Umm. Okay. Hmm. Deep Under was pretty lackluster for a LRJ book. It was a lot of set-up for very little payoff. Seriously the ending is so rushed and anticlimactic that I flipped back to see if I’d accidentally skipped a couple of pages. I like Kyle, I liked him in the Tall, Dark and Deadly series. Myla, bless her heart was kind of a ridiculous character. While it was admirable that she had been collecting information for a year to take down her cartel running captor it was just too far-fetched that someone that’s been held captive and brutalized as we’re to believe Myla has been would be so well adjusted. All the elements were in place for a great story so it’s a disappointing read for fans of Jones’ other series that it didn’t work. It's a 2-2.5 star read for me.

An ARC was provided by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

5 amazing stars

Ever since i read my first book by Lisa Renee Jones, i was hooked and simply couldn't get enough of her stories. She's one of those authors that created an insta-fan in me because while all different from one another, all of her books have that realism that makes you thirst for more. The first books i read by this author was her Careless Whisper series and it blew me away, but who would have thought that while reading Deep Under, I'd get to find a reference to it!

4.5 sexy dreams

There's no denying how captivating this story. I couldn't get through it fast enough to find out what would happen between Kyle and Myla - their chemistry is undeniable and their history so tangled up together that it was more than a little nerve racking. This is the type of book that will keep you at the edge of your seat from start to finish. Needless to say that i'm impatiently waiting for the next instalment in this series.

"Deep Under" Walker Security #1, Tall, Dark, and Deadly #4 is by author Lisa Rene Jones.
My Rating: 4
Cover: 3.5
Published: April 18, 2016
Read: January 23, 2017
Standalone novel
Series: Tall, Dark, and Deadly #4, Walker Security #1

Deep Under is book one in the Walker Security series. This novel is also interconnected with the Tall, Dark, and Deadly series. It is a crossover novel. I have not yet read any of the other books. That said, this book is a standalone. And although I did have some curiosity regarding relationships with the secondary characters, I was easily able to follow along with no problems.

Kyle and Myla.....

The book opens with a prologue going back 14 months. It is here we infer that Myla will be abducted by a powerful cartel boss. But we don't get any details until Myla has flashbacks throughout the following chapters.

Myla has been the 'kept' woman of one of the FBI's most dangerous and elusive criminals. She has had to close her mind off to her true emotions in order to survive the horror of Michael Alvarez; a despicable excuse for a human being. After 14 months with Michael, Myla gains a tiny bit of trust from him. Of course that bit of trust is questionable. Non existent actually. Michael trusts no one. Even so, Myla is finally allowed a little bit of freedom; not really. That is of course as long as her new bodyguard stays close. But not too close.

Kyle is a member of the Walker Security team. An elite team of former military and FBI. Since Myla was kidnapped, Kyle could think of nothing but finding her. He never actually met Myla but he feels a strong connection. When Kyle goes undercover, taking the role of a bodyguard, he is not a little shocked to learn that it's Myla he his guarding. Kyle is thrilled but cautious. He knows what could happen to both of them if his cover is blown.

It's not easy for Myla to trust her new bodyguard; even if he does make her feel safe. And for very real reasons, Kyle must tread carefully albeit slowly before revealing himself. There are a whole lot of complications is this book.

There is a lot of suspense and angst. Just waiting for the 'proverbial' shoe to drop made for many tense moments. Since this is a romantic suspense, I won't give away and spoilers. I will say for all the angst and worry, the climax was a bit rushed; but no less satisfying.

I really liked this book and definitely plan to read book two in the Walker Security series which is Asher's story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this novel.

So this series is about the Walker Security company and the main players are ex-FBI, ex-ATF, ex-SEALs….you get the idea. They are so alpha and once they find the person who they are mean to be with they will not take no for an answer. In this book, Kyle takes a job for a cartel boss who wants him to be the bodyguard for his woman, Myla.

I have to admit that I had not read the prior Tall, Dark and Deadly books so I missed the back stories for the already formed couples, but still I could quickly connect with Kyle and Myla. At times I loved their instant connection, but at times things seemed a bit rushed or unnatural. Like if he didn’t know who he was guarding, then how did he know everything about her…..wouldn’t that have seemed odd to her. And then the scene on the airplane….seemed really rushed.

I have definitely been waiting for this book! I love Lisa's books and the way she writes. She makes you fall in love with the characters and the story, no matter what is happening.

