This book really changed the way I approached life, and though I haven't read it for a long time (I need to revisit it again soon), some of the wisdom contained within is a regular part of my daily life today.

It's not everyday that you can read something that will alter your life in ways that are unimaginable, but this is one of those SPECIAL books that will alter, transform, shift, turn upside down and take your life on a journey that will leave you in a state of amazement!
It's one of my all time favorites!
Note: If possible, read it in the early mornings when your mind is calm and well rested.

For a personal book, although some what strange, it is a great read and makes you stop and think about life and what you are looking for in life. Slow down, take a breath, and relax with this book, you may be there reading all night.

The title of the book should be intro to metaphysics 101. I think I read this book over 20 years ago, but recently had a friend who was interested in eastern thought for the western mind. It's New Age 101, but as far as an intro to the subject, it's hard to go wrong.

The novel covers topics that I thought myself to be familiar with and yet after having finished the book, I feel like all of its teachings were so foreign. All I can say is to take this book with a grain of salt. While its teachings may be liberating to some, it can also be frightening for others.

I loved this book, a story of being uncomfortable, knowing that there's more to life than what we see on the surface. And finding a way to live a better and more fulfilling life.
I will return to this book again and again - I just know it.

Beautiful inspiring book my psychologist friend recommended it.
One thing I got from it 'focus on what you want not on what you are trying to let go of'
A must read for all those aware of their spiritual journey.

Great book... yes its poetic license and the stories are slightly exagerated to make them more mystical. But a struggling athlete meets a wise man who helps to make him grow up. Great story with alot of information that could help people out.

This book truly is an inspiration and opened my mind to what it is capable of both positive and negative. There were lessons I learned that will never be forgotten and though you dont change in a day, this book teaches you to do the best you can each day to be your best

I think everyone would benefit reading this book. I don't know if it changed my life, but it definitely made me more aware. I will read it again and encourage others to read it. I like to read books that gently point out my negative personality traits, makes me see myself in the example and then change me.

... a book that changes lives. The character of Socrates impacted my life in many overt and covert ways, all for the positive. I read the book over ten years ago and the residue of its impact still lingers. The characters are lifelike and genuine, and their dilemmas resonate with much of humanity. I strongly believe that anyone can benefit from reading this book.

An amazing book that teaches you to live life with "present attention" and "focus". I loved the description of the "mind" as an evolutionary disease. Mind purification and mastery is essential to achieve the maximum potential from each individual, which is limitless and unfathomable by most as we are always clouded in useless thoughts and fears.

This book is fantastic. It reads like a conversation with an old friend - the wise friend who sees that you need something but aren't sure what and tells you just the right thing.
It's a remarkable book and a beautiful and energizing read.
If you're at the top of your game or feeling like you need a helping hand, this book is a nice way to re-examine your life, the people in it and makes you want to live in the moment.

This book is so inspirational; no matter what you are going through in life, just apply this way of thinking to it and you will see the tremendous light at the end of that tunnel and a way to get there. LOVE THIS BOOK!

Good book with good insight. Simply written and accessible to everybody, sometimes it feels a bit too simplistic in which characters appear at times a bit flat. The book gives us the opportunity to reflect on the unnecessary wondering of our minds too often scattered across many things and too many emotions.

One of my most treasured reads, and as a professional librarian and reviewer, needless to say I've read much. This unusual book is a wonderful introduction to deeper philosophies like Zen, but it's written in a light, upbeat style that is very approachable. As a result of reading this book, my life really did change. I ended up as a "student" of Dan Millman's, of a sort, when he became my Editor and I published in a bestselling series under his direction. Choose this title only if you're ready for real change, personally, professionally, spiritually. Reread it every five years to mark your own path.

The content is Buddhism presented in an interesting way. The story line is disjointed and the magic a little overblown. The benefit is that it causes you to think about your own running consciousness and how to master it. In that sense, it reminded me of the early Carlos Castaneda books, particularly "Journey To Ixtlan." Worth the read.
