I read anything and everything by Rachel! I wasn't expecting to enjoy a football story this much and loved the fact Emerson has curves! I couldn't put it down ,stayed up way past bedtime and felt like a bug eyed zombie at work the next day but it was completely worth it!

This book wasn't my favorite by Rachel Van Dyken. I like love triangles sometimes but I wasn't a fan of this one...the only way I can write this review is with spoilers so if you don't want to know look away now.
SPOILER
I did not like that the majority of this book is written in Emerson and Miller's PIC. Now that normally wouldn't be a problem for me is Miller was who she ends up with...spoiler it's not.
What I did like was Grant, he is prefect for Em and the bigger man all around. But I think we needed his POV. For me this book was written like Grant was gonna screw up and she was gonna pick Miller, but he never screws up and she chooses him.
Miller was just a selfish jerk, he was all about himself and how he felt. He was a terrible friend, when they lose contact in High school he could have tried to get a hold of her. I mean he had her address!! He knew where she lived he just walked away and blamed her. I hate that about I'm. He was not my favorite character. In this book Grant is the favorite.
So anyways I'm rating this book 3 stars because I like Emerson and Grant together, bit I think we should have had more of Grants POV, and I just didn't like Miller.

Holy Smokes! Rachel Van Dyken has a new series, The Players, that is going to change the game. Fraternize is the first book in The Players series and it is a solid five star book that will leave readers wanting MORE! Yes it ended on a cliffhanger and I'm dying for the next book but I must say what takes place in this book is unlike anything Rachel has written. A love triangle that keeps the readers hearts ricochetting from one moment to the next. The ride is exciting, unpredictable, and emotional.
Emerson Ryder has achieved her dream, she has become an NFL cheerleader. She is not the typical cheerleader with the perfect body. She has curves and embraces her body shape wholeheartedly. The demands of professional cheerleading go beyond practices and games, there are rules and they are written in a manuel. From the dietary restrictions, surprise weigh ins, behavior modifications, the manuel rules her life. One of the biggest and most serious rules is no fraternizing with the football players. Emerson can accept and abide by these rules except the fraternizing one. A guy from her past is a player on the Bellevue Bucks and they have a steamy and stormy history. It also doesn't help that there is another player that has staked his claim and set his sights on her.
Miller Quinton was her childhood best friend and first love. Their relationship took a dramatic turn when circumstances beyond their control changed the direction of both of their lives. Their communications were broken without explanation. They both blame one another but neither knows the truth about what happened. Assumptions led to heartbreak and hard feelings. Now they are once again in each other's lives. Do they leave the past alone or do they start a new chapter in their story? Miller was Emerson's greatest love and greatest heartbreak. She loved him with her entire heart and still has feelings for him. Should she let him become a part of her life or leave the past alone or does she move on to what's being offered in her present life?
Grant Sanchez is the captain of the team and has set his sights on Emerson. Grant is drop dead gorgeous, charming, and a notorious player. He's in full pursuit of Emerson, wearing her down one charming smile at a time. Beneath the charming surface lies a man who is thoughtful, kind hearted, respectful, and considerate. Emerson is falling and the only thing holding her back is Miller.
Emerson has a dilemma, does she embrace a new future or repair the broken past and embrace a new chapter? The choices are impossible because each man is equally deserving of her love.
Let me tell you, I fell hard for both men. I thought I had my heart set on one man until I hit the next chapter and then my heart was beating for the other man. I still can't choose and am anxious to see what comes next.
I'm not a fan of love triangles but can honestly say Rachel Van Dyken knocked it out of the stadium with Fraternize and I'm waiting to see which man wins the championship!

Worst book that I've read this year. Normally I like Rachel Van Dyken's books, but this one was terrible. After spending all this time in Miller's head, reading from his point of view, and Emerson chooses Sanchez?! After all this "they had a special relationship" and she ends up with the new guy instead of her best friend?! That makes no sense!!! I feel that if we had had Sanchez's point of view from the beginning, if Miller had continued to be a jerk, I could understand it, but I feel like I have whiplash from the change in direction. Not sure I'm going to read another Van Dyken book again.

Emerson has been working hard to achieve her dream of being a professional cheerleader, but her body type has always held her back. Refusing to change herself, but never backing down from the try outs is about to pay off...
With a strict no fraternization policy on the team, she of course would find herself with not only the attention of one player, but two. Grant Sanchez has playboy written all over him, but won't take no for an answer. Then there's Miller Quinton... who she has a seriously complicated past with...
Grant and Miller may be interested in the same woman... but as teammates they decide come to an understanding about the whole thing... so... may the best man win...
I adored this book! While I'm not a typical fan of 'love triangles'... this story was done so well, and I liked all of the characters involved for such different reasons. Emerson is a strong woman, who has been through a lot since she last saw Miller. Miller himself has worked hard to be where he is, and has always wanted more with Emerson... even after they parted ways. Grant is an adorable, genuinely nice guy, who makes the whole dilemma easy on everyone involved in his own unique way.
With the hilarious, classic characters we always see from this author, who form some amazing friendships where you least expect it... and a storyline you think is going to go one way, but turns out to be something so much more than what you expected. This book is a fantastic start to the series... and a fun and sexy must read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

As always Rachel Van Dyken takes you to this whole new level of awe with her amazing talent. There are so many underlying messages you can take away from this story. Gosh…I’m so in love with these characters!!
Rachel delivers another all-consuming read that will have your emotions all over the place. This story is blended with the perfect dosage of heartache, sadness, happiness, joy, humor, love and tons of swoon worthy moments. I mean we have not one but TWO sexy AF football players right? How could it not be?!
I’m still having a hard time picking between Grant and Miller. *sigh* I think I’ll just keep them both
The characters and character development in this story had me reeling but in a good way. Emerson’s determination and strength despite her insecurities was so beautifully written. Again, Grant and Miller, I don’t think I can choose. Grant’s cocky and playful attitude was endearing and annoying at times but I still loved him. He was just so supportive and caring towards Emerson. And mad respect for both men with the way the situation played out. I’m so glad Rachel delivered the story how it is with men who showed respect and actually took the Emerson’s feelings into consideration. It was just so well played. My heart hurt, yes, because poor Miller and Emerson battle with their feelings because they lost a solid friendship.
Overall, this is just an amazing read. One of friendship, love, healing and moving on. A phenomenal story that I will no doubt revisit. I am most definitely already anticipating the next book.

Rachel reading scored with this one! Fraternize is one of those books that keeps you on your toes throughout the whole book. Reading it I totally thought I knew where the author was going only to be extremely surprised.
The characters are loveable, funny and sexy. I especially like that the heroine is not a size two. We don't get enough curvy female characters and it really is nice to see. We all have insecurities and I loved that it was part of the story.
Emerson and Miller have been friends forever, eventually turning into something more. When tragic strikes and he has to leave misunderstandings end up keeping them separated. Years later they are put back together only then someone new is standing in the way.
This is a really good read and the author did a fantastic job in writing her story. I highly recommend it and can't wait for more of this series.

