Good story and a very well-written lead character. She makes the male lead work for her and she doesn't just fall in line with the fame/money thing from the start. I like that.
But, this was a major cliffhanger. I don't buy cliffhangers. Sell me half a book with no warning and I won't give a good review no matter how much I like your book.

This book had parts that I really liked but there also things that I didn't enjoy at all. The two main characters met in a situation that some people may fantasize about . They are attracted to each other but she is very stubborn and pushes him a way. That is something that could and does happen, but after a while I began to become tired of the whole back and forth caused mainly by Sky. It seems to get in the way of the relationship and becomes aggravating. Altogether I enjoyed most of the book I can't decide If I want to read the next one in the series or not.

I downloaded Summer Sky as a free book from the store. This story ends on a cliffhanger, but after all the push away, take him back action in this book, I really don't care how it ends. This story had some great aspects in the beginning and I enjoyed Sky's character. Unfortunately, Dylan, her stalker, spent the whole book manipulating her, and she'd hold her ground, then suddenly take him back. Seriously? What did she see in this guy, because I for one, found he lacked any redeeming qualities. Good writing, some great moments- but too much drama for this girl. As for the cliffhanger, I'm betting it was tossed in for a surprise ending-- no doubt, he's got another lame-ass excuse, and she'll take him back.

Well Sky is your normal person who when she comes home unexpectedly to find her boyfriend wrapped around another
woman takes great exception to this and basically runs away. She goes to her Grandma's beach house where she then
finds another renter there who unbeknownst to her is also a famous rock star. The main reason I kept reading this was
Sky's peculiar and quirky humor but eventually the plot just kept getting thinner and thinner and then just predictable.
So when the ending came around it was pretty obvious if I really wanted to find out what happens with Sky I would have
read book #2 - not happening.

Book just ends. I actually can't believe I finished reading this book. I am not a prude but I wish I had been able to substitute/replace words in the book. The F bomb was dropped nearly every page and sometimes it was 10 times in a few paragraphs. It was used so much that it made me think the author couldn't find other suitable words to move the character's dialogue. If it hadn't been a freebie and I was pressed for reading material, I would have deleted it without finishing it. I'll not read more.
The storyline of the book was good. Nice to have a character so natural as the female. The rock god wouldn't have interested me if he'd have been in another storyline.

Sky Davis is heartbroken when she comes home to find her boyfriend of 5 years in bed with another girl. She needs some time away to clear her head, so she takes off to her grandmother's beach house. On the way, she gets rear-ended by a pretentious guy in a very expensive car. He doesn't want to share his contact information with her, which freaks her out, so she decides to flee the scene. Imagine her shock when he shows up at her grandmother's house. Turns out her grandmother accidentally double booked the beach house.
Sky has no idea that the pretentious guy is a rock god. Dylan Morgan is the lead singer for Blue Phoenix. I wish we could have gotten a chance to see him perform! He is tired of people telling him how to live his life and decides to bail out on the band for a little while to think. Like Sky, his family also spent time during the summer at the beach house, so he has happy memories there. They both end up stay at the house....together. Their interaction was really cute and the chemistry was great. I found myself smiling a few times.
Sky is so different from the girls that Dylan is used to meeting. She's not a groupie or fake. She's curvy and not afraid to say what she thinks. I thought she was funny. They have a great time together until Dylan is recognized and their trip is cut short. She agrees to leave with him, but at the last minute her insecurities make her flee. It was so frustrating to see her go back and forth. She was really insecure, which I guess would be understandable after being cheated on, but still, it was frustrating at times.
Dylan realizes he's in love with Sky and doesn't care if she doesn't fit into his world. He doesn't even want to be a part of that world anymore. Harassment from the paparazzi brings them back together and Sky decides that she wants to be with Dylan. But when she finds out the he's been keeping a huge secret, she isn't so sure anymore.
What knocked this book down from 4 to 3.5 stars for me was the insta-love. I couldn't wrap my mind around Dylan, who only sleeps with girls once and never talks to them again, falling in love with Sky in less than a week. Don't get me wrong, the book was entertaining and the cliffhanger left me wanting to read the next. Yes, you read that right. There is a big cliffhanger at the end.

