The Magician (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel Book 2)

I read the reviews and decided to give The Alchemyst a go. Considering that it was the set up for a six book set, it was decent. The Magician was ok too. Not a lot of character development. The twins changed back and forth between mildly interesting and annoying. Flamel, Dee, and Macheivalli are all basically the same character, written from different points of view in a constant contest to see who is the most clever. Joan of Arc is not interesting at all. Francis comes off as a rakish buffoon. I love the premise of the story, but the question is, do I love it enough to pay $45 to read the entire series. The answer to that is no. For some people it might be worth it, but it isn't for me.

I don't like the sappiness between Josh and Sophie. I get that they are siblings and close, but its too much drama and too much sapiness in their relationship. If i had that kind of relationship with my brother I would hate it.

Michael Scott keeps the series alive in his second book, "The Magician." You get a closer look at the character from the end of book one, Nicolo Machiavelli. The book(s) are captivating and I love the fact that the many of the characters are based on people who really existed. Great read!

The first book was great, the Magician is better. I can't wait for Book 3. I really like that most of the characters in the book can be found in Wikipedia. If you are upset like me that Harry Potter is has reached the end of his story, then these books will give you that magical fix. This is definitely one book that I will read again.
