This book has great illustrations and I love that there are 100 words in this small, concise book! However, the book is paper, thin paper at that and my daughter is going to rip it up pretty quickly. I ordered some other signing books and they are board books so they are spectacular! If this was a board book I'd give it 6 stars!!

The book has great art work showing hand signals. It is a great learning tool and has a comprehensive vocabulary. I was hoping to use it to teach my baby sign language but I would have to pick and choose appropriate words they are not grouped as baby's first words. It has a poster that is nice.

I wanted to get a book that encompassed many different basic signs to use in addition to my regular Signing TIme class material. This is a Great book! Would be perfect also for a gift for baby showers!

When I decided to start learning ASL, I realized I wanted to teach my eight-year-old sister and my friend's six children, all under the age of eight, because her third son already knows some due to his hearing impairment and I thought it'd make for better communication if the others learned too. So while looking for the best book for me, I stumbled across this one and it was simply brilliant for creating a foundation of basic signs. The animated images made it interesting and put it on their level to make for the best learning experience. I would suggest this book for anyone who wants to help introduce sign language to younger learners.

The book has very simple pictures and categories so as not to intimidate a new learner. I used it to teach adults and the price for the multiple copies I needed was reasonable. My only criticism is that some of the rarely used words (i.e. soccer) could have been omitted in favor of more common words.

Although not written by a Deaf person, this book is one of my favorite American Sign Language books for kids. The ASL signs are accurate, referred to as "Sign Language" rather than so-called 'baby sign language', easy to understand and appealing for young children. This is definitely a good book to have for children who are deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing.

This is a great primer for young children. I purchased seven of them. One for each of our kids, so that they could begin to learn sign. We are adopting a deaf child.

They took to this book very quickly, and it is a great support for the classes we are taking.
Note that it is very short. Just a starter book.

My husband and I are currently teaching our baby, "Baby Sign Language". These signs are ASL and help us learn sign as well.

As an elementary teacher, I use sign language in the classroom all the time. This is also a fantastic resource for kids, similar to a "Sign Dictionary" that they feel confident in flipping through. Each page is full of tiny images to look through as kids learn the various signs for a wide variety of vocabulary. It is a bit "Where's Waldo" reminiscent as students flip through page after page looking at the people acting out different signs, the kids try to practice these signs with their hands and body. I would recommend this as a learning tool for any parent or teacher.
