I am very disappointed with the current Hannah Swensen novel. The elements that I liked in the author's previous novels are sadly missing. What happened to the small-town feel of this series? What we do have is a mystery that could have been told as a short story with fillers i. e.: numerous recipes, a discussion on peppers, a love square, twittering and cat stories. This novel was like the author phoned in the story. I want Hannah back!

I was looking for something to read after finishing everything Diane Mott Davidson has written but I just could not connect with the characters nor care about them and the recipe's were too over the top. I am sure it's my personal taste and there are many who enjoy this author.

As usual the author has great recipes along with detailed instructions of how to.
The plot is lame. Mystery unsolvable by reader as information isn't given until last minute. Most of book spent on minute details of baking and Hannah's life. The mystery is a sideline. Disappointing if you enjoy a good mystery.

I like the mystery aspect of these books but hate the evolution of the writer's style. It feels like with every book, the tone becomes more school teacher imparting knowledge than just a writer trying to write something entertaining. Every time there is a recipe or, for that matter, anything that this writer feels needs explaining she goes overboard with the condescending tone as if her readers are hopeless ignorants that need knowledge spoon fed to them. Every tiny detail is explained at Nauseum, and I'm not referring to the recipes after chapters, I'm talking about the text of the story. The dialogue is forced, nobody speaks like that! It doesn't flow like a normal conversation would among siblings, or friends, and that is also due to this compulsion to "educate" the reader. Stick to the mystery, which is interesting enough. If the writer wants to educate, she should then write textbooks.

This book was awesome! Definitely not what I was expecting, but I guess it was time. I loved the book. I just hope the ending doesn't mean the end of Hannah Swensen. I can't wait to see the town's reaction.

I've read book after book in this series expecting at least the same level of writing as the first few novels. I'm disappointed. There are too many recipes and less and less plot! In addition, the author took the easy out with Hannah's dilemma with her two leading men. Very disappointing!

Great recipes! Disappointed in the story line. Was hoping Hannah would stay single and certainly not marry Ross! But then I didn't write the story so I guess I will have to live with my disappointment. Joanne Fluke still is my all time favorite writer!!

This book was a huge disappointment. I read all the previous books and this was the worst by far and I will not be reading any more. I wish I could get a refund. This should have read a Hannah Swensen food blog with recipes instead of a mystery. The plot was very weak. We were left with a "cliff hanger" in the last book and the situation was not even addressed until we got through a Las Vegas wedding. The main characters have gone from being likable to just being annoying. This book is BORING, BORING, BORING and I will not spend 3 hours of my life reading another Hannah Swensen "mystery" (I use the work mystery loosely)

So disappointed. I used to enjoy this series. The last book was annoying and lacking. This book seemed inconsistent. the Hannah I enjoyed in the beginning of the series is gone. Book 18 Hannah is awkward, Inconsistent and lazy.
some of the dialog is ridiculous .
Spoiler
I actually hoped the new "man" Ross was the murderer...but no, Hannah supposedly picks Ross--but she's not honest or mature enough to tell Norman or Mike . Should I add those character traits to her list.

felt like something was missing..... I have read every book an I do love this series! I really would like to know what happens when Ross returns. He was not expected in this book and I do not trust him.