Spoilers contained in this review. This book starts out great but while you reading this book , you start to wonder why you reading this story. This is a great book because shows a great story line and plot. I am a person who reads many books but some of the things in this pisses me off. Sky thinks Dylan is trying to play a game with her 65 percent of this and in reality he loves so much that he stalks her in a form. Then she get drunk at the party they hosting and tells Dylan the truth about loving him. (Who CARES.) They make up and get together again. Then the book ends with Lily Parker telling Sky that Dylan rape her. I don't mean to some uncaring person on that last sentence but rapes is something important and big, you just don't ignore it. Lily Parker disappeared three years ago and now she coming back. Revenge is here but I wonder is karma coming to? To the next book I await.

The most frustratingly good book I've read so far this year,
a five star plus read ...
Summer Sky by Lisa Swallow is a roller-coaster ride of frustratingly good romance. The story follows Sky Davis and rock star God Dylan Morgan. They meet unexpectedly during a holiday at a beach house in Broadbeach where both are booked in to rent at the same time. They decide after a fair amount of banter to stay together and enjoy their holiday but of course romance ensues. As far as Sky is concerned it’s a summer holiday romance and it ends as soon as she leaves the holiday house, but Dylan has other ideas. He falls head over heels for Sky and wants to make her his. The time they spend at the holiday house is full of sweet moments and the sexual tension is overwhelming at times.
I absolutely loved this book. It was frustrating in the fact that Sky was all over the place with regards to Dylan. I wanted to reach in a slap her but I certainly understood where she was emotionally after just leaving a long term relationship .. she didn't want it to be just a rebound relationship. There’s humour, there’s sadness and I just hoped that they would get this relationship on track at some point.
As you would expect Dylan being the rock star God he is, has a very messy past and it catches up with him in a very bad way. I can't elaborate because you need to read it but you just know as the hints develop that it’s not going to end well for either of them.
What I did like .. the story moves along well and I found it hard to put down. I liked the characters and their development. I liked Sky's independence and her sensible outlook. I loved Dylan he was hot, sexy and romantic.
What I didn't like .. it’s a cliff-hanger, but I understand that there will be a second in the series Falling Sky. I also don’t like the fact that I will now have to stalk the author so I can obtain the conclusion to this wonderful story.
Well done Lisa Swallow on a wonderful story with lots of twists and turns. Your writing is outstanding and I give this wonderful book a five plus star rating.

Summer Sky Blue Phoenix Series by Lisa Swallow Review 5/4/17
Sky changed her life for a man once, and she has no intention of doing it again - even if he is a six-foot, tattooed rock god who makes a mean bacon sandwich. Sky Davis is fed up with boyfriend Grant taking her for granted, and when she comes home to find him wearing a girl, Sky suspects the relationship is over. She takes an unscheduled vacation and leaves behind the life--and guy--she hates. Rock star Dylan Morgan is struggling with fame and infamy, sick of his life being controlled by other people. Dylan cuts his hair and walks away from his role as lead singer of Blue Phoenix, leaving behind chaos and speculation. Outside the English seaside town of Broadbeach, their cars and worlds collide. Sky decides Dylan is an arrogant guy with too many tattoos, and Dylan is amused by the smart-mouthed girl with no idea who he is. Dylan and Sky soon discover they've travelled to Broadbeach for the same reason - to escape from reality and head back to a place with happy childhood memories. Losing themselves in a world where they know nothing about each other, Sky and Dylan begin a holiday romance that soon heats up their rainy English summer. Fantasies can't last forever and when reality crashes the party Sky isn't sure she wants to be more than his 'summer Sky' but Dylan doesn't want to let her go. When they return to the real world, public scrutiny isn't their only problem. Somebody has a reason for wanting Sky out of Dylan's life and is determined to come between them. Some things won't stay hidden, even when they're paid to 'go away'. ***This full-length book is not a standalone and has a cliffhanger. Falling Sky. There is a middle book from Dylan’s side called Summer Sky #1.5.
What did I like? I am not a huge fan of cliffhangers but lucky for me I had all the books before I started so I was able to read right though all of Sky and Dylan’s stories. I really enjoyed these two and loved the action and mystery that built up in the storyline. The characters are fully developed and really enjoy life as you will find. If curse words offend you then this is not a series you want to read but if you are tuned to real life then go for it.
What will you like? Interesting and complicated people that have lives that none of us average people will be able to understand until you read these books. I know that life for them is hard and they go through so much but as you read the story you will see the turmoil and distress that some of them experience. Living life is complicated enough but to add fame to it makes it unbearable for some. This series gives you a good look at the other side of the pond and the people that make up the rich and famous. I received this from the author for an honest review with no other compensation.

