I enjoyed the story a lot. Most romance novels don't have much of a plot, but this one is well done except for the proofing. It was not well-proofed, and it always saddens me to see a potentially great book, not properly cleaned up before publishing. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

A very darling look at a different kind of Vampire life. The characters are kind, caring, sweet and a few are very nasty. They each have a personality that stands out as the story unfolds. This is an enjoyable start to this series of books.

I chose this book because it sounded interesting and I love Vampire stories and the price was right. I was extremely surprised. Very good reading although at times it does drag just a bit but once you get to know the characters the reading flows better. This book give a bit different twist to vampires and love story similar to Twilight. Definitely worth reading.

The Fateful series is an amazing read!!! I read both one and two in a weekend and am now rereading them while I wait for three to come out. It has a little bit of everything that you could ask for in a story. While it did take me a couple of chapters to really get into once I did I could not put it down!!! I'm addicted and can't wait for the third one. Everyone needs to at least give this series a shot!!!

Interesting take on the vampire legend. The story was fun and one I'm willing to pass on to youngsters in order to encourage them to read. Fantasy is a virtual vacation for the mind. This is one mental vacation I truly enjoyed. My thanks to the author.

I honestly am unsure why I would have gotten this book to read, it really isn't my type of book. However, after reading it I couldn't put it down and I am anxious to see the plot unfold in the other books. It's good.

I was a little skeptical at first that this would be a Twilight knock-off. But I enjoyed the twists and differences. The way I see it I will read all types of romantic books that all have the same plot just with different twists. This is what this book is. The writing is well done. I could not put the book down. I was on vacation at the time of reading and I was desperately looking for internet to download the next book "Fractured" to my kindle. If you like vampire romance, this is definitely an excellent book for you.

The Fateful series is a wonderfully written series...the characters are fully human and fully supernatural. The stories flow smoothly and leave you wanting more. Mrs. Schmidt weaves a beautiful tale full of love, action, suspense, and drama and paints the most beautiful pictures of some the world's most intriguing and fascinating creatures. Do yourself a favor and read this book and the next one and the third one, you will not be sorry!

First off, I liked the storyline, although I did see the similarities with Twilight. I believe this is listed as young adult, so I understand some restraint, but I don't think your average 13-16 year old would be anything but bored. The author absolutely beats you over the head with the main characters' virginal status. Yeah, I got it! They're virgins. But, I have to call BS on it. The main male character was supposed to have been born some time in the early 1800's, as the son of a Duke. Now, whether he was the heir, and a Marquess?, I really don't know, but I seriously don't believe the nobility let their males make it to age 23 as virgins. They either bought them whores, or just used their female house staff, but at any rate... I simply did not believe that part of the story. Now, let's talk about the French kissing. The main characters couldn't French kiss because that was going too far, but he could continually pull her into his lap and that was OK? It's been a while since I was that age, (wow, 19 and 23 and they can't French kiss), but if I recall correctly... Sitting in a guy's lap always erupted in far more than a French kiss did. :D

When i first read the words Jane Austen i thought "Id like this". Then i started reading and fell in love, with the characters, the places, and just the all around concept. Ethan is the perfect man and Danielle is so relateable. I haven't gotten around to reading the rest but its defiantly on my ToDo list..

I could not put this book down! The story, character, and plot will delightfully surprise you. The romance built steadily in a natural way. The editing -get this- was fantastic. I get really annoyed with all the poorly edited books popping up everywhere. I loved the setting as well. I'm an american who has visited London and this story felt genuine to the city's atmosphere and culture. That also gets extra brownie points for a job well done. For the price, this book was a steal. I cannot wait for more!

A little corny and very absorbed in the old fashioned world. A bit naïve, but a different twist on the vampire story. Danielle is a young college art student studying in England. She meets Ethan and finds a soul-mate, though this is no easy love story since he's a Vampire.

Awsome book! Im a die hard twilight fan who desperatly searching for something to equate to that book, and this by far was the best yet! Yes there are some similarities, but Danielle and Ethan give you something Bella and Edward cant, what a surprise ending! I hope the series is continued I couldnt put the book down and finished it the day I started!

I read this book several years ago and was delighted to hear that it is now available in audio. I really enjoyed the mix of fantasy elements with the current world and time, and the tight family relationships on both the vampire side and human side. The romance is sweet and clean, and the food sounds divine. The story definitely puts more attention on the romance, rather than the standard vampire violence. I also loved the unique direction this book takes on Vampire lore.