“I had the collegiate experience.
The voice.
The skills. But I was lacking one thing.
The ability to squeeze my body into a size two, four six, eight. Who do we appreciate?
Food, damn it!”
Those of you who follow the Pages Abound blog know that I am a huge Rachel Van Dyken fan. So when I learned she would be combining a curvy woman into a sports romance, I was giddy with excitement. This girl loves her curves and I was thrilled to see an author embrace the struggles many of us face in regard to size. Add in the love for all things football, with not just one but two sexy players, and I was calling for a touchdown. Therefore, it is no surprise that I tell you that Rachel Van Dyken has given her readers another beginning to a series that will pull at your heart strings and lead you into her carefully crafted story of a love triangle.
Now I know many of you may say that you are just not interested in the idea of a love triangle, but I felt this offered a different perspective. This is not about one person cheating or playing the field to find the one. This is the story of a woman who has learned to overcome the struggles life had thrown her way, of a woman who has come to love the woman she is and continues to go after the dreams and desires that have often felt out of reach; and in doing so, she finds herself coming face to face with her past and the path of her future. Making the story even more dynamic is that fact that the two men vying for her heart, Miller Quinton and Grant Sanchez, are brother on the football field.
“The man kissed like he played—without apology and without fear.”
Miller has been the love of Emerson’s life for over six years, even if he broke her heart. Their connection was simply too great and their friendship meant the world to her. But when Miller’s father moves them away, their relationship is severed by one phone call. The hurt has been a weight for both, causing each to hope they will never run across one another. But fate has different ideas. Besides, Em really does still love him. So when the two are brought together, hearts are tested and fear and hurt must be addressed. Will the past bring them together, or is there too much lost for the two to find the love they both still hold for one another?
But there is another who has his sights set on Em. Grant Sanchez is the star player for the Bucks and he likes that Emerson is different than the other girls. Her curves call to him. But Sanchez is the team player. In fact, is it a tradition that bets are placed at the beginning of the season to see who can pursue the cheerleader of his choosing until she gives in. So is Sanchez’s interest in Em real, or is it all for show? Em is taken by his smile and the joy she finds when she is with him, but the guilt she feels over Miller is still weighing heavy on her heart.
“Because no matter how damaged your heart may be, it never loses its ability to choose again, to try again, to want to love even after loss.
How could something so wrong feel so right?”
As the story progresses and both the brooding Miller and the cocky and sweet-talking Sanchez begin to vie for Emerson, the back stories for which Rachel is so good a weaving are revealed, giving readers a deeper understanding into the two amazing men. It is through the relationship of these three together, the deep bantering, and the brotherhood that is developed between Miller and Sanchez that the story’s strength comes. It is through the carefully crafted interactions and reactions to situations that readers become engrossed in the story, finding themselves struggling through the journey Em must take to come to terms with her heart and her head in order to find her future. Emerson’s decision is a tough one, but both men are deserving. The question simply comes down to the role each will play in the happiness she sees in her future.
“I was still afraid, afraid that this was a dream, that this feeling—this thing we had between us—wasn’t real.
And I needed it so badly to be real.”

Fraternize is book one in a brand new series, Players Game, by Rachel Van Dyken. When I decided to read this book, first, it was because I love this author. So that alone assured that I would enjoy the book. But I wasn’t prepared for how this book made me feel. It is a love triangle so you need to know that right up front. But not your usual love triangle. This is a woman that just achieved her life long dream. But as soon as she got there, she was faced with both someone from her past re-entering her life, and someone new coming into her life. She is faced with choosing between her past and her present. Between an old love or a new love.
Emerson Rodner is not your typical skinny girl. She has curves. Her lifelong dream was to be an NFL Cheerleader. She has tried out before but never made it. But this year was the one. She was accepted into the cheerleading squad of the Bellevue Bucks. Their manual pretty much rules their life. Diet restrictions, surprise weigh ins, and most importantly, no fraternizing with the football players.
It’s her first day of practice and Emerson meets Grant Sanchez, one of the captains of the team. Grant is gorgeous and is known for his playboy ways. Grant has set his sights on Emerson. He slowly wears her down. And to her surprise, he is not the man she thought he was at all. He is sweet, considerate, kind, and boy does this man had the ability to sweet talk. I heard myself sigh out loud while I was reading this. This man made me swoon, made my heart miss a few beats. He was adorable.
But with all these things going on in Emerson’s life, she is forced to face someone from her past at the same time. Miller Quinton was her childhood best friend. And in their last year together, he became her first love. She gave him her virginity. But then his dad moved them away and all connections were broken. She blames Miller but Miller thinks it’s her fault. Neither of them really know the truth, what caused them to lose contact. Miller was the love of her life and the source of her greatest pain. One look at him and she knows she still loves him. But he is her past. Could he be a part of her future? Or was there too much history?
“No matter how damaged your heart may be, it never loses its ability to choose again, to try again, to want love even after loss. How could something so wrong feel so right?”
I think I lived this book right along with Emerson! I was completely emotionally invested. And I completely ended up feeling exactly the opposite as I thought I would. Both of these men loved Emerson. Both wanted nothing but her happiness for her. One of them would have to make the sacrifice. Would have to decide that they weren’t the right man for her. That she would be better off with the other one.
What I also loved about this book was that it showed the closeness of the football players, the brotherhood. How they had each other’s backs. What they would do for each other. Was there a bad seed in the group? Yes. But aside from him, these men couldn’t be any closer. There was nothing they wouldn’t do for each other. And it showed in their games, in their abilities as a team.
“I was still afraid, afraid that this was a dream, that this feeling - this thing we had between us - wasn’t real. And I needed it so badly to be real. For something this good to stay this good.”
My rating for this book started out as a four. Then it quickly went to a five. I fell in love. I fell for all three of these characters. One in particular will stay with me. Which one? I don’t want to say. I want to see who you chose. Then I’ll tell you. So if you want a book about real people, real emotions, real issues, while still being fun, sexy and sweet, this one is for you. I loved it. I hope you do too.
“You like me because I find your faults?”
“No! I like you because you make me want to fix them.”

Warning!! This contains spoilers.. but I can't give an honest review without them
I'm so madd!!! I loved this book until the end... it contained the hilarious dialog and amazing back stories from the two main characters.. then I kept waiting for the main characters to come back together.. until they didn't.. I don't really understand the twist.. Why bind two characters together just for them to remain apart.. I was binge reading this book to get to the good part only for it to never come. I feel like I have wasted two days of my life.

Wow! That was completely unexpected. I've read a few of Rachel Van Dykens romcoms and loved them so I jumped at the chance to read this newest from her. What I wasn't expecting was how emotional this book was going to be. It was very funny and I had a lot of laugh out loud moments, but I also cried in a couple of scenes. This had a great balance of humor and seriousness.
Im not a fan of love triangles and the only reason I gave this a shot was because of the author. As you can see by my 5 Star rating, I loved it! It's not what I was expecting of a love triangle. I actually felt everyone was where they should be at the end. I didn't feel sorry for the one that didn't get chosen. It's not to say I wasn't conflicted, because I loved all the characters! There was no bad guy in this story. Well, except for a teammate that stirred a bit of trouble for them, but the author closed this up very nicely.
I hope this doesn't spoil anything but I feel like I have to mention that the author shocked me with who Emerson ends up with. I thought I knew where this story was going and then it dawned on me at one particular moment in the book that I was wrong. I had to stop reading and think back to the all the previous moments and see it with new eyes. I kind of love that! It was pretty brilliant and the reason why this went from 4 to 5 stars.
When I said the author wrapped this up nicely? That's the reason I wasn't sad about who lost out. We got to see him open his eyes and see someone else which I assume was the teaser for the new next book. I'm so invested in these people that I can't wait! ARC provided by NetGalley.

