I have a few cocktail books and am very selective about the ones I buy and this is the best cocktail book I've ever read. It's everything I've ever looked for and this along with Dale Degroff Craft of the cocktail are probably the only two you will ever need. I can't recommend highly enough.

Great read and inspiring recipes. Will likely never make most of the drinks due to sometimes exotic ingredients and/or time consuming preparations, but I've found a few easily attainable winners. My fave cocktail book of recent memory.

Love this book!! Good looking black hard cover. I myself am a craft cocktail bartender and it has answered questions I have had and given me inspiration for new drinks. Would most definitely recommend
The Complete Illustrated Book of Barbecue Techniques :: The Book of M :: On Gold Mountain :: A Red Princess Mystery (The Red Princess Mysteries) :: Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson)

This book reminds me of the best cookbooks that teach you about the chemistry of cooking, or in this case drink mixing. I especially appreciate the discussions on techniques and blending flavors. One example was the art of muddling. I used to literally crush the crap out of my herbs but the way the technique was described in the book taught me the WHY of being gentle. So never again will I smash the herbs and I'll be sure to add a sweetener before the herbs to cushion them and help release the flavors. These are the skills that I would hope to gain from reading a book so that I can become creative with the ingredients I have on hand. Great book and now I'll definitely have to make a trip to this establishment next time I'm in New York.

Love the book and stories but I really wish there was some kind of index. One I could use after making , say the Demerara simple syrup, or what recipe uses Tiki bitters etcc. Fun book and great recipes. Also a gorgeously presented piece of writing and binding.

This is an undeniably beautiful book. Coffee table caliber, for sure. It also has some great theory in it, and I loved the section Death and Co. setting up the bar on a typical day. I've done a little bar-tending myself but not at a place even remotely in the same league as Death and Co., so I found that very interesting. Totally makes you appreciate the craft cocktail establishments.
My only only warning to would be buyers is to think about 1) your resources and 2) your skill set. I would say this is a little bit more advanced, especially as many of the cocktails require obscure ingredients. This doesn't make the book bad (of course the authors intended it for a certain audience), but I personally felt a little disappointed I couldn't make more of the cocktails from the get go.
Regardless, the cocktails I did make were absolutely delicious, and I was able to modify a few others and still have great results.