I love the Walker men, but I was super excited for Myla and Kyle's story. Myla is Kara's sister, who's missing and presumed dead. Kyle is obsessed with Myla and doesn't believe she's dead. He believes with every being in his body that she's alive.

Michael Alvarez is a bad man and a man that seemingly has no weaknesses. Except he does, and her name is Myla. Kyle is hired to protect the one weakness and finds out he's been right all along, Myla is alive. He wasn't supposed to fall in love with her, just protect her, but life has a funny way of doing what it wants.

Myla loves fashion and she truly believes that Michael is helping her reach her goals. Unfortunately, he's not doing it out of the kindness of his heart. When she finally starts to see what's happening, the games of cat and mouse begin. Who can outsmart whom.

It's an amazing road full of twists, turns and surprises!!

LOVED this series and highly recommend all of them.

A great mix of danger, action and sexy romance.

For the past fourteen months Myla has been held captive by a notorious kingpin. But she’s no shrinking violet, she’s not only survived her hellacious prison but is also smart and strong enough to keep her FBI sister safe while gathering intel that will help save women in the sex trade side of her captor’s business. The time has come for her to get out but she can’t do it alone. Can she trust her new mysterious bodyguard that makes her feel hotter and safer than anyone in a long time?

Kyle had seen the video footage that indicated Myla was dead, yet he refused to believe it and had kept looking for her ever since. He can hardly believe it when one of his undercover assignments leads him right to her. Can he convince her he’s one of the good guys and still keep his cover long enough to get her safely out?

I really like suspenseful romances, they tend to add a layer of excitement which make the plot that more interesting. Deep Under does that with the constant threat of the mafia lord coming to get the girl and kill whoever he thinks is the enemy including the brooding alpha who’s been in love with the girl since before he actually met her. And while hero and heroine are waiting for the shoe to drop, they slowly build a relationship in which trust is key but the attraction between them is also highly combustible.

I liked how much Kyle wanted not just to protect and save Myla, he also wanted her trust and he proved to her time and again he would always be there for her. Myla’s strong spirit was a perfect match for him. I would have loved though, to get to know both of them better as I felt we only scratched the surface of who Kyle and Myla really are.

Plot wise, I really liked the uncertainty of who and when would come at them which helped build their relationship but also felt a bit rushed at the end.

Deep Under is book #4 in the Tall, Dark and Deadly series by Lisa Renee Jones. It’s a suspenseful, standalone romance full of excitement and sexiness with a happy ending. Told from both points of view.

I really enjoy this authors books, she knows how set a story up. The action and romance is both suspenseful and proactive. Kyle has been searching for over a year for Myla, the sister of a team member whom they believed to be dead, when he finds her to be still alive, he sets it up for him to go in undercover to be a body guard for the Mob boss, Alvarez. What he wasn’t expecting is that he is to protect the very woman he has been looking for. After hearing all the stories about her, watching video of her he just knew she was meant for him. Now if only he can convince Myla to trust him, that he is the good guy. Can Myla trust Kyle not to turn on her the way all the other men in Alvarez’s employment have done? I love that the author gives us POV for both characters. I love how Kyle is with Myla in privet and a complete jerk and unmovable with others. I liked how Myla had stayed so strong to stay alive and how her main objective was to save other woman, so they don’t have to live a life as a slave. If you enjoy stories with action, suspense, and super sexy hot alpha males, then this is a great series for you.

Oh how I’ve missed these characters! Another exciting, scorching hot, suspenseful novel from one of my all time favorite authors! Kyle is sure to charm the pants off of you and make you blush from head to toe. This is a man who doesn’t take no for answer, and the beautiful Myla pushes his buttons in all the right ways. The question is will they be allies or their own worst enemies…

DEEP UNDER can be read as a standalone, but be prepared to fall in instant LOVE with all old and new characters alike. Lisa Renee Jones always weaves an exciting and exhilarating romance full of suspense and passion. This book is PURE HEAT! The emotions that these characters provoke are intense and you will be unable to look away. It’s page after page of heart pounding sexy times!

A man who never gave up.

A woman bound and determined to break free.

“Let me go.”

“I’ll stop touching you, sweetheart, but I’m not letting you go.”

The prologue had shivers running down my spine. I just knew I was in for a wild, emotional, and passionate ride. Nobody puts me in a trance like Lisa Renee Jones. I’m excited to see where this series is going to go.

This book has some dark subject matter but doesn't go into detail just hints to it.

