she did and how she painted the picture in such detail yet contrasted how Vicky was overcoming that with Henry. Henry is very determined to get back his birthright so he does things he think will get him back what he wants the most yet he comes to realize he could lose the thing he has come to love the most==Vicky. There is a scene in the book where Vicky comes to a shattering realization of what has gone on-that she has been played for a fool and I cried for over 30 minutes because I felt the pain like it had happened to me. What a phenomenal bit of writing by Ms. Martin. I had to get up and walk away from my kindle because I wanted to harm Henry and he wasn’t even a real character. This story was such an emotional rollercoaster with humor and passion along with heartbreak. It is an enemies to lovers story that takes you from the lighthearted to the deeply emotional love story with bits of humor , sassy heroine, jerky hero who redeems himself and a passionate love story. Oh this story has it all and I have to say, I was never bored, never wanted this story to end. I would love to see Brett get a story along with Vicky’s sister Carly. These are some secondary characters that stood out to me as needing a book written for them.

My Rating: 4.7 stars *****

I've popped my Annika Martin cherry!! this was my first time reading from this author and the story was beyond wonderful, I LOVED!! My previous read had been so dark that this really lifted my spirits with it's humour and romance.

Vicky is in her twenty's but for only being so young she's been through so much and on top of everything she has custody of her sixteen year old sister. They are just trying to get long in life and make the best of where they are right now.

She never in her wildest dream think she would become a kind of dog whisperer! Albeit not her choice and has repeatedly told the cranky old lady stalking her that she's not. What Bernadette wants Bernadette gets and nothing and nobody will stand in her way. Her dog Smuckers is her life and feels Vicky can help her communicate to him. Bernadette is dying and she has made Vicky promise to take care of Smuckers. Vicky promises and even takes the dog to visit her in hospital. As much as the cranky old lady pushes her buttons. Vicky can't help but feel sorry for Bernadette and show her care and compassion.

Henry Locke is the estranged Son of Bernadette. When he walks in on some woman talking on behalf of a dog he can't help but think that this woman is a con artist!! She maybe pleading her innocence that she's just to care for Smuckers and be a sort of friend to Bernadette but all Henry can see is that this woman is a grifter. He's even more livid when this woman and dog turn up to the reading of the will. And is told that she is the care of Smuckers who now owns 51% of Locke industries!!!!

Vicky is shocked beyond belief she always thought Bernadette was a little nutty but never did she think that she was the wealthiest nutty lady around. And things have just got a whole lot crazier now she has to speak on behalf of a dog in the corporate world where everyone is out for her.

Vicky and Henry come together in some absolutely hilarious moments. They butted heads on more than one occasion with great chemistry and banter. There was also some very touching and heartbreaking moments within this Rom-Com giving us a very well rounded read.

Most Eligible Bastard was a very original book, with lots of humour, well written with captivating characters and a very strong storyline. I adored this book and am very impressed with this author. Can't wait to look for more books from Annika Martin

Vicky Nelson never claimed she was really a dog whisperer, but when a wealthy woman won't take no for an answer, she humors her... harmlessly. But being a companion for a dying woman lands Vicky in a position she never wanted to be in... and the focus of the rich and ruthless.

Henry Locke will not lot a scammer take him and his family company down. He will stop at nothing to bring Vicky down. But, what Henry didn't count on was Vicky being the kind of woman who isn't so easily persuaded... or seduced...

Vicky has been through a bad situation when she was younger which fuels her distrust for wealthy and influential people. After years of avoiding any situation where she would be in the media or around people she distrusts, she is suddenly thrust into a role she has no desire to be a part of. That is, until they start to push her around...

I loved this book! Vicky is a smart, strong, hilarious and extremely capable woman. She was quick to catch on to any situation she was in and never fell for any of the backhanded things the Locke's threw at her. Henry starts out as seeming like an egotistical jerk... well, he is one... but you learn to love him for it! There was so much more to his character that meets the eye, and when he and Vicky start to hit it off, their relationship makes perfect sense.

The storyline was fresh and interesting and the writing was simply fantastic. The characters were done so well, they multifaceted and vastly entertaining. Vicky and Henry have plenty of steamy sex scenes and a witty repertoire I couldn't get enough of. I seriously enjoyed everything about this book!