Sometimes books can surprise you and completely take your breath away. This book certainly did that and more. I don’t know why it took me so long to pick this book up, but I had so much fun reading Fraternize and still cannot stop thinking about it!
I think sports romances are seriously growing on me. Or maybe this book was just so well-written and filled with so many emotions that I fell instantly and ridiculously in love with the characters and their stories. Fraternize is hilarious, sweet, heartfelt, and deeply affecting. An amazingly breathtaking story about healing, forgiveness, friendship and finding love again. It had me swooning, laughing, crying and smiling through the ugly tears. I was an emotional mess… but the absolute best kind.
Love triangles suck… I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with them cause I never know how I’ll react. I honestly don’t like being torn and that’s exactly how I was with this book. My heart was aching and splitting in two because I loved both Miller and Sanchez so damn much. They had a lot of amazing, adorable, and endearing qualities I love in book boyfriends…actually make that IRL. They were both passionate, protective, sweet, hard-working, caring, and would do anything for the people they love. They’re totally swoony, sexy, lovable, and undeniable hard to resist. Even if I did favor one over the other, I still couldn’t choose the “ONE” I wanted Emerson to pick. When it was obvious who she was going to choose, I didn’t want to keep reading, but at the same time I couldn’t stop. It was torture and I was prepared for so much heartbreak. However, as sad as I was for the man she left behind, I was actually really happy with who Emerson ended up with in the end. My heart certainly did break into pieces, but it was also full of hope, love, and so much joy by the time I finished. Everything just fell into place and I couldn’t be happier with how this story ended.
Fraternize is the first book I’ve read by Rachel Van Dyken and I’ll have you know that it most definitely will not be the last. The pacing was really great and her writing style is incredibly engaging, emotional, and wonderfully evocative. I loved the POVs and felt that I really connected with the characters and was able to experience all their pain, sadness, excitement, happiness, and love. I absolutely adored them all — Emerson, Kinsey, Miller, Sanchez, Jax and even the other side characters. They were just really charming, hilarious, and so likable.
The romances were sweet, cute and also painfully real. It had all the ups and downs, the smiles and tears, and every FEELS. I really enjoyed the past and present love stories and thought they were beautifully well-written. Also, huge props to Rachel Van Dyken for creating fantastic love interests. Like I said, I did favor one, but I truly cared for the both of them. I also loved that they wanted Emerson to be happy and did whatever they had to do to give Emerson her HEA. And that’s one of the main reasons I fell so hard for them. Not to mention, Miller and Sanchez had this adorably funny and heartwarming bromance that made me smile and swoon.
With amazingly written storylines, lovable characters, and heart tugging moments, Fraternize gave me plenty of achingly delicious swoons and feels. I adored every single moment from beginning to end and had one of the most delightfully emotional and affecting experience. I have no doubt that this will end up on my top favorite reads this year and I honestly cannot recommend it enough.
I received an advance reader copy of this from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thought and opinions are my own.

Rachel Van Dyken you naughty, saucy lady! I think I may be a little bit in love with Ms. Van Dyken. I just love the feel and heart of her stories. She gets me every. Freaking. Time. I swear I try and remain nonchalant, but before I know it— I'm an excitable puppy wagging its tail, drooling and peeing (I've had two kids, my bladder wants revenge) with excitement...skidding all over the place because my excitement has made my legs pointless. Just a freaking mess of woman. And, I wish I was even a little ashamed of that, but I'm not. It's like it just adds to my experience of the book. I've got serious girl crush issues going on when it comes to this gorgeous lady, and they just seem to grow with every book of hers that I read. Her characters are delicious and her stories are hearty and consuming... maaaaaaan!
Anywho, lets talk about Fraternize... I feel like I need to centre myself and ommmmm my way to sanity just so I can even begin to talk about this holy freaking love triangle.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Lets go.
Right, so... I love myself a love triangle. I don't know what it is about them, but it just gets me going. There's something about the angst that is born out of the situation that grips me and has me on the edge of my seat. It's almost like it gives me shots of adrenaline and I thrive on it. All I know is that one minute I started Fraternize and the next it was over and I was like what?!? I became addicted and desperate for every word and every interaction. I read this book in one sitting and then I contemplated rereading it in a consecutive sitting. At that point I knew I had to force myself to put my kindle down and walk away, even if it killed me. I was just not ready to say goodbye to Emerson, Grant or Quinton... swoooon...
Although I've read quite a few sports romances, I actually found that this was a fresh take on the genre‚ especially with the love triangle. This story is very much a collision of past, present and future. A tug of war between first and unexpected love. If that makes sense? I felt every ounce of Emerson's pain, lust and love. It was like I was a part of her journey, I experienced everything with her. Saying that, I felt like there was more emphasis on Quinton , and it's probably due to their past. Did I feel like this impacted the way I empathised and felt toward Grant? No. Both of these guys are very much in love with Emerson and they are willing to do what it takes to make her happy, so for me it didn't matter that Quinton seemed to take up a lot more storyline. In fact, if I'm honest, it probably made me more curious about Grant. It made me really take note of every bit of him that was offered to me. I know that for some readers it will feel like they didn't get know him as well as they got to know Quinton— but, it also made the fact that Emerson does know Quinton better because of their past very real. It really helped get into her shoes and her frame of mind through her plight of having to choose between Grant and Quinton. It gave you that extra insight into how she sees them and how at odds she is with herself over her decision making.
One aspect of this book that I found brilliant is the little details that Rachel added in about the sport itself— they weren't too much or distracting to the romance—made it a really well balanced read. You got essence of team spirit and the feel of the close knitted brotherhood and all the hard work that goes into the sport. But it also served to show each of their characters and how tenacious they are in their own ways. This really gave you different insights into their characters. It gave this story some solid grounding. In my opinion the sports aspect of this story made it real, gritty and believable. It's not often that an author uses the sport to develop the characters in a way that takes the romance up notch— Rachel Van Dyken smashed it in that aspect. This is an incredible, multifaceted plot where there isn't a right or wrong choice/ path... it really is a game of hearts.
I am so devastated that I devoured this book so quickly. I could've done with more. Fraternize is the perfect start to a series that I just know I'm not going to be able to resist, let alone put down. It had me agonising and confused over my choice— if it were mine to make. I cannot wait for the next book in the series, Infraction. I am so bummed that I'll have to wait till Jan 2018. I feel like I may actually die waiting because I am hooked. I'm so desperate to get my hands on this book!
If you are a lover of sports romances, love triangles and witty, steamy and swoony romance... this book is for you. The characters are strong, the plot is entrancing. This is just a great easy, light read that'll have you addicted from the get go. One thing I will say, due to the age of the characters I personally would say it's a new adult/ coming of age romance— even if these guys know how to make panties spontaneously combust!
I loved this story! Fraternize is the first book in the new Players series. It has a semi-love triangle storyline and it kept me guessing until the last moment. With a glimpse into the past, every now and then, we see exactly what Miller and Emerson’s relationship was before the hurt and anger.
Emerson Rodner and Miller Quinton were best friends in high school. She was a cheerleader and he was on the football team. Em was always concerned about her weight and large curves; she was the largest cheerleader on the squad, something Miller loved about her. When his mother suddenly dies, his Navy father is relocated to Louisiana, in the middle of his senior year, leaving Miller angry about the move. Despite his father saying Em would forget about him, Miller is sure that once he graduates he’ll be offered a college scholarship and they can be together again. The best friends promised to keep in touch with each other, but somehow that never happens, and they never hear from each other again.
“She was wrong. Nothing would ever be great again.
Not without my mom.
Not without my best friend.
And d*mn if it wasn’t painfully true. I had no idea that when I hung up the phone it would be the last real conversation we would ever have.
Then again, neither did she.
Like death, sometimes life just happens."
Each of them was still hurt and unforgiving, years later, and Miller never went back to Seattle. He became an NFL star two years ago, as a tight end, on an East Coast team, far away from Emerson.
Emerson’s life has not been what she had expected. Due to her father’s health their financial situation has gone downhill and she’s now is responsible for his welfare. Em’s always dreamed of joining Seattle’s NFL team, the Bucks, as a professional cheerleader. Now, after trying out several times, she finally makes the squad. And just her luck, Miller’s been traded to the Bucks.
Grant Sanchez is the best receiver of the league and belongs to the Bucks. He welcomes Miller to the team, despite having been enemies when they were on opposite teams, Sanchez now tells him they’re brothers. When he spies Emerson, at training camp, Sanchez calls dibs on the new cheerleader, something the players do every year. Sanchez hasn’t had a serious relationship since his last girlfriend betrayed him and left him a little bitter. He’s been a carefree manwhore ever since, something he enjoys and takes pride in. With his flirty ways and genuine interest in her Sanchez works his way into Ems life something he or she wasn’t expecting.
Miller is surprised to see Em is on the squad, he's still very angry at her and he doesn’t hide it very well. Emerson feels she's the victim and is curious as to why he’s the offended party.
“Six years ago, I’d kissed a football player and lost my heart.”
Will Miller and Emerson finally know the real reason they lost touch with each other? And be able to forgive so much hurt and misunderstanding? I loved both Grant and Miller, they both had deep feelings for Emerson, and I was unsure of what the outcome would be. I can only say that the best man won her heart! I look forward to more Players on the field **happy sigh**