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book will have you on the edge of your seat, flipping page after page. It was hard to put down.
I really enjoyed the plot and characters created. The chemistry is off the charts!!!

Kyle maybe a hard man but he is loyal, he is sexy and commanding but he has a fun soft side that bleeds through the pages. Myla has been through hell this past year but she still has some fight left she maybe vulnerable but she is far from weak.

This book can be read as a stand alone but there are characters from the previous books. I have not read the other books yet but was able to follow along. It is also told in the POV of both Kyle and Myla.

This is the first installment in the new spin-off series of Tall Dark and Deadly featuring the men of Walker Security. I am new to Lisa Renee Jones as an author, this being only the second book I have read by her, but I understand why she has such a loyal fan base. This is a fast pace story full of suspense and romance. It is well written and plotted and keeps the readers full attention until the story's conclusion. Walker is a wonderful hero. He is definitely an alpha male but has a great sensitive side. Myla is a perfect compliment to his character. After all she has been through, she is smart, determined, strong and allows herself to open up to Walker. These are characters that have depth and are layered, engaging the reader and allowing them to connect and care about what happens. While this book can be read as a stand alone, the introduction of characters from prior books will make you want to know their story as well. I will be looking forward to reading more from this author.

Deep Under is the fourth book in Lisa Renee Jones' Tall, Dark and Deadly series and while it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the previous three books since there are overlapping story threads and I think you will get the most enjoyment if you have all the background story before you begin. The story is told from dual points of view so we get to see the story from both Kyle and Myla's perspectives. Kyle works for Walker Security and has spent the last year trying to find Myla, the sister of his best friend's wife. He manages to infiltrate the Mexican drug cartel they believe is responsible for his kidnapping and is shocked to find out the person he is hired to be a bodyguard for is none other than Myla. I loved both Kyle and Myla. Kyle is tough, commanding and so incredibly sweet with Myla and I loved how Myla was independent and did not come off in the slightest bit like a damsel in distress. There were plenty of steamy scenes and also the perfect amount of action to keep things interesting and making it impossible to put down.

I've always loved anything Lisa Renee Jones writes and this book is no exception. Her writing style engages you immediately in the story line and her characters are always so easy to relate to you just can't help but fall for the alpha men and strong women she creates.

Deep Under is Kyle and Myla's story.

Myla has been missing presumed dead by some for over a year after been taken by the leader of a Cartel. Her sister Kara and Kara's friend Kyle have never given up looking for her. When Kyle takes a job as an undercover bodyguard with the same Cartel that took Myla, has he just been given an in to find her?

A great book full of heartbreak, passion and suspense. It can be read as a standalone but if you would like the back story then I would suggest reading the Tall, Dark and Deadly Series first.

Wow those Walker men and associates (family by love if not blood) are friggin intense, scary (in a good way) hot and amazing.
This is another wonderful story by LRJ, romantic suspense that's keeps you in a state of anticipation and on high alert to what will happen next.
The heroine in this book is Myla, and she is my new favorite girl crush!! She is strong independent and caring. What she indured to keep her sister safe and herself...unimaginable. The line "he broke her body but not her soul" is a statement to how strong this character is.
Kyle, yummy male BOOK boyfriend...damn fine protective man. If he was guarding me, I say let's never leave the bedroom, the floor, the wall etc, etc.
LRJ has another hit in this amazingly, brilliant, intense sexy read.
Can be a Standalone read, but to fully love all the Walker men I highly suggest reading the other books, HEA, no cliffhanger.
Gifted read by Netgalley and the author for an honest review.

A covert mission, a twisted hostage situation, too many layers of deceit and fear to break free from, and a romance edged with sacrifice and impossible trust.

What a magnificent story. I'm really into this author's writing style which feels so professional, intense and acutely smart. The dialogues claw their way into your mind and keep it logged onto the flow until you're breathless. Kyle's chapters show the well-researched, highly skilled expert who's ex-FBI and hell-bent on rescuing Myla and eliminating Alvarez's sex-trafficking business. He inserts himself inside Myla's shell and tempts her into unknown dangers.

From her POV, the threats in her life are palpable but also her survival instinct on full force. If you're into heavily strategic and psychological suspense plots, this one is wonderfully devised. The passion between Myla and Kyla is smoldering, and strongly linked to trusting again and to feeling like oneself again after a horrifying and alienating experience of captivity.

