I liked the characters in this story and how the story unfolded to a happy ending. Autism is so wide spread right now, and anyone who is involved with a family of an autistic child would appreciate this story.

I enjoyed reading this book and found it very hard to put down .....to sleep. Each page kept your interest and had you waiting to see what would happen, without the author 'leading' you.
Really enjoyed this one.

Loved the book. Kept my interest the entire time. Story was very realistic and the child with autism was portrayed realistically too. Would recommend this book and looking forward to reading the next!

Diagnosing and early intervention for autism was very accurate. Romantic story was good. There was a lot of error in editing of spelling and some grammar. That should not be a distraction when reading.

I thought this book would be something more - it could have been with the various characters and the "forgotten child'. But, no, turns out to be just a lame love story with the usual trials and tribulations. The kind of book that I almost gave up on, but I kept on reading, hoping for more. Turns out - I should have just put it down after all.

This story is heart wrenching. It had my attention from the get go. Couldn't put it down. I had tears in my eyes but the heart healing of the two main characters was amazing and so well written. Thank you for a wonderful read. Cant wait to read the next one!

I'm not sure that the title is correct for this book. There is a story line w/ an Austic child, his mother leaves him behind, but this story is more involved than just focussing on the child(?). Nice story line, easy to read, would like to see a sequel.

Enjoyable, easy read but very predictable storyline. Whilst I didn't mind this book, the ending was satsfying enough that means I don't feel the need to seek out the many others in this series featuring these characters.

an enjoyable read with various interesting characters, from an autistic child with a self posessed mother, a man who learnt to open his heart to a lovely woman who shows him the true meaning of love. a story that could easily be true.

I enjoyed reading The Forgotten Child. I didn't want to put it down. It was a love story both for a man and a child who`s own mother refused to love. I am excited to read more of Lorhainne Eckhart`s books.

Having worked for many years with autistic children and their families (in the pioneering days of positive behavior modification and education for autistic children), I looked forward to a story in which readers could learn more about this syndrome and how much children can be helped today to become socialized, educated citizens.
Instead, what I found was a terribly mundane and hackneyed romance story.
I was dismayed to find such poor character development, mystifying similes, gratuitous use of, commas, everywhere, in almost, every sentence (yes, like that!) and a rather obvious goal of using the hot-button, sobering issue of autism to promote a fast-moving sexual relationship between the two main characters. Sadly, the child is NOT the main character...he is indeed "forgotten" - by the author. Perhaps she was giving readers fair warning by choosing that as her title.
I was also turned off from the get-go by the terrible grammar and gratuitous use of foul words (The dad calls his little autistic three year old son "You little sh_ _"? for knocking over a houseplant left on a low coffee table. The author pretty much lost me right then and there.
I read on for a while, but things only deteriorated from there. I'm not finishing the book, so if there are any redeeming factors that I'm not aware of, please just forgive me. I gave it a fair chance, before deleting it from my Kindle, with a profound sense of having been defiled instead of illuminated in any way.
I'm glad this was a free offer, sparing me the effort of having to request my money back.
I encourage the author to take some basic writing classes. Grammar, punctuation, similes, analogies, character development, etc. would be a good start. She clearly wants to be a writer, and therefore deserves to give herself the tools necessary to be a good one. I hope she will.

This novel had a lot of passion. It was a fast paced story. I would have liked if it had developed the story about Trevor the autistic boy. He was literally forgotten in the second half of the novel. Who was caring for him? How was he reacting to the conflict of his parents? The remainder of the story cheated the reader and rushed to the finish. Pulp fiction.

This is my first review on the store, so here it goes... This was a total package book there were times I laughed, wanted to cry, and totally swooned... The story line was great, the characters where very likeable or unlikable depending on the character (so to be ex's) and the writing was done in a way that I could see the movie playing out in my head the whole time.... This is one of the few book I have not skimmed a page so I could get to the next, I read every page it was a great book.. It is a mixture of simple romance with semi descriptive love scenes it worked perfectly together.

The characters are annoying. The main female character is so naive. Over and over again she makes the same mistake. She is too stupid for the main guy.
The main guy is supposed to want to give up everything for his son. There isn't one scene of him being with his son, except when he is dragging him around a store, shoving crackers in his face to shut him up.
And the lawyer who wants the main character to do nothing because he will lose everything. What a crybaby.
I had to start skipping through the parts of the book that were to irrational to handle.

While the story here is adequate I am offended by the lack of proper editing and proof reading of this book. There are missing words; incorrect words like "threw" instead of "through", "your" instead of "you're"; incomplete sentences - this is really unacceptable, it looks like it was edited by Spellcheck! Please don't contribute to the dumbing down of society.