OH MY GOSH! OMGGGGG!!! FRATERNIZE IS SOOOO GOOD!!! IT'S SOOOO AMAZING!!! AND I LOVE IT SOOOO MUCH!!! This book totally blew me away. I can't seem to find the words to describe how I feel right now. My emotions were on high gears while reading it. I've been saying it a lot of times and I'm saying it again :
THIS BOOK literally got me HOOKED!!! Had the hardest time putting it down. Thank you so much Rachel for the ARC. It's definitely my newest favorite!
To be honest, I'm not really a fan of love triangles because I always feel bad for the guy who ends up heartbroken. But this book was a game changer for me. Rachel wrote it beautifully that I just can't help falling in love with both Miller and Grant. Though I fell in love with Miller first because he was so protective, so attentive and so loving to Emerson when they were younger. I love the friendship that he and Emerson shared. It was something special that most of us probably dreamt of having. That's what made me root for him. But then I also found myself getting attached to Grant. He's the perfect gentleman with a big heart. He can be a cocky bastard sometimes but he was very patient, caring, and lovingly devoted to Emerson. Both were equally marvelous. I was having a hard time choosing sides as I read on. I never imagined I would fall in love with both guys in a triangle. Two hot alpha males bursting with love in their hearts. Miller was Emerson's past and he was trying to regain what they've lost while Grant was inching his way to her heart in the present.
I love everything about this book. The emotions were so real that I felt every pain and hurt that Miller and Emerson had in those years that they were apart. My heart was constantly beating fast and bled a lot of times. But shout out to Rachel for turning a heart breaking story into a happily ever after that would leave us smiling, hearts heaving a sigh of relief, and still begging for more. The best form of friendship and camaraderie that you always get from her books gets you falling in love with the main characters and also with their friends as well.
I highly recommend this heart warming and uber amazing book. I love how it induced me to laugh a bit, smile a lot, cry so hard and swoon till my heart melted. It's the perfect charming recipe that always works for me. It's too difficult to make a review without spoiling it for everyone else. But know that just like all of Rachel's books, be ready to have the time of your life. Be ready to swoon and be swept off your feet as you fall in love with two gorgeous men. My heart may have been broken but it was mended a 100% better.
I would have wanted to read on and on and never stop. The ending was splendid and winding up with a promise of another wonderful reading experience on the next book in the series. And as usual, I'm off to counting the days till I'll be reunited with my favorite football team and be swept off my feet by a hunk again and again. TWO BIG THUMBS UP!

*Before you go diving in and one clicking this, please note it's a kind of love triangle so stay away if your opposed to that kinda stuff.
Emerson reaches her dream of being a professional cheerleader for the Bucks and it wasn't easy. You see Emerson is all curves and not the typical size 4 stereotype that a cheerleader would be. Reasons being she suits her curves, has them in all the right places, she rocks at cheer leading and as long as she keeps working hard and keeps her weight stable then it's not a problem. Emerson takes a tour of the stadium the day before she starts, she meets the charming Grant Sanchez on her way out and boy does he have all the charm and he is determined to become more than friends. Fate sometimes doesn't work out though because she then finds out her first love Miller Quinton is now playing for the Bucks and after the way he left her hanging she's not sure her heart can take anymore pain. Who will her heart give in to? or will it be broken when she finds out the teams seasonal game?
I loved loved loved this book and for me it was another big hit from the author. I may need some form of anti acids though for all the heartburn it gave me lol!.
I loved Emersons character, she was sweet and caring but she had that sadness vibe around her from all she has and is still going through, you just couldn't not love her and I just wanted to squish her in a giant hug. My heart went out to Miller the most he was caring, understanding and yet torn on the inside and all because of his fathers actions. Grant was just a typical lad on the outside all manly and full of patter but on the inside he was mushy and sweet, he was just everything you would want in a man.
Usually I wouldn't typically pick up a sports romance because it's one of those topics that if you have read one you have read them all but with this one coming from one of my favourite authors I just had to read it and I am so glad I did. It's got Rachel Van Dyken's usual array of laugh out loud moments as well as all the angst you would expect with this type of book. There is no cliffy as the next book is about a different character but the ending will definitely leave you wanting the next instalment sooner rather than later. If this is your kinda thing then I promise you won't be disappointed.