The voice narrator (Tristan Hunt) is fabulous. He has such a soothing/sexy voice that draws you into the story, and he gives the characters so much individual personality and emotion.

If you love clean romance with a touch of fantasy, give Fateful a try! I’m looking forward to hearing the next audio version in the series.

This is an okay coming of age teen vampire romance novel. No sexual scenes, very minor violence, but pretty good. I prefer stronger romance novel that are more graphic but this is good for young readers.

Couldn't get through much of this as the character was just a little too innocent for my tastes... She didn't seem "real" to me (having never met a freshman in college that was this naive- ie only wears dresses, wants a Victorian era romance, etc), especially combining the innocence with having a black belt- but she never actually works out. She just didn't feel like she had a good backbone to me. Lots of I'm scared, I want to hide sort of personality. I preference heroines with a stronger personality.

I originally picked up this book because of the great reviews. When I started reading it I found a lot of the typical vampire story similarities in fact, it reminded me a lot of the Twilight series however the writing was much, much better.

The story was interesting and the whole premise kept my attention pretty much all the way through but I just couldn't really get into the book. Since this is the first of three books it does leave the reader with questions at the end however I don't find myself really wanting to know what happens to these characters. Usually I read the entire series but I'm undecided if I'll purchase book two or leave the story where it ended.

This book mirrored Twilight in a lot of ways: only drinking the blood of animals, venom makes you a vamp, Carlyle type character, the "I'm so strong I might hurt you" and "I'm tempted by your scent", the sweet vampire breath, etc. etc. ...but I liked it! The book has more humor in it and the girl was way more spunky than Bella. I thought this story would have actually benefited from making references to twilight or vampires in the movies as a wink to how similar it is. Also, the ending could have used some polishing, there was a climax scene followed an epilogue with a bunch of wandering dialogue. I'll be interested to see what this author has done with the next book.

Although I found this book entertaining enough in the beginning, I stopped reading it about 1/3 through as there were just too many grammatical and spelling errors. The main characters were not developed enough for my liking and remained superficial, predictable and shallow. The writing seemed rushed and at times jumped from one thing to another without explanation. Needs complete re-editing.

Not a bad read. I personally have mixed feelings about a normally independent and strong young lady suddenly being totally dependent on hero for 100% protection. I still can't figure out the point of our heroine not being able to find her way anywhere but I'll roll with that. For a light "feel good" read where you are trying to escape I would recommend. For anything more than that I would not.

While I think Fateful was certainly a Twilight-like book it still had a unique aspect of the whole vampire world. I liked the main characters and the story was entertaining enough, though if I'm being honest, the first half of the book was so much like Twilight I had a hard time with it. As I said, there were different things presented in this book but it was just a bit close. Overlooking that issue, I still found that I enjoyed the last half of the story and I'll probably get the next book to see how the story unfolds. Overall it was a fun read and I liked it

From reading the other reviews I had high hopes for this book, I usually like a good paranormal romance. However this time i was disappointed. I am having a difficult time pinning down why i didn't like it and the closest i can come is that it felt like the author, despite having some decent story plot points that I found interesting, seemed to lack subtlety when it came to promoting her moral standards. I have no problem with a book, especially a young adult book, having some delicacy and circumspection when it comes to the physical sides of the romantic relationship. This time it felt like every few pages we were told again how they were not going to "update" their morals, to match the modern careless disregard for manners and propriety. That is fine, the hero is from a different time, and the heroine is looking for old world manners in a significant other, but i don't think it needs to be repeated so often. I was left feeling like i was blindsided with a morality tale. That being said, if you are a person who does like a story that focuses on morality, you may enjoy this book more than i did. The writing is decent, and the characterization seems to be OK. It did feel unfinished, or maybe it went to long beyond the climax so the reader was left expecting more to happen. Overall it was OK, but i was hoping for a lot more.

After reading all of the great reviews I couldn't buy this book fast enough. I'm not even half way through the story and I'm wondering if I'm reading the same book. The writing and dialog were very simple, leaving much to be desired. When I was reading it I kept wondering if it was written by somebody just getting out of middle school. It was that juvenile. Danielle as a main character has no depth to her at all. The chemistry between her and Ethan was not there either. I don't think I'll be buying the second book...I don't even know if I can finish this one...

The book was absolutely thrilling, enchanting, and kept my interest throughout the whole thing! As an author myself, I have to say I liked the author's techniques. The characters seemed to come to life right off the pages. It takes talent to make fictional creatures such as vampires seem realistic, and Cheri did a wonderful job! Congratulations, and keep writing!

Happy Reading,
Elizabeth Waldie