I love rocker romances, and I love Lisa Swallow's Butterfly Day's duo.
We meet Sky and Dylan on the road and then discover their shared childhood memories. I love the message that Lisa has throughout the book - not all of our experiences are good or bad ones, but they make us who we are today. And that brings us to Sky and Dylan, and what they are running from in their lives when they meet in their childhood sanctuary.
Sky is taking things easy, after having caught her long-term lover 'attached' to another woman. She knows she's worth more than that, but the 5 yr habit of a relationship has thrown her confidence when she realises how much she has changed to become the woman who her worthless ex wants her to be. AND, she has absolutely no idea who or who much of a super rock star Dylan Morgan is. Nothing turns Dylan on more that having to work his arse off for the attentions of this disrepectful and snarkey woman who thinks he has a panty fetish(!)
This first volume of Blue Phoenix was in the Live Rocker Anthology, so of course after reading Summer Sky, I one-clicked 'Falling Sky' and subsequently 'Unplugged', leaving the rest of the anthology for another day. If you like strong quirkey heroines, neandethal heros who don't recognise their inner insecurities, and associated friends who are going to annoy the hell out of our couple then this is for you. I loved this series and you really need to read Summer Sky first before going onto Falling Sky and UnPlugged (Liam's story). Seriously, these books are reading TIME and money well spent.

My 4 star review of Summer Sky
Sky Davis would totally be my friend in real life. She is natural, down to earth, sweet and spunky type of fierce female I love in a novel. She is totally heartbreakingly gorgeous which is why I couldn’t see anyone cheating on her. But, her jerk ex did after five years of being together. Sky just needed a getaway. She goes to her childhood cottage- where her grandmother lives- and rents out the place- or so she thinks. After getting into a little fender bender, with an extremely attractive- but rude man, Sky arrives at the cottage. Apparently granny didn’t understand what Sky was saying about wanting to stay in the cottage right away, so she double booked. With the hottie from the car accident and neither one are leaving. Sky then meets Dylan Morgan. Sky has no idea that Dylan Morgan is the front man for rock band Blue Phoenix, and that Dylan is also running and hiding in his childhood retreat too. And so their sweet and sexy love story begins.
Sky has such sarcastic humor- which I totally love, and then so does Dylan. Dylan is the typical hot and brooding Rock star to start with, but after spending time with Sky, he starts to come alive again after feeling nothing.
The time spent at the cottage is sweet, but there are also some very real feelings happening between the two of them that they don’t want to admit- or at least Sky doesn’t want to admit anything to herself.
Of course this bubble has to break open some time. Sky hasn’t looked up to see who Dylan really is, but her curious mind gets ahead of her, and she can’t turn back. Everything changes in a instant from sweet, bubbly vacation time, to the harsh cold world that is being a rock star. I feel bad for Sky in an instant- and awful for Dylan, who truly has feelings for Sky.
There is a huge change when they have to go back to the real world and you get to know the real Dylan and the people in his band and the groupies. Some of the band members aren’t so nice- others are.
I am very excited to see what happens in the next installment, Falling Sky. I want their romance to continue, and I hope that Sky can deal with the pressure of being in the spotlight. She is strong, she just needs to give in to her desires, and I think she can do that with Dylan, who wouldn’t be able to?
I love this new story from Lisa Swallow and can’t wait for more.