Becoming a professional cheerleader, like her mom, has always been Emerson Rodner’s dream. Her size had never been a problem for her, but it was for some people, and in spite of being a big girl, Emerson soldiered on. Emerson had never gotten forgotten her high school best friend Miller Quinton, even after he broke her heart when he left town to play football and never looked back. Six years later, Emerson has finally realised her dream and she is one on the Bellevue Bucks’ cheerleading squad. Notorious player Grant Sanchez has been giving Emerson the once-over many, many times, and he has even propositioned her several times, which Emerson takes all in stride; Sanchez just can’t help himself. Sanchez is just not Miller. Besides players and cheerleaders are officially forbidden to FRATERNIZE, although unofficially is another story. Anyway, Miller Quinton has just been traded to the Bucks…
With FRATERNIZE, Rachel Van Dyken proves again that she is one of the most daring writers around with her unconventional heroes and heroines, unique plot twists, splendid character development, and outstanding dialogues. In fact, FRATERNIZE has some of the most brilliant dialogues ever written. Ms. Van Dyken’s characters are so convincing that even I could not resist Sanchez, bombast and swagger included. Emerson is a female character every one of us should aspire to become, and Miller is simply such a darling man, even with all his imperfections.
Ms. Van Dyken knows her football and everything connected to the sport felt absolutely authentic, right down to the hazards pro athletes face on and off the field. I hope to see Jax’s story soon, he is ever so perplexing, and his book is going to be epic! Players Game is going to be one awesome series!

I probably would have given this four stars, but I really can't stand love triangles, and that's a huge part of this book. Not only that, but the way it was written in the first half did not at all prepare me for the huge swerve it did in the end. This was my first book by this author and while I thought I would like her writing based on recommendations, I just did not feel this book. I like a strong heroine and I'm sorry, but any girl who is torn between two men is not strong. To be fair, I read the first half of the book last night and was sort of not angry about the torn between two men thing... and then I woke up this morning and started reading and realized how it was going to end and thought, "there had been some pretty amazing plot twists to get me there" and there just weren't. It wasn't awful, it just wasn't great and didn't leave me smiling in the end.
Ironically, I'll probably read and enjoy the second book in the series just because it's set up in this book and doesn't seem at all to be using the love triangle mess. I like the characters for the most part, I just can't handle the "can't decide" part of any woman. It would make me lose respect for a real woman and I sure don't want it to be 3/4 of a romance novel. I could see maybe a little at the beginning but resolve that plot point and move on. Not drag it all through the book. You've got to make me root for the main couple and in this book, I wasn't even sure who the main couple was for half the book.
Can you tell I'm really not happy I invested a good day on this book? So in the end, I liked the setting and the characters as individuals, but I was not at all pleased with how the story came together. I'll give the author another chance because I'm assuming she doesn't always write stupid love triangle books. But dang, this one made me mad.

I've been waiting for FRATERNIZE since I first heard about it months ago...I love, love, love sports romances and Rachel Van Dyken is one of my favourite authors so I knew that I had to read this book...and sure enough, I LOVED IT!
There are so many things about Rachel's romances that I love. Her writing has a certain flow that quickly pulls me into the story, and I always think that her characters are fantastic! They're dynamic and jump right off the page, and FRATERNIZE was no exception!
The one part of FRATERNIZE that had me unsure was the love triangle that the description and cover tease about. I'm not a big fan of love triangles, so I was a bit worried, but I trusted that Rachel Van Dyken wouldn't get my feelings too mixed up, and she didn't steer me wrong! I'm so glad I didn't let the fear of a love triangle keep me from reading FRATERNIZE because I've never experienced a love triangle like this before. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'm going to be a bit vague, but right from the start it's pretty clear that the romance is never really going to unfold as a triangle. There are feelings going all around, shared histories, budding relationships, and all that, but not once is there ever any kind of cheating nor is Emerson ever dating both of them at the same time, and I really, really loved that fact!
FRATERNIZE features multiple POVs. It's mostly told from Emerson and Miller's POVs, but there are a couple of chapters for Grant (or Sanchez as he's referred to in a large chunk of the book), which was really interesting! I loved seeing the thoughts of all three characters, and I really loved seeing the dynamics between them! FRATERNIZE also features flashbacks from when Emerson and Miller went to school together, which worked well to show the reader their history! I loved all three main characters, but I have to admit it, Grant is definitely my favourite! ;)
Emerson is sarcastic, a bit vulnerable (she's been through some tough times), but most of all, she's strong. She fights to accomplish her dreams, and she's fiercely independent. I really admired that she did her best to stay true to herself, and when she was self-conscious and insecure, she listened and accepted the pep talks from her friends that she needed. Miller was a bit broodier than I expected--especially since he's pretty laid back and silly in flashbacks, but I loved seeing him open up to his teammates! And Grant...wowzers! When Grant showed up, I was immediately smitten. He started off as a bit of a bad boy, but this bad boy has a heart of gold! He was also super duper swoony and said some of the most wonderful lines...seriously, he had me blushing and smiling like crazy while I was reading on the subway. He was definitely sexy, but I absolutely loved his personality. He's thoughtful, a bit of a joker, and has lots of heart and integrity. I also really loved Kinsey (the head cheerleader on Emerson's team), and Jax (the Bellevue Bucks starting quarterback)...I can't wait to see more of Kinsey in the sequel, INFRACTION!
Since I've gushed about how Grant had me swooning, I'm sure it's not surprising that the romance was my favourite part, but the friendships in FRATERNIZE were also wonderful! And I also really enjoyed the story itself. It was pretty dramatic and a bit heavy at times, but I thought it worked really well for the characters, and anytime I had to put the book down, I really didn't want to! I also always love how Rachel sneaks popular culture into her books, and FRATERNIZE had some great ones!
Overall, I loved FRATERNIZE! I loved the story, the romance, the friendships...every single thing! Rachel Van Dyken has done it again—she's wowed me! This was such a wonderful book and it was everything that I could hope for it to be and more!!! If you're a fan of her books already, or if you love sports romances like I do, then I think you'll love this one, too! Now we just have to wait until January for the next book, INFRACTION! ;)

Now we just have to wait until January for the next book, INFRACTION! ;)

