PERFECT.

Came in the mail very quickly, and in EXCELLENT condition. Yes, it's huge. But that is to be expected with the amount of information in it. Giving it to my boyfriend for a christmas present. It's a must have for any law student! :) Highly recommend.

Currently litigating Divorce and Custody w/ psycho husband Pro se. This book is AMAZING!!! Might go to law school as soon as this craziness is over. Regardless I foresee using this reference material for many years to come.

For an $70+ book, the binding could be stronger. I just received it, opened it twice, and the binding has already separated from the book. Not to mention (and this should be expected for most law books) it's absurdly large and heavy.

I've been able to Google a majority of the terms I've read thus far that I didn't know, or were in Latin, so this book may find it's way to a return box.

Good to get one to have a better understanding of the language that appears to be English but in fact is legalese. Interesting. Four stars because the latest definitions are not as defined the same as the 1,2,3,4 editions

To the people calling the title of this book racist, a man by the name of Henry Campbell Black founded it in the 1800s. Not everything is about race so get over yourselves! This book is great and helps define any legal word/term you're unfamiliar with. Definitely a good buy for students and professionals.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, learn american history and you will find out it's a DEATH CULT!
((( NONE OF THEM HAVE A LICENSE TO PRACTICE "LAW".)))
All this does is show you has they TWIST words to mean something other than LAYMAN TERMS.

This book is good but it's quite racist sounding. I deal mostly with inner city disadvantaged clients and a few of them have seen this on my shelf and have gotten very agitated, which is a real pain because I have to explain to them that its not the law for black people. I have since turned it around on my shelf to avoid such confrontations. Perhaps they could change the name going forward, it's just not appropriate any longer in todays world.

We need to work together to get this title changed. Like some other people I have clients who read this title and get very offended. I ended up just turning the book around. It's too distracting and my group of clients don't understand the apostrophe. That sounds terrible but it's not worth my time explaining this almost every week. The publisher should be more sensitive to a group that makes up over 12% of our country.

Like some of the other reviewers here I too think that the title should be changed given the current state of race relations in our country. I am a proud African American male and a Lawyer, the first in my family to finish high school as a matter of fact. When I brought this home and my family saw it they were shocked. They asked me why there was a book of laws just for black people. I explained to them that it was actually the authors name but they continued to scream and yell about the title. My father burned this book in his furnace that night and I had to purchase a new one. Luckily I'm a prime member and received it in two days. Honestly I know my father did this in a fit of rage, because he cannot read and he just overheard other people talking about the "jim crow book" that I brought home that night. I forgave him for burning the book but incidents like this, and the visceral reaction from the black community when they see this book is inexcusable. On the 50th anniversary of Selma, you would think the white publishers would be a little more sensitive to our community and the struggle. I live and work in Portsmouth, NH and its a very white town, most of my clients are black because I'm black and that makes them feel comfortable. When they enter into my firm's office and see this racist sounding book on the shelf they always begin to hoot and holler and cause a ruckus in the waiting room. I wish the publisher would just remove the word "Black" from the title to avoid confusion in the black community. It's time for a change. #blacklivesmatter #handsupdontshoot

The title on this book should be changed. People find it offensive. I'm white but I work with a number of blacks in a law firm and because of the title they do not display it on their shelves. The title should be changed, its 2016 for petes sake!

Racist title, after what has happened this year you think the publisher would be aware of how racist this title reads. I want to start an online petition to get the title changed. I know it's the authors name but most people don't know that, its TIME FOR A CHANGE!

I have to agree with the other reviewer who takes issue with the title of this dictionary. I do a lot of pro bono work at the local legal aid clinic and we have a few copies of Blacks on our shelves and in the waiting area. Some clients have asked me about this book and why we have jim crow era literature on our shelves and I have to go through my spiel about how it's not actually the laws for black people. They seem to understand but I think they are still skeptical. I just don't want all of the clients at the clinic to think we are racially biased or anything a long those lines. I too wish that the publisher would change the title to B's Law Dictionary or something like that. All of the copies have since been removed from our shelves, especially in public areas where people could take offense. I'm not trying to go after the first amendment here, I just think that with a black president and all that happened with Trayvon Martin people would be more sensitive to the plight of blacks. We are a progressive nation and it's about time everyone realized that, especially the publisher of this title. This is coming from someone who went to a top ten law school. I hope they read this review.

the store has brought me another great bargain! The Tenth Edition of the BLACK'S LAW DICTIONARY is the most current edition available for consumer purchase, and, as such, is the most complete legal book I own. I will continue to favor the store for future such legal books purchases, as well as their many other fairly-priced items in their total inventory.
