It is the complete story of a great military career of a true warrior. As is usually the case if they had let the professionals run and fight the war we would not have left a bunch of kids dead and a war lost.

Hal Moore is one of the greatest warriors to ever serve in the US military. I enjoyed this book about his service, his book, We Were Once Soldiers and Young an from the book the movie We Were Soldiers.

Mike Guardia has done yeoman service to this book.

LTG (Ret) Moore is and was one He** of a soldier. His story is gripping and interesting even to a fellow Viet Nam vet. I never had the privilege of serving under this great soldier, but did meet Sergeant Major Plumley in the 1970s, he was personally impresive, all soldier.

I wish Mr. Guardia ahd served in the Army and RVN, it would have provided much needed context for the story.

But a good effort to cover more than 30 years of service on one book.

Great read. Every American should read this series of books. Every book I just become a bigger Hal Moore fan. I do enjoy the Hal and Joe written books a little more, as there is a lot more heart in those books but this is a very worthy book!

Sacrifice, Courage, Honor, the battle that tested the resolved of The United States Army as told by Hall Moore. These men and what they did should never be forgotten. Vietnam War was not favored by people in the USA. Hence many stories still waiting to be told of service in the country of Vietnam.

This was an excellent book that helped me look at this great man and leader away from We Were Soldiers. Information I garnered from this book was used in my classroom. Highly recommended to anyone in a leadership position. A must read for young leaders in the military.

General Moore exemplified the best of the US Army in Vietnam and of that era. Although I volunteered for the draft in 1966 and served five years, I am one of almost 3 million who served during that time but did not go to Vietnam. So I need to know what the combat soldier endured "in country." I am also an Army brat and was raised by an officer who fought across Europe in WWii and in Korea - - wounded twice and awarded two Bronze Stars for Valor. My dad would never speak of what happened to him but we, his family, endured his nightmares.

The story of the battle of the I'D Valley is chillingly retold in this biography and it is worth the read by all means. How can such sacrifice ever b repaid?

Very good book! LTC Moore was a Battalion commander in this book, but I knew him as Major General Moore, Commander of the 7th Infantry Division in Korea. He was a great Commander who really loved and took care of his troops.

A great look into the life and leadership style of a man who sets the standard. Mr. Guardia not only brought out LTG Moore's accomplishments but also helped show how the General lead his troopers in command in great detail
