I really enjoyed both her writing and the plot. The romance between Conlon and Jess felt real. I only wish she fleshed out the technology aspect of her story a bit more. One of the better romance books I've been reading. Looking forward to reading Jack's story.

Jess Kingston was in an abusive relationship, he was her boyfriend, and she had enough, the last time he beat her, she was in the hospital for quite a bit of time, and he almost killed her. He just won't take no for an answer, and begins to stalk her, it became so bad that a young man, helped her once,a complete stranger that she never met, and he offered her a card to take self defense classes. Jess was determined to be able to help herself through this, so she took the strangers advice and called the security firm that offered the self defense classes, and made an appointment to take the classes.
Conlan James, was deployed overseas, to the Middle East, with his good friend, Lee, who died overseas, saving him, Colan always looked at it as bravery, doing something stupid, combined that he felt Lee was suicidal. All through high school, while Conlan and his other good friend, Jack, dated a lot of women, Lee stuck it through with one woman. While they were overseas together, only Conlan knew how much this girl put him through, when he received a letter from one of his buddies back home, telling him, that his girl from high school, announced her engagement in the papers. He thought his friend was mistaken, and he called his girl the first minute he had a chance sure enough it was the truth, she apparently didn't even feel as though Lee even deserved a Dear John letter. Due to the way Lee suffered, and also the way he seen many others be "victims" to the ways of women, he swore he would never get into a relationship, but he and Jack, didn't like one thing about the way some men treated women, he never liked a man to use his power, physical as well as mental, to abuse women. Conlan found many women attractive, but would never commit to one, for that could lead him to suffering the same fate as Lee.
Jack and Conlan opened a security company, helping abused women to defend themselves, Conlan gave Jess the card the day he helped her with her ex-boyfriend, Brett. He never thought that he would be the one to train her in self defense. Though he did find her more than attractive, he knew she wasn't the type of woman that would be happy with just a few nights of sex. He couldn't be the one that caused her pain, and he didn't want to get emotionally involved with Jess. Or did he?
This book pulled me in from the very beginning it has everything that a lover of suspense/romance novels could ever dream of, the author, Ella Sheridan, doesn't take the intelligence of the readers lightly, it truly is like none other book I have ever read. I love the way it takes it's twists and turns, and never disappoints.
I received this book at a release day event, and in return I offered to review it, this in no way reflects my review, this is honest review. I hope you enjoyed this book as much as I did! Happy Reading!

She has a crazy ex. He has a broken past. Neither expected to find the intensity they found in each other.

After being brutally attacked by her ex-boyfriend Jess just wants to move forward. She wants her life back. What she doesn’t want is her completely insane ex stalking her. But that’s exactly what she gets.

After seeing something that brightened his day, Conlan began going for coffee every Monday morning in hopes of seeing the one woman who’d unknowingly caught his attention. He went weeks without seeing her again, and then bam there she is. He’d blinked though and then she was gone, or at least he thought she was until he went out into the parking lot. What he found there brought out his possessive side and that in its own made him aware that he should stay far far away from her.

Conlan isn’t relationship material. He doesn’t want commitment. He tells her straight out. So why can’t he keep his mind, and occasionally hands, off her? Mixed signals can cause not only confusion, but hurt, especially when things go from hot to freezing cold in mere seconds.

Jess won’t let Conlan push her away though. She’s survived too much just to roll over and play dead and if she’s going to risk anything it’s going to be well worth the potential heartbreak. She’ll fight him for him until he has no choice but give into his own desires…her.

Together Jess and Conlan will face the enemy, her conniving ex who’ll stop at nothing to make her his again. And it isn’t pretty. There is definitely violence when it comes to her ex. Friendly warning: if you have issues reading about women getting abused then you may not want to read this.

Teach Me is chalked full of violence, suspense, sex, and romance. It never stops moving forward, which makes it very difficult to put down, each chapter leaving you ready for the next.

Downside – the end jumps forward a little and after all the detail throughout the book it fell flat for me. It almost seemed emotionless, which is weird because Jess was experiencing a lot of emotions.

