The Pursuit of Holiness

This book thoroughly explains the topic of holiness and why it matters to God. He also gives excellent reasons through the Bible as to why people struggle with sin after they've accepted Christ and what can be done about it.

The author backs up all his statements and explanations with scripture upon scripture. He is not flowery or emotional but explains a complicated subject in such a way that anyone can understand. Reading this book motivates you to not just like the author but to love Jesus in word and deed. Every Christian should read this book.

The top reviews say it all. This book is reasonably short, a pleasure to read, and deeply challenging. I may read it several times in a row; I can tell already it's a book you get something new out of every time.

This is a classic book. Jerry Bridges is 100% "dialed-in" on the aspect of holiness in our lives. God has expectations for our lives, namely striving to do His will. Mr. Bridges has captured the spirit and intent of what we are told in the Bible. If you desire to grow spiritually, consider reading - no STUDYING, this book.

Thought provoking and challenging,Jerry Bridges provides both an expositionally sound work with practical insight into our our walk with God. I have read many fine books on the subject of holiness but this is , by far, the best for a broad spectrum of readers. True to form with navigators material, this is very user friendly for group Bible study material.

Jerry Bridges is one of my favorite authors. The Joy of Fearing God and The Discipline of Grace are two of my favorite books. The Pursuit of Holiness is taking me into deep waters as I learn what it means to be Holy. My desire is to live a life that shows Christ as my greatest treasure. This book is leading me deeper into that walk.

This is one of my all-time favorite Christian books. I LOVE Jerry Bridges! Transforming Grace by Bridges is my other favorite. He is incredibly gifted with writing. He is easy to understand but his works are also deep and incredibly convicting. This book was so helpful to me in my spiritual walk and really allowed me to understand my role in sanctificaiton/holiness and God's role. Highly recommend!

Every disciple of a Jesus should read this book. It provides some plain easy to understand (something's hard to do) guidelines To fulfilling the Christian life. A small testimony of how this book helped me clear some things up in my mind. I struggled with a verse of scripture: Matt 7:21-23. "Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord is going to heaven". The verse goes on to describe these people. Those who have prophesied, cast out demons, and done many miracles in the name of Jesus. Jesus said he never knew them. That description could cover a lot of "Christians". Me too! I needed to know how to make sure that would not be me. This book helps clear the path. The author explains we (I) have some responsibility for my own salvation and holiness. Finally Jerry Bridges does a good job of taking the legalistic stigma off of what HOLINESS means. Thank you Mr Bridges.

I purchased this book for my husband, and he thoroughly appreciates it. He has several of Jerry Bridges books and was eager to have this one. Tho it's not a newly published book, it promotes values that are timeless, and are the true essence of a Christian life.
