Rocco's issues were too severe to make the relationship fully believable. The author tried to show that he likely picked up on male/female roles in Afghanistan and thus came off as a possessive person when others were around, but it wasn't in a sweet protective way, and it was never addressed.

For such a top notch group of warriors they were supposed to be, any reader can predict the problems about to happen from a mile away.

Spoilers ahead:

The pharmacy delivery was incredibly weak. After trying to convince us all their senses were on edge, they missed every obvious tip off.

The ending was, to me, far to unrealistic. First with the scene in the truck, that would never happen, this relationship wasn't full of lust it was more the male character dealing w/ his issues through sex. Then, for all of the problems we had to read about in the book, the way the issue of his son was ultimately resolved was an attempt to be sweet and give a happy ending but was incredibly unrealistic.

Won't be reading the rest of them, I felt no connection to any of the characters.

I would have given this story a higher rating but I had a couple of issues. It was a good plot, well written with enough suspense to keep you turning the pages. However, although I never thought of myself as prudish the sex scenes were way to explicit for my taste. I did not like the ending as it was much like a cliffhanger at the end of a Television series.

Intriguing story and fascinating romance. A beautiful hard working young women, seemingly alone in the world, trying to turn her ranch into her life's work. Her first 'stray' is sent by her alpha-male brother. Mandy soon learns that Rocco is no ordinary ranch hand. Rocco has issues. But the more we get to know him, the more we see the up-side of being "rode hard and put away wet"! After a series of unusual events brother Kit shows up with 8 more fine specimens - The Red Team. We grow to love these guys while they uncover the plot as it thickens. Meanwhile Rocco and Mandy can't get enough of each other. Who could blame them? I won't spoil with more details, but when the dust settles there's satisfaction with a twist.

Characters are well written with nuances that confirm their feelings and actions.
You'll want to own this one. Buy it - Read it. There's another one coming.

This is definitely a good read. The author is great at setting the scene and the mood. There are some leaps of faith and a lot of extra characters that just seem to disappear just when they are introduced. It's not your regular romance but take a chance one he book and the author.

New author for me. Will certainly read whole series. This book literally kept me spellbound. Could not put it down. I love military. Special forces. Covert operations, led by Alpha males stories & have to say this 1st book in this series is the best I have ever read! And I have read many!! The description of Rocco's war terrors is mesmerizing. Can't wait to start 2nd book in this series.

Being a Vet with PTSD, this author shocked me! She must've done some serious research before writing this book, it was perfect and so realistic! I love love love authors who take the time to research before writing, especially about medical conditions. Ok book overall was wonderful, it was hot without being overly dramatic. Seriously, you'll end up buying the series lol, it was a very good book.

I really, really, really.....liked this book! It's my first time reading this author and I can't wait to read the next in this series. Very well written. The story is great and makes real some of the trauma that soldiers suffering from PTSD go through. The romantic scenes are pretty steamy and the dangerous ones are very tense.

Elaine Levine is a wonderful writer. She has written a great book and I loved the characters and their storyline. I know this was a fictional story and fictional characters but we have to realize what are military has sacrificed for are freedom and our well being. Great book. Can't wait to read more about the characters. On to the next one.

If you enjoy an easy read with interesting characters, and a good story line, you'll enjoy this book and the Red Team series. This author does a good job of drawing the reader into Rocco's nightmares of his long tour of duty and turmoil he's feeling from them. Mandy has had a string of unexplained accidence while trying to get her therapeutic riding center built so her brother sends Rocco to check things out. This is where their adventure begins and it has some unexpected twists that makes it hard to put the book down.

Underneath all the EXPLICIT sex and swearing, there was a fairly good story. There a few times when I thought," These guys are experienced warriors and they are guarding against an attack and they just let someone waltz right up without checking them out, and staying with them while they were there?". I don't want to give away too much of the story, so (if you decide to read it) remember these words "Pharmacy Delivery" that's all the clues I'm going to give on that one. And the one where one of the other "Warriors- " Ty" is allowed to go by himself after he gets a phone call"? Yes, he told the others he was going, but really? Even I could smell that one wasn't a good idea. Where was HIS back-up? For a professional unit, it was kind of sloppy in a few places. I don't consider those actions are being on "High Alert". I also started losing my place when more and more fighters started showing up at the Ranch to help. It was harder to keep track of them, but I'm pretty sure each one of them will have their own stories in the days to come.

I read about a dozen books each month, primarily romantic suspense. While there are plenty out there that build on the wounded warrior theme, this story highlights the psychological wounds that can cripple our veterans and the incredible strength that it takes to overcome the fallout. Not only does she paint a compelling picture of the challenges the lead character faces, she matches him with a strong female with the background and experience needed to display the compassionate resolve to stand for him and up to him. The reactions of the townspeople are spot on...wanting to thank the veteran but afraid of the mental illness he displays.

All of that in a novel that is fast paced, vivid and compelling with the right amount of romance.

Ex-Red Team operative, Rocco has come home from Afghanistan with extreme PTSD. Mandy Fielding's brother sends him to Mandy's ranch to help her out and keep an eye on her Rocco knows he has too many demons to fall in love but Mandy is loving and patient and helps him heal. A heart-warming book.

Very emotional roller coaster ride. Rocco's recovering journey from his war life in Afghanistan back to civilian life is an eye opening experience for the reader with a true understanding of some of the traumas our American soldiers endure for country and citizens.