Most Eligible Bastard takes the enemies to lovers trope to a whole new level! This story was just FUN from the moment that Vicky and Henry meet in his dying mother's hospital room. I know, I know. Dying mother's hospital room isn't the standard Meet Cute. But it works. It sets the stage for a hilarious romantic comedy that has a toy Maltese and a jewelry designer running an international conglomerate.

The author does a great job of describing Vicky's hatred of fancy rich guys because of an incident in her past, as well as the lack of love Henry felt at the hands of his mother. It sets the perfect stage for these adversaries to find a common ground in a place they never expected to find it. As Vicky is bound and determined to not be pushed around by Henry, he is just as determined to get his birthright back. The tentative friendship that Henry and Vicky build gives them a foundation for something more, but by the time they actually get there, and are falling for one another, his actions and manipulations break them them apart.

The scene where Vicky realizes what Henry did actually made me weepy and feel the punch in the gut! But how he goes about making things right is absolutely swoon-worthy!

This was a cleverly and brilliantly crafted romantic comedy. It was, at times, hilariously funny and off-the-charts hot! I loved the premise, each character, and delivery of emotions and the story. From the first page, the author had me hooked! I literally could not put it down until I got to the last page. I was seriously sleep deprived from staying up all night reading. And I was so very sad to see Henry and Vicky's story come to an end.

I was drawn to the history of the characters and the hilarity of their situation. Vicky provided the perfect adversary to Henry’s need for control and animosity toward his mother. The stubbornness and tension between these two was epic, as was their natural affinity for one another once they began spending time together and the ease with which they fell into friendship and then love. The author did a fabulous job of weaving Henry and Vicky's stories together, finding commonalities within their artistic abilities and interests, and building their trust. And while she included the necessary elements for a proper split and reconciliation, I was so grateful that she avoided too much angst within their journey.

I need to mention that it is critical to be able to separate the characters attitudes and responses to each other since, as a reader, we have the full picture. There were moments where I wanted to shake Henry out of his anger and suspicion; however, he had reason to doubt Vicky's innocence. Thankfully, the author gave us the dual POV, which allowed us to fully understand both characters experiences and behavior.

It's rare that I include a quote from any books I review, but I couldn't leave it without this favorite of mine.

“People have reactions to each other, just like chemicals do. Some blend. Some layer. But some transform each other—they fizz and bubble right out of their containers. That’s Henry and me—something about him gets me reacting—pulse too fast, skin too tight. Wanting to spar. Something. Anything.”

Loved Most Eligible Bastard it had me entertained through out the story not a dull moment plus we get lovable characters , story line that had me on the edge of my seat , witty banter , and a dog that steals the show . When I read the blurb it called to me the plot sounded so refreshing my first thought was "a dog whisperer and a eligible bastard hmmmm I must have it like NOW and when this baby hit my kindle I devoured it like that cue finger snap " . Lets just say the couples first meeting doesn't go so well he thought she was a con artist after his mothers money she thought he was a rich A hole who has a hatred for dogs but as they get to know one another and learn that not everything is what they seem by them sharing things that they haven't told anyone and doing selfless acts . Vicky is a beautiful heroine not only on the outside but inside as well when we learn the thing that she's been hiding and the reasoning of her hatred of rich people my heart just broke for her adore the relationship she has with her sister and would do anything for the ones she holds close to her heart . Now Henry took some time to fall for but with the little things he does for Vicky while also getting his point of view to see the passion he has for his business and his workers is truly amazing . When they get together be prepared for a cold shower because these two can heat up your kindles but sometimes there is funny moments like the " Smuckers incident ". This is a fun and sexy read that you don't want to miss out on one click right away .

When a furry little maltese comes into Vicky's life she has no idea that it is about to turn her carefully planned world upside down... what starts as a dog walking gig for her little sister turns into something far more extravagant and taxing! The Maltese's owner, Bernadette, has fallen ill and makes Vicky promise that she will care for her precious pup after she passes, and Vicky reluctantly agrees, not realizing that Bernadette has a larger plan in place for her. Now she finds herself sitting around a boardroom table, with the precious pup in her lap, and Bernadette's son zoned in on her, thinking she is after the family fortune and he is ready to fight her every step of the way. And Vicky just sits there wondering what in the world she has just gotten herself into...

