Another completely gripping paranormal thriller from Danielle James, served up with a generous helping of steamy romance and mystery! The author will definitely keep you guessing , the characters are completely engaging and the book keeps up a steady pace throughout. Brea will capture your heart--she is no wimp but has no clue what is in store for her when Angel sets his sights on her! and did i mention VAMPIRES? Get your vampire fix here!

This is one of the most interesting love stories between a vampire and human I have read in a long time. You will find romance, action, suspense, sex, true friendship and the rewards of people working together. I nominate this as one of the feel good books of the year. Also I hope everyone that read the book pick up on the moral that's in this story!

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book. The romance between the main characters and even the supporting characters, the comedy, and the setting were very well written. I just wish the ending was a bit more detailed. All in all though, great book. Couldn't put it down.

There was some strange formatting going on in this book, several typos but I actually liked the story and the characters but if this author thinks that someone will pay $6.99 for this book they have truly lost it. I love the whole independent publishing thing that's happening now but even the big publishers have started to drop their prices and you (consumer) get a nice finished product. Now that I've finish my rant I would recommend this book for those who still love vampire romance but I personally would not pay more that $2...

I agree with all the other low star ratings. This story started out slow than it had a rushed ending, it took forever for the Hannah, Noah, and Nathaniel thing to get resolved. **Spoiler** The thing that really annoyed me about this story were the sex scenes, there was a lot of Nathaniel and Noah's cousin having sex. NONE of the guys got naked except for the girls (maybe?)...after the guys were all done having sex each guy was hiking their pants up and zipping them. COME ON!!!
Last, it bothered me that Nathaniel was readily able to give up Hannah to Noah after he caught them together. If this book is still free you have to read the ending to understand why I was bothered by the ending between Hannah and Nathaniel.
I'm not sure if I want to read anymore of the writers stories if the plots are all like this story....

One thing that I did like was how they became vampires, how they find their mates and how often or not they need to feed, this could be a great series if the writing wasn't all over the place and rushed.

I love to discover new to me established series so I don't have to wait for the next book. Out of the Dark, the first in the Forbidden Love series, was a great discovery for me.

Ms. James created an intriguing story world where vampires and werewolves and other supernatural beings live openly among humans. She made the vampire world her own by not following the traditional steak to the heart, vamp turns to dust same ole, same ole which I found refreshing.

I fell in love with the characters, Angel Knight is a rock star, vampire, and California clan leader and he's 6' 6" of sex on a stick! Brea is a feisty redhead that doesn't have a problem putting a vampire in his place. The supporting characters also had a good storyline in this book with a budding romance between Brea's best friend and Angel's head of security. We were introduced to Angel's "family" comprised of his band members and a few trusted humans, I cannot wait to read their stories too! So I am off to read the next in the series Into The Light.

I highly recommend Out of the Dark and give it 5 stars for a great storyline, well written characters, a good mix of romance, humor, and suspense.

Even though this is the first book in this series it wasn't available at the time I read 'Into the Light' which is the second book, although I didn't realise it at the time it wasn't until I'd got several pages in and started checking around. I contacted Danielle and she kindly sent me a copy I wouldn't normally read books out of order but once I'd started 'Into the Light' I couldn't put it down anyway 'Out of the Dark' is a great book with really good characters and humour it also has a good story and I can't wait for more in this series, I've read three books by this author and have enjoyed all of them.
Angel Knight is not only a world famous rock star he's also the leader of his clan of vampires as well as being most women's dream in this the first of the series he meets his mate Breanna and to keep her close and get to know her better he offers her a job planning a party for the other clan leaders in his home, while Angel and just about everyone else knows Brea is Angels mate but no one bothers to tell Brea.
On top of the romance there's a string of mysteries murders made to look like Angel is the killer, Angel forms an alliance with Detective Corbin to try and find the killer.
I really enjoyed this book and I loved the whole world Danie has created, the characters are fabulous I love all of them including Detective Corbin, I have a bit of a soft spot for him.

I received ARC copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

A unique take on vampires from Danielle James and Lisa Miller. I really enjoyed this book. The authors have built a unique world with very intriguing characters throughout the storyline. Angel Knight, a world famous rock star and leader of his clan of vampires, is ah-mazing, of course. Gorgeous, hunky, thoughtful, charismatic, everything any woman could ever want. His attraction to Breanna Hunt is immediate and undeniable and he soon realizes that Breanna is destined to be his mate.

