This book is my asbsolute favorite in the series! It describes the many different celebrations, customs and fears of the time.Elizabeth not only expresses her joys, but her pains:never knowing her mother(who was beheaded by her own father),her strange sometimes cruel sister, and the possibility of losing the love of the KING,her faher!an EXCELLENT BOOK!it even has somewhat of a ghost story in it... YOU MUST READ THIS ONE!!!!

This book was extremly good. I would suggest other books in the Dear America series. They tend to be the best books I ever read. This one did a beautiful job reconstructing what life was like, with the bathes and everything. And Elizabeth herself comes alive. Now, every time I hear an insult to her name, I come to her defense. I was just enfolded in her own thoughts and ups and downs.

Perhaps I was expecting too much but this rosy view of Elizabeth's childhood takes a bit too much poetic liscencing. Instead of giving the reader a young perpective on this remarkable woman this fiction is presented as a stylized "biography"

Having taken English History in a British school many years ago, I found this book to be very enlightening in reference to this period of time. This book gives a great insight into the formation of the Elizabethian period.

This book was written extremely well. I like the way the Elizabeth charished all the things her father gave her. They were as simple as a wink. I really enjoyed this book and I will definatly read it again in the near future

This book was my favorite in the Royal Diaries series. It is about in my opinion the greatest English monarch in history, Elizabeth I, and I think that it is written very much in the point of view of an eleven year old. Kids today can connect to this book, because Elizabeth doesn't necessarily act like a princess all of the time.

Her story is interesting, one of a girl without a mother and a father who often forgets her or doesn't pay attention to her, and being third in line for the throne, sees no hope for herself. She has to get by in life without much support behind her, in a time with great danger and religious tumult. In this book, you see Henry not only as a king, but a father, and his wives are just like stepmothers. All these important historical figures are presented like aquaintences and friends, and you get to know them before they changed history.

This book is great if you are just starting to look into this topic, because it puts it all into perspective. I loooooooove the topic of the Tudor Dynasty, and this was the first book about it I read that got me interested in it. If you don't know much about the Tudor Dynasty or just want something fun to red then READ THIS READ THIS READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a very interesting account of Elizabeth I's early years(although it is a fictional book). This combines the author's imagination with the true story of the young princess Elizabeth. I love the mixture of fact and fiction. This book makes Elizabeth seem less like historical royalty and more like a kid. That could be both good and bad, depending on your point of veiw. There are also some fabulous pics at the end as well as a Tudor family tree. I used this book on a report of King Henry VIII. So, if you enjoy historical England, this is the book for you!!!!!!

I thought that this book was very realistic. Although other people who reviewed this book thought she talked more like an adult, she really didn't, because that's how they talked in the Middle Ages. I thought that this book was okay, although it wasn't a book I'd read twice, coz it was pretty borning. Generally, I think the other Dear America books are better, but this one was okay.