'What was happening?
What was I doing?
This wasn’t how the story was supposed to go.'
I remember several months ago when Rachel Van Dyken was sharing some early chapters in her Facebook reader group as sort of a group beta read, I read those chapters and was instantly hooked. I couldn’t wait to read the complete story and the time has finally come and the book was sure worth the wait! I’ve read, and loved, a lot of RVD’s books and I have to say that this one has easily become one of my favorites from her. I loved the storyline, I loved the characters and I loved how it kept you guessing and so torn as to which direction you hope things turn out! There is a bit of a love triangle here, but it’s actually one of the friendliest love triangles I’ve ever seen and, in a way, I think that made it even harder to choose a side! If you’re afraid of love triangles, don’t be scared of this one, truly, it’s not what you think and there’s surprisingly low angst given the nature of the situation. Keep an open mind and trust in RVD, she won’t steer you wrong, promise!
'Six years ago, I’d kissed a football player and lost my heart.
Five seconds ago, it felt like, maybe, I had been given a part of that heart back, and it felt good, really good.'
Emerson Rodford has the dedication and the talent but she’s always found it hard getting people to see past her physique, which isn’t exactly your standard cheerleader figure. After years of trying, she’s finally achieved her goal of becoming an NFL cheerleader, landing a spot on her hometown team. But sticking to the diet and getting through the mandatory weigh-ins might be the least of her problems when she suddenly finds herself stuck between the hot-shot, persistent Grant Sanchez and her former best friend/first love, Miller Quinton, who is suddenly back in her life after a painful split six years earlier. Despite the strict no fraternization rule, she’s drawn to both men and is having a hard time deciding which man she’d be willing to give her heart to.
“The day,” he finally said, “when you can’t take it anymore.”
“Take what?”
“This.” He slid his hand down my thigh. “The heat between us, the way it feels when we touch. Damn, just being near you drives me insane. And humans are only gifted with so much patience before they snap. I hope to God that I’m around when you do.”
Rachel Van Dyken always writes some of the best characters out there and this crew is no exception! I loved the diversity in this book. A cheerleader with a figure of a normal woman?! Someone who wasn’t a size zero but was still healthy and strong? Yes, please! And our two leading men were also diverse, not just your typical hot white guy. It was a nice change of pace and made things feel even more realistic. Emerson was great, she was strong and confident and I loved that she followed her dream, despite the obvious adversity she faced. Then there was Miller, he started off angry and bitter over what he thought happened when he moved away, but it was good seeing him come back to himself, the version of him that we got glimpses of in the flashbacks. Then there was Grant, I was expecting a player and a jerk but he was such a great guy and he was so funny! Then, as if it wasn’t hard enough, you’ve got this great friendship forming between Grant and Miller! It really is a hard choice! I wanted Emerson with Miller because of their history and the still obvious pull between them, but then there was Grant and he was just so awesome and persistent, I thought that maybe she should choose him and then I’d flip back again! Which guy will win Emerson’s heart? Well, you’re going to have to read to find out! My lips are sealed. I will say, though, I did enjoy how everything played out and I felt very satisfied with how things ended up and I am very much looking forward to what’s next in this new series!
“I’m going to make you mine.”
“I think . . .” She grabbed my sweatpants and tugged. “That I’ve always been yours. I just didn’t realize it.”

Wow! Ever since I started reading Rachel Van Dyken's books, it's only this time I had the hardest time writing a review. Fraternize is a book that gave me conflicting emotions yet took me to an enjoyable ride of friendship, fun, laughter and love.
Love triangle tropes are my kind of books no matter how torturous it is. Add up some good sports romance and I'll be in heaven for real. I just love the feeling of reading something that will not just captivate me but will make me feel the heroines struggle of choosing someone especially when both men happened to have a special place in her heart. However though, reading Fraternize took me to a journey so different from what I am accustomed to. There were no angst filled moments that made me stopped reading because it felt too much. Oh, there was in fact angst-ish moments but those had a different effect on me that in the end left me enjoying it instead. No tears shed because someone was left alone. And to top it all, there was no choosing on my side who I wanted to end up who. I'm a glutton for punishment, but to choose over someone from this book?Man, I will be left in tears for days. But alas! I was not, this is RVD after all and this woman could knock it off with her love triangle that made me a happy woman than a slobbering mess.
Oooohhh.. why you ask? Well let me start by saying RVD had me with just the premise of this book that I kept flipping the pages like a mad woman hungry for flesh. In anticipation for some heart wrenching scenes, I prepared myself because it's love triangle duh.. but no!!! It wasn't necessary. Instead I was sucked right into the journey of these three characters and enjoyed every moment with them. The character portrayals was on point. Emerson, Miller and Sanchez are one's you wanted to be friends with. I love their realness and I love how they made me laugh so hard there were tears in my eyes. But above all, I love the fact the love triangle brewing in their circle boils down to loving Emerson and wasn't added with too much of testosterone games between the two men. It wasn't an easy feat, I could feel the emotions these three had but RVD made it in a way I could just read freely without getting my emotions at stake but will leave me satisfied nonetheless. It didn't even matter to me who she'll gonna end up with because in the end, both men loved her deeply. That to say, I enjoyed it. I love how everything turned out and I love that the HEA did not cost too much between the three of them. There's drama for sure, and in as much as I wanna say it wasn't necessary I still appreciate how it was included in the story.
Overall, I love this book. Fraternize is a light hearted read but the journey I had with the characters was an enjoyable one. Each had their own uniqueness and I love them for that. When I say I couldn't choose one, I really couldn't. And that's for you to find out why. Their story, their journey, it was soo good that I don't want it to end. The friendship and love as well as the slow burn romance was perfectly written. I love how I was teased with the steamy scenes because as the story progresses, Rachel did not hold back. My reader was on fire! Above all, I love how RVD made me laugh and fell in love with her characters.
Great job Rachel! Keep rockin'.

Full disclosure… I’m a huge fan of this author. However, I will always be honest in my reviews. But there’s a reason I read almost all of her books! I’m not a huge fan of sports fiction and I really could care less about the NFL so I was a bit wary to read this. Once again, I should have known better. It was so much more than just football, cheerleading, and hunky guys.
Fraternize is the story of a curvy girl who finally gets her dream come true… to be an NFL cheerleader. Emerson is a girl who is no stranger to hard work and willing to put in all the work required to be good at this. She’s come to love and appreciate the body she has, yet still struggles with insecurity at times.
Then there’s Miller. Her ex-BFF who became more… just before his dad moved him across the country in the middle of their senior year in high school. He’s the handsome, sexy football player who gets traded to the Bucks… Just as Emerson makes the cheer squad for… the Bucks.
And last, but most certainly not least, is Sanchez. He’s the sexy, flirty tight end for the Bucks.
Both men have a thing for Emerson. And she has a thing for them both… but in different ways. She has a big history with Miller. But there were secrets and other people and things that caused them to lose touch. Misconceptions that bred resentment. Sanchez just thinks she’s a super cool gal. Which she is.
WARNING!!!!!!! Just a small spoiler in this next paragraph!
So… in the beginning, I really, really, really wanted Emerson and Miller to work it out and Sanchez to be their BFF. But then I got to the point where Sanchez says that he’d never have left her in the first place, and I realized… this guy really cares about HER. He’s 100% on her side. And at the same time, he’s not a jerk about it to Miller. Amazingly, he’s Miller’s BFF, too! So then I realize… Sanchez truly is the better man. Quite frankly, he’s the bomb! He’s pretty much the voice of reason as far as Emerson and Miller’s relationship. Honestly… I’d love a Sanchez in my life! He has a way of being honest and really telling you like it is in a way that’s not hurtful, or degrading, or disrespectful. He goes out of his way to figure out who Emerson is when Miller just assumes she’s the same girl he left behind years ago.
This book had a depth to the story that I really wasn’t expecting it to have. I knew the author would touch on the body shaming issues people face. But there was so much more to it. The characters were also much deeper than I expected. Let’s face it… we don’t really expect sports stars to be so deep. (And yes, I realize that is a sweeping generalization and not always true. But so many are just conceited jerks that it kind of makes us not so aware of the good ones.) There were so many other great characters, too. (But they get their time in the next book so I’m not mentioning them in this review.) So this story was truly a very pleasant surprise. I have to give it 5 stars! It owned me from the beginning. And I’m (not so) anxiously awaiting book 2!! So even if you aren’t big on sports romance books (like me), I think it’s still one that you will be happy you spent a few hours of your time reading. Give it a shot… I think you’ll thank me later!
Congrats on another winner, Rachel!