This story drove me a little crazy. I'm not a woman's libber, but the clearly defined men and women's roles in the book were irritating. But over all, the story line was intersting and even though it bogged down in places, I managed to finish it and consider it an interesting read.

A run-of-the-mill "romance" like most today with too much sex and an under-developed story. There were threads of a good story here, but that story was largely ignored in favor of a very ordinary write-by-the-numbers "romance" novel. Too bad.

It's about failed relationships, blinders that one wears when we fall in love, the cold reality when they come off, how we make the same mistakes and when we realize our blunders. It has romance
and live too. So the book hooked me with the autism and how this stutter would use it. I enjoyed the book, and I could accurately relate to all angles. Very well written.

Very good and well paced story of love and family. I usually skip thru the build up to and the finish of the sex narrative. Most authors never get it right! It's usually unrealistic, stupid or lacking. I skipped nothing in this book. Great job!

poorly written with too simple of plot and story line. Not enough detail and word descriptions. Would have liked the Author to dwell more fully on the Austistic child rather than the relationship of the Father and girlfriend. Would not recommend

I liked the book. It kept my attention and was modern and up to date. The only thing I didn't like about the book was it could have been better proofed. This was my first Kindle book so I don't know if this is how they normally are or not. There were a lot of missing words and sentences with no ends. The book subject was good though.

Not much written about the child, despite the title. Just a typical romance, which is great if that's what your looking for but i was hoping for some depth into autistic children. Not much development of the romance and not much interaction with the affected child. More a story on the heroine and her "normal" daughter.

Didn't deal a lot on the forgotten child, more on the lust between these two. Also shows a recklessness of the fathers part for hiring someone for his son without background check. I know, it's just a story.

This writer clearly has some potential, but the repetitious phrasing and cliches (which were often used incorrectly) drove me crazy. This formulaic story told the reader continuously that Rachel was "an angel" or "angelic" but we had to take the author's oft-repeated word for it, because the character was completely flat. If you read at an eighth-grade level, this book is for you.

I decided to read this book because it seemed interesting by the plot synopsis. It had a good story line, however, I didn't much care for the very detailed sections on the couples intimacy moments. It made the book much worse and could have done without that. If that would have been left out then it would have made it a much better story.

A sad story about a autistic boy who life changes when a motivated caregiver enters his life.
The relationship between the father and care giver a contradiction to the personas of the couple.
For me this caused incongruence .

Ok I know this was free but yikes. I really don't enjoy stories where there are two kinds of women, the dormat and the witch. Also the main male character is stupid. I could only get half way through the book before I gave up. Don't waste your time.

The Forgotten Child is a book full of emotional intensity that carries the reader into Emily's world where she is fed up with her no-good husband and decides the time has come to make a long-needed change. She takes her daughter Katy and hires on as housekeeper, nanny and cook for Brad who is a rancher and a father to an autistic son. It takes Emily some time to make Brad aware that the problems with his son are medical ones and that he needs special care and attention. Just as Emily settles into her position in the house and into a budding romantic role with her boss, his runaway wife returns and upsets the whole apple cart. Poor Emily is ousted and humiliated until Brad sees what's really going on and takes steps to straighten out the mess in his life. Until the end, a lot of heartache and trauma happen that force the reader to keep turning the pages.

This book was so full of grammatical errors, punctuation errors and nonsense prose that I could not believe it was written by an adult, much less edited and proofread! Every page was so full of glaring errors and obvious mistakes (incomplete sentences, fragments, contradictions etc.) that I found it a chore to read, even before the overdone and completely pointless profanity finally caused me to close the book in disgust.
Perhaps the author should look up the definition to the word "integrity" as well. I do not think it means what she thinks it means.
The story itself was based on an interesting idea, but the execution of it was just incredibly substandard. Unless you enjoy puzzling through senseless phrases, shallow plots, unlikable characters, offensive language and ideas and tired cliches, don't waste your dollar.

The book's subject intrigued me as I have a friend with an autistic child. At $1.99, the book was overpriced. It was so poorly written that I found myself skimming the pages in hopes that it would get better. I finally gave in and gave up. . . there are too many (good) books out there waiting to be read to waste any more of my time on this one.

Can't believe I even finished it. It has to get better at some point, right? Wrong. ... Story? has little to do with "the child" or autism. Poor grammar, poor editing, poorly developed characters, unbelievable timeline. Just dumb. One of the worst books I have read, really.
