Gripping Story of being torn between two cultures. Gives an insight of what being Amish or Hutterite is like and reminds us that even in our modern day world, there are those to cling to the old ways.

I enjoyed reading this book, but in some parts was a little disappointed with how the plot was written, I either could tell the direction the writer was going before it appeared intended for the reader to know or the actions was not believable

I was actually a little disappointed in this book. I thought the first half was very slow and almost quit reading, however the second half held my interest a little more. Definitely not one of my favorite books.

"The Outcast" is a beautifully written book that tells the story of a young Mennonite woman who has been betrayed by almost everyone she loves after having a child out of wedlock. The author paints a beautiful picture of loyalty, love, and forgiveness through the grace of God. There were several times that I found myself fighting back tears. I definitely recommend this book!

I definitely liked this book. I don't usually give a book 5 stars but I felt this book was worth it. I am from Lancaster county so that was interesting and I felt the characters were very believable. I've never read an Amish book but I felt I could cancel the book if it was not good. The author is a very good writer and I'll look for more books from her.

Just finished reading the book "The Outcast", and I was actually sad that I had finished it!! It was the best book that I have read on a long time!! I loved how the book kept you guessing all the way thru, and came together so eloquently in the end!! I also love how the story was told from two different sides, yet didn't give everything away when you switched to the other side!! I thought it was a great all around book! And I very highly recommend it!! :)

I love the stories about the Amish! But, this particular story makes them feel more human. Not so perfect.
I could not put it down. So much twist in it , each page was a new surprise.
Thank for such a beautiful story of love and forgiveness.

The Outcast claims to be a retelling of The Scarlet Letter but it is so much more. This story has an abundance of well developed characters and a wide spectrum of emotions that will tug at your heart. It only took a few pages before I forgot this was a retelling. I will read more from this author.

Outcast is an easy read, it gives you some insight to the culture she came from. The book is one that I believe the majority of women will like, sympathize, might be able to identify with her problems..

A great first novel! Jolina is a wonderful story teller. This is a powerful tale of life and all the complexities of the Mennenite life values. It was a story I was unable to stop reading...until I finished it. Loved this story and cannot wait for her next novel.

From the very beginning I was drawn into this story as if I was living it myself! It is so well written and amazingly beautiful! The characters are amazing and dynamic! You feel as of you have met them and know them! Even though it is a familiar story, you can't wait to find out what happens next! I highly recommend this book!

I started reading this book and was immediately hooked. I needed to know what would happen to the characters that felt so alive and unique. I couldn't stop reading, even though this was not my typical genre of choice. This is a nicely layered story, rich with feeling and meaning and purpose. It tells a story of redemption, growth in faith, family and love. Five stars!
