Dark and Deadly Book 1, Hot Secrets: Tall

Lisa Renee Jones is such a great writer! I connect so well with her characters. This was actually the first book I read from her and now I have read this entire series. They are all so good but this was my first and my favorite still.

I liked this story about hot FBI agent Royce Walker and the relationship that developed between he and Lauren, the district attorney. I liked how he had a need to protect her, and would like to read the rest of the series. I will read more from this author. I particularly liked the Amy Benson books.

I thought this book was just okay. I really felt like the first half of the book really drug on. I even contemplated not finishing the book. Okay read but I prefer up a lot more drama in my stories, and a lot more mystery. I love and an alpha male lead but this book seem to say he was an alpha male, but didn't really show it .

To start off with, I actually really liked the book and the fact that the heroine was a strong woman and not a simpering, whimpering character that looked for reasons or her own lack of confidence to sabotage her relationship with the Hero....He was not a over testosteroned Alpha male that also made this book enjoyable. It seems lately that every heroine I've been forced to endure is unlikeable (ie Toni Aleo's hockey series)....Lyndsey was a woman and not a girl in a woman's body. One criticism, and only because it caused me confusion, when someone nods their head the answer is almost always Yes and when someone shakes their head the answer is almost always No...you did this twice in this book and it's a small thing but I believe a universal reference. I also thought this book was a bit "tame"....seemed like I was reading a Silhouette romance and I was a bit disappointed romance department...but the strong heroine made up for any other criticism I could think of.

Though not necessarily classified as erotica, this book is Rated M for mature audience due to sex and some violence. And though this is not a police procedural book, the suspense will also thrill lovers of that genre. In short, Hot Secrets (Tall, Dark, and Deadly) is great representation of romantic suspense.

The story of Lauren Reynolds, Asst DA and Royce Walker, Security Specialist, "Hot Secrets" begins with the villain plotting the torture and death of Lauren. That gets your adrenaline working even in the prologue. The first chapter jumps into the meeting of Lauren and Royce, wherein sparks flew immediately and thus early on, there was a promise of sizzling sex scenes which of course the author delivered.

Again, this book is not erotica. But, what made it seem so is because of the double adranaline rush due to danger and two hot lovers.

Great read and hard to put down once you start.

The Royce brothers really are something else. The guys in these books really are something else. I think I'm in love. All you have to do is read this 1st book in the series and u will be I love and dying to read the rest

In this erotic thriller, Royce Walker, co owner of Walker security with his two brothers Blake and Luke, meets Lauren. As a favor to her father, he was suppose to check out some threats and see if she was in any danger, and it was love at first sight. Lauren works for the DA's office and she's on a big death penalty case and is being harassed. Between Royce and Lauren falling in love, the Walker brothers trying to protect her and find the guy or girl who's responsible, this story is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. I found myself smiling out load several times thru out this story between Lauren and Royce being so cute and sexy together and the Walker brothers witty banter with one another. I really loved this book! Can't wait to read Blake and Luke's stories.

I really loved this book and all the characters. I would love to read more about Royce and Lauren. I love the other characters and read the other 2 books in this series but I want more Royce and Lauren.

Another incredible book by Lisa Renee Jones! This book will keep you intrigued, it has suspense, tears and love. If you want a book that will be hard to put down, keep you warm on a cold day, then this book is for you. Happy reading!

The story is so romantic and exciting - the oldest Walker brother is breathtaking, possessive (in a good way) and passionate. I imagine him as 6'5" with broad shoulders, super muscular but not bulky a la Joe Manganiello - simply dreamy... a wonderful read!

This was a pretty good, somewhat short romance story that left me longing for more and hotter sex scenes. There were times when I couldn't put my kindle down. I will probably read other books from this author.

I really hoped it would be better. The relationship felt rushed and for an important attorney, the heroine had a lot of free time. She was never harried or tied to her phone, nor pouring over work she had to drag home with her. The heroine also committed one of my unforgivable sins. She refused to take the advice of those looking out for her and not only dashed impulsively into danger without regard for her own safety, in doing so she forced another person to put his neck on the line to protect her thoughtless, childish behind. I've already deleted this from my Kindle and won't be buying another.

If you love suspense filled romance novels this one is perfect. There is a perfect balance of thrill and suspence while maintaining the allure with romantic anticipation. Hard to put down, and I cant wait to read the rest of the series.
