This is a book that will make anyone understand the love of all creatures, and the extent to which knowing and loving a creature, be it a pig , cow, dog, etc can enrich a person's experience with life, and with living, and with the people in one's life.

This is a fascinating book. The author's writing style is easy to read and fluid. This book should enlighten people about the intelligence of pigs. I found it difficult to put down! Easy to see why it was on the best seller list.

I bought this for my animal loving daughter and read it on her recommendation. This is a lovely true story. I was thoroughly entertained and enjoyed the author's style of writing. This is a great "feel-good" read.

I have given this book to several friends over the years since I read it in 2008. I never ate pork after reading this book; in fact I became a vegetarian soon afterwards. The way the author matter of factly describes Christopher Hogwood's intelligence, compassion, curiosity, friendliness, and non-judgmental treatment of everyone he meets is beautiful, and very affecting. We can all take a lesson in how to be better humans from Christopher Hogwood.

What a delightful tale of this intelligent, good humored pig and his charming people. Let's have many more books like this and put an end to the pig farming business! Who could eat bacon after reading this?

Enlightening if you can understand. No matter what, a real joy for me to read. One review said Christopher is a pig buddha. You might have to think about it for awhile, it is true and delightful. Montgomery writes the way I like. Refreshing.
Purchased only because a friend had it. Who would ever consider buying a book about a pig? The last xmas card picture of Christopher did it. There is humor, fun and innocent wisdom.

Calling this book "The Extraordinary Life of Christopher Hogwood" is kind of misleading. While there's an interesting pig in this story, and he's the main reason why I was drawn to reading it, the story is more about the author's life with some cute pig tales sprinkled in. She does a lot of self-promotion of her own work ("have you read my book about tigers?") and focuses more on her own life and less on the pig. I love animal stories, but this one wasn't really worth the time. I forced myself to finish it, but it was a let-down overall. If it had been more aptly prefaced as the author's autobiography, it would be more accurate, although then I probably wouldn't have bothered to read it in the first place because I was more interested in an unusual story about a pig.

The Good Good Pig is a precious portrait of family life with animal children, the chief child being a pig. The story offers insight into the psyche of a creature most often seen merely as food. Get to know Chris and you won't want to eat him. You just may love him as I did. It's a good good thing to have an ambassador for a species. Chris and his loving human parents bring a pig's pet life to national attention in an informative, interesting way.
Sy Montgomery is masterful in her presentation of life with this self-determined, emotional and downright funny porcine prince of a pig.
