If you like Stuart Woods' style of writing then this is a great read for you. This murder mystery is set in both Atlanta and Cumberland Island a barrier island off the coast of Georgia. It's a fast gripping read.

Twins

The book took an interesting concept, identical twins, and expanded into the nature of their individual differences, or lack of them. Then it considered the nature of the very strong bon d between the twins and how that affected their actions.
The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis by Timothy Egan (1-Aug-2013) Paperback :: Worst Fears Realized (Stone Barrington Book 5) :: The Ultimate Guide to Espionage - and Cocktails Ever Written :: Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success :: The Children's Blizzard

I've deecided to quit reading Stuart Woods. I love his books/characters but the Stone Barrington series has become more about Stone's sex life than a good mudrer mystery. Additionally, I read for a bit of an escape not for political conversion.

Very interesting book. Elizabeth Barwick moved in with the Drummonds almost instantly. I never did feel like I knew her which I expect from a well developed character. The author's character development is one of his great talents & the other characters are good or bad, as expected. It just seemed to me that Liz was almost a ghost in that family & one on that island. Mr. Drummond fell for her & I couldn't tell how he knew her so well. She was always good & always personable, but her existence was a puzzle to me. I read a lot of the other reviews & noticed that no one that I read had had any problem with her, so it is just me & I didn't get it! It was a very good book. Mr. Woods books move together so smoothly. I don't usually read books about actors, etc. but the Rick Barron books were great to me & all of the Will Lee books were wonderful. I so wish that he had written at least half of the Stone Barrington books about someone else. The ones I read were okay but I got tired of them. I think I will try some of them again all these years later. Maybe they will give me more entertainment than they eventually did when I read them before.

Good, fast read. Nicely entertaining. Book quality is 4 stars, but there were dozens of formatting errors - so 3 stars.

I constantly and exclusively read the store Kindle books, mostly borrowed from the library. This is the first Kindle book that had formatting errors involving one paragraph having the dialog of two people. The rule is that each speaker starts a paragraph, but not this book. In almost all cases, the wording clarified the speaker, but not always.

Here is one example out of hundreds:
“I’m happy to have Bob hear what we say to each other,” Ramsey said, speaking for the first time. He seemed cool, relaxed, unworried. “As you wish,” Williams said, sitting down. “Mr. Ramsey—”

I think the store can do better than this with the Kindle version of the book. I'll check with the Library to see if the hard copy has the same errors.

I am very disappointed with this book. It has the potential to be a good read, but the characters and how the plot was executed is so unbeleivable. I thought since it was written by Stuart Woods it would have been somewhat engaging...it's not.
I was annoyed and angry because I feel that the author took the easy road with how easily Ramsey got away with multiple murders and how dumb Lee Williams was even after he supposedly KNEW how crafty Ramsey was (this is where I just gave up). I finished the book ONLY because I had wasted so much time already).
The twin, who was Liz's love interest ran around in a loin cloth (what the crap???) and never stayed still long enough (after sex with Liz he usually left) for me to connect with him.
And please explain to me why the two african americans who lived on the island were still living in "slave quarters" and why young James Moses/Drummond was uneducated? I was so insulted...at one point a doctor who had come to call on old Angus referred to James as "the colored boy"!
This book has the make-up of a romantic fiction piece.
I was very disappointed because it started off ok. I was excited for Liz taking a stand and seeking help to get away from her abusive husband (Ramsey). It seems as if she will get a fresh start when she leaves for an isolated island reteat, but it goes downhill from there...

Liz, a photographer, leaves what apparently was an abusive marriage and disappears to start a new life. Luckily she has a good divorce attorney who gets more from her husband in the divorce settlement than shed expected. With her new found freedom, she heads off to an island where she meets some interesting people who help her settle comfortably into her new life. She happens to meet a man that shes very attracted to. Lucky for her, the feeling is mutual even if he appears to be a little odd. Life seems sweet until the one-by-one, the people she left behind in her old life start turning up dead. After the first death, she suspects her husband, but shes got to convince the police that hes doing the murders. Not only that, she begins to fear for her life. While struggling with these new-found fears, she realizes that her new man friend is a little different. She cant figure him out, but she knows that shes definitely attracted to him and she wants to hang in there with him. At the same time, the detective shed talked to about her husband is beginning to believe that just maybe, shes right. He begins an investigation into her ex-husband that could cost him his life.
This was a pretty good book. The story starts off with enough drama to grab your attention, and for the most part, continues on in that same vein. Theres always something going on whether its the threat of a murder, the discovery of a mystery that needs to be solved, or just the unfolding events of new relationships either way, the book has something to hold your interest. The detective work is pretty good and interesting as well. While I didnt totally buy-in to the motives for ALL of the killings, I still found the story to be a worthwhile read. If you want suspense, drama, murder and some good detective work, youll find it all here. You'll also find a surprise at the end.

Although I love Stuart Wood's Stone Barrington novels, I must admit that once in awhile I like to read his other books that are based on different characters. This book was one of the fastest, most thrilling books I have read in a long time.

It focuses on Liz who is nearly beaten and raped to death by her husband who happens to be a famous football player who is drugged out on steroid and drugs. This books gives a creepy description of what steroids can do to an average person. Anyways, Liz escapes to Cumberland Island in order to get away from her vengeful ex-husband. On this island she gets involved with the Drummond family who have a few skeletons in their closet. As if that is not enough, Liz's husband is on the rampage looking for her to kill her. Will he find her? What is the secret between the Drummond twins, Hamish and Keir? Read this book and you will find out.

In Palindrome, Liz Barwick is married to a professional football player, named Bake Ramsey, who has beaten her for years. After an awful beating that sends Liz to the emergency room, she decides to leave her husband. She tries to find a place where Bake will never be able to find her, but after several gruesome murders, he is able to track her down.
Palindrome is an excellent piece of escape fiction by Stuart Woods. This exciting novel pulls the reader in with a fast-paced story that includes murder, mystery, and love. Stuart Woods provides the reader with sufficient information to keep the story interesting while still leaving the reader wanting to know more. This novel does not contain any profound thoughts on life's problems, but if you are looking for an exciting story, this is a good book to read.

Excellent writing. I’ve read many Stuart Woods’ books and much prefer his earlier writing such as this book. The Stone Barrington books are entertaining but kind of repitious. Being a native of Atlanta , GA I could really relate to Palindrome and it’s settings. Very enjoyable read.

Put away any thoughts about getting anything done when you start this book. It starts off running and pulls you along until the very end.
It leaves you exhausted, and wanting more all at the same time.

In my opinion, still Stuart Woods' best work! Palindrome is an edge-of-your-seat, stay-up-till-4 a.m.-to-finish book. Woods does an excellent job of integrating the characters and plot with the physical setting to make a truly unique story. In fact, it is one of the most original suspense stories I have ever read. There are absolutely no lulls in this story. You will find yourself mezmerized from page one and unable to look away until you reach the conclusion. This book is much better than his newer releases (with the exception of Orchid Beach) Other great Stuart Woods works: Deep Lie, New York Dead, Chiefs, and Orchid Beach.

If you ever thought about reading a novel written by Stuart Woods and could only pick one, this is it. This was a great suspenseful, romantic and exciting book to read. The story is wonderfully crafted and I had a hard time putting it down. It is about Liz Barwick who has run away from an abusive marriage to a football star Bake Ramsey and is hiding for fear that he is coming after her to kill her. This is an amazing book and I would recommend it to anyone.
