Georgie just keeps getting better and better. I love the historical aspect to each book in this series. The thing that keeps me coming back each time Ms. James releases a book, however, is the depth of her characters. I feel like I know Georgie, like she's an old friend. A best friend. She's intuitive without being unbelievable, curious but cautious, and genuinely wants to help people figure out each murder. Speaking of the murder, this book had me guessing until the very end. I loved the field research Georgie did and, as always, I'm a sucker for her evolving relationship with Frank. I did not see the clues about the fiancé coming and I'm so excited to read the next installment to see what happened! The only problem is that I want it now! =)

Annoyed at this point with the dead fiancé FBI neighbor connection. Dragging it out is annoying at this point. Characters still nice, putting recipes inline is not. Annoyed more than amused but still short and quick.

Georgie Tanner is at it again! In this third book of the Baker Street Cozy Mysteries, Georgie has volunteered to help at a benefit dinner where a sword that George Washington presented to the man who captured John Andre is displayed. When one of the diners turns up dead and the sword is stolen, Georgie (and her curiosity) are thrust right into the middle of the mystery.
This is a fun quick read. The mystery of the dead woman was good, but I wish there had been a little more added to the part with the missing sword. I always like the American history incorporated in this series, but that was minimal in this book partly due to it being a slow time for the B&B.
I like that Georgie and Frank's romance is heating up. And I'm waiting to learn more about the mystery that has overshadowed all of the books in the series: what happened to Georgie's ex-fiance? An important clue is given here (no spoilers).
Creme Brulee to Slay is another fun read, and I heartily recommend this series.

CeeCee James is just getting better and better. I love each new book, each new series more than the last one. I will refrain from spoilers. A sword, a murder and lots of clues equals a great afternoon read. One of my favorite aspects of James' work is her characters and their relationships, though. They are people you feel like you might know and that grounds the mysteries. The romantic relationships are a breath of fresh air, as well. James has a knack for writing feel-good romance that reads as realistic but still sucks you in and that's unusual. I love Georgie and Frank together. Although the mystery of her deceased fiancée is looming closer now with this installation and the unexpected connection she uncovers. And now I want the next book. lol I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for their new favorite.

Great edition to the Baker Street series. Once again we get to see Georgie Tanner overcome the loss from her past, develop her sleuthing skills, and build relationships with 3 other sub-characters. Her relationship with childhood best friend Frank, an ex-military and police officer, plus grandson of Cecelia the B&B owner her unofficial Aunt, and Oscar O'Neil the crotchety old widow neighbor and his dog Bear aka Peanut. These relationships are heartwarming and give a real feel to the books. As for the mystery, there were several twists and a couple red herrings...only problem is figuring out which is which! Strongly advise this series along with CeeCee's two other series...all three worth reading.

I am so glad that I found this heartwarming series. There were several minor typos but I can't wait for the next book to be published. To best enjoy this novel one should start with the first book to get a good background on Georgie , Cecilia and Frank. These are well written books with a mystery that unwinds with believable characters and plots.

Terrific. Really had me going for the wrong person as the killer. Terrific characters, a wonderful new romance blooming and a plot that will have you heading in the wrong direction. When a charity dinner ends in a death the question is who and what? How did they really die. Add in some madcap situations for a great, fast paced, quick read.

I purchased Creme Brulee to Slay by CeeCee James and this review was given freely.
A interesting mystery mix of enemies, frenemies, and cheaters balance with the sweetness of aunt Cecilia, the sweet romance of Georgie and Frank, and an interesting tidbit concerning Oscar's work years. Unfortunately, the delivery was altered by the editing.

I love this author's writing, its always entertaining and the mysteries never get dull or overused. Georgie can't help but be curious which always leads to trouble. There is more romance this time, which was great and a good ending with just a hint of something curious about her fiance who passed. I can't wait to find out!

I loved the progression with Georgie and Frank, and I can't wait to see how this develops! I always enjoy a bit of romance with my mystery, so I am eagerly looking forward to more here. The mystery was enjoyable as always, and the plot was paced well. Excited for book 4!

Interesting plot without offensive graphic sexual content or gross descriptions of murder victims. There is also no blasphemy, obscene or offensive language. It is a good book to curl up with for a quiet evening.

Georgie helps a caterer with a fancy dinner - one of the guests is found dead in the library. Did the food have anything to do with it?
As in any good cozy, Georgie is involved with the police detective & therefore has an inside scoop on the investigation. And ..... typical cozy fashion she gets involved over her head.
The story”s conclusions don’t always make sense but the smooth writing & bits of promised romance make it an overall enjoyable read.
