Even though I did read the collected edition completely, and was satisfied by it, I wouldn't necessarily rate it as gripping (I spliced my time making through this with a couple of other books I finished before I finished this).

Had a pretty good in-book-mythology and interesting characters, but found some pivotal plot points tedious, especially when I found characters and the underlying plot heavily tying into the Christian mythos - I didn't so much mind borrowing from the Bible as much as I did the fact that by the end, the story all but declared the bible as canonical and questioning God as stupid (maybe it's just me, but after suffering the Narnia series, I like my fantasy books to not cross over into preaching)

What a tale! The first child born on Antarctica is special.. VERY special. He literally remembers the day he was born and every event after that. After a special birthday, Solomon's parents finally take him back to the place of his birth. Odd things start happening the second he gets there..

After his abduction and being left to survive by his own wits.. Solomon slowly evolves into the man he needs to be to lead a forgotten race back to the rest of the planet Earth.

A coming of age story.. where life lessons mean you need to survive on your own to go forward.. or die.. a failure.

Excellent plot and pace! Kudo's to the author.. for the flow of the story.. lots of mystery.. lots of thrills!

Just finished this, all except the bonus story at the end, which I will finish after writing this review. I generally give pretty thorough reviews, especially on books. Not this time. I honestly don't think a review detailing these stories does the reader any favors, since no matter what you expect, these books will surprise you.

I will say this: nothing predictable here. I can't recall being so engrossed in a book since I was a child. I read the entire thing through in about two and a half days (that's over 1000 pages). I even read the interview with the author at the end of the book, something I would never normally do. Which is why I know that he reads all his reviews, and why I titled mine as I did--he says in the interview that if you'd like to read more books set in Antarctica, you should mention it in the review, as it might help influence him to do some more. YES, PLEASE, and I couldn't have said it better than in the words of the main character (who was quoting one of my favorite phrases to use sarcastically from Oliver Twist).

I already have most of his other books, so I'm going to need something new to buy from him as soon as I finish those. That should give him a good week to get something new written and published. Heh. Hurry up or I'll have to break out whipsnap...

The Last Hunter – Descent is Book 1 of the Antarktos Saga by Jeremy Robinson. (I have only got through book one, but this book has the entire series!) This is a YA action/thriller based on Robinson’s Antarktos Rising novel (for more mature audiences).

If you have read any of Jeremy’s books, then you know the awesome flavor he deals out on the page. His books have big action with relatable characters who fight fantasy monsters, The monsters are grounded enough in some reality that they come out hardcore and never corny. The plots are the same. They are roller coaster rides but intelligently done so you are never taken out of the story.
This book, unlike his others, is not as gory, has no cussing, and no adult romance. Still, hits as hard as his other books. It never feels like it’s sanitized or that he’s pulling punches. You are right there and get all the “butt” kicking you expect from this style of book. I know he planed this as a YA book, but it reads as if it just happened to work out that way.
This is a great book to pick up, especially for Boys, who have run out of Hunger Games books. It’s also about a teen boy, who is a strong male character with out having to be sexiest or superficially macho. I love the idea here. He is trying to fight between being the savage killer and being a real person. If you are at all into thriller (for adults, kids, or teens) You should pick this up.

If the thing you liked about Hunger Games was the Twilight style romance and just endured the rest of it to find out what happened with that Bread Guy… then pick out a different book.

This collected edition is the Last Hunter individual novels rolled into one massive edition. I have read each of the 5 stories multiple times and have enjoyed them even more the 2nd time around. This is the story of Solomon "Ull" Vincent. A somewhat "normal" boy who is put into an unbelievable situation. The story takes you from utter despair and sadness, to anger, revenge and joy. It is one of the most depressing and sad stories I have ever read but it eventually takes you through all the different emotions culminating in one of the most awesome endings you will ever read. If you haven't read the last hunter series, go through some of the samples of the 5 books and read some of the reviews to get a feel for what this collected edition would give you. I think the price of the individual books was anywhere from 2.99 to 3.99 for a total of around $15 to $20 for the individual books. For 9.99, you would be getting a great deal on 5 books rolled into 1 collection.

I apologize if this sounds like a sales pitch but I loved these books and the author puts out some of the most entertaining/fun books I have ever read. This guy listens to his fans so a little fan support is well deserved. Anyhow, if you do take the chance on this edition, I hope you enjoy even half as much as I did.

