good book for mainly female retirees who want ideas about what to do... not bad book for almost anyone of any age who also wants ideas for what to do for hobbies, etc. its not a humorous book as I thought but more of a guide to what to do with your time.

I consider “101 Fun Things to do in Retirement” to be an absolute must read for anyone currently near or already in retirement age. The author touches on so many different activities to do that I’m sure literally any kind of person can find something that’s just right for them.
What I admire most about this book is that it’s expressed through a very light-hearted and humorous manner that truly keeps it entertaining essentially from front to back. Author Stella Rheingold shows readers that your age doesn’t have to define your lifestyle and the world of retirement has many creative opportunities and when it comes to having ideas for fun things to do, the sky is the limit. I highly recommend it.

Bought this based on 4+ stars the store reviews, and it is WORTHLESS for anyone that already has a life, just starting retirement. Scanned through the whole book in 10 minutes. All the ideas are common and routine, with filler information to make a book thick enough to sell.
Run a way as fast as your can from this one.

I should have read the reviews and description more closely... This was a complete waste of time and money. It has nothing to do with retirement - it's a list of activities. For example: - Get online - Write an app or computer program - Hang out with your grandkids - See the world. It strikes me as someone that sat down and decided to make a list, with no though given to costs, skills, or physical abilities. Not even remotely useful.

A very quick read indeed. Very high level suggestions and low on substance. Mostly obvious ideas with just a few URL's for on line reference. The five page table of contents is virtually the whole book. Not that funny either. Not recommended.

I nearly splurged my drink everywhere reading this. Stella has a hilarious take on the 'best' years of our lives....fearless and imaginative. I don't think I am going to try them all, but it is a shot in the arm for any of us who have greeted this time of our lives with a mild dread. Highly recommended for any of us who take ourselves too seriously; in fact, just highly recommended.

This book is charmingly indie -- occasional typos and all! I loved Stella Reingold's casual, friendly voice throughout. The ideas are brief and generously flavored with the author's viewpoints, but a nice collection nonetheless. Particularly helpful is the list of resource websites at the back (just in case your retiree wants to ACTUALLY do something!). It's fun, it'll make you giggle, and the price is right. A nice little retirement gift for the lucky post-work-life person you know!

I love the concept, but the execution left me unimpressed. Firstly there were numerous grammatical errors (right in the introduction even) and that turns me off immediately. The spelling and idioms were quirky but I understand the differences in American and British vernacular…but I don’t pardon actual errors in grammar (the editor should be fired). I also think the author was trying too hard to be sarcastically witty and it came out a bit foolish. For me, even humor-based books should be done smartly and professionally. "Caveat emptor".

My husband was given this as a retirement gift by a colleague whom we think was re-gifting it. She had hated retirement and returned to work, possibly because she had been given this book! The author came up with the best idea for something to do in retirement. "Make money from old rope" as the old English saying goes. The ideas are feeble, the page numbers aren't even correct for the index of subjects. This book was definitely put together on a home computer and never edited. The ideas are far from original and don't give any useful information at all. They are all throwaway ideas.
This is a throwaway book.

The author covers 3 potential areas of interest a person may want to pursue upon retirement. They are art, music, and literature. There are many (as the title says, over a 100) positive and fun ideas in each of the areas. Some of them I would not have thought of myself. Actually, these are fun ideas for any age not just retirement. The ideas are presented in an entertaining and humorous fashion. The author adds wacky and interesting pictures too. I was particularly intrigued by the suggestion found in “Move Over Ted Turner” (I won’t give it away). The book is clearly written too. All-in-all, this is a good resource for fun ideas for any age but especially for retirement. Recommended.

The book is engaging and humorous. Her writing will inspire and leave you laughing out loud at the same time. What other works can include references to cross dressing, chocolate covered ants and poetry busking all in one book? Her description of book clubs is spot on and particularly amusing. The book also includes some great photos.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who is retired, hopes to retire or just likes to laugh.
