I really appreciated the honesty Sophie gave us in telling about her journey to where she is. I laughed and cried as well. If you liked her first book, you will enjoy this one too. It is even more personal.

This is just a really fun sweet book...thoroughly enjoyed every word. Sophie takes us right into what it means to love and care for family and appreciating what a good bunch of family and friends can do for us.

The old saying states that the American Dream is a two story house with a nice, flat yard and a white picket fence. But what truly makes a house a home? Is it the building or is it the people? Do you have different homes throughout life, or is it just one single place that your soul belongs? These are just a few of the things that Sophie Hudson explores in her latest memoir Home is Where My People Are.

Readers will take a road trip through the South and through life’s ups and downs in this delightful read. Sophie Hudson embodies the Southern Woman and is absolutely hysterical, as she tells the stories of how she has lived in numerous states, before finally finding her home. She leaves nothing to the imagination, giving readers an inside scoop into her life growing up. Her sarcasm and humorous wit will have readers rolling with laughter. However, she keeps it very real, sharing some heartaches and reminding readers of her faith and that God has a reason for everything. Readers will become instant fans of Sophie Hudson’s style, as they begin to reflect on their own life.

Told in her signature style—with plenty of parenthesis and all caps!— Home Is Where My People Are is another hilarious book from Sophie Hudson. Sophie tells some great stories (she’s southern after all!), but she doesn’t simply rely on being fun. Instead, she uses these stories to tell her life’s story as well as make the reader think a little more his or her own story. After reading about Sophie’s family and friends, I found myself wanting to hug mine a little tighter, grateful for the gift they are to me.

I love all things Sophie Hudson (The Big Boo Cast, anyone?!), and Home Is Where My People Are is no exception. Snag a copy today and prepare yourself to laugh and hopefully learn a little something about yourself.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. However, all opinions expressed are my own. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way.

"Home Is Where My People Are" is, as author Sophie Hudson says, " real stories, about the real lives of real people." Some of the names have been changed to protect their identity.
The author reminds the reader of a time not too long ago when kids were free and there were very few "helicopter parents". Sophie also talks about dysfunction in families, showing the reader that all families are dysfunctional in some manner, even if very subtle.
Through this work, I was inspired in my walk with the Lord. So many times I have been drawn to the negative aspects of my own life, as well as those of others.
The author is light-hearted and encourages the reader to focus on Jesus. In referencing her own experience at a camp called "Camp Wesley Pines", Sophie heard the gospel message. "You are a sinner. God loves you anyway. God sent His Son, Jesus, to bear the weight of your sins and die in your place. Are you willing to lay down your life, take up your cross, and follow Him?" (pg 17)
Although I believe women of all ages would enjoy this book, I highly recommend it to older teenage girls and women in their early twenties.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book for review purposes from Tyndale House.

I thought this was a good memoir written with Southern flair. I did read and enjoy her first book A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet too. This book is a collection of stories about her life mainly focusing on family and her spiritual journey. If you are not into spiritual/Christian books, this is not going to be a book you like. I liked how she shared her struggles and the ways she made it through. There were many lol moments too. Home is where my people are summarize the book perfectly. Recommended.

Such a cute memoir! Perfect beach read this summer. Sophie Hudson has such a fun way of sharing her story and her book "Home is Where My People Are" is a quick, uplifting read. She shares her story from growing up to present day. I love how she weaves her faith into each chapter. I laughed at her Southern stories and was encouraged by her uplifting story.

I recommend this to women who are looking for a fun summer read, to be encouraged in your faith, and want a great laugh!

Sophie Hudson is everything you want in a storyteller: funny, humble, entertaining, and spot-on. She truly "gets" the South and has a beautiful way of capturing the relationships that give life meaning, depth, and purpose. As a writer and a person, Sophie lights up the room, and this book feels like a big hug from an old friend who loves you for who you are and takes you back in time in the best of ways.

I highly recommend "Home is Where My People Are" and Sophie's first book, too. Reading Sophie's words is like going on a great adventure where you are guaranteed to laugh, smile, and wipe away tears - all within a few pages!

Great book! I love that the book written just exactly how she speaks. If you're a blog reader, you'll adore the book! Complete with many parenthetical notes, lots of southern flair, and stories of her walk of faith. I felt like I was sitting down with an old friend over a cup of coffee. I'd highly recommend!

This is a memoir by blogger and author Sophie Hudson, describing her childhood and adulthood in the South. She tells how God has used her experiences to teach her lessons. I thought the book was good and somewhat amusing. The author's stories are interesting and some are thought provoking.

I loved the title of this book and the description on the back of the book so much that, that’s the reason why I wanted to read this book. Once I started reading this book I realized it just wasn’t the book for me. I just didn’t enjoy the book as a whole. But I did love different parts of it. I loved reading about her parts of her journey through life. I also loved that she is from Mississippi and wrote about some things about Mississippi. I could relate to a lot of the things about Mississippi since I have been living here for over 20 years now and call Mississippi my home. It feels more like home than where I grew up.

Even though I really didn’t like this book, I know a lot of people would like this type of book. So go check it out.

Way too preachy. Don't like her writing style. Didn't realize there was so much religious stuff. My bad. Should have paid more attention before ordering. Was looking for a good read with home style stories and not so much religion. To each his own.