I was looking for an entertaining, romantic read and I found it in Summer Sky. It's not as light as it seems - both Dylan and Sky are coming to terms with adult lives that aren't what they expected, trying to make changes and unsure exactly what they want to do. Neither is naïve - Dylan's rock star history means he's familiar with drugs, alcoholism, mindless sex and all that goes along with life on tour; while Sky's been in a serious (well, from her side, at least) relationship for five years and she's determined to make sure she doesn't get taken advantage of again.
There's nothing like a car crash to turn a lazy holiday into something entirely different, though...
I like that Sky has guts and isn't a complete doormat - she's been there, done that and it's not who she is. She's not looking for a man to define her, but she doesn't hate men, either. Ooh, no. And the atmosphere does turn electric...
Dylan's got the heart of a good man...but he has about as much idea about how to properly romance a woman as...well, a bloke who's been living on a desert island all his life. One without women. He's his own worst enemy - except in the bedroom.
Yes, there's rock star sex. This is not a sweet romance - it's definitely a steamy one, without being overly graphic.
A highly recommended five-star read - but make sure you buy the second one, too, because you'll want to read it straight after finishing this one. Just like I'm about to do.

Second meetings can be so much fun, "is this your underwear?" I snap my eyes open, spilling my win as I jump to my feet. Psycho-sexy driver stands at the bottom of the stairs with a pair of my knickers hanging off his long fingers." Dylan I liked him right off the bat he was funny, "pizza," he says as if forgetting himself. "You will share a pizza with me? I don't often get to share pizza with funny chicks." Everyone knows i have a weakness for tattoos, "what do you mean?" I indicate his tattoos. "Oh, I cover up sometimes. I look pretty effing hot in a suit too, you know?" Dylan is one of the easy going guys, he's just so cute, "he scoffs. "I don't date." I bite the noodles so I can't comment. "I'd date you though," he says quietly." I think Sky changes Dylan for the better, "this is my place. No one comes here. So I haven't got any effing condoms!" I giggle in relief and at his frustration, ignoring my own, and he smiles in return. "I'm so wound up, right now, I could hold you down and tease you until you come but I'm too selfish." The cliffhanger was a doozy, but luckily for me I got the second book.

What can I tell you about Summer Sky? .... Well firstly, I really enjoyed it :) Unfortunately, for me, this is only the first instalment, which is why it gets four stars and not not five... The story is incomplete for me. Having said that, this is a wonderful story. Dylan is the lead singer in the band 'Blue Phoenix' ... So super famous that everybody knows who they are .... Well... Nearly everybody... Enter Sky. Sky is just your typical young woman running away from the man who broke her heart (bastard)... Sky and Dylan are thrown together in quite unusual circumstances. One of the things I most enjoy about this story is the fact that Sky really doesn't know who this big shot is... And Dylan can't quite believe that anyone could be so in the dark about who he is. There is a chance that Dylan may be able to mend Sky's broken heart and a chance that Sky may be able to bring some sense and normalcy into Dylan's life. This is something he desperately needs ... There's just a few little problems... Sky feels she doesn't fit in Dylan's crazy 'Rock Star' world, because seriously... Who does? And Dylan can't tear himself away from it, though he desperately wants to. This is only one of their problems. Throw in a disgruntled fellow band member who wants to punish Dylan for a part in a past wrong, and we have a recipe for disaster. Sadly secrets and half truths may well be their undoing ... I'm rooting for these crazy kids to work it all out and make a go at a happy ending. They aren't there yet... But I hope they find their way.... I love the peek behind the curtain that shows us, even rock stars don't have perfect lives. I can't wait to get into book #2 'Falling Sky'.

