I just happened upon the book and the boomama blog through a mutual friend's tweet. Where have I been??? I instantly connected with the "feeling" of home and what "home" is all about. From the beginning of the first story, I was hooked!!!If you love the tradition of family - no matter how screwy your's is - you'll LOVE this book. Be prepared to laugh out loud with tears streaming down your face and a kleenex in hand..... GOOD TIMES! Enjoy!!!! Headed out to buy another copy for a "non-southerner" friend. Can't wait to hear her "heehaw"!

I laughed so hard at some of the stories. Tremendously touching as well and truly reminded me of growing up as a southern girl. Almost all of my extended family is gone now and this book brought back precious memories.

This was a wonderful book. It had me laughing (and sometimes crying), pretty much the whole way through. Sophie is hilarious and it translates well in her writing. Although it was written somewhat like a blog, it made for an easy, funny read, with sweet and tender moments. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

This fast, fun read made me laugh, cry, and laugh until I cried. By the time I finished reading it, I was sure that Sophie and I could have been best friends growing up in the south. I am pretty sure she borrowed some of those stories from my childhood! Not to insult others, but I often Thank the Lord that I was able to grow up in a small, Texas town where life often revolved around Friday night football games and what was going on at church.

I enjoyed the book and would recommend. It can be difficult to find many books that do not use offensive language and other things that I find unnecessary to make a good story, this book is funny and not offensive.

This book was very heartwarming! I loved that this family has strong Christian roots and how they loved each other and shared it through the food they cooked, the celebrations they shared and the memories they created.

Run, don't walk, and get this book! Sophie Hudson is a gifted writer who gets the Southern vibe pitch perfect. She tells a wonderful story that will make you laugh, cry, and crave Southern food all at the same time. Buy one for yourself and then come back and get one for all the women in your life.

I thought these were sweet stories from a southern belle. As a Californian, I am fascinated by the culture of the south. But, I was expecting a bit more funny. Maybe it's not fair to compare this author to other southern authors, but I did. The others tell their stories, and the point is that they're funny. That's why they're repeating them. These were just stories, better told in a Christian sewing circle than in a book. Maybe if I has paid $1.99 rather than $9.99, I would have been expecting less.

I can't say enough good things about this wonderful book. I couldn't put it down! As a girl from the deep south myself, I related to nearly every story Sophie told about life and her family. It took me back to some precious childhood memories and made me laugh so hard I cried...more than once. Thank you, Sophie for sharing your life and heart with us. I know I speak for everyone who has had the privilige of reading it that we are forever grateful!

I love reading about southern culture. It speaks to my roots, and the values my parents taught. The stories in here were both hilarious and touching. The stories about her mother-in-law had me in stitches, and the memories about her own mother were a wonderful tribute. I also enjoyed her understated humor in regards to herself. Wonderfully done.

This book is WONDERFUL! It is well written and kept me laughing the entire time. Sophie Hudson is very good at just simply telling it how it is in her personal family life to a point where anyone can relate. I highly recommend this book.

I loved reading Sophie's stories. They made me feel her joys and losses vivdly. I felt like I could curl my feet up on the couch and 'listen' to her chat all evening. I was right there at the dining room table with everyone. She lives her faith in such a real way. That is so refreshing in our world today. I'm so glad I found her blog to keep in touch until her next book comes out!

Sophie Hudson and I are kinfolk. Her grandfather's sister was married to my grandfather's brother. Not blood kin, but when you consider a tiny rural town in Mississippi called Rose Hill--she calls it Moss Rose in the book--everybody's kinda related. Though I now live a thousand miles away and my grandparents are no longer living, I yearn to go back to the days of my childhood there. Her book transports me there and whenever I read a few chapters, it's like going home.