I thought it was very interesting the way that their relationship developed in such close quarters, surrounded by threats and in deep concentration of the strategies in motion. A lot of tension that leads to a dramatic ending made me love another of this author's great stories once again. No I really want to read the resolution of Ella's story!

(This is my honest and happy opinion of a book I wanted to read).

In true Lisa Renee Jones fashion, she has published another book that has captured my heart. I loved the Tall, Dark, and Deadly series, actually I love every single one of this author's books, but back to this. The Tall, Dark and Deadly series you first meet Kyle and Myla. I was so anxious to get my hands on this book and it most definitely did not disappoint. This book is a standalone but I really think you would enjoy it better if you read the other series if for no other reason than a) those books are really damn good, but also b) you are given a little insight to what is going on since you are introduced to these two main characters. I sat down with this book and could not put it down until I got to the end. I felt like I had a vise around my heart throughout the whole book. There was so much that Kyle and Myla but especially Myla had to overcome. Kyle was just the person to help her. I don't think Ms. Jones could have written a better matched pair. I always struggle to say "the perfect pair" because no one is perfect, but if there was, Kyle and Myla would be it. There is absolutely nothing I could say that would truly give this book justice. It is written to perfection, the sex is HOT but also sweet in parts, the suspense will keep you hanging on until the very end. I promise you will not regret giving this one a go. IT'S AMAZEBALLS!!!!!

Deep Under is sexy and suspenseful with a caring, protective alpha hero and a strong survivor for a heroine. Kyle saw the footage of Myla's death but ever since he hasn't let go of his hope that Myla is still alive, and he's bound and determined to find her. When he goes undercover in Alvarez's organization as a bodyguard, imagine his surprise when he finds Myla is the person whom he will be protecting.

As Kyle protects her, he falls for her and she becomes far more than just a job for him. But, can he trust that she's really a survivor of Alvarez's control and wants to escape? Or is she really Alvarez's woman as Alvarez insists? Soon Myla learns to trust Kyle with not just her life, but her heart, too. Their connection is deep and electric, and their intimate scenes are hot!

If you like your romance with doses of suspense and action, and steam enough to satisfy all of us smut lovers, Deep Under should just hit the spot!

Pretty mediocre. I didn't feel that the story or characters were well developed. . .feeling almost as though I had missed something. It dragged somewhat and I found myself wondering when this story was going to get off the ground. The ending was rushed and anticlimactic. Maybe I have read too many like this before. . .another instant love and very predictable.

Deep Under by Lisa Renee Jones was captivating and intense it keeps you on the end of your seat with all the suspense until the very last page. Klye and Myla together they are DY-NA-MITE! The chemistry is searing and explosive. Sex is plentiful – and both enjoy a down and dirty romp. But the bedroom scenes (or anywhere else these two choose) play second fiddle to the overall relationship that is powerful and moving, intimate and meaningful.

Deep Under is fast paced and suspenseful. I thought the premise behind the plot was very unique and I really liked the characters. I loved the way Kyle fell for Myla. How he knew who she really was even when she was unsure of who she was deep inside. I admired Myla for the sacrifices she made in order to make sure her sister was safe. I wish we got more of her back story with Alvarez as I feel like those times had a huge impact on who she was in the present. Overall though, I enjoyed the way this story unfolds. The way that even though Myla wasn't sure if she could trust the people surrounding her, she didn't let that fear get in the way of her finding not only herself but her freedom. I look forward to reading more of this series.

Deep Under is book one in the Walker Security series which is a spin off of the Tall, Dark and Deadly series. It can be read as a standalone but if you can read the books in the first series you will understand the character dynamics better.
Kyle never gave up on Myla and now that he has her under his protection he will do everything to keep her safe. Myla has shown her underlying strength by keeping herself alive even under circumstances she has no control over. The chemistry between these characters is hot and they make a great team as they find a way to stay safe and bring a dangerous man down.

Deep Under is the story of Kyle and Myla and was very intense.

I loved the suspense that was included throughout the book and all the twists. Myla was such a strong character even when her life had gone to shambles. She is a true survivor.

Kyle was definitely an alpha who knew what he wanted all along. He was tasked with finding Myla and even after he thought she was dead, kept looking for her. I loved how even as an alpha he knew when to step back and when to push Myla. Such an amazing couple!

