Alvin Morrow explains the methods of the Willie Lynch Letter in terms that anyone can understand. The ability to break down these effects are uncanning. With each new chapter, Black men and women are able to see how these brutal mental conditioning methods first used in slavery, affect each Black person today. Also, honest solutions are provided to promote unity, allow for healing, and ultimately freedom from these damaging mentalities.

This book truly changed my life. It gives such an intricate breakdown and new perspectives of both slavery and modern day life for people of color. Not just that but, this book gives a different perspective for everyone. It allows for all readers to gain a new and insightful perspective. GREAT READ!

Outstanding book, a easy read & very educational for all African Americans. We need to understand the process before we can change the process!!! Great book, please pick it up and read it. It's packed full of knowlege for the price of a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Rating this read on intention I would give the author 3 stars (his intentions to help the AA community are good and quite evident)! However, it is far more convincing to provide proof to substantiate claims as important as these! From a position of blackness and woman I was able to relate to the very core of his argument, but even we deserve material that is well written, investigated, and expressed don't we? (pun intended). The grammatical errors, semantics, and organization of thought were poorly orchestrated in this book, giving way to bouts of boredom and frustration. Perhaps, this author will aim to please and rewrite a better constructed and cited work.

THIS BOOK LITERALLY CHANGED THE WAY A THOUGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING IN THIS COUNTRY. ALL BLACK PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY SUFFER FROM CURSE OF WILLIE LYNCH. HE DEVELOPED A PLAN TO CONTROL ALL BLACK PEOPLE FOR OVER 300 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN A SUCCESS. WE STILL ARE CONTROLLED BY THIS CURSE AND MANY BLACK PEOPLE DON'T EVEN REALIZE IT. PLEASE GET INFORMED ON WHAT HAS TAKEN PLACE IN HISTORY AND ALWAYS BE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON NOW IN THE 21ST CENTURY. SLAVEERY IS STILL GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY, BUT NOW IT IS MORE MENTAL THAN PHYSICAL. WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO HATE OURSELVES AND SETTLE FOR LESS ON EVERY ENDEAVOR IN LIFE. BLACK PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.. THIS IS NOT BY ACCIDENT OR BY MISTAKE. THIS IS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY AND WE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN CHANGE IT BY BEING EDUCATIONED AND GOING TO COLLEGE. THE AUTHOR OF THIS BOOK REALLY DID HIS HOMEWORK BECAUSE THE BOOK IS A STEP BY STEP METHOD OF CONTROL THAT WILLIE LYNCH DESIGNED HIMSELF. THE SAD THING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS THAT IT IS ALL TRUE AND IT STILL IS IN PRACTICE TODAY.

The author reaches a number of unsubstantiated conclusions, with very, very few references. The book does not reach very detailed solutions and offers a number of sweeping generalizations about various races and why they behave a certain way. Some of the material was indeed interesting, but much of it simply sounds academic (i.e. 'bio-chemical altering'), but is never explained or backed by references.

Maybe the advice in the book is really useful and insightful, but that Willie Lynch story is just a story, a fable designed to encapsulate important information in a digestible way. Google "willie lynch letter fiction" . You'll see. There was no Willie Lynch lecture to a gathering of slaveholders. That letter was invented in the 20th century, and unfortunately to this day, despite no actual proof of the letter existing before 1900, the story has circulated so widely in the Black Community it is assumed to be true. Believing it happened is understandable. The story does capture all of the key elements/tools of subjugating a population and what was done to enslaved Africans. Sadly, those methods have been around for thousands of years. Figuring out how to be cruel and exploitive of each other is a long standing human talent.

Although Willie Lynch purportedly didn't exist (no real evidence to assert he didn’t or did), these methods were employed and the effects are present. Aside from grammatical errors etc, it's a good book. I also recommend Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome by Dr. Joy Degruy

Overall, this is a great book and read. It presents various theories and ideas that will definitely make you wonder why many of "us" experience the things we do, especially internally. It always amazed me why so many of our young children experience self-hate without being exposed to american society. This book will support you in finding the answer to many of your questions.

I rate this 4/5 because there were various grammatical errors; however, in terms of content, this book deserves a 5/5.

MR.ALVIN MORROW GIVES INSIGHT, THAT AFRICANS IN AMERICA HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO BE "BLACK-EUROPEANS WITH A EUROPEAN CONSCIOUSNESS", TAUGHT THROUGH THE EUROPEAN TEACHING OF CHRISTIANITY, THE EUROPEAN TEACHING OF HIS-STORY, EUROPEAN ILL-MORAL BEHAVIOR, ECT. BREAKING THE CURSE OF WILLIE LYNCH, IS AN EXCELLENT STARTING POINT AT DEVELOPING A "AFRICAN CONSCIOUSNESS". LEARNING THIS KNOWLEDGE TAKES TIME AND PATIENTS, THIS IS OUR-STORY, THAT WE AS AFRICANS WERE NEVER MEANT TO KNOW ABOUT. STUDY & LEARN ABOUT- KHEMET, HORUS & OSIRIS, THE ROMAN ECCUMENICAL COUNCILS, AFRICAN SPIRITUALITY AND THE ANCESTORS, WHY AFRICANS WERE INTRODUCED TO THE BIBLICAL TEXT, OVERSTAND THE METHODS USED TO KEEP AFRICANS DIVIDED, RESEARCH AMERICAN & WORLD POLITICS THE MONEY & THE POWER, AND THE DUMBING DOWN OF AFRICANS IN THE BLACK CHURCH. ( THE AFRICANS AWAKENING FROM THIS KNOWLEDGE, IS WILLIES GREATEST FEAR & WORLDLY NIGHTMARE ).

About time, Breaking The Curse Of Willie Lynch is a book long overdue! The depth of this man Alvin Morrow's understandg on how the infamous Willie Lynch Slave making techniques forced me to probe slaverys lingering effects on my own conscious. He presents effective solutions to the problems in black male & female relationships, based on understing the problem at its core. Pay very close attention to the instructions before the first chapter. I guarentee that who ever reads this book will never again be the same. This Book is a must read for every Black man, woman, and any one who wants to know the truth about what is actually going on in the psyche of the children of ex-slaves. This book diserves international recogonition!
Brother Keep up the good work. We are very happy to distribute you book.

The Willie Lynch letter is an urban myth .[...] Slavery and the beliefs that made it happen were and are terrible factors in history, but any examination of history should be based on truth. There are great books that collect slave narratives The Classic Slave Narratives (Signet Classics), and many others that examine slavery as a brutal part of our history. Try From Slavery to Freedom: A History of African Americans (2 Vols. in 1) or Without Consent or Contract: The Rise and Fall of American Slavery.

Willie Lynch's letter is broken up through various chapters in short segments. The majority of the book is the ranting opinion of an individual who certainly appears to have the best interest of Blacks in America at heart. However, his opinions are unsubstantiated (i.e., little, if any, evidence) and, to me, at times come of offensively sexist. I find that the author's opinions actually foster the very divisiveness that he apparently wishes to combat.

I plan to look for another version of Willie Lynch's letter either: 1) without "off the wall" editorializing or 2) with analysis which is at least more sophisticated (e.g, substantiated with evidence) and less sexist/divisive than that offered by this author.