Fraternize is the first book in the Players Game by the ever-talented Rachel Van Dyken! I went into this book totally blind which is something I quite enjoy. I read the synopsis before I started writing this and it rocks so I am going to try my best to make this short and sweet.
Two broken hearts. One dream. Six years in between. Emerson made the cut. She was now a Buck's cheerleader. Miller was a Buck's player. It was their dream to do this together. Then one call unanswered changed everything. Two best friends turned lovers were now nothing. Nothing but sweet memories and heartache. Until, their dream did come true. Too bad they couldn't stand being in the same stadium together. Especially when another player enters the game.
Miller hated him. Grant Sanchez was a c- a- on the field and off. He didn't want him even looking at Emerson but what could he do, she wasn't his. And if he wanted a championship, he was going to have to ignore it. Ignore the passion he still felt for Em. He had to forget about Em. But he still wanted her. But, did she still want him? I mean, could they even be friends again after what happened all those years ago.
Emerson didn't know who she wanted but she knew she didn't want to let her dream go. And there was no fraternizing with the players. She didn't think she would have an issue since she didn't date. Now there was Miller, her ex-best friend that she still had butterflies for but wanted to hate. And Grant Sanchez, the hottest player in the league that wanted to be her friend. She didn't know what that was all about. It wasn't like she was his type and she was most definitely not a one-night stand kinda gal. What was his deal?
Two players. Three hearts. Who was going to be the second string player in her game? And will he even want to be in the game after he she decides the starting line-up?
I loved this story! Emerson is different. She isn't a size 2 cheerleader. She isn't even a size 10 one but she works hard and knows her talent and worth. Miller is flirty, hot, and funny. Grant is blunt, sexy, and unexpected. Both men are equally supportive. I went back and forth with these men. I was cheering for both sides until one moment. I can't say anything else! And I suggest if you don't want to know who she chooses in the end, do not read the synopsis for the next book!
Overall...it's an addicting story about love, friendship, and football. And it was awesome that it was about football players and the book actually talked about football! And cheerleading. I am not a huge fan of either but it doesn't mean I don't appreciate them. Throughout the book I laughed my ass off, cried, and felt the love.
Quotes:
“Imagine that. A blonde cheerleader who knows how to download an app. Color me impressed.”
“If I’m not at practice in five minutes, I’m going to have to run.”
“Hell no.” He slammed his foot on the accelerator, making it feel like my body was still five miles behind us as we careened toward the stadium. “I’m not letting them take away that ass.”
“Shhh, I’m having a moment with your breasts.”

Warning! This story was not what I expected. Let me correct that: It was not what I wanted it to be! However, wouldn’t you know I loved every moment I was glued turning page after page wanting and waiting. I was waiting for the shoe to drop! I was waiting for “I knew he was too good to be true” moment to feed my choice in this sexy and sweet love triangle.
When your heart is on the line, do you play for the first down or go for the touchdown? Fraternize is an emotional tear jerk I didn’t expect. The angst will have you laughing and crying. It’s a mashup of second chances, first chances, interracial dating, body issues, romance, sex and football.
Emerson is plus size trying to achieve her dream as a professional cheerleader for her local NFL team, the Bellevue Bucks. She finally gets the opportunity only to be scrutinized by her new teammates. Plus, she catches the eye of the team’s captain Grant Sanchez – which is a major no no in the rule book.
Hotshot cocky Grant is about to have his world turned upside down by the feisty cheerleader. He makes no qualms he wants to have sex with her and her curves. In fact, Curves becomes his pet name for her throughout the story.
When her teenage crush and best friend Miller Quinton is traded to his home team, she comes face to face with her past. Emerson has spent the last few years trying to forget Miller and his broken promises. She does not want to remember his model good looks, ripped muscles and killer smile.
One look at Em and Miller’s heart goes into a blitz and he knows he won’t rest until he can win back her friendship and maybe more. He thinks Em broker his heart but the truth is even more complicated. Too bad his teammate Sanchez has called dibs with no intent of giving her up.
Grab a copy today and find out why I am vastly becoming addicted to RVD’s writing. It’s romantic, heartwarming and steamy. It will leave you cheering for second chances and rooting for friendships, both old and new.

Emerson Rodner has been working towards achieving her goal of becoming a professional NFL cheerleader and is finally getting her chance. She is not a typical tiny cheerleader in that she is tall, plus-sized and curvy, though she is strong, motivated, and sassy. Like most NFL teams there is a strict fraternization rule with the players, but she is not really worried about that initially.
But she catches the eye of the Grant Sanchez, the team captain and rumored to be a ladies' man. He is flirty, sexy, sweet, cocky, and very persistent. And he might have been motivated at least in the beginning by something else as well. And then comes Miller Quinton, the new tight end...who also happens to be her childhood to teen best friend, first love and lover that broke her heart. Two men. Attraction. Attention. Against the rules.
Sanchez really goes after her and is determined to worm his way in. He is observant, attentive, patient, and caring even though he can be quite unfiltered, over-the-top, and funny. Miller is still angry and hurt and dealing with his own issues from their past. He gets a slower start and watches from the sidelines, but eventually he starts moving back at least towards the friendzone knowing he is going to want more. There is competition, jealousy, and friendship interfering. But both men are gearing up to catch the girl.
Emerson's life is not easy now and it wasn't in the past. She still has some things to work through...including talking some things through with Miller. Both she and Miller will have to confront their past and resolve those feelings before there is any hope of moving on.
Who is the man Emerson truly loves and needs to be with? The one who was her first and best friend or the one that is really pushing for a chance at her present and future? Both are worthy. Both have a chance. But she needs to choose one and follow her heart. And even then there still might be things that could surprise or hurt her.
This is a fun, sexy, sweet, and emotional slow burn, love-triangle, and friends-to-lovers story. I honestly was not sure who I was supposed to be rooting for and at times was not sure who I even wanted to win. It is told in all three of their points of view but the majority seems to be in Emerson and Miller's (and they had some flashbacks too). I liked both Sanchez and Miller. I loved that Emerson was curvy, real, confident, and that both of the men saw her as sexy and beautiful inside and out. I also enjoyed the side characters of Jax and Kinsey and the camaraderie of the team and friend group, while there were some antagonists that I certainly did not. The author did a good job having just enough football and cheerleading in the story to make it realistic. I am looking forward to the next book, Infraction that was teased at the end.