My Favorite Laughable Moment: This was actually a tender moment, but I swear I couldn’t help but laugh… Two stokes…really? LOL

I have never read anything by Ella Sheridan before but that will change. She developed wonderful characters, a suspenseful story and some really sexy scenes.

Jess Kingston is recovering from being attacked by her ex-boyfriend, Brit. She is finally back to work after 8 weeks of recovery. Every Monday Jess and her best friend, Cristina always stopped at the local coffee shop for coffee and she was nervous being back out in the public, not knowing where Brit was. What she didn't realize was that the same handsome stranger she used to see before has also been enamoured with her. Conlan James is thrilled his brown haired, doe eyed beauty is back after 8 weeks. Because of things that happened in Con's past he realizes that he can't do anything about Jess and leaves. Jess and Cris leave as Cris walks her to her car. Cris says goodbye and leaves and guess who shows up! Brit! As Brit starts to get irritated, guess who shows up...Con! Brit leaves pissed. Con introduces himself and quickly deduces the situation. He offers her a business card for JCL Security and explains maybe she should take some self-defense classes. After more contact from Brit, Jess decides to sign up for classes, and Con ends up being her instructor. It is obvious these two have VERY strong chemistry. As Brit steps up his determination to make Jess his again, Jess and Con get closer and closer. Once Con gets the entire story of Brit he has full security on Jess. The story progresses with high and lows and kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not put this book down. I never expected what happened at the end to actually happen. Wow! Great story Ms. Sheridan. You have a new fan!

Teach Me is a sexy romantic suspense combining great characters, fast pacing, a woman in jeopardy and a sexy man intent on keeping her safe. Jess Kingston is a damsel in distress. After her wealthy and powerfully-connected boyfriend beats her up when she tries to break up with him, she tries to move on but her ex is not ready to let go. Conlan James is a co-owner of a private security firm and determined not to get involved in a relationship but can’t resist Jess and her situation.

He offers to teach Jess self-defense but the sexual tension between them simmers and boils over one night. This leads to her ex escalating his stalking and taking it to Conlan too. Conlan quickly finds himself in deep with Jess, emotionally and physically, and he vows to protect her at whatever the cost.

At first glance, the plot seems obvious but Ella has done a fantastic job developing her characters and staying true to them. Both characters are well rounded, with issues beyond the stalking. Conlan is a loner and has seen what bad situations and worse women can do. Jess is alone, an orphan of two distant parents. She’s been betrayed by someone who professed to love her and now is terrified for her life. Neither want this relationship and yet it’s the right thing for both of them, even if the timing seem off to them.

Ella Sheridan does an excellent job with pacing, keeping us on the edge of our seats but weaving in the romantic and suspense plot without awkwardness. In addition, the sexual tension and development of the relationship was hot and explosive.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book – the fast pace, the great characters, the excellent build of sexual tension. I received and arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What an emotionally charged story! Ella Sheridan’s writing pulls the reader in, grabbing her attention and not letting go!

Jess is coming out of an abusive relationship. Feeling vulnerable and scared, she meets Conlan who has been watching her for a while. As the owner of a security company that also teaches self-defense, he can’t help wanting to protect Jess. Both of them have their own issues and don’t want a relationship. But, as the story progresses, their passion overtakes them both and they can’t deny their feelings.

The intensity of the relationship between Jess and Conlan was so strong that I felt like sparks were flying out of my kindle! There were times where my heart broke for them, and other times where I wanted to yell and scream! I absolutely love a book that grips my attention and holds it until the end. Even though some of the story might be uncomfortable for some readers, the details needed to be told.

I have a serious book hangover from Teach Me. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who loves a romantic suspense.

I thought this book was really good. I normally try and stay away from books that have elements of domestic abuse in them because it makes my skin crawl but this story I think had just the right elements of what a good relationship is like and a very bad one without being too over the top. Even though Conlan is afraid of commitment he is more committed then he realizes which is always good to see in a hero. Also seeing Jess' strength even though she is frightened and has dealt with some really difficult times but is still willing to put herself out there is really great to read. I thought both characters were developed really well and I really felt what Jess was going through and feeling. The relationship between Conlan and Jess is very well done. There are moments that aren't perfect and issues they both have but that is what makes it feel more real. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a steamy romance that has elements of suspense and violence with a good ending.