~this review may contain minor spoilers~
I'm a confused, hurt girl escaping a broken relationship. I'm not the heroine of some book where a sexy rock star falls for the confused, hurt girl and makes everything better with amazing sex and sweet words of undying love.
Apparently I've been going on all my summer vacations to the wrong places because that has never happened to me. I was first introduced to Lisa Swallow through her Butterfly Days series and this book reminded me why I love this woman so much. She has the ability to send me from a lust induced haze, to hair pulling frustration, to fire breathing anger, to ugly cry heartbreak, all in a matter of seconds. So many emotions she forces on you in the span of her books-it just knocks you on your a** and I love every second of it. This book was no different. I loved it even while it had me screaming bloody murder.
“We're living in an illusion. Where you're Dylan, I'm Sky and the rest of the world doesn't exist. As soon as we step outside of the fantasy, we won't exist anymore.”
Sky Davis changed her entire life around for her boyfriend of five years, only to come home to him screwing someone else. With her relationship in shambles, she decides to skip town and take some time away to collect herself. She heads off to BroadBeach where she vacationed with her family growing up.
I rub my eyes, fighting thoughts of Bristol and d***head, cheating boyfriends. And wondering if I'll have sex with Dylan before I go home.
Oh, wow.
Does he have this effect on every woman? I suspect so.
Dylan Morgan, lead singer of the famous rock band 'Blue Phoenix', needs to get away. The life of a rock star isn't all it's cracked up to be and he needs a break from the drugs, booze, and ever-watchful eyes of the public. So he picks up and disappears without a word to anyone, back to BroadBeach -a place that holds many fond memories from his childhood. And that is where his life collides with his Summer Sky...literally.
“I'm not staying with you; you could be a psychopath or something.”
“Or something? What's worse than a psychopath?”
An arrogant but disarmingly attractive bare-chested man stirring things that should remain unstirred, that's what.
As they both attempt to escape the realities of their current situations by revisiting their childhood getaway together, they form an unexpected connection. Dylan is thrilled that Sky has no idea who he actually is, so he's able to just be himself around her, which is a welcomed change. But Sky is scared of the feeling he stirs in her after her recent heartbreak.
I don't think rock gods cuddle much, or ask people to be their summer crush, so now all I need to do is figure out what being his summer crush entails.
When their summer vacation comes to an abrupt end and Sky learns who Dylan really is, can he convince her to be more than just his summer crush? Can Sky handle being a part of Dylan's very public life when it's clear to her that she just doesn't fit into it? Do they even stand a chance when a fellow band member makes it his mission to come between them?
My frustration level was brought to an all time high in this book thanks to dear ol' Summer Sky, this chick brings all new meaning to the word stubborn. And Dylan?! Oh my sweet lord this man was Hott. As. Hell! But hello Mr. Mood-swings. Oh and just an FYI **brace yourself for my screaming** CLIFFHANGER – but oh so worth the read. Ms. Lisa Swallow, once again you take my breath away, have stolen my heart and my sanity so I must ask....
When does the next book come out?! Now I will commence with my stalking ;)
“I know we don't know each other very well but something about you fills a space inside that's been empty for so long. Don't let me f*** this up before we've started.”

WOW! Lisa Swallow more than delivers with this first instalment 'Summer Sky' of the Blue Phoenix series.
You, the reader, are immediately drawn in and totally invested in the two lead characters Sky and Dylan. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!!!!
You have two people running from the turmoil that is their lives. A Rock God who's burnt out and frustrated that his life/career is no longer his own and a women who's heartbroken by her boyfriends betrayal and subsequent break up.
This book is exceptionally well written and I say this because I laughed, cried, got angry, was heartbroken and felt extremely frustrated with Sky and Dylan's budding romance. I just wanted to butt their heads together (especially Sky) and say 'Get it together!' Ugh!!!! As the reader you KNOW they're perfect for each other but circumstances keep getting in their way. Only an exceptional writer can wring so many emotions out of the reader!
THIS BOOK HAS IT ALL LADIES!!!!
A tortured Rock God (who's used to women throwing themselves at him) and a strong 'REAL' woman who doesn't even know who he is, has a sassy mouth and isn't afraid to be herself!
Cannot wait to read the rest of the series ???
DEFINITE 5 STARS!!!!

