Really really good read if our Soldier's could treat the scum like they should be around the World without the blasted politicians and the Liberal Press getting in the way it would be a MUCH better World to live in for All of Us

I was very disappointed. The book needs better editing, better plot ,and better dialog.
Too much talking about sex and too much joking and stupid dialog. Not my favorite and not recommend .very disappointed

Too many attempts at humor in the story. I finally stopped reading it as the humorous attempts were distracting.
The author starts with a strong beginning but the main character is hard to imagine as being funny ALL the time.

At times vacuous and always depending on stifled laughter, open laughing, etc. This is useful to make or amplify a situation but to use it over and over and over trivializes the writing. DeLeo usually writes better than this.

Poorly written, formulaic and predictable story. The dialog is stilted and unrealistic. There is very little complexity to any characters or themes. I frankly wonder why this was written and published.

This book lacks focus and direction. It makes feeble attempts at humor, the characters are uninteresting and the storyline is boring. I could not be bothered to finish reading this book. Very disappointing.

This novel started off with tons of suspense and action and just didn't stop.
From the very beginning I was able to connect with the main characters and the connection only grew stronger the further I got into the story line. Jeremiah McDaniels is a true force to be reckoned with and so is his leading lady. Diane Roskova.
The friends and colleagues become one heck of a family unit that not only lays down some of the funniest humor I've read but each and everyone of them would die for the other.
There were times where I laughed so hard I had to stop reading and others where the emotional rollercoaster was so hard to read I had to have tissues on hand.
Very enjoyable novel indeed.

The book is far fetched, unnecessarily violent, and contains a thinly veiled right wing bias. In short, all the things I look for in an assassin novel.

There were two aspects of this book that detracted from the reader's ability to enjoy it. First, while I think most readers of such books appreciate witty repartee between characters, particularly as one eviscerates a bad guy, this book went overboard. The back and forth, while quite humorous at first, got to the point where I began skipping over passages of text that I identified as 'same stuff'. I've only had to resort to that tactic with one other book and it was the worst book I've ever read.

The other aspect is the constant sex. I love a good sex scene as much as the next guy but when you're causing the character to act, well, out of character by tossing it in, it detracts. Again, it was so pervasive that I found myself skipping ahead.

It seems as though the author either doesn't understand his target audience (it's an action book; we want action) or he wound up with less material than he needed for a 'full book' and filled.

Wow, what a book! Thank you Bernard Lee DeLeo! Monster has a little bit of everything. It's a real page turner all 640 pages of it. It's full of suspense & action , a real thriller.A girl is kidnapped they call him in to get her back . He got her back but they didn't like his tactics so they imprison him , that is until they need him once more. Monster is a real thriller but also funny at times. Every now & again a book comes along that you wouldn't ordinarily read or think you would like well just try it and you will not lose interest or get bored. On the contrary, you will be waiting on another book from this author. Definitely a 5* book!

I chose 5 stars, because it had everything that held my attention! My normal genre has always been True Crime, but Author Bernard Lee DeLeo has somehow got me to venture into newer areas!
I loved the characters in this book! Cold is definitely someone I would want in my corner! The storyline kept me interested from the beginning when he went in the mountains to search for a kidnapper and the little girl her had taken...to looking for terrorist and trying to prevent attacks!
When I first read reviews on Cold Mountain, I wasn't too sure it would be my type of book, especially since a lot of the reviews were by men! But along with the mystery and intrigue, there happens to have a little bit of romance in there!
I do hope someday Bernard does a "book 2" as I would love to see where the next assignment takes the characters. Not only in their professional lives, but also their personal lives as well!!

Hard to believe this author continues to write amazing novels. The characters he created are amazing and continues to cement true readers of his works. It is easy for the reader to delve into the characters inner souls, beliefs and ideologies of life. I have read all his available books on Kindle and hope there is more to come.

While normally, I only stick to true crime, I have this a whirl! Definitely worth the read. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, in a good way! It had everything I normally want in a book, but with the fiction aspect of it, my senses turned down just a notch, but definitely not enough to not read another of this author's work. For anyone who enjoys fiction, that sort of mimic of a thriller, action, and sort of what I would call a science fiction, here's your book!

another great story by Bernard Lee DeLeo! meet Colonel McDANIELS a man who incites fear by the mere mention of his name. His training in the military and Apache upbringing makes him a very dangerous man. Cold (his nickname) begins working under AD Rescova, and her team, searching for terrorist from various parts of the globe. the action is nonstop as we follow the teams sanctioned and Unsanctioned missions. there are lots of great characters and some very funny dialogue among the co-workers, But don't let that fool you they're a deadly group with unique skills. I recommend this book!

Another outstanding book by Bernard. The storyline moved very well with a lot of exciting action. Bernard did an excellent job of introducing and developing the characters throughout the book. The bantering by the various characters was very enjoyable. Hopefully he will make this into another great series of books.

Basic storyline is your typical 'hard-as-steel warrior but with a soft and caring underside'. Way too much trite humorous dialogue among the slew of protagonists. Interestingly, I remember liking it more as I read it as different from trying to describe why now...

If you like suspense, action, and humor you will love this book. It starts off with suspense and action mixed in is the humor. The main characters are great. Bernard is a great writer and a new favorite for me. I have yet to be disappointed with one of his books.

This was an outstanding book by an outstanding author. He writes what a lot of true American's wish could be done to criminals and terrorists. If you are a bleeding heart liberal, you will be outraged by his books, but if you are a patriot, they you will love it.