. Loved this fourth installment of the Tall, Dark, and Deadly series. Myla and Kyle's story was great! Loved how the characters from both the Inside Out and Walker series were mentioned as well as Emma from an ongoing series was also mentioned. Loved the tie in! Loved how Kyle never doubted Myla was alive and his determination to find her and get her away from Alvarez. Myla is a strong woman who did what she had to to survive and still wanted to save her sister as well as the women being taken and forced into the sex trade. By the end of the book you can't help but fall in love with Kyle and see how he loved Myla before he even found out she was the one he was hired to be a bodyguard with In the end Alvarez got what he deserved and I love how the author told that part. You will have to read the book to see. I cannot wait to read about Asher and Jacob's stories next as well as parts 2 and 3 of Careless Whisper!

Myla has been 'living' with cartel boss Alvarez for over a year now. And now finally he’s allowed her to spread her wings a bit - to work on her clothing line in Dallas.
But not without the proper bodyguard - the best money can buy: Kyle!
Our Kyle is an ex federal agent and working with the Walker Security guys and girls. And also friends with Myla’s sister Kara, who’s been looking for Myla ever since she disappeared. Because that’s what happened. Myla didn’t willingly go with Alvarez. We just don’t know exactly what happened last year, only that Myla seems to be Alvarez’s woman now. But is she really? Or is she just playing the part, secretly plotting how to get away?
Kyle wants to find out. He’s been looking for Myla for months now - and he’s kind of fallen for her from afar.
But to act on those feelings would mean death for both of them. He has to get her out of there!

______________________________

I really enjoyed this story.
It wasn’t anything new - nothing that I haven’t read before as a fan of romantic suspense...but I liked it.
What I didn’t like was that I hadn’t read any of the Walker books before. That already bothered me while reading the Inside Out and Ella Spin-Off series. Because those Walkers are everywhere ☺☺
BUT - you don’t need to have read them to understand all the other books.

► DEEP UNDER was a really sexy & exciting romantic suspense story! You soo want Kyle & Myla to get their Happily Ever After ....

Deep Under is the first installment of the Walker Security series, the fourth installment of Tall, Dark & Deadly by Lisa Renee Jones. She’s also a new author to me.

Myla is beautiful and a woman who should be allowed to unfurl her wings up to the sky, but instead of doing just that, she’s held captive by cruel cartel boss Michael Alvarez. Shoved into the darkness where all she knows is pain. Pain from the mental and physical abuse. She no longer knows from right or wrong. However, she knows, that she must survive.

Kyle is an ex- FBI agent and he never stopped looking for Myla, but as he goes undercover to play for the bad guy’s…lines will be crossed. He just hopes they aren’t pass the point of no return.

Will he be able to gain Myla’s trust before it’s too late?

O.M.G. Lisa Renee Jones where have you been all my life! Deep Under is a spectacular story that will certainly grip you. The plot is filled with so much suspense that you can’t possibly read fast enough. With each page, I was always at the edge of my seat. The way Ms. Jones conducted Myla and Kyle characters is just…flawless. In addition the pace, suspense and chemistry was on point.

I would highly recommend reading Deep Under. Also, I look forward to reading more of the Walker Security series.

Kyle is going undercover as a bodyguard in the notorious Alvarez cartel. He and his team from Walker Security hope this will get them a step closer to finding Myla, the sister of Kara. A year ago she disappeared and they've feared her death ever since. What Kyle doesn't plan on is being the bodyguard to Myla and finding that she's stronger and smarter than they ever imagined. She seems to be Alvarez' women, but it may be an act, Kyle just has to figure out which man she is playing.

"'When are you going to tell me who you really are?'
'When you tell me who you really are.'"

Everything I loved about the Tall, Dark & Deadly series is found in Deep Under, only this time we're meeting one of Walker Security's employees. Kyle is the typical handsome, alpha male who happens to have a soft side for our heroine, Myla. Myla is, at first, sweet and innocent, determined to make her dreams come true. Over time we find she is really cunning, headstrong, and courageous. Both characters are likeable, the kind you root for from the very start, so it was easy to get sucked into the story. Deep Under is written in a way that immediately puts you into the shoes of each character, we feel Kyle's obsession for Myla and we immediately know her distrust, but also know her need for help. They have amazing dialogue, insane chemistry, and of course, a shared threat of being underneath Alvarez' watchful eye.

"We're fire, sweetheart. We both know it."

I really enjoyed the storyline in Deep Under, it has a much faster pace than the Tall, Dark & Deadly series had, with LRJ writing a complete story in one book. It's action packed, suspenseful, sexy, and has a true beginning and end. It also featured LRJ's standout voice, her tone of writing is so different than others and is definitely why she is one of my favorites. Deep Under features LRJ's complex and detailed writing, allowing readers to really get in on the action, to picture the scene completely. There's twists and turns and ends with a promise of something more.

