This was a really enjoyable story. If you are already a Barritt fan, you won't be disappointed. The premise vaguely reminded me of her first Carolina Moon book- a famous person coming to a small town to find out what happened to her father, but it was far from a reproduction. If you are new to this author, definitely take the chance and give this one a try. Plenty of suspense and romance.
I love the new world of characters Barritt has introduced. Joey is quirky, but likable and is surrounded by characters that you are drawn to want to get to know. I am a sucker for a beach town setting, which she has captured beautifully. I like that the tone is a bit lighter than her suspense novels, and even Squeaky Clean, in my opinion. The pace is steady and you don't have to wait forever for back story. There were some things that could have used a little more attention. It felt awkward to me how the father was always referred to in the past tense, even though we don't know if he is dead or alive. But that didn't take away from the truly fun story. I can't wait for the next one! (I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review)

Ready to Fumble is author Christy Barritt's first book in a new series, and I am already hooked! I received this book in exchange for an honest review and I literally couldn't put it down! I read the entire book in two days. Poor Joey has gone through several rough life events and now her father is missing. After becoming a well-loved and well-paid TV star, Joey returns to her previous occupation, a hair stylist, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina -- in January! But her former "occupation" as a TV Detective catches up with her as she is drawn into the case of a missing boyfriend. As Joey reluctantly searches for the truth in the ensuing murder, as well as looking for her father, she clashes with a real police detective, Jackson Sullivan, and enjoys spending time with her surfer neighbor, Zane, who she is sure is a playboy. I didn't figure out whodunit until the very end. I loved the characters, and the mysteries involved, and look forward to Book #2 coming out soon!

This new series of Christy Barritt is fun and entertaining. I think I’m going to really enjoy getting to read all about Joey Darling as she fumbles along trying to stay out of trouble. She really doesn’t want to live as her made-up TV persona, but others seem to keep mixing it up.
I feel as you follow along in her story you will get more and more caught up in her life, and like me, desire for her to finally find some peace, answers to her questions and a normal life.
I can’t wait to continue to read more about Joey and to find out some of the answers to some of the mysteries in this book. Hopefully the next book will come along soon!

Christy Barritt is a wonderful author because she brings to life all these characters in such a way it’s as if I know them personally. She uses vivid word pictures and descriptions to tell this story. There is action, suspense, drama, and of course romance (but only just a bit).
I was provided a copy of this book by the author. All opinions in this review are my own.

I've really been looking forward to the newest series from Christy Barritt and "Ready to Fumble" does not disappoint!

Joey Darling is a very likable, multi-faceted main character. I felt like we would be friends if I met her in real life. Despite her own self-doubt, she is a strong, spirited and mostly competent heroine. I always loved the tv show "Castle" and Raven Remington, Joey's detective character, reminds me of the character Kate Beckett. There were several instances that this story made me laugh out loud and the suspenseful moments were believable and worked well in the story.

I was very intrigued by the love triangle that Joey finds herself in with Zane and Jackson. I'm still not 100% sure who she will choose, but I am looking forward to finding out in the next book.

First, the disclaimer. "I was provided a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own." That done, READY TO FUMBLE is the first book in The Worst Detective Ever Mystery Series. I love Joey. She is so sweet and clueless. I love Zane and I love Jackson. I can't decide who I want the hero to be, both of them have totally won my heart.

I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in this series to be released (this month!) Reign of Error.

If you like cozy mysteries, you will absolutely adore READY TO FUMBLE. I can't say enough good things about it. A totally relatable heroine, even if she is a former movie star, an aunt, appropriately named Dizzy, two wonderful heroic heroes, and a mystery! And no, I didn't guess who-dun-it. I had suspicions, but wow. In this bumbling fumbling cozy anything goes and things are not as they seem.

Must read.

Joey Darling, I love her. . .
Joey Darling is a tv star who plays a detective, only the lines seem to have been blurred for some. Now She's fumbling her way through a series of things, and figuring it out as she goes along. I love this book, I can't wait for the other books in this series. It's fun and funny with a bit of mystery, what's not to love. Oh, and did I mention just a smidgen of romance. I'm excited to follow the rest of her story to see where it will take her.

