I was pleasantly surprised that a free story was so good. I found the characters believable and the story rather heartwarming. The sex scenes were extensive and full of emotion, which served to make them even hotter. Not only is this a great piece of erotica on its own, but other erotica authors who are looking to see how it's done would be well advised to read as much of Melissa Schroeder's work as they can get their hands on.

For someone who in interested in the sensual nature of Love, this is an excellent book. The characters are the standard poor little beautiful birl who has had broken relationship. And the rich fabulous looking guy who adores her in spite of everything.

Well first off, this was my first romance novel and boy oh boy did I like it!

The author did an amazing job wording the book. Right away you see the forbidden sexual tension between the two main characters and man, is it sexy!

The story is about two best friends that start off with a great friendship that turns into much, much more. Max is a successful businessman who is a true gentleman, but like to dominate when it comes to sex. Anna also runs a successful business and is a carefree spirit that doesn't care what anyone else thinks.

What starts out as a hot affair between friends, turns into a sexy romance. They both value their friendship but can't resist the thought of each other naked and all the dirty things they secretly want to do. It drives them both crazy knowing that they are falling for each other when in their minds it is so wrong. They both fight the feeling hard, but in the end, love conquers all. :)

I listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Juliana Solo. I received a copy from AuthorsDirect.

This is the first audio book I’ve reviewed. I have listened to several so my rating is based on a comparison from other books I’ve listened to before and the story itself.

I liked the narrator’s voice and she did a fairly good job of changing her voice to make it sound different for each character.

The story was good, but there was a lot of internal narrative and not enough talking to each other in the story.

There is a lot of self doubt with both Anna and Max; Anna can’t believe she can hold on to Max and Max is afraid she will dump him because that’s what she does with her boyfriends. Max and Anna are supposed to be older than what the maturity level of the drama that takes place. They sound more like high school kids than late twenties and early thirties.

I liked Chris, Max’s best friend. And I also liked the bar scene. That made me laugh. I look forward to reading or listening to the next book.

Max and Anna have been friends for almost all their lives. The two are opposites but no one could be better friends than these two. Each one has lusted for the other but never truly acted on their feelings for one reason or other but when the two end up single at the same time a night of drinking leads to something and now Max is determined to prove to Anna that they are and can be more than just friends.

I enjoyed Max and Anna’s story. It was nice to see them go from friends to lovers. The two work well together even though they have different views on life. Love and trust are hard to come by and these two are lucky enough to find them, but they must work hard to keep them. The author does a wonderful job of giving the characters depth and emotions throughout their story. Narrator Juliana Solo does a nice job of giving this story life. She speaks clearly and at a good pace and I was quickly immersed in this tale.

Max Chandler was always doing the right thing. He did what people expected of him in life, business... But his world is thrown upside down when doing the right thing left him alone. His fiance broke up with him and naturally he wanted answers. So Max turns to his best friend, Anna Dewinter.
Anna ran a business and found herself dating to occupy her free time. She didn't know exactly what she was looking for, but most of the men she knew, were not it! And having a male best friend didn't help. Max was one person who would call her out on her choices.

So when Max tells Anna about his broken engagement, she is ready to help him "drink the sorrow away." One night of food & drinks, leads to something that they can't return from... And they don't know if they want to. Bringing these two together set people in motion to try and make Max see that the pairing is not going to last.

Anna & Max face a lot of negativity from the town & each other. They don't know what to do with the new feelings that they are showing. And it definitely leaves them causing their own chaos.

I read this story with no idea what to expect from the author... She was new to me. I am so happy that I found this story. It left me wanting more from the characters and those they were close to.
ALH Sex was a sexy Friends-to-Lovers story that takes the characters on a journey of finding themselves and building a unbreakable bond!

The first in a fantastic series by Melissa Schroeder I’ve enjoyed this story many times but just listened to it on audio and was thrilled. Max is a young businessman forced into taking over the family business way too early after his workaholic fathers heart attack. He is trying to do everything right which is how he ends up engaged to Cynthia a local deb who is just so wrong for him. When Cynthia dumps him he finds himself in the arms of his best friend and total opposite Anna. How can a love so right be so wrong? This is a smoking hot friends to lovers that makes even the sultry summer air cool in comparison. I really enjoyed the audio as the narrator didn’t try to fake a southern accent.

Max Chandler and Anna Dewinter have always been the best of friends. While each have been secretly attracted to the other, they've never acted on that attraction - why mess with a great friendship and besides they've never both been free at the same time. When Max's fiancée breaks up with him and Anna breaks up with her boyfriend, they find themselves both free. Anna suggests a party at her place to celebrate and after way too much tequila, they act on their attraction.

Max is the CEO of his family business. He really didn't love his former fiancée - she was the daughter of one of his business partners and he thought she'd make a good business executive wife. But one night with Anna makes him realize who he really wants and that someone is Anna. Max knows that all of Anna's relationships don't last long - she always breaks up with her boyfriends after a month, but he's determined to be different.