3.5 no fraternizing stars!
For a plus-size, Emerson yearned to achieve her dreams of becoming an NFL cheerleader, even more so after she had a fallout with her best friend in high school whom she lost her virginity to. Heartbroken and alone, she had never been more goal-driven in her life, especially with the things happening at home. What she did not expect was to be caught up in Grant Sanchez's world. He was funny, incredibly flirty and determined to make her his - not to mention he was the best receiver in the NFL. Just when things are looking up, her best friend returns, and so are the old feelings that never really went away.
Let me start off my review by saying that I requested this book because it's a Rachel Van Dyken's book (love her so much!) and I was hoping that she could change my mind about love triangles (it has been my reading pet peeve ever since I outgrew my Twi-hard years). I have avoided any novels with love triangles in them like the plague but decided to give it another try.
Unfortunately, while I adore the characters and the beautiful writing, I still couldn't get past the whole idea of having two guys fighting over you. It's not you Rachel, I swear. And Fraternize left me with a mixed feeling in my gut.
On one hand, I devoured the book in a sitting. The moment it landed on my Kindle and it was 12 a.m, I forego any thoughts of sleeping because Rachel's writing does that to you. The same happened to me when I was reading Steal and I knew I couldn't sleep without knowing the ending! Emerson's story pulled me in from the start and I fell in love with the characters almost instantly. The humor was genuinely funny and I laughed out loud on a few occasions, besides, I honestly couldn't think of anyone who has the comeback skills to level Sanchez.
On the contrary, love triangles aside, the only other problem I had with the book was the characters' ages. I had a hard time adjusting to the fact that the characters are in their mid to late twenties as they sometimes behaved like college students and not, well, adults. But maybe that's just me. It was after 12 a.m. after all :p
I love the writing but the story just wasn't my cup of tea. I'd definitely want to read the rest of the series though because 1) It's Rachel Van Dyken! and 2) that epilogue is a freaking cliffhanger!
For fans of angsty romance with love triangles, I highly recommend you to check this one out!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by Social Butterfly PR and the author. Thank you for the reviewing opportunity!

I’m just giddy with all kinds of wonderfulness after reading this awesome book! I normally shy away from love triangles because, hello, love triangle. I like to have a clear definition of who my characters are going to end up with and it’s just all kinds of angsty when I don’t know. I NEVER go to the end of the book to see how it ends. However, it didn’t take me long to start texting my friend about the deep desperate drive I was fighting to do just that. She’s already read it and I needed to know it was okay to go ahead and have a peek. She refused to give me permission! (She used to be such a great friend.)
I somehow managed to not skip ahead and oh man, I was so glad I didn’t cheat. I absolutely loved the way this story formed and took shape. I found myself so entrenched in these characters I honestly didn’t know who I wanted Emerson to end up with. Both Miller and Grant were perfectly imperfect in their own unique ways. That’s when I started to really sweat though. Because if I loved them both, that meant one of them was going to lose the girl. Someone was going to get hurt and I didn’t want that to happen. See, love triangle dang it!
Much to my amazement, this author managed to work these characters into a position that Emerson’s decision was the only one that made any sense at all. And the man that didn’t get the woman? He ended up in a place where he was okay with it and I believed it. That my friends is pure talent.
Overall, this was an exceptional read filled with lots of great banter, humor that didn’t quite cross over into immaturity, a fabulous cast of characters of which I can’t wait to read more about, and some of the deepest feels I’ve experienced in quite some time. There is nothing like reading a book and laughing out loud only to find yourself choking back tears a few pages later. That is what this story did to me. I loved every minute of it.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my honest review
*Multi POV
*Safe – Let me just say that Emerson does not play these two against each other. Nor is she physical with them one after the other. I felt this book was completely safe.

Fraternize was a hilarious, charming, sexy, and fun contemporary romance. The author's writing felt so genuine and real that it was really easy for me to get sucked into the world she created. I genuinely laughed out loud numerous times and I swooned too many times to count while reading Fraternize.
There were so many lovable and memorable characters in this book. I loved how the author created so many unique characters. There were side characters that were prominent throughout the entire story and they never felt like they were tossed to the side. One of my favorite things about all the characters was how hilarious they all were! Each character had their own unique humor, which really shined in this book.
Going into this book, I knew there was going to be a love triangle. I was a little hesitant about the love triangle, however, the romance in this book surprised me. I don't want to spoil anything in regards to the romance, but I was EXTREMELY satisfied with out the romance ended up. I really wanted the romance to end up that way, so I was glad that is how the romance played out. My only issue with this romance was that I wish Emerson and one of the love interests would have had better communication. I felt like there was some unnecessary drama brought up due to Emerson and other characters lack of communication. That being said, I really enjoyed the romance as a whole throughout this story.
This book had some really romantic moments that made me want to cry! The male character that Emerson ended up with was so swoon-worthy and he did so many sweet things!!! Also, THIS BOOK WAS SO STEAMY. HOLY COW!!!!! HAVE A TALL GLASS OF ICE WATER AROUND TO COOL YOU OFF!
There were some elements of this book that felt a bit silly and too dramatic. I feel like some of those elements could have been toned down a tiny bit. One element of this book that I was not expecting was how emotional it got. There were some really hard topics that were addressed in this book, which made me tear up. I actually would have liked to see a little more development of that emotional storyline in the book, but I still enjoyed the amount of it that was presented in the book.
Overall, this was a really fun and addictive book. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

Fraternize is the first book in the Players Game series and it's a great start. This story is mostly told through Emerson and Miller Quinton's points of view but there are a few told through Grant Sanchez's point of view. Emerson and Miller were best friends from when they were 7 years old until they were 17 years old. There was always more there to but they didn't get a chance to really deal with it. Soon after Miller's mother dies his father moves them across the country and he feels he not only lost his mother but now Emerson too.
Now it's seven years later and Emerson's dream finally came true and she's going to be a professional cheerleader for the Bellevue Buck football team. Miller's traded to the Bellevue Buck's, Miller and Emerson are now in the same place after all these years. Emerson never got over Miller and life through some really hard curve balls her way. She's been dealing with so much and she's felt so alone for so long. Her father made her promise that she wouldn't stop her dream of being a professional cheerleader. Miller hasn't had a great life either and he's been brokenhearted and he felt betrayed by Emerson.
I love all three characters - Emerson, Miller, and Sanchez. They are completely different in some ways but they all have great things about them.
Emerson is so strong and she's been through so much. She's been working so hard and just trying to keep it together. She's had to deal with so many people trying to beat her down because she's not a small woman. Most cheerleaders are very small but Emerson has always had curves. Even through all the hard times and the criticism, she's still a sweet person.
Miller's great too but he let his hurt seep through in the beginning. He was so hurt and he felt so betrayed that he tried to block out Emerson when he saw her again. He's a really great guy and he missed Emerson so much. He always had feelings for her. It bothers him to see how Emerson and Sanchez act together but he knows that her friendship is still important.
Sanchez comes off in the beginning as a player and just out for one thing. He pushes into Emerson's life and gave her a nickname right away. He makes it seem like all he cares about is sex but he starts off as a great friend. And he does things and goes out of his way for her. He really cares about Emerson and knows she's just a wonderful woman. She doesn't care about his money or his fame.