The moment Henry waltz's into his mother's hospital room and sees the cooky woman telling her nonsense about her precious maltese he is madder than a hornet, of course she is praying on his ill mother, and after the family fortune that should rightfully be his... but little does he know she knows nothing about it! When he finds out his mother has left the fortune to her little dog, and the cooky woman who he thinks swindled her, he is out for blood...but winds up finding a whole lot more than he bargained for!!

Most Eligible Bastard is quite the little literary gem, between the pages of this one you will find many laughable moments, toe curling moments, and moments that will squeeze your heart! This was my first literary adventure with this author, and I have to say I am quite impressed with what she had to offer, her sexy little story was sweet and oh so naughty... just how I like my reads!! This one had a wide array of eccentric characters that kept me well entertained from start to finish, who knew a little maltese could be so entertaining!! Highly recommend this one, it will give you the feels, have you laughing throughout, and leave your heart happy!!

This book had me hooked from start to finish. Most Eligible Bastard is a hot, fun read. I mean come on how can you say no to a dog whisperer. The characters have great chemistry and there’s a twist in the story that you don’t see coming.

Vicky is a woman that lives her life guarded from everything and everyone else because of her past. She doesn’t want to go thru the same thing. She hates rich entitle people. She has a great heart and because of that she acts as a dog whisper to an old lady Bernadette just to see her happy, what’s the harm in that, right?
Well little does she know that this lady and her dog where gonna change her life.

Henry is Bernadette son and now that she has passed away he never expects to have to answer to Smuckers the dog and his guardian Vicky on any business matter.
He hates this decision his mother took and he is gonna do anything to get them out of his way.
But what happens when he can’t stop thinking about Vicky and her smart mouth. She doesn’t back down to him and that intrigues him. But Henry doesn’t do relationships, but everything can change.

Annika delivers a great story, so fun to read with enough mystery, twists and hot scenes to keep you entertained.
I was hooked from the beginning, it made me laugh out loud and made me sweat. Do your self a favor and grab this book is so much fun. You can’t say no to a hot guy and a tiny dog.

I received an ARC and this is my review.!

A fun, sweet, heartfelt romance that had me giggling, squirming, and smiling and there was definitely a few tears that were spilled. I went through this book in ONE day because I was hooked on the amazing characters...the way their hate turned to incredible trust and love that had me loving this story. I cried for our heroine and what she had went through and yet I cheered for the way she pushed through. Our hero had me wanting to strangle him one moment, and wanting to kiss the heck out of him the next. It was such an exciting romance that was downright DELICIOUS!

This maybe one of the most...powerfully amazing romances I have read in the last few months. It was sweet, sexy, humorous, and oh so entertaining. The characters had such amazing depth and the plot was RIVETING. I loved it and thought it was wonderfully written.

Most Eligible Bastard gets a SWEET AS HONEY AND OH SO HEARTFELT FIVE SHOOTING STARS! It will leave you Dazzled and BEGGING for more from Annika Martin!

The plot of this book is crazy but funny! Imagine an old lady who dies and leaves a huge empire to her little dog, and appoints Vicky, her “dog whisperer”, as the dog’s guardian!
Vicky had fled to New York, escaping a harrowing moment in her teenage years, and is hiding with her younger sister, under false identities and documents. She impersonates as a dog whisperer in a fair as a favor to a friend, and ends up with Bernadette Locke as her stalker. This old lady was relentless in pursuing Vicky to act as her little dog’s interpreter, until Vicky took pity on the lady who lived alone and started to visit with her and act as “dog whisperer”. She used the opportunities to help the lady since she lived in shabby conditions and seemed to have been abandoned by her only son.
When the old lady is admitted to the hospital, Vicky smuggles the little dog to visit with her. In one of those instances, the son happened to visit too, and accuses her of trying to impress and gain favor from the lady, as if she wants money from her. Vicky instantly falls into hate with this guy, who is one of those “filthy-rich entitled men” whom she hates due to her past traumatic experience.
When the lady dies and leaves the control of the Locke Industries to Smuckers, via Vicky’s guardianship, Vicky is forced to join the Board of Trustees of the empire. Vicky is at times intimidated and other times irritated by the behavior of the board members, especially Brett, who is openly hostile to Vicky.
Vicky sometimes cowers and other times gets aggravated and uses her “dog whisperer” voice to issue commands that are supposedly coming from Smuckers. She uses this ploy to get out of sticky situations where the board members try to get advantage. Little by little Henry gets to know her and starts to discover that she is genuine. Her quirky personality intrigues him and they start to work as a team. Vicky sometimes lets herself be charmed by Henry and other times gets aggravated by his entitled behavior that she nicknames kook aid.
This was a fun book to read. I loved how the author developed the love story and slowly opened up tidbits on Henry’s childhood so we can understand the strange relation he had with his mother. We also learn a little about Vicky’s past, her real name and her family situation, but the whole package comes clear late in the book. As compared with other books, this author did a stellar work in developing the back stories in a manner that I never lacked knowledge or was confused by the development of the plot. This book never lagged, never bored, had a great pace and great characters. Some associates from Vicky’s work environment provided great local color. It was interesing, fun, and Smuckers was a little darling who only lived for snacks and cuddles.

