Living with a child going through what myself and his mom could not understand, this book helped us realize that what we were going through was indeed normal.
It was a huge relief to feel we were not unique in our situation (for once).

Highly recommend for anyone w/a pre or new teenager. Really puts things into perspective & helps parents understand. I also do not take things so personal and I realize that this too shall pass! Very helpful.

Sometimes I felt they where talking about my daughter, other times it seams a bit extreme, but overall it was good as the author doen't tell you that to say or do in specific situations, but just "translate" what your teen means to say with what comes out of her/his mouth.

If you only read one book about raising teenagers (and if you're like me you'll try to read everything that's recommended by family and friends), put this book at the top of the pile. It gave me insight into what my twins (boy & girl) are going through at almost 12 and what to expect in the next 6 years or so. It also gave me a sense of calm in knowing that it's not just my kids that are driving me crazy, that I did the same things when I was their age, and that kids have been becoming teenagers for generations. I'm not alone. You will find tools to be better equipped to deal with the inevitable growing up of your kid(s)...and the patience to wait out the teenage years with confidence.

Almost every situation described in this book has happened in our home. Sure made me feel I'm not alone and gave me a good insight into the emotionally labile mind of the teenager. Well written, funny and to the point.

Great book! Real-life experience can't be beat. What a relief to know that we weren't the only parents to encounter the horrors that puberty can bring to a family. This book gives you the tools to manage the chaos until maturity sets in.

I really needed to hear that despite the torment and surliness I was experiencing at home, my child would eventually become the person she shows her teachers and schoolmates. the author states that on the first page and I immediately relaxed. There is alot of good info on what you can and can't change about your teenager, but knowing that most of the bad stuff will pass helped me immensely.

I enjoyed reading this book to try to understand today's teenagers (I am a grandmother). However, I totally disagree with the idea that being rude to your parents is acceptable. It is not acceptable under ANY circumstances. Good read otherwise.

Excellent !
A light hearted, but true to life book that is helping me to survive!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is questioning their parenting skills when they love their child but cant seem to understand their changed behavior.

This book will help all parents prepare for the understanding they will need as their teenager's years unfold. It will stop the battle lines being drawn by the teenager as the parents will have a great understanding of how to deflect the issues and give them (the Parents)some peace on the homefront.

The best book I have read on the subject.

Well written, humorous, easily digestible information...and very relevant to what we are experiencing! The author offers a great perspective on how to better parent a teen so the underlying bond stays in tact.