The beginning of the book took a little longer to get going, however once it did, the story line was completely worth the wait. The characters were completely believable and easy to follow and root for. I would definitely recommend it and I myself will probably read it again!!!

Holy Moly - I was flat-out gobsmacked by the intensity and emotional impact this one had on me by the end of the first chapter! The tears flowed. Elaine Levine has written an explosive military romantic suspense. This is a powerhouse completely overflowing with such courage, need and unbridled desire that it sometimes feels much too-close-to-the-real-thing.

After serving deeply undercover in Afghanistan for seven years, our hero Rocco Silas returns home a tortured, broken, and destroyed human being suffering from PTSD. He can't eat - he can't sleep - he can't remember - he can't escape the nightmares. His fear of being touched is on a whole other level of sadness brought about by events unimaginable to me. At times suicide creeps into his thoughts and seems to be his only answer.

Thank goodness, it is at this point that two lives intersect and Rocco meets Mandy Fielding, the step-sister of one of his team mates. Hope and salvation come packaged in a strong young woman, a trained physical therapist, who is filled to the brim with compassion and a giving spirit that runs towards fostering strays in need of help. When she looks into the empty and hollow eyes of Rocco Silas, she resolves to do whatever she can to help in his healing process and give him another chance at life.

As for the developing relationship between Rocco and Mandy, I can't possibly do it justice in my review. Suffice it to say that it is a thing of beauty. There are plenty of sparks, undeniable chemistry, tenderness, as well as differences of opinion. There are also some of the most unforgettable moments between these two characters that I've had the pleasure of reading in all my memories of visits to romanceland.

Midway into the story, Red Team operatives arrive on scene packaged in a variety of sexy, handsome, and rugged men, bringing along with them their own brand of humor. With their arrival, whether it's a bar room fight or against terrorist threats, the non-stop action is fueled and the battles begin. At this point several potential candidates step forward as possibilities for the starring role in the next installment of this amazing series.

In the end, there's unfinished business. One Red Team member has been shot, dumped and left for dead, while a rattlesnake slowly crawls up the leg of his pants. No! Hey Lady Author - you can't leave Ty like this. I was really-really starting to fall for the guy. Will he survive? Is there hope for a relationship? Sending up fervent prayers that the next book is scheduled for release sooner rather than later!

BRAVO! CHEERS!

A great glimpse into what our returning soldiers go thru with PTSD, loneliness, fear, & guilt all while trying to get their lives back normal. Rocco is a real hero in this story & so are the rest of the guys in this novel, but although different they all share a common bond. It's a story worth reading.

I was surprised at this action packed novel. Picked it by accident and quickly realized I had come across a writer who knew exactly how to make this a page turner. Don't think that this is a book for the female gender, enough action for the guys.

Totally submersed myself in the characters, their interaction with each other and the story line right from the book's beginning. Lots of action, wounded warrior to fall in love with and a woman who is unafraid to meet his challenges with him. Loved it!

No matter what: READ THIS BOOK! The characters will have you crying and falling in love; the plot will make you scream and cry; but you will not be able to put it down even to go to the bathroom. Elaine Levin has outdone herself and will leave you needing to finish the trilogy!

Loved this series. I've read them all and couldn't put them down. The plot line keeps you totally engrossed and wanting to read the continuation of the series. The characters are loveable and I like the way all of their lives are entwined with one another. I'm retired military and I think anyone with a military background will love these books, although that's not necessary.

Rocco has been undercover for years in Afghanistan until an explosion kills his wife and son. Now he's back in the United States with PTSD and horrible nightmares and blackout spells.

Not only that, but the evil that he was fighting is right in his neighborhood.

I thoroughly enjoyed Edge of Courage. Very interesting storyline... Strong but imperfect male struggling to find his way with the help of a woman who loves him. Lots of potential for great stories from the other characters introduced in this book. I can't wait to read other books about Ty, Kit and Kelan, Val - all of them. Thanks to Ms. Levine for a great story!

Some parts I really liked, others, not so much. Good characters, but some scenarios just didn't work for me. Somethings just seemed out of character and forced. I will keep reading the series to see what happens to the rest of the team.

Hot & Hot Enjoyed this book, happy to keep reading the series. I do have to explaign that the reality of terrorist was hard to handle. It was too believable> I admire the author for the writing style. The sex was HOT too. I disagree with any "bad" reviews, the story was good !

Wow! Good story with a lot of information about PTSD. Heartwarming story of loss and how love can heal. I gave it 4 stars because I just didn't feel the depth of love between Mandy and Rocco that I felt I should have. I look forward to reading about the other characters.

Really liked this book although I found it predictable and slow. Fell in love with the characters and can't wait to read more about them in the next books in this series. The writing was well crafted and the plot had an occasional twist or two. Good story.

I enjoyed this book.

I loved the characters and how Rocco suffered from PTSD. Mandy's character healed strays and difficult animals, so her nature was perfect for Rocco to start healing.

This was a very engaging story with excitement and suspense. I enjoyed every last page and can't wait for the next one.

I really enjoyed this story. It was well written and the characters were great. There were two things in the story that really bugged me, they were minor but got on my nerves. I won't list them because I don't want to make other readers notice them. If it hadn't been for these two things I would have given it five stars.

Excellent adventure novel. A very plausible scenario that given today's events may actually seem very real. It would be quite interesting to see these novels or other novels become a mini series on some television channel or on the store's channel!