Vicky works hard to provide for her sister and keep their modest life running smoothly, even when it means pretending to be a dog whisperer for the unpleasant and lonely Bernadette Locke. However, when Bernadette passes away leaving her fortune to her dog Smuckers, and Vicky as his regent, Bernadette’s son Henry accuses Vicky of being a con artist. Although Vicky never asked for any of it, she’s not going to let this sexy, rich man push her around. Let the games begin…

Although billed as a romantic comedy, Most Eligible Bastard isn’t light and fluffy. Ms. Martin has a dark, wicked sense of humor that I love, but it may not be for everyone. The humor in the book is off beat, silly, sarcastic, and naughty. I love it! And considering Vicky’s past-the issues she’s had to overcome, there is dark in this story as well.

While primarily a romance, there is much more going on in the story. I enjoy how the author gives bits and pieces of what happened to Vicky as a teen. Putting together the parts one at a time adds a bit of heightened tension to the read. I know something awful happened, and that history is somehow repeating itself, but without knowing the whole picture, it put me on edge. And honestly, the opening third of the book took me outside my comfort zone. I struggle with stories where a person telling the truth is railroaded into looking like they lied. When the victim becomes the bad guy. The injustice hurts something deep inside me. And this story has it two-fold. First in the back flashes and memories, but also in present day as things are repeating themselves.

However, I realized that somewhere along the way, the maddening panic I felt because of the injustice went away because Henry started believing in Vicky. The story was no longer about her fighting for innocence, rather it becomes about Vicky and Henry getting to know each other and finding happiness with one another.

Vicky and Henry make the perfect, unlikely couple: kind of like Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Henry and Vicky are different sides of the same coin. Henry doesn’t recognize that he has a gapping hole in his life, while Vicky knows exactly what’s missing from her life. I enjoy how the pair grow and evolve, watching Henry find the piece of himself that was missing all along, and for Vicky to rediscover the parts she’d buried. They both heal from deep wounds and find solace and beauty in their friendship and love affair. But their relationship is more than just plugging up holes; they develop genuine friendship and trust based on mutual interest and intense sexual attraction.

The story is shared in alternating first person, present tense points of view. At times it is fast and crazy, just like their relationship, which allows me to get all swooped up in the moment. And although there are bumps and dark places, in the end, Most Eligible Bastard is a feel good, happy story. There are some laugh-out-loud and crazed moments, but it’s not rom com. It’s not chick lit. It’s moody and stormy. It’s crazy and wild. And I enjoyed it very much!

