Short and sexy! That sums this one up. I want more please!

I read this and was intrigued, captivated and left feeling unsettled.
What is going on? What is David about? Something does not sit well with me and I am determined and NEED to know.

"You're beautiful," He says, before pulling me closer as he turns to his side. "You're so damn beautiful."

Sophie Bennett, orphan and raised by her awful Aunt. She is going to be just like her mother you know. Worthless- and end up pregnant!
Sophie seems so sad and lost - she needs and desires love. Will she find it? Her sweetness and innocence are what make me fear for her. She is so unaware and naive.
It's like putting a guppy in shark infested waters.

David Preston, handsome and mysterious!
He is older, wiser and well simply stunning. He literally sweeps her off her feet. (The feet are not clad in Jimmy Choo either. This darling is out of her league I feel!) I feel like David can and will chew her up and spit out the pieces.

Life happens and HOLY hell I did not see it moving in this direction. Wow!
Let us just say hold on, buckle up and pray. I am wondering what the heck and how? Why? Really and omg what happens next. It is just ugh.. Really?
Why is David like this, why does everyone seem to know him? Plus add the encounter with her next door neighbor. I cannot tell you much without giving it away.. But yes we have more story here. We are giving just enough to make you end up here.

I am worried for our sweet Sophie. I need answers on David.. I need the next book please and thank you!
I cannot wait to see where the author goes with this one.

This author has just earned herself a new stalker. This short novella was just enough to make me NEED to know more about Sophie and David. According to Sinfully Sexy Book Review's blog, a second book, entitled Rebellion is planned.

Sophie was orphaned at birth and left to be raised by her not so caring aunt. That will probably lead to some relationship issues and can explain why she was jumped so quickly into a relationship with David, a man who she barely knows.

This is the first book released by this author. I expect there to be some great books to follow.

Nothing says hot like a gorgeous guy who comes smashing into your world and takes you away from your life of drudgery. In Awakening, David does just that for Sophie without really ever knowing the full extend of her situation. This type thing just leads romance book reviewers like me from one book to the next so effortlessly!

Awakening is a quick read that leaves you caught up in it's grip. This short story begins with a flashback into the life of Sophie Bennett. We are privy to the `loveless' upbringing she experienced as a child. After her mother dies in childbirth - Sophie goes to live with her aunt. Everyday she is `reminded' how her life will never be more than becoming `just like her mother'.

Fast forward to the present - Sophie works in a local shop for the wife of the lawyer that handled her late aunts estate. After returning from boarding school, Sophie is just getting by in the tiny little town of her youth. That was until David Preston walks in the door. The sexy business man asks her to dinner, with the promise of so much more. Sophie is drawn to this mystery man right from the start. What will become of this chance encounter?

This short story left me wanting more. There is definitely more to this story that I want to delve into right away. Typically, I don't like short stories. However, I found myself totally `sucked' into this one. Shame on you Serena Grey for grabbing my attention with these characters and making me `sit on my hands' for the next installment!! Now - what's in store for Sophie and David??

The Review:
Awakening starts out with our heroine, Sophie, at work, doing little more than dusting a shelf. Her life has recently been uprooted as the neglectful and overbearing aunt who raised her after her mom died, has now passed away, leaving her with very little. She's set to get out of town for better work and school opportunities when a dangerously handsome man literally screeches to a halt in front of her.

In walks the mysterious David Preston who can't take his eyes off Sophie.

She can tell right away there's something daring and intriguing behind those dark looks and when he asks her for a date, she can't help but say yes.

This little 39 pages of awesomeness was sultry, seductive, sexy and Ohh.Emm.Gee. HOT!

Was it exciting? Yes!
Was it steamy and did it get my heart racing just a little? DEFINITELY!
Do I want to know what happens next? HECK YEAH!

Sign me up for book two. With that little cliffy, I want to see where this story is going because all is not right in David's world and I'm afraid things are just heating up!

Just Wow!!!! 4.5 happy dancing stars!!!!

Talk about a whirlwind romance. Serena Grey you naughty woman!!!! You had me slacked jaw through most of the book. I had this constant *no way... *no she didn't *wait... yes she did thoughts while reading Awakening.

I am going to try my hardest to not give any spoilers because EVERYONE should read this book.

You have Sophie shes a sweet although very sheltered 18 year old girl. Though at times I felt she should have stop to think about her actions, I feel the author is portraying young Sophie to be a girl who finally decided to live life her way and not let anyone stop her. So far there's a HEA... BUUUUTTTTT..... I just know based on the speed and process of this book that there are some storms brewing in the background.

Now Mr. Dark, Sexy, and dare I say dangerous?... David Preston: He's a man who always gets what he wants and people (not Sophie) obviously know something about him, that has yet to be told to us (the readers) and Sophie of course. I am wondering about his intentions with our little Sophie... He's 9 yrs older than her and even knowing that she was inexperienced and just beginning her adulthood he still pursues her very quickly... From the title of this book I am very intrigued as to what David does/ who he is.

Overall I gave this book 4.5 stars because I couldn't put it down and wished it never ended. I would of given it 5 stars but It was just to good to be this short... Now I do enjoy quick reads but this book is so GOOD that I never wanted to stop. You will be left with questions of why? on a few topics and you'll notice not a lot of details are released yet within the book.. but you know what??? IT makes you want the next book that much more... So Ms. Serena Grey, Thank you, For now I am clutching my kindle... waiting (not patiently)... for the next book... AND there's not even a major cliffhanger, well I guess there is but they technically had a HEA but I know it can't be that simple.

So not to sound like a spoiled child throwing a tantrum but... I WANT I WANT I WANT... the next book already.... Please, Pretty Please, with gum drops and gummy bears... lol

You'll want to read this book, you'll want to throw it, you may not believe in such things, but this has great potential just keep a very open mind and remember that this is a series...

3.5 stars -- I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was torn with this one. It started off fabulously, and it definitely had all the right elements of steam (HOT). And I knew it was a shorter story, but what I didn't realize is that it appears to be a serial. So when I was reading it, it seemed to be going in one direction and then SCREECH! make a little twist that was unbelievable. If there hadn't been the book 2 teaser included, I think I would have been more disappointed...but it appears that there is more going on than just the straightforward. So go into this one knowing that it is a continuing story, and I think you won't be as initially confused and disappointed as I was. Definitely has potential for something good, will be interested to see where it goes.

The Awakening is the prequel to Rebellion (A Dangerous Man 2). It is short but leaves you begging for more. The beginning starts with an introduction and background of the main female character, Sophie. It was a little slow but I could see the author was laying a foundation for this character. Then walks in David, oh my. I am dying to know his story and at the end of the Awakening I am rushing to start Rebellion to find out more.
