This diet while not for everyone, works just fine for me, I have tried many different diets, like counting calories, but all of them where hard for me to stick with over a long period of time.. Unlike other diets this diet gets easier after a few days when your body adjust to not eating for a few hours every day & you do not feel like you are starving yourself. I have been able to lose 1- 2 pounds a week to get down to my natural weight. I also run & walk but running alone will not take off weight without some sort of diet. I also think that this is a more natural way to eat. I try to eat healthy for 90% of my meals. The way I use it is like this, I don't eat anything until 2:30 pm and then I eat healthy food on an off until 7:30 pm, then I stop eating until 2:30pm the next day.

i have found this approach to eating very enlightening. Been on the diet for about 3 weeks. I no longer feel sluggish in the first few hours of my day. No need for 5 cups of coffee any more. I work afternoons and nights. I wake at 11:30 eat at 3 stop eating at 8pm and go to bed at 4-5am. Now 6 hours of sleep is perfect for me. Lost a few pounds as well. There are hunger pangs but if i can work at a restaurant all day and stand it than it should be doable for those not in front of food all day. I would have to agree that this is a more natural diet than a 3 squares a day approach. Now there's a "fourth meal". Americans eat waaay too much. I see people drag themselves, along with their walkers, breathing machines and stuff themselves into a booth every day. Good for business but sometimes I just want to say STOP EATING so much.
Back in college I wrestled. During the season I would maybe eat 2 small meals during the day. Practice would begin with a 30 minute session of stair running sometimes we would carry a teamate half that time. Then would we begin actual wrestling practice. At night maybe a large meal. Add in studies a morning run all on a giant bowl of spaghetti. No fat on me back then either. The fast five seems very similar now.

Constant irrational hunger? Never full? Even when you restrict calories, does the fat cling to you for weeks? Have you failed over and over?
This book is THE diet for certain people. The reason is that limbic hunger is uncontrollable. Trust me I know. By fasting for 19 hours you finally have manageable somatic hunger. Also, you begin to burn fat as fuel as your insulin and other hormones get under control.
Be warned, it takes time to lose weight for two reasons. It'll take time to transition to this new lifestyle. And it's not a crash diet. You'll be consuming only slightly less calories than you are right now as your body slowly adjusts from limbic to somatic hunger and from insulin wackiness to insulin normalcy. (I know not very technical.) Plan on losing a pound a week after roughly two weeks of the diet.
Easy to read, concise and gentle on the weak willed, this book is very matter of fact. No hype, no fluff. It's not the answer for everyone, but it is THE answer for me.

Without exaggeration, this book has been one of the most influential books I have ever read. This diet improved my diet, health and life. My five hour window is in the morning from 8 am to 1 pm. People should try that if they can't hold out until the late afternoon.

Loved the book! Short and sweet---everything you need to get started. I've been following the guidelines for 3 days now. For me, this is a much more do-able way to do Intermittent Fasting. It's easy and feels wonderful and freeing!

The Birth to Five Book: Confident Childrearing Right from the Start
In this modern age where everyone wants quick solutions, this could be a dream diet. I found the information interesting and credible and believe this lifestyle could work for some; the author is quick to point out that it's not a diet for everyone. For myself, I had too many unanswered questions and would have benefited from a longer, more documented read. Even though the author is a medical doctor (retired), the book seems light on research. I want more "meat" to convince me before giving this plan a try.
I recommend, for the low price, you get a copy and read it for yourself. What do you have to lose? Either a little bit of money or a lot of weight!