"He's close to me. I'm goign to let him get closer."

If you haven't jumped into Deep Under, book one in the Walker Security series, you're missing out. It's the perfect series tie in to Tall, Dark & Deadly, only this time I might be even more in love with the characters. Even if you haven't read Tall, Dark & Deadly, if you're a fan of romance with a ton of suspense, this is the series for you. Lisa Renee Jones has such a standout voice in the Romantic Suspense drama and she really engages you from start to finish. Plus, like all LRJ books, Deep Under has just the right amount of sexy. Add this one to your pile, everyone!

Deep Under is the first Book of the Walker Security series. This is a spinoff of Ms. Jones's Tall, Dark and Deadly series. This book takes place a year after Beneath the Secrets ends. Kyle, ex-FBI and Walker Security agent, has been searching for a way to enter the Alvarez cartel and find Myla, Kara's sister. As luck has it, he has been hired to be the bodyguard of the woman he has been obsessed with, Myla. Now Kyle needs to make sure that Kara doesn't come in "guns a'blazing" and ruin the chance to shut down the human sex trafficking ring of this very powerful cartel plus save Myla too. Myla's dream of being a fashion designer and opening a boutique is being bastardized by Michael Alvarez who wants it to be a money laundering tool. Myla has survived being Alvarez's woman in an effort to keep her sister safe. Her strength to endure the things that he has done to her and still keep herself strong is admirable. Kyle and Myla's attraction is intense. Trust issues, inner cartel power struggles, implicit threats, and strong family ties makes for a very enjoyable read. I love how strong Myla is. Kyle is the kind of hero I love. A protector. Someone who you can feel safe with. It gets my highest rating. Five Stars!

Lisa Renee Jones' Tall, Dark, and Deadly series has been a favorite of mine since the beginning. After waiting for this book for over 2 years, I expected so much more. It was a good book, but nothing like I have come to expect from Mrs. Jones or this series.

This had a great storyline, all the characters that I have come to love, drama, some action and intense situations, as well as a few twists that were a surprise. Overall it was a good book. The attraction between Kyle and Myla seemed to be more about lust and obsession than actual chemistry or true feelings. He was so desperate to find her, and she was so desperate for an escape from the horrific life she's been forced to live. There was so much talk of the pending dangers that it became repetitive. With the plot revolving around the leader of the cartel, it seemed like there should have been more interactions involving him or his men besides a couple of situations or phone calls. The story was mostly about Kyle and Myla building trust and their attractions. After all of the build up to the ending, it seemed rushed and definitely not what I expected.

These are only my opinions and obviously not the same as others, which is exactly how it should be. Everyone has a different way of thinking, and that goes for the stories they read as well. By no means am I saying that this was not a good book. It was good, but I just expected more. Too much? Maybe. But again, it is just my opinion. I will continue to read this series, as well as other books by this author.

I have read almost all of Mrs. Jones' books and she is an exceptional author. Her stories are unique, creative, and always keep you coming back for more. She creates characters who are strong, independent, intelligent, fierce, down to earth, and have damaged pasts or flaws, which make them easy to love and relate to. Her books are one of a kind and are truly fantastic!

If you haven't read this series, I suggest that you start from the beginning. You will get amazing stories, lesrn about each couple, the Walker brothers, and the pseudo family they've created. You won't be disappointed! I recommend this book, series, and author.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

4.5 stars---DEEP UNDER is the first installment in Lisa Renee Jones’s adult, contemporary Walker Security romantic suspense series- a spin off from her Tall, Dark and Deadly series. This is Walker Security specialist and former FBI agent Kyle, and missing fashion designer Myla’s story line. DEEP UNDER continues a story line that began in Lisa’s BENEATH THE SECRETS serial, and runs parallel to some of the events in Lisa’s CARELESS WHISPERS series (wherein the Walker Brothers have been hired to locate another missing person) –a spin off from her best selling Inside Out series. DEEP UNDER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person points of view (Kyle and Myla) DEEP UNDER follows the search for Myla- Kara’s sister (Beneath the Secrets) and a woman who has been missing and presumed dead for fourteen months. Kyle is a former FBI agent, now working for his best friend Blake Walker at Walker Security, and a man who believes that Myla is very much alive. Kyle is desperate to get inside the Alvarez cartel and search for the woman whose last video camera image revealed determination and fear. What ensues is Kyle’s infiltration of the cartel as Myla’s personal bodyguard, and the take down of a man and his organization that has claimed too many lives, for too many years.

