My husband and I knew we needed to start bringing up puberty to my eight year old. He is young enough that we didn't need to go into a lot of detail. Just let him know what would be happening in the near future. We looked through a lot of books on the store and read a lot of reviews and decided on this book. My husband and i read it before we showed him. Then my husband went over a few basics with my son. There are some things in the book we don't need to worry about for a while like facial hair and wet dreams. But there isn't anything about sex yet, which we wanted. that can wait a few years. And I have found this book out and my son reading it ( more than once). So it must be engaging for boys

Highly recommend this book. Covers a large variety of topics such as shaving, body and foot odor, voice changes, emotions. I had bought the girl's version for my daughter about 6-7 years ago and she really used it. My husband is a very private person and he won't discuss these things with our son so I bought this for him. I looked through it to get an idea of the quality of information. It covers topics that I would not have thought of much less known how to answer. My son and I have a candid relationship, but there may come a time that he will be embarrassed to talk to me about such things. This book will provide answers. Another reason this is a useful "tool" is because sometimes we don't ask questions because we don't want to sound stupid. The book will answer questions as well as giving the child confidence to ask.

Easy to read. This book, along with Changing You, is always on display. I believe it covers all the topics my son is curious about and I am always there to answer those questions not mentioned. I taught Biology for twenty seven years. Parents need to give their sons and daughters straight answers when they ask questions about sex and their bodies. The Boys Body Book will help you answer those questions.

Thank goodness for this book. My 5th grade son had the first "puberty" video and talk at school this year, and I had this book waiting for him when he got home knowing that he was not ready for all of this. (Let's face it, some kids are way ahead of others.) Initially, he put it as far across the room as possible, but later told me and his dad that he was relieved to read this book which detailed much more about puberty than just the "gross stuff."

As a parent of a kid who is not "there" yet, I love this book. It gives about one paragraph to everything a boy will experience while going through puberty, making no big deals out of any one thing. They are what they are and you move on to the next knowing that every boy will go through the same thing.

This book doesn't cover sex at all, and that's fine for where my kid is at right now.

We had the American Girl body books for my daughter, and I was looking for something similar for my son. He took and read it like a badge of honor, and it spurred some good conversations about changes coming up as he grows. My husband has never felt comfortable with having these kinds of conversations, so as a mom and nurse I felt like this was a good book to start it off.

My Son reads this book in his leisure no pressure from me as his Mom to read...I occasionally ask a question here and there to see if he is reading and his responses support that he has tickled his curiosity a bit. I have skimmed through and found what I read to be quite informative,,,he is certainly going to be able to grow with this book; as it covers almost any and everything concerning little boys to young men. Great Investment Purchase...

This book was recommended by our school counselor as an indroduction to the topic of puberty. The subject is tought in our 5th grade classes and we purchased several books the summer prior. It was a great way for my then 10 year old son to read on his own and then discuss with me (mom).Letting him become familiar with the subject matter at home and at his own pace was much more comforting to him.

Very sensitively dealt with adolescent boy topics regarding physical, social, and emotional health. Not too corny for a boy to take it seriously but still written from a perspective that a child will appreciate and find interesting.

Its a great introduction. My son knows where babies come from, we have talked about changes, smells, hair etc. My son is only 10 and I didnt want a book that went in depth for sex and all the stuff that goes with it. He just isnt ready and gets uncomfortable (thankfully he is a young 10). I think this is a great book to introduce topics such as cleanliness, grades, growth spurts, friends etc. It does have a small section on changes in a boys penis, erections, hair...but no sex. Hopefully this book will reinforce what he knows and that he "isnt the only boy that has embarrassing stuff happen". We will be following up with a more in depth book as he gets older.

The subject of human development for some reason is difficult. We can have great relationships with our children but even the best of those don't always meet the needs of theirs. Some times reading a book at ones own pace and having the privacy the book allows is what's needed. I bought my son two books, this being on of them and was very help full making the subject more discussable.

Ok what a fantastic book! We had been getting allot of questions lately and while I was happy answer his questions I felt like he might benefit from a book with some framework for learning about his body and how things were going to change. This book was on point! Made him feel comfortable learning and asking more questions.

This book is awesome for the little growing boy who wants to know everything about his body! Don't worry parents, there is nothing in this book that will cause embarrassment or uncomfortable situations.