My Rating: B+

I absolutely loved this book!
I’m not really into rom coms but Most Eligible Bastard had me for the first sentence.
This book has it all!
It’s funny, sexy, sweet, romantic. It has moments filled happiness and moments filled with tears.
There are some lol scenes. There is no way to contain your laughter.
But this book also has some serious elements to it as well.
Those parts are sad and frightening.
It’s such a well balanced book,it’s perfect!
The characters Vicky and Henry are wonderful.
Vicky is such a sweet funny young lady. She’s talented and smart. But most of all she loves her
sister so much and took on the responsibility of raising her with love and happiness. Never bitter or mad. Vicky is feisty and sassy and gives as good as she gets. She is so determined and so very strong.
I think she doesn’t even realize how strong she really is.
Henry is a CEO of an international multi billion dollars company.
He’s loyal to his family, friends and his company. He’s tries to make it a point to know his employees names. He’s smart and creative. But watch out if you get on his bad side. He tears his enemies to pieces.
When Smuckers brings them together all hell breaks loose and they will never be the same again!
The banter between Vicky and Henry is priceless. You never know what they will say or the response.
There are so many scenes between them that will have you laughing so hard! Absolutely priceless!
They’re chemistry is hot and steamy. They are sizzling together!
The secondary characters are great as well.
What an outstanding job Ms. Martin did with Most Eligible Bastard!
It’s written so perfectly!
She is masterful in the hilariousness of the story and the conversations and situations.
The writing is witty and smartass!
The serious side is done tenderness and care.
There is zero wrong with this book!
Awesome characters, great storyline and plot and the writing is outstanding!
Overall superb book!

I enjoyed the conflict and tension between wealthy billionaire, Henry, and jewellery designer, Vicky, and a toy maltese dog, Smuckers, thrown in the mix to add to the spice of the story. Vicky can't stand rich guys because of something that happened in her past. Henry thinks she conned his sick mother in making her the legal guirdian of the little dog, leaving her and Smuckers totally in change of the company, where Henry is the CEO.
The story developes with Vicky and Henry getting on better, falling for one another, then tragady strikes in the form of someone from Vicky's past, and she and her little sister has to dissapear again. But don't stress, a HEA!! I haven't read and enjoyed a book this much in a long time. It is really a relaxing, fun and sexy story.

Most Eligible Bastard is probably one of the best romantic comedies that I’ve read in a long time. Anika Martin has written a funny, but sad at times story of a woman, a rich a-hole, and a dog who has quite a bit to say.
Vicky has been the dog whisperer for cranky Bernadette’s dog Smuckers for 3 years. When Bernadette passes, she leaves Smuckers an incredible legacy. Uber-rich business owner Henry Locke thinks Vicky scammed his mother, so he’s going to do anything to get her to drop out.

Vicky has dealt with jerky rich men before, and Henry learns little by little that maybe Vicky isn’t who he thought she was. But his family is determined to oust her any way they can. It’s a wonderful read that I just couldn’t put down, and Smuckers had me in rib=splitting stitches!

Well if you enjoy quirky romantic comedies this is the book for you! Vicky ends up in a bit of a situation when she becomes the executor of a little Maltese named Smuckers. Vicky is taking care of Smuckers for a not so nice elderly woman named Bernadette who has been ill in her old age. Little did she know that Bernadette Locke was one of the most wealthiest women around! Comedy And Chaos ensue when Bernadette’s son, Henry Locke finds out that his company’s new CEO & board of trustees will be a stranger, Vicky , and his mother’s little Maltese. Can he get her to sign the dogs 51% ownership of his company back to him? Will this woman drive him crazy in the process? Will Vicky give in to Henry’s demands or decide to help Smuckers take his place on the board of trustees? With secrets Vicky doesn’t want uncovered about her she may be in for a wild ride. Maybe two can play this game to get what they both want. Dual POV

Henry meets Vicky in his dying mothers hospital room while she's telling his mother what her dog is telling her. A dog whisperer, really? He thinks she's crazy and she thinks he's overbearing. The next time they meet, they discover his mother left 51% of the family business to her dog, Smuckers with Vicky representing him. This is a joke, right? Anger and accusations follow. Add in the board of directors, scheming to prove Vicky is a grifter and a secret Vicky doesn't want revealed and you have a battle that's over the top and hilarious.
Henry and Vicky battle it out but soon find out they are more alike and what's more, they like each other. But with scheming plans still in progress and a secret that's still not revealed, can anything lasting come off them?
I loved this book! The characters were well written and the humour spot on. Highly recommend reading this book.

Vicky has be left Smuckers in the will of Bernadette. Bernadette thought Vicky was a dog whisperer. She wasn’t, but she played along since Bernadette was so persistent. What she didn’t realize is that Smuckers is now 51% in control of the empire that the Locke family owned. Her son is convinced that she is a scam artist and goes to elaborate lengths to try to oust her from the board.

This had quite a few funny moments and overall was a pretty light read. But there are some dark moments in Vicky’s past and when they come to light it nearly breaks you. Great emotional read that you should grab right now!