DEEP UNDER is an exciting story of suspense; a tale about missing women, the illegal sex trade, and a powerful cartel kingpin whose deadly rule is never to be questioned. Lisa Renee Jones writes a fascinating story with an impassioned hero, and a determined heroine where family is targeted in a game of betrayal and revenge. The premise is captivating and intense; the characters are passionate and animated; the romance is intimate and moving. Lisa Renee Jones adds another exciting and sexy dimension to her Tall, Dark and Deadly romantic suspense series.

First of the Walker security series, Deep Under introduces us the world of the Walkers for the ones who haven’t read Lisa Renee Jones’ Books.
Alpha and bad ass guys risking their lives to save people and going undercover. Don’t be fooled, the women aren’t damsel in distress, they’re strong, hot tempered and definitely the kind of ones to knock out these men.

Kyle was on mission, for a long time he was looking for someone and didn’t expect to find that person in the most unexpected places.
Myla was a prisoner, protecting her sister by choice, hiding. When Kyle was hired as her bodyguard, her world turned upside down. Being locked, always someone to watch her, winning her trust wasn’t easy. Abused, hurt, she was losing hope to get away. Until him. Someone who would protect her no matter what.

So I won’t tell you more about the story, of course there was definitely some sexual tension in the air, a bit of darkness, alpha heroes and badass heroines.

The hint of mystery and suspense was almost on point, this story about this bodyguard who was willing to give his life to save this captive woman, when you could feel how fractured or damaged these characters would be. Seeing their flaws, falling in love in spite of the odds. I wished more development towards the end, after all the tension, ticking like a bomb reading to explode, it was too short to me. I wanted more and something less “easy”.

Overall, it was a good start to meet the Walker security team.

Deep Under is the newest novel in the Walker Brothers Saga. I love this series with these scrumptious Walker men and their friends. They are all alpha men, driven to protect both loved ones and innocent bystanders.

In this installment of the series, Kyle is sent in DEEP UNDERcover to try and find Myla who is presumed dead. From their first encounter, Kyle was struck with the need to protect and save her from the drug lord that had kidnapped her. Finding her alive, but still a captive of this man, he is in the unique situation of being hired as her bodyguard to protect her... not from the drug lord, but from "his enemies"

This book is a puzzle. The kind you get at the store with 100 pieces and no picture of what it is going to look like in the end. As you read this story, you start to put the pieces together and picture in your mind what may happen next. This is Lisa Renee Jones at her best and a mystery and suspense writer with a strong dose of erotic passion. Nothing is at it seems, anyone could be the bad guy, and Myla is the prize that must be protected. Great book!

I'm developing this love/hate relationship with Lisa Renee Jones. I fell in love with one of her series and had high expectations ever since. What I hate is how every series I have read since I have felt very middle of the road about them. They start out great and then a few books in I'm feeling just meh. This is exactly how I felt with Deep Under.

Myla has been captive to drug lord Alvarez. Well, actually she's been in a 'relationship' with said drug lord because he has threatened her sister's life and he captures women and forces them to be sex slaves. To save herself and protect her sister, plus trying to find a way to help the captured women, is the reason why she's with him. Kyle workers for the Walker brothers and has never believed Myla was dead. On the chance Myla may be in the cartel, Kyle agrees to go undercover, playing bodyguard hoping to find word about Myla never expecting the person he's protecting is Myla. Now he has to determine if she's there be choice or by force before he can return her to her family.

Hmmm...what can I say. Deep Under worked and didn't work for me. I liked Kyle and Myla. She's a fairly tough cookie having survived in the situation that she's in. Kyle is persistent looking for Myla and keeping hope alive. Most of their interactions I enjoyed, and of course the sex scenes were steamy. My problem is the flow of it all. The story dragged while the relationship happened too quickly. I get Kyle’s side to it. He’s been obsessing about her ever since he saw the footage. Where everybody else thought she was dead, he felt she was alive. So really I understand his point of view but Myla has been doing what she can to survive in this brutal world she’s forced into and yet she throws all caution to the wind and WHAM, they’re an item? That I have a hard time believing.