So torn over this story. Jess is a survivor looking over her shoulder for the person who hurt her and got away with it. Conlan is ex-military, co-owner of a security company. Both have seen each other at a local coffee shop and fantasized about each other. I loved the story. I thought Ella Sheridan did a really good job of portraying both characters, there was lots of suspense and I couldn't put it down without wanting to find out what happened next. The story was fast paced and suspenseful, building until they couldn't keep their hands off each other. Both characters were hardened and trying not to fall for each other, but I couldn't stop hoping that they would get together. My challenge was with the crude, explicit descriptions of their encounters. I like just a little left to the imagination.

Oh how I loved this book! Seriously!!! Why have I never read anything written by Ella Sheridan! This book had everything that I love and was perfectly balanced. Not once did I find myself skimming over the words to hurry and get to the next good part. I was captivated from the first word to the last! Conlan and Jess were the perfect characters and their chemistry was combustable. One of the biggest things I loved about this book was how strong Jess was emotionally, even though she didn't think she was that strong at times. I really really hope Jack gets his own book soon! Ms. Sheridan, you've hooked me!

He is closed off due to things from his past. Jess breaks through his emotional walls. Insta love but it works for the fast pace of the story.

Wow! What a strong story and novel. Miss Ella sure is grey author. Her characters are so very strong. Some times the story was hard to take but was something you hear way to much in the news all the time. I loved the ending and really hope Jack has his own story soon. You just have to read it.

Two of my favorite genres included in one book...suspense and romance! Conlan & Jess a perfect match thrown together because of unfortunate circumstances. Conlan a broken man who thinks he can't love and Jess a woman full of love to give. I enjoyed their story and the obstacles they had to overcome. I don't think I released the breath I was holding until I read the last word! Their story has you rooting for them to make it in the end!

Jess needs help. Conlan is in the business of helping people. The heat Conlan puts off could burn Jess alive, but he puts up smoke screens, and plays by the rules - his rules. Until one day Jess's ex comes back and threatens to burn them all.

I know the subject matter could be sensitive for some, but I really liked this book. The situations were real and how things were handled were spot on. I was a little surprised at the end and with how graphic a specific scene got, but that only made me like the book more. I also really liked that Jess wasn't a cowering imbecile and didn't need Conlan to play the white knight.

I enjoyed the romance in this book between Jess and Conlan. It start with Conlan stepping between an intense, stalking encounter between Jess and her ex-boyfriend. While I really liked the relationship between the main characters, the portion with the ex-boyfriend gets pretty intense. If you can handle the violence, then I recommend this book.

Teach Me by Ella Sheridan was a fantastic book. I don't like to give away spoilers in my reviews, but I will say that the attraction between Jess and Brit was undeniable. I thought the characters were well-developed and felt empathy for both, yes even Brit ;)

I enjoyed this book .sure there were some same ol same ol in it, but for the most part I enjoyed the give and take between Conland and Jess until they figured things out. The terror of Brit ..I wish we knew more about how he became such a monster.! I'm sure it took a lot of work for Conland and Jess to work things out but I'm glad they did.

What a great story! Suspenseful and exciting, well written, deep dimensional characters, ......my reviews dont ever leave spoilers or regurgitated story line, my pet peeve) but one word of warning - allow time because you wont want to put this book down down.

Also, a very nice bomus, at the end of the book, theres a link to get book 2 for free, for signing up for the newsletter, which I JUST did.

I truly enjoyed this book! I'm sure I'll love the second one, also.

This novel is definitely a romantic suspense book! The twists, turns, surprises, action, and suspense are all present in this book. Conan and Jess are a couple that meet under not ideal circumstances but their love ? for each other is growing and survived under extreme conditions. This standalone novel is part of The Southern Nights series and it starts the series off with adventure and action. A good ? read.