Happy Reading.

Just finished reading one of the most beautiful, harsh, fast-paced stories about family, friends, mysteries. Unexpected surprises almost at every line. If you think you know what a good adventure book is ... unless you give a chance to immerse yourself in The Last Hunter ... I'm afraid you may never know. The values hidden beneath the gore, battles, blood, pain show a modern and entertaining way to reflect upon who we are and what we may become when we have faith, passion, hope and focus. Thanks Jeremy for such an imaginative creation that enriches human culture.

I just finished the entire Last Hunter Omnibus, and what an incredible series of books this was! I hope and pray that we get to see more of Solomon Ull Vincent, who is one of Jeremy Robinson's best in a long line of badasses!

I loved the artwork included in the collection, it made the read even better because you could see the characters youve fallen in love with. Such a great series!

What's better than reading The Last Hunter series several times over?

HAVING THEM ALL BOUND IN THE SAME BOOK!

Possibly one of the very best series that I've read in a long time is now all bound up and looking pretty in one full edition, with the added bonus of answered questions that the fans (myself included) asked of Jeremy about the series, 20 odd pages of original art, and a new Antarktos short story. It just doesn't get better than this!

While I am a huge fan of my Kindle, with the artwork alone I will be ordering this in hardcover so that I have something to keep (and, of course, seeing as I have the kindle edition I need never sully the pages of the hardcover. Win win!)

This is a one of a kind story, and you'd be mad to miss out!

Having just finished this brilliant series I now feel lost.

This series hooked me, completely drew me in, I'm not sure I remembered to eat or wash over the last week of reading.
I'm not going to give synopsis of the books, I can't, you HAVE to read them.
I'm an avid book reader and it's been a long time since a collection of books has taken over my life in the way these did, clock watching until I finished work so I could start reading again.
Wow pretty much sums it up :-)

This is nothing short of an epic adventure that starts with a young boy born on the continent of Antarctica. What ensues is a thrill ride of amazingly epic proportions that leave you breathlessly turning the page for more. Action, sci-fiction, fantasy, horror, young adult, thriller, romance - this book really covers all genres. Read it, you won't be sorry!!!

I read the books individually and did not have the advantage of being able to read from start to finish. I did find myself waiting for each new book. This series gave me the same trill of adventure I got as a kid reading Edgar Rice Boroughs. I recommend them for folks who like adventure with lots of twists and turns that weave in myth from different cultures. Much fun!

After reading this COLLECTED EDITION, I will never look at the Antarctic in the same way. There is life under the ice! At least in Jeremy Robinsons mind there is, and NOW I may believe him! A really great story that is classed as a Young Adult read, but will also be enjoyed by any Adult.
Looking forward to the NEXT adventure in Antarktos! Well done Jeremy!!

From the very first few chapters of The Last Hunter I was hooked. The story has an incredible flow that keeps you reading all the way to the end of the last book. One continuous incredible journey from the depths of Antarctica, to the top of its highest mountain. Can one boy make a difference??? Buy the book and find out, i guarantee you won"t regret it.

I read Antarktos Rising first, then started the saga. I kept Antarktos rising by my side so I could re-read it in the order the author suggested it would fall into the saga patter. Completely unnecessary! It flows seamlessly together, with the characters from the first being reintroduced by viewing it from Solomon (Ull) perspective. it had a good ending, but definitely leave room for further sequels. hope he writes more!

I am a huge fan of Jeremy Robinson. "Secondworld" was an excellent read.
This collection of five novels left me bored. The pace was way to slow for me. Yes, there were lots of chase scenes. So, someone was always running. That's not the pace I'm referring to though. LOL. It all become somewhat redundant after the first dozen or so times.
Still a fan, but not a big fan of The Last Hunter.

Jeremy Robinson is my favorite author. I troll the store pining away for him to release his new book. The Antarktos series is probably my favorite of anything he's written! Can't go wrong with any Jeremy Robinson books but this is a must read.

So....every god you have ever read about from ancient history has been hiding out at the South Pole waiting to reconquer the world. This is a great fantasy novel, fast-paced and well-written. Follow our hero as he, with the help of the world's militaries and a few of the friendler gods crush them all.