Breanna is scared to death of vampires, werewolves and all other immortals that openly inhabit the world, but she puts on a brave front and deals with them all on a daily basis in her job as a waitress. There is a bit of contradiction here as Brea's best friend, Keelie, is a werewolf and this doesn't seem to alarm Brea at all.

As clan leader of the western U.S. Angel is hosting the year-end meeting for all of the other clan leaders at his home. He convinces Brea to spend a week at his home under the guise of hiring her as a party planner to help with the preparations for the gathering. He wants to get to know her better and to determine if she really is his mate. The problem is, he never tells Brea that he thinks she is his mate. Everyone knows she is, except for Brea. The underlying storyline here is that someone is out to kill Angel and take over his clan and now they will use Brea to get to Angel.

Enter human detective, Samuel Corbin. Humans and vampires have always tried to avoid each other but the detective is willing to team with Angel to solve a string of mysterious murders that have been made to look like Angel is the murderer. Angel and Detective Corbin form an alliance to solve these crimes and try to find out why the real killer is trying to make it look like Angel is committing the murders.

Brea puts together a fabulous party and falls, head over heels, in love with Angel - - but doesn't let him know that. They begin a steamy relationship that Brea knows will end when her job with Angel has been completed.

The author has built a unique paranormal world in this story, where vampires can be out in the daylight, not without cost, and humans know that such things as vampires, werewolves, shifters, and witches really do exist. It was a fun read with interesting characters and sub-plots all the way through. I will definitely be picking up the next book in the Forbidden Love series.

The story was interesting. But I wished it was written with more depth. Can't explain it well enough but as you read it, sometimes it reads like it's written by a teenager. Or a very young adult. On the other hand, this must be intended for that audience so I guess it fits.

The h was described early on as somewhat weak. But shows some spunk. Then immediately evolved into someone stubborn and almost inconsiderate. Then redeemed herself later on. So I guess that's ok.

The hero is almost perfect. Haha. In an alpha position supposedly as head of his clan but doesn't really show much of it. And he had several moments when he was ready to beg.

The other characters sounded interesting but were not given enough depth. I guess we will know about them in the next book in the series.

I may just continue reading this series only because of the other characters. I'd be interested to see what the author envisions them to be.

I got this under Kindle Unlimited so it's free. But for its actual sale price of 99 cents, it's worth it.

Although there were a few grammar issues and the transition between character's point of view could have been done a little better, I would still rate this book 5 stars. I read a lot of paranormal romance and finding a new and refreshing take is splendid. This author reminds me of Jeanine Frost mixed with a little Charleine Harris. You could help but fall in love with all of the characters and the HEA was well worth the pace of this book. I found myself wanting to scream at Brea and chastise Angel all at the same time. It was also nice to see a female character that was not instantly wanting to be taken care of by the Male lead. I found her character to be strong. Her friends in this book were very well written giving us a feel of her support system and how she became the person she was after moving to LA. I look forward to reading more of this author.

This was the first story I read of Danielle James and became addicted to "The Family". Brea is afraid of weres and vamps and ends up waiting table at her job filled by Angel Knight and his band.....The love story that evolves is marvelous and ALL the "guys" are terrific. As a visual reader, I know these characters and love every one. The trials Angel and Brea go through bring them much closer. When you read this, you will HAVE to read the rest of the series. They are all tremendous!!!!!!!!!

Loved this book! Angel is almost perfect in every way that matters and is easy to love. Brea is unsure of the vamps and werewolves that she encounters, but doesn't stop her from moving forward. They have a rocky start with getting to know each other, but picks up good towards the end. The writing was great with humor, romance and some hot scenes thrown in there.

Should've paid more attention to the negative reviews. Although I commend anyone who can write a full length book, I agree completely with the reviewer who said that it seemed as if it was written by a teenager. It started out great, and I wanted to love it. The world she imagines is so cool! But the characters were flat, with little emotional depth, and little dialogue. I really hate writing negative reviews, but I just really didn't like this book