Anna is a very independent woman, not caring what other people think. She's crazy about Max, but her past has made her leery of relationships. She's determined to treat Max like all of her previous boyfriends. Can Max stop her?

I really enjoyed this book. It's steamy, but the sex, the dialog, the relationship all ring true. I'm not sure how this book was before the author expanded it so if you read an earlier version, I'm not sure how different this version is. I do know that this was a fun read. I liked Max and Anna and enjoyed reading their story. Although it's a quick read (just under 200 pages), it's well worth spending an afternoon reading this book.

This book is the start of the Harmless series (the next book being about Max's ex-fiancée and best friend) and if this is a hint of what's to come, a series that I'm looking forward to!

A Little Harmless Sex is a pretty quick, sexy erotic romance read. It is a contemporary story about friends who become more-than-friends. It is a story (ok, an erotic story) that is easy to relate to and fun to read.

Max is a businessman, he is hard working and his job is his top priority. Most of his romantic relationships are easy and tame, with women suited to being an executive's wife. Anna is an independent, small business owner herself. Anna has many flings, but never keeps guys around. She is the love-em-and-leave-em type of girl and prefers her relationships skin-deep. When both Anna and Max are both single at the same time, they fall into bed with each other, with the help of tequila. Max realizes that he wants Anna in his life for keeps, but he just has to convince her to stay.

I enjoyed reading A Little Harmless Sex, it is a good read. There is a story line along with the sex, and the book is highly enjoyable. With that said, for an erotica book, I guess I expected the sex to be a little bit hotter. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of sex in the book, and it was nice, but it wasn't exactly super-hot, super sensual erotica. The bottom line, I enjoyed the book and the writing, I will read more by Melissa Schroeder in the future.

Max and Anna have been friends their whole lives and each have been harboring a crush on the other since a harmless little kiss while Anna was still in high school. However, their whole relationship changes after they have a little too much to drink while commiserating over their recent break ups. And what looks to be A Harmless Little Sex ends up tossing everything Max and Anna thought, out the window.

I love a well written friends to lovers story. And that's what we get here. Max and Anna grew up together as their parents are friends. Max is a successful business man, but perhaps a little too staid. He's coming off a loveless engagement and is just wanting to spend some time with his best friend. And Anna, a business owner in her own right, is a free spirit who hasn't had a relationship last much longer than a month -- with the exception of her friendship with Max. So, when alcohol flows freely and walls come tumbling down... well, their relationship will never be the same.

Get out the fan and be ready to use it during some very spicy love scenes. Max and Anna burn up the pages as they overcome insecurities to find their Happily Ever After. I'm totally looking forward to continuing to read Melissa's Harmless series.

And for a fun short story allowing us to catch up with Max and Anna, check out A Harmless Little Fling, a free short story from Melissa.

This book was short but well written. I really enjoyed how uptight and controlled Max became loose and a bit wild. With a man who was on track to have a heart attack at an early age I was so happy when Anna was able to seduce him and get him to see how a little fun never hurt anyone. I enjoyed seeing how two different and long friend individuals finally got together.

Never letting a man break her heart again, Anna always called the shots in a relationship. With only one man enriched in her life, Anna knew Max was safe. After all, he was getting married and nothing could mess up him and Anna's friendship. At least, that's what she thinks until her feelings for this handsome man turn a little more passionate.

Max knows breaking off his engagement is the right thing to do. Especially when he finds out his best friend, Anna, is now single too. His feelings for her have crossed the line, but he knows he'll have to play things carefully or otherwise Anna will run away from him.

A Little Harmless Sex takes us on a wonderful ride as friends develop into lovers. For Max, he wants all Anna can offer. Both characters are complex and lively. They bring excitement and pleasure to a story that already has an interesting plot. Ms. Schroeder's words flow with ease and will quickly pull you into this story.

This was one of the first books of Melissa Schroeder's that I picked up and I was hooked. The characters are well developed and the story draws you in and doesn't let you go. The first book of one of my all time favorite series. I highly recommend this book and series.

This is my first "steamy" romance book and I thought it was pretty good. There were portions that could use a little help and at times it did feel a little jumpy but overall I thought it was well written. I will probably continue to read the series.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. The characters were pretty normal with flaws and strengths. There were a few loose ends, but they didn't kill the story for me. I liked the tension between the characters. There was a fair amount of push me, pull you, but at least it wasn't one running one chasing.
Overall a great read.

Two couples breaking up isn't necessarily the best beginning for a romance novel, but it works for this one. The two lead characters have known (and lusted for) each other for years. They meet to discuss their breakups, and tequila makes their clothes fall off. (It happens, right?)

Overall well written, but the ex drama on both sides leading to makeup sex was stretching it a bit. The HEA seemed very rushed, and over 10% of the book being previews instead of story was disappointing.

Steamy sex scenes; I appreciate the references to liking her curves since she's not skin & bones.

I bought this book last year, also just received the audio as a gift. I loved the story when I read it, but it surprised me that it was almost like experiencing a new book to listen to it! Which ever you choose, the story is well written and the characters engaging. A true friends to lovers romance.