I was provided this book free for an honest review.
And I honesty love this books hands down!

Another winner from one of my all-time favorite mystery/romantic suspense authors! You absolutely cannot go wrong in choosing any Christy Barritt book to read. Every time I read one it quickly becomes my new favorite and, of course, Ready To Fumble fell right into my usual pattern.

Joey is such a quirky and flawed character that you can't help but like her. While most of us aren't movie-star gorgeous like she is, we can still relate to the fact that her life isn't pristine and perfect, in fact, it's a mess.
Christy Barritt has a real knack for penning zany characters who find themselves in some pretty wacky and even dangerous situations. Murder has truly never been so much fun...at least for readers...

Ready To Fumble is a wonderful start to a new mystery series from one of Christian fiction's most talented authors. It's a book, and a series, that you won't want to miss!

(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)

I recently discovered Christ Barritt, and just in time! I was sick of reading mindless, poorly written mysteries. Ready to Fumble was really well written, fun, had some twists, the clues made sense, and it was clean. The chemistry was great between the main characters, and the characters themselves were well developed. The story was not a cliche been done a million times story-thank goodness. The plot involves an actress who comes home to investigate her father's disappearance. She is drawn into a murder investigation by a suspect who hires her to find her boyfriend just like her character on tv. Ready to Fumble is a light, feel good mystery with heart, humor, and intelligence--a fun read. I'm glad she has more books; I can't wait to read them all!

I'm an avid Christy Barritt fan. Gabby of Squeaky Clean Mysteries will always be my favorite and no one has ever compared to her. After reading this book, for the first time, I found a character that comes close to my affinity for Gabby.

I loved the story, I really did, but I was troubled by the bad grammar. I understand that this book is meant to be conversational and colloquial. I also know that I'm by no means a grammarian. However, I felt the poor grammar too conversation. What bothered me the most was "whom" wasn't even MISused correctly. People use "who" all the time when it should be "whom," but I was surprised to see "whom" when it should be "who!" Maybe it's my lack of grammar skills that are wrong, but I found it distracting. It pains me to write this because I am very big fan of Christy Barritt (I've had sleepless nights reading Squeaky Clean and reread her books all the time), but this bothered me a lot.

*spoiler*
I'm trying to not say too much, so I'll just say I'm totally Team Z, even though based on her other books and character development, I don't think it's going to turn out this way.

Funny, charming, loveable fumbling detective-but-not, Joey is an ideal heroine—quirky, self-deprecating, trying to figure thing out, but screwing up more often than not. You can’t help but love her. And then there are at least two subplots that can sustain the series for several books. Not to mention two sexy men of completely opposite personalities who spark equally strong reactions in our girl.

Fans of Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic books and cozy suspense will enjoy this series. I’m not generally a fan of a single heroine and romantic tension that continues across multiple books, but I definitely plan to keep reading this series. It’s like reading your favorite binge-worthy show.

Another Christy Barritt success! One of my favorite writers, Christy has a large repertoire of characters and story lines. This book begins a new series with others soon to follow.

To me, Joey Darling was just one of those people who felt like an old friend, likable from the first page. She has no thoughts that she is a PI or that she has any business becoming involved in the crimes she found herself looking into. She tried to tell people she only played a detective on tv. She tried. But become involved she did and bless her heart, she did okay!

I received a copy of Ready to Fumble from Christy Barritt. The views expressed are my own.

Light-hearted, easy reading, fun, yet suspenseful novel.
I had the privilege of reading an ebook copy of this, and then also listening to it on audible.
My first by Christy Barritt. (I will have to admit that between my two readings of this book-reading & listening-I've also now read a book from another series of hers, and found that more to my personal preference, but I did like this one, too)
I liked the story line, although parts of it didn't feel quite realistic to me...
Joey Darling (aka Raven) says she isn't a detective, has no idea how to be one,
and yet she finds herself getting in to all kinds of frightening experiences.
I enjoyed the light-heartedness of this story.

