My 8 year old daughter absolutely loves this.. she is always teaching us new facts. There is something for everyone in this book. Even the adults find themselves skimming through reading it. It's an awesome and educational book, a great price for a hardcover book of that size.

While it has some interesting info in a great format for kids (grown-ups too! :) I returned it because there are a LOT of references to evolution... yes, animals do evolve in the sense that they can change and adapt to their environment, but human beings are NOT descendants of apes!! Just because scientists have found skulls that supposedly belong to neanderthal man does NOT mean they are human! How do they "know" these are human remains? They don't. And they can't prove it.

purchased this book to give as a gift but reviewed a little of it first and I am glad I did. I returned the book to the store due to the fact that a question was asked how humans got on earth and the book discussed evolution and not biblical. I believe in GOD and I believe GOD created man and women not Evolution.

Great gift for kids and families. It provides so many talking points that you can take up with the young ones, and individual articles are succinct enough to account for shorter attention spans. There is plenty of variety too, and you can teach the kids to search the index rather than the internet! Particularly useful if you are trying to limit screen time. Think modern version of old school encyclopediae with lots of pictures.

This looked great, but was disappointing. I sent it back. It is rated for 8 year olds and up. However, both my wife and I found several inappropriate articles for you children such as "Why do men have nipples?" and articles about the Salem Witch trials and Witchcraft. I would NOT recommend this for elementary age children.

Mu grandson has started sharing facts from this book every day. He is a very curious child and this book is perfect for him to poke into whenever he has a few minutes or more to spare. It's a perfect "getaway" from screen time.