Hot rock star with washboard abs, bacon (lots of bacon), and a sassy sarcastic heroine... I couldn't have asked for more!!!
(*Sigh*) I love this book! Summer Sky is sweet, sexy, frustrating, and heart melting all at the same time. It’s one of those books that’s just simply wonderful. I swear I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading.... well until the last page that is.
“I’ll give you my heart to take care of, if you’ll give me yours to mend.” – Dylan
The laughs began within a few pages and I was hooked. This is one of those stories that is so sweet and genuine, you wish you were the heroine. I absolutely adore Sky. She has such a sarcastic, sassy, and funny mouth on her. She’s real and genuine and doesn’t put up with any of Dylan’s crap. And, Dylan…….. well, he just says the most heart melting things. Ugh… I love that he wants Sky to be more than just his “summer Sky”. He wants real and genuine, and that’s exactly what he finds in Sky.
So what’s the short and sweet????? It’s a great story about a girl that falls in love with a famous rock star having never known who he even was in the first place. The book is divided into part 1 and part 2. Part 1 my heart was happy and melting. Part 2 not so much... it was more like hurting. Even so, I cannot wait for the next book to see what happens to Dylan and Sky!

OMG!! I loved Summer Sky. It's a drop everything and read now book. The beginning is in Sky's POV, then half way through the book we get Dylan's POV added.
Sky and Dylan meet by accident, literally during a rear end accident. Then the meet again when Dylan has rented a beach house that Sky thought her Grandmother said she could stay in. It's really funny when the run into each other. The banter between them is great.
Sky has no idea who Dylan is. He tell her he is a rock star but not from what band or how popular the band is. She resists the urge to google him to see who he is and he doesn't tell her. They build their own world where no one else exists.
When the real world crashes down on them, it's not pretty for the relationship that they have built. Can they have a relationship in the real world? You'll just have to read it to find out. You won't be disappointed.
I was warned there was a cliffhanger but wow was there a cliffhanger! It's a mind blowing, jaw dropping cliffhanger. There is a bombshell revealed at the end of the book that is shocking. I can't wait to read more.

In Summer Sky by Lisa Swallow, Sky Davis ventures out to her grandmother’s rental house to forget about her now EX-boyfriend Grant. The last thing she wanted was romance. Rock star Dylan Morgan wants to leave fame behind, escape the paparazzi and his controlling agent by hiding away in the same rental house as Sky. Two completely different worlds and personalities collide under one roof. What good could come from falling for a rock star?
I loved the different personalities Lisa Swallow wrote about in her book and how they interact with one another. Each emotional conflict that arose deepened the plot, having the characters walk a fine line since both are from different lifestyles. The author did a great job showing the difference between the character’s lifestyles and true problems that could arise and threaten to tear apart a relationship.

Please RateA British Rock Star Romance (Blue Phoenix Book 1)
This story started off as a cute 4 stars. I was enjoying it, it was easy and light. But then Sky started getting a little crazy. Then Dylan started going a little stalkerish. Then Sky got worse. Then Dylan. This was a whirlwind of messy, unnecessary, *insert any other adjective that I can't think of* drama that I wish I never subjected myself to. Which sucks because I was really looking forward to this.
Most of Summer Sky floated back and forth between 2 and 3 stars, so at anytime my review could change between the two. 2.5 is probably a solid guess. I hate pretty much everyone involved. Then upgraded to only disliking Dylan but just kidding, I actually hate him again.
Oh and this ends in a cliffhanger. Excellent, I didn't know that. And now I'm going to find the next book, skim the crap out of it just so I can have some closure and then throw it at a wall.
*Edited. I actually read the second book and enjoyed it a lot more.*
The end.