I was very excited to hear that Christy Baritt was coming out with a new series, and it didn't disappoint! Joey Darling is an actress who is home trying to find some answers and suddenly gets pulled into an investigation by someone who assumes she can investigate like the character she plays on television, which lands Joey Darling in a lot of trouble.
The characters in this story feel real and I love that they aren't too perfect. Being a clumsy and fumbly person myself it's nice to have a reluctant detective who doesn't get it all right...pretty much ever lol...The mystery gets solved but you're left with intrigue as the background story arc leaves you with questions and desperately wanting some answers! SOON! Can't wait for book 2 in February :)

I have enjoyed many of Christy Barritt's books and was very excited to read her latest. This book kicks of a new series and we get to meet Joey Darling, an actress who has experience great success in Hollywood as the star of a hit detective show, but now finds herself trying to piece together her life in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. When a woman comes into the beauty parlor where she has taken a job cutting hair and wants to hire the character Joey played on TV to solve a real life mystery, Joey finds herself in the middle of a real investigation. As Joey takes on the role of her alter ego, we get to get to know Joey Darling as she gets to know herself. This book drew in me right away. I enjoyed getting to know Joey and the other characters in this book. I can't wait for the next book to come out and to join Joey Darling on her next adventure!

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

I enjoyed this new series by Christy Barritt. I liked how Joey was able to draw from her tv experiences to figure out what had happened even when she at first didn't believe that she could be of any help. I enjoyed seeing how Joey interacted with the other characters and am awaiting the next book to see where some of the relationships go and to learn more of her background.

I really enjoyed this book, you were always kept in suspense not knowing what was waiting around the corner for Joey/Raven. I loved that there were multiple storylines going on with different people, but you were never lost amongst the storylines like I have seen in other books. Very well written. I couldn't put it down until I had read the full book. Sleep who needs it! :) Thank you Christy Barritt for another great read!

I offered to read this book for an honest review of my opinion and was sent a free copy by the author.

Received a free copy in exchange for a review

I thought this would be an enjoyable bit of fluff and I was right. She played a kickass detective on TV so naturally a fan thinks she can really solve a missing person case which turns out to be a murder. Some interesting characters and one of the missing persons cases is not solved.

Christy Barritt is one of my favorite authors! If you have never read a book by her, now is the time to start! You will not be able to put the book down! I have loved everything I have read of hers (I love the Squeaky Clean series!), and this book did not disappoint! I quickly fell in love with the characters in Ready To Fumble - Christy has a fantastic way of making the characters and setting seem so real, and you quickly become enraptured by what is going on in their lives. Ready to Fumble is full of suspense, humor, and fun and will leave you guessing until the very end! I cannot wait for the next book in the series! I received a free copy of this book in order to write an honest review.

Loved the suspense that made my reading exciting in the Outer Banks
Jory's quirky character and nosiness make for a good read.
There were other characters that stood out for me, Dizzy, Jackson, and Zane.
I recommend this for anyone that likes a cozy mystery.

I really enjoyed this first novel in Christy Barritt's new series! The idea of a washed up actress who played an amazing detective on TV actually trying to be a detective really made for an entertaining story. The characters were a lot of fun, and I liked the bit of potential romance brought into the series. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Christy Barritt does it again: a fun and mysterious plot, funny and quirky characters, plenty of suspense and a sprinkle of romance. I have read all of Christy's books (some of them more than once) and I never have enough. If you love clean and fast-paced mysteries, you won't be disappointed with Barritt's new series.

fun read with a strong leading character. Raven/Joey take you on a vacation while barely escaping bad guys! no one is to be trusted and the figuring the killer keeps you guessing till the end! This is going to be an exciting fun romantic series! I look forward to Raven/Joey's adventures! ps. Everyone single gal needs a neighbor like "Zane"!! Man O'Man, magical fingers!!

I love Christy Barritt's stories. This new character and series is a delightful read as the main character is trying to figure out her life following a major change. She is typecast based on a role that she had played as an actress but will she successfully do that in real life? You'll have to read it to find out! Enjoy!

This is another great book by Christy Barritt. It is fun and easy to read. There are many suspects and thrills. It's a little quirky but very attention getting. Joey stumbles upon clues with the help of her neighbor Zach.
