I started out reading, Every Thug Needs a Lady. I had to go back and read this book to make sure I read the series in order. I read and review all genres. I have read work by Cornel West, Eric Michael Dyson, Derrick Bell, Toni Morrison, Beverly Jenkins, Nikki Giovanni, international authors, nonfiction authors, etc. Sometimes you need a break from the intellectual world to just divulge in a good read. If you are a reader looking for a book that has erotica, a romance element, just the right amount of danger, and great character development, this would be a great read for you. I added this book to my endless list of series books. I really encourage readers to read across genres and enjoy a variety of books. I have noticed while writing many of the reviews for books on the store.com a crazy trend. There are groups of folks that are writing manifestos on reviews trashing authors that make the best-sellers list. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. However, I would encourage readers to continue to read a wide variety of books. Also, to read the book samples of any work prior to purchasing. There are thousands of books on the store that deserve a poor review. I would beg to differ that this one does. Please keep up the good work.

This book was just plain uninteresting. All the book was about were 3 women who were involved with thugs. Then the book ended so unfinished. I hated all the characters. I don't see how Angel is going to law school to be a lawyer when she writes hot checks and allows herself to be beaten by her pimp boyfriend Snake. She will only end up beaten to death by her boyfriend or facing prison time for check fraud. I don't know what Kyra problem is. How she gone get back together with Marvin when he got her addicted to heroin ? Jaz is a total hypocrite. She trying to tells her boyfriend Faheem to stop dealing drugs when she makes crystal meth with a white dude from her school. I despised her character most of all.

Wahida Clark is by far one of my favorite authors, I have never read one of her books, that I didn't really enjoy, and connect with the characters. Thugs and the Women who Love them is the first book, in a series of Thug Books by Wahida Clark. You will love this book. This book is centered around three women Kyra,Jaz,and Angel, and the Thug men in there lives. Angel is a good girl, who is going to college to be a lawyer. The Thug in Angel's life is Snake aka Keenan. Snake is a mean Pimp. He totally abuses women, and has several women he pimps and beats regularly. Snake and Angel have a love/hate relationship, he pays all of her bills, and doesn't prostitue Angel, but he beats her , and he has many women in his life. Jaz is in a relationship with Faheem, he is a hustler who maintains many Liquor Stores, and Check Cashing Companies.Jaz has pleaded that she can not be with a drug dealer and that Faheem needed to get out of the game. Jaz is a Chemisry major in College, and she is already letting her Major pay off, by cooking Crystal Meth . Faheem doesn't know this part of Jaz, until she is arrested and needs Faheem to come to her rescue. Kyra,is about to become a Doctor. When Kyra was younger she fell in love with Marvin, who was much older than her and a known drug dealer. Kyra and Marvin indulged and became Heroin addicts together.Marvin got a 7 year sentence in prison, and Kyra got her life together, now he is out of prison and coming back to claim his woman. These Women stand by there men, all in the name of love. After you read the book you will have a few unanswered questions, which is okay since the best is yet to come.I really liked this book,if you like hot, urban GHETTOFABULOUS, thuggish books, then you will enjoy this one. This is real street lit!!!!

when starting off reading this book, im not gonna lie,it was a little slow and boring to me,but as the book got over the first part with angel, i believe that it got really good. i guess i just didnt like angel's part at all. kyra and jaz have to be my favorite characters so far in this book. and ohh i am lovin faheem..what a man!! not to spoil anything but i hope jaz ends up ok and i also felt really sad about what happened with her crazy sister..glad that kyra got back on her feet and also happy that she got her boo back. all in all this was a good book and now i cant wait to read every thug needs a lady cuz i am really interested to see what happends next with these friends.

This book will leave you hanging, simple as that. So thank God I read the following sequels after this book. But real talk this book wasnt THAT good like how I was expecting it to be, The characters were under developed, certain scenes and story lines were incomplete and all over the place,etc..etc...etc...I am trying to remain a loyal fan of Wahida Clark's books but it is really getting hard with these half a** unrealistic novels!! The beginning started off really good but as it got closer to the middle and end of the book the worse the story got,no details or nothing! Sorry but true!

Intense and powerful. Some might believe this book was ficticious but I grew up in the projects where this story is played out every day. This is a must read for all real ghetto fans. Even if you are not from the ghetto this is a must read. This book shows you how intelligent women can get wrapped up in the wrong man. And trust me it can happen...........The only reason why I gave it four stars is because this author can do better and I see the potential in Ms. Clark. SHE IS TRULY A HIP HOP QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really thought that this book was going to better than what I read! I have heard several times that this was a good book, but to me it was ok. I just knew that it was a novel, but the book is broken down into 3 parts and it tells about three different girls lives and each story leaves you hanging. So I guess thats why Wahida Clark made a sequel this book. Maybe the sequel will give me answers to the questions that I have about this book. I don't know but I'm about to read the sequel...

Finally decided to give this series a chance. I listened to it through audible. The first one was good so I was excited about this one but I was highly annoyed when I had to start fast forwarding through scene after scene of sex!! Its cool every now and then but after the same people having sex for the 5th time not even halfway through the book it gets old! It makes me think that the author is out of ideas and is just trying to fill space and distract us. Book number 3 is not available on audible so im gonna take a chance and skip to number 4. If 3 is like 2 then i won't miss much lol. If 4 is all sex then im done with this series, i won't even waste my credits on book 5

Wahida Clark is an awesome writer! Thugs And The Women Who Love Them keeps the reader itching to turn the page to find out what's about to jump off next.

I acquired this book from the public library. When I found out there were two sequels, I hurried to the closest book store to purchase them. I also enjoyed the interview at the end of this book. Keep up the good work, Wahida!

I thought the author was going somewhere with the Angel and the check scheme, especially after every piece of clothing was designer driven. The mall opening was a great hook that roped me in, but once the story started reflecting on backfill, it read kinda "young", high school-ish. The cover art features mature adults, but the characters had an extremely youthful appeal. Maybe it was the voice. And Angel was "high yellow" the cover featured a brown skinned female. Anyway, it was a decent read.

This is not just your typical "hood love story", this story shows you the lives of 3 bf's ,their friendships and their love lifes...thug love that is! They are savy and street smart females but........love is blind. Page turner that makes you want more-Go get this ASAP! Part 3 comming in a few months :0)

Some interesting characters and it might have been a good book had it been a little more detailed. I guess she wrote it fast or had some difficulties because the back cover and story have the characters mixed up. It's 4 friends you only hear from 3 what's up with that?
A whole lot of dysfuction for all of these girls. One is dating a pimp (YUCK!) A drug dealer who turns her out, and a hustler who turns legit! It tells each individual story but as you read it isn't clear because their endings aren't revealed so you're like what in the hell is going on!
Maybe in part 2 she'll tell you what happened but then wouldn't that lead to a part 3?
I think that this book with more time, and better editors could be a good read, the last half does get kind of interesting.