Fans of LRJ will more than likely enjoy this book. It ties in with several of the author’s other series, which at times was a bit confusing. There are references to things that have happened that, if you haven’t read the other series, may not make sense. I’ve been reading Careless Whispers so I know who Ella is, but readers who haven’t may not get the importance. Still, Deep Under works fine as a stand-alone. However, if you want to read it as part of a series you can enjoy it either as book #1 in the Walker Security series or as book #4 in the Tall, Dark and Deadly series.

I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine.

Beginning: The beginning was predictable, but still enjoyable. I also enjoyed how there weren't any points that had a bunch of information dumped on the reader. The beginning gave me many questions that I was dying to know the answers to. I was on the edge of my seat. The beginning was also the perfect introduction to the book. It got right to the point and I loved that.

Characters: Myla is captive by a drug lord. She is his. And most believe she is dead, but that doesn't stop Myla from doing everything she can to survive. Survival is something she is good at. Myla isn't surviving for herself, she is surviving to save the innocent girls caught in the drug lord's game. In comes Kyle, the guy who is supposed to protect Myla at all costs. Kyle is supposed to be working for the drug lord, but instead he has his own agenda. Why? Because although Myla doesn't know Kyle, Kyle knows exactly who Myla is.

Plot: The plot kept me on the edge of my seat. Jones always fills her novels with suspense and I expected nothing less. The beginning was a tad predictable but after that I had no idea what was coming. The characters really brought the plot to life. And I am very very very very happy with how it concluded.

Romance: The romance is between Myla and her bodyguard Kyle. No there wasn't insta-love but a little bit of insta-lust. They felt a connection of some sort, but they definitely didn't act on it quickly because of the danger it could put them both in. Kyle had to protect Myla because of his job but it was clear that he did it because he had feelings for her. I wasn't sure if there would be a HEA, I wanted one, and luckily it did happen. There was a conclusion to their romance and it was the best possible one.

Ending: The ending was just... perfect. I didn't realize this was a series of standalones prior to reading this book so I thought it would end with a major cliffhanger like all of Jones' other books, but nope! The ending was everything that I could've ever wanted. All lose ends were tied up nicely and I have zero complaints about the ending. It made me SO happy! SO SO SO happy!

Final Thoughts: Deep Under was absolutely captivating. Lisa Renee Jones has a way with words that just pulls you in and makes you beg for more. She is truly gifted and all of her novels are too. She is one of those authors that I will read anything she writes!

I have very mixed emotions about this book.

First, the characters are interesting and I was involved in their struggles. I do think they trusted each other too easily, and I question their lack of caution while deeply undercover, but I did enjoy the story. I'd give it close to four stars.

However - and it is a big however! - the editing was terrible. Seldom did five words go by without a comma, and that was very distracting. Several times I had to stop and reread sentences several times to figure out what was actually happening. Misuse of me/I was another issue, although much less distracting than the comma issue. I'd give the editing two or three stars.

If you don't mind the lack of editing, you'll probably enjoy the story.

Refusing to believe that Myla is dead, Kyle has made it his life's mission to find her no matter the cost. A retired FBI agent, he's often done things he's not too proud of. This time, though, he's getting himself into something he knows he can't walk away from. He's intent on bringing Myla home in one piece, and will do everything possible to make sure that happens and then some.

While I've come into this series via this fourth book, I must say that the story hooked me in from the moment I started reading. Lisa has created such complex characters that you find yourself wanting to know more about them with every turn of the page. We also get to see glimpses of other characters from other books she's written. That's how big this world she's working on is.

I truly found it delightful to see how much Lisa cares about her characters. The fact that we glean tidbits from her other stories also tidies up several loose ends. If you haven't read any of her other books, you'll definitely want to. Granted, this story, while part of a series, also acts as a standalone novel. You don't get lost in the little details, as Lisa provides just enough information from past stories to move the book along. That's how good a storyteller she is. So can't wait to read more of this series.

I really love to read her Tall, Dark and Dangerous series. Still behind, but trying to catch up. If you like drama and some little bit of mystery. And of course romance. This is the book for you or rather the series for you to read!!!

Pretty good story and characters. There was a lot of build up and then it is over a little too fast for me. Still I liked the way it all played out. Loved Kyle and Myla. More romantic suspense then erotica. Worth reading.

It was alright, I don't regret reading this book, and I was excited after reading the reviews. Now that I've finished it, all I can say is that it's predictable, cliche, and ends too perfectly. A lot of typos as well.
Please RateDeep Under: a standalone Walker Security Novel
