I anxiously waited for this to come out and turned on my ereader first thing to make sure it downloaded and sure enough, it was there. I liked that this book was from Chris's point of view, however it was just a teaser and way too short. There weren't any "great secrets" revealed that you didn't already know or figure out from previous books and it left me wanting much more. I wish I could give it 5 stars, but it just didn't give me a Chris and Sara fix I was looking for and it's a long wait until the next book comes out in July.

Lisa never seems to Amaze me with her brilliant writing.. I'm going to be sad when this Series is over I have come to identify with every character. I love when a writer can pull you in to a story line and you can't wait to find out what happens next.. ..Absolutely LOVE Lisa Renee Jones

I absolutely loved hearing Chris' POV. It makes me crave No In Between coming out in August!!!! I'm so glad Lisa decided to continue the series after the original 3 books! I can't get enough of the Inside Out Series!

Now I'm just sad I have to wait until July for the next installment, My Hunger (Mark's POV Novella)!

***This review may contain spoilers if you have not read the books in order***

Sara and Chris are still in Paris. Chris finally revealed his secret to Sara. But was that the end or was there more to the story. After a passion filled night Sara and Chris are woken by a call from Tristan. Amber had fallen off the deep end and she was with Isabel. The two women together was a recipe for disaster.

Will Chris get to her in time and was he willing to let Sara see everything he was still hiding?

His Secrets, picks up after REVEALING US. I am very pleased with the books starting with IF I WERE YOU. The books all flow together nicely and you can pick up the books in order with ease. The sex scenes are extremely personal, you almost get the feeling of turning away from watching two people being so intimate with one another. The author writes with so much feeling and description you feel like you are right in the middle of the “action”. A great read. This was erotic, so if you are not into erotic, this was not the book for you, but if you like a mystery laced with hot sex scenes, you found it. The books need to be read in order. I would not recommend picking them up out of order.

His Secrets picks up right were Revealing Us leaves off. In this novella we truly get a look inside of Chris Merit and the struggles he has with his past and present. He brought Sarah to Paris to show her the other side of him. He struggles with it being too much for her and she will run and never look back.

"I need this control. She needs a safe place to give it away. It works for us, and I will always be safe for her in away the whip never was for me- a way I've never wanted it to be"

As always we get the hot steamy pull that Sarah and Chris have to each other. The chemistry is off the charts and Lisa Renee Jones does an amazing job by making me feel like a voyeur in their world. He feels like he now has the control he so needs. That Sarah has filled the void in his life that was once replaced by the whip.

"My demons are under control, locked away in a deep, dark cavern in my soul where they won't be destructive."

When it looks like their vacation is about to come to an end, Chris gets a call from Tristan desperate for his help. Chris is forced to take Sarah to the one place where he dreaded going. Isabel's Club. Tristan knows Chris is the one person who can reach Amber. But with that Isabel will also be able to get him right where she wants him.

Its a thrilling addition to the Inside Out Series and if you a fan of them, its one that you cannot miss! 5 huge stars!

Since the moment Chris and Sara met, much like her meeting with Mark, I wanted to know what made them tick: where did they turn to the lifestyle to enact the control that perhaps was lacking elsewhere. Where Mark’s control is evidenced in every facet of his life, Chris has a seemingly relaxed approach to his life and work. While there is no lack of focus, Chris is always dancing in the face of his demons, allowing them to control his reactions until he snaps to hide from those same demons by retreating in pain.
This has been the most wrenching journey, moments when I wanted nothing more than to shake him and pull his fears out into the open and show him just how insignificant they are, in the face of the love and acceptance he has found with Sara. Chris has a very active interior life, one that is full of darkness and shadows, and he is unwilling to trust that shining a light in those corners will not scare Sara off.

And, in many ways, I can empathize with his dilemma. Sara is stronger, far stronger than anyone has given her credit: and at times I wonder if her desire to know it all is more rooted in curiosity than in actually feeling the need to know. But, my worst fears were unfounded where she was concerned, and as I have come to know her throughout this series I am finding more to admire about her courage and her dedication to her convictions and to Chris.

Yes, this is a short, and as with all of the books in this series to this point, pieces are revealed as even more questions about where do we go from here are left unanswered. And this was no exception: answers that I needed to better understand Chris’ past actions and behavior were revealed, and while I don’t believe that we have sorted out all of his issues, there was a new layer added to the connection between them.

Again Lisa Renee Jones stole an hour of my time to transport me into the lives and world of Chris and Sara, and kept me enchanted and wondering every moment. And the series is falling into place, with all of the information now being revealed, those earlier unanswered questions are now settling in favor of more questions: most importantly what next?
This is NOT a stand alone read: do yourself the favor and invest the time and energy into reading all of the earlier books in the series. It is a roller coaster of emotions, intensity and enjoyment, and you won’t regret a moment.

I received an eArc copy via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review. All conclusions are my own responsibility.

MY THOUGHTS:

Chris is finally telling us his side of the story in this new Novella from the INSIDE OUT SERIES!

The book starts right where Revealing Us left off.
Remember? Chris just proposed to Sara in Paris. After he tried to keep his demons locked away - the demons that want to come out every year on the anniversary of Amber's parents' and his mother's deaths.
He didn't really kill those demons yet - maybe the proposal happened a bit too soon. But he just can't stand the thought of losing Sara too...of not being with her forever...

Everything could go back to as normal as possible - with the trial waiting back in California...but then they get a phone call about Tristan, Amber & Isabel...
and everything Chris hoped for is threatened again...

Will Sara still want him, once she knows the REAL Chris?
The Chris he tries to hide from the world?

I'm not telling you that of course ☺ it would totally spoil your reading pleasure ;)

I LOVED THE NOVELLA!!!

It was soooo horribly short :(
it's a novella - I knew that! But still :( it was Chris - I wish Lisa had written a 800-pages book in Chris's POV ☺

The novella was perfect though!

I have no idea how Lisa managed to write sooo much feelings and angst and suspense and emotions and sparkly erotic moments into such a short book!!!!?!

It was so amazing to finally read how Chris sees his world - how much he loves Sara - how much he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.
How scared he is to lose her - afraid that she won't be able to handle the real him...

I really enjoyed reading it. And yes, it took me way longer to write this than to read the book - but it was SO worth it ☺

at the end we even get a tiny little preview of the next book - My Hunger - Mark's POV ☺ YAY

His Secrets picks up right before Chris and Sara head back to San Francisco. There is some time spent at the country home in Paris in which Sara and Chris finally get to spend some much needed time alone. All too quickly though, we are back in the world in which Chris must battle his demons at every turn. This novella, told from Chris’ POV, holds many key elements that will be present throughout the remainder of the series.
Chris and Sara continue to battle with Chris’ past in His Secrets. They flip back and forth between what is good for them and what they need, crave and desire.
Amber, Isabel and Tristan all play a pivotal role in this story. We delve deeper into problems between all of the characters and hit breaking points for a few of them as well. There were parts where I wanted to smack someone, hug someone and cry for someone. I kept thinking about the characters and how what happened was going to affect them in the future. In true Inside Out style His Secrets was just as haunting and captivating as its predecessors.
His Secrets opens up so many more roads that this story line can travel. I saw Chris finally have a breakthrough in making peace with his past but, he and Sara still have a very long road ahead of them. I’m not sure who was fooling themselves in this book. Was Sara being too naive about Chris’ past? Or was Chris underestimating Sara’s ability to handle the screwed-up not so distant past he had lead?
I do have to stress that this book is a very vital part of what is to come in the Inside Out Series. What happens in Paris will probably not stay in Paris… Or maybe it will. Who knows?
