First in the Brazen erotic romance series set in Texas. The couple, er, threesome focus is on Jasmine Quinn and Zane and Seth Morgan on the Sweetwater Ranch.
My Take
This wasn't very good. It's more as if Banks was going through the motions and forgot that a love story should include a lot more emotion than was here. There were some lovely tense bits with Zane wanting Jaz and Seth thinking that made the two of them a couple and Jaz off-limits to him. Feeling outside. Then when Jaz propositions him, it's another set of emotions. When the brothers finally find her blood brother, that leads to yet more emotion. All of which would have created a great story if only Banks had gone somewhere with it. Instead it was all surface.
There is a bit in the story where we learn that Jaz is afraid of water in baths and swimming pools due to the incentive process her would-be pimp put her through; we also go through Jaz's form of therapy to rid herself of her fears.
The Story
This is it. She's reached her conclusion about where she wants her life to go. It's not a choice of Zane or Seth. It's Zane and Seth together. She knows they've shared a woman before why should it be so different if that woman is her?
This past year in Paris has helped Jaz mature and gain some perspective on irregular partnerships. Her skills as a photographer have grown and she's done some good work. And she is missing her men. Determined to force a confrontation on them and settle the question once and forever.
The Characters
Jasmine Quinn is sort of adopted and sort of a foster child for the Morgan brothers. They rescued her off the streets the night she attempted to proposition them in a bar. Upon bringing her home to their ranch, Zane and Seth ensured that she got her GED and attended college, pursued the photography that interested her. Now the brothers are conflicted. They both want her and neither believes she would be interested in a threesome. Worse, Seth still sees her as a child in his care.
Carmen is the brothers' housekeeper/chaperone/mother figure, hired on when they brought Jasmine home with them some six years earlier. Cody Quinn is her brother and has been looking for Jaz since he learned of their mother's death but got leave from his unit too late to find Jasmine.
J.T. is the sheriff and friends with the Morgans and Jaz. Kyle Richards and Toby March are also friends.
The Cover
The cover is quite patriotic in its distressed wooden sign flag, the cartoonish middle of two muscled men in tank tops, each with a tattooed bicep flanking a flirtatious woman in the middle, repeating the red, blue, and white theme song, and ending with the deep blue border at the bottom.
The title is accurate enough for Jasmine is quite Brazen in her pursuit of what she wants from the brothers.

Normally I love anything written by Maya Banks but there was just something with this one that didn't click with me. It had a rushed feeling to me. I loved the idea of the back story of Jasmine but I would have liked more details. I think the way she went about trying to get to both men was a little slutty and immature, especially considering that she "loves" both men. She is getting sexual with both men before even beginning to really explain whats going on. Zane accepted things way too easy and Seth was way too pigheaded. He came across as a jerk for most of the book. At the end he redeemed himself somewhat but he just didn't feel genuine to me. When the brother was thrown in at the end it seemed a little forced as well and things just moved way to fast.
This would have made a good second book, or maybe fleshed out a good second and third book. It needed something to set everything up and give context.

Jasmine is returning home after a year abroad. Her time in Paris expanded her horizons in more ways than she could ever have anticipated, and she is now ready to return home to the two men she has long loved but thought she could never have. You see, she loves both of the Morgan brothers, but could never have chosen between Seth and Zane. Now she knows she just might not have to. The problem will be persuading the two men - not to mention convincing them to see her as a woman instead of the child they first met all those years ago... But Jaz just may be Brazen enough to do it!
If you were to ask me to recommend a great author of ménage romance, Maya Banks would be at the top of my list. Heck, she is at the top of my list of romantic authors, actually. But back to the ménage. LOL Banks has a knack not only for writing some pretty intense M/F/M love scenes, but for delivering compelling reasons for the ménage relationships. Rarely are her trios simply a fling; they almost always end up together for the long haul, with the heroine legally married to one of the men but bound to both (or all, in the case of Colters' Woman.)
Jasmine is a great match for the two Morgan brothers - sassy and strong-willed with a determination to match their stubbornness and overpower their reluctance. Of course, it just might be their deep-rooted love for her that helps her case just a bit... J Jasmine pulls out all the stops to seduce the men she needs in her life, and demands all or nothing.
Seth and Zane are enough to make any woman's knees wobbly. A couple of honest to goodness cowboys, they bear all the traits you'd expect in a sexy alpha male hero - nobility, strength, tenderness, possessiveness, and an ability to love to the depths of their souls. It is easy to empathize with why both men fight their desire for Jaz, but oh boy is it hot when they finally start to lose that battle!!!
Brazen has it all - enough titillation to heat you all the way through even on the coldest winter night, and so much love that you know you'll never feel cold again if you could just be in Jaz's shoes. If you crave wonderfully spicy romances with a ménage theme, you will want to buy your copy of Maya Banks' Brazen tonight!

A year ago Jasmine `Jaz' Quinn left Texas for Paris in the hopes that she'd find a way to get over her feelings for Seth and Zane Morgan. It didn't work, if anything her love for the two men has just grown stronger over the time she's been away. Thanks to her friend Cherisse, Jaz has come to realize that a polyamorous relationship could work - if she can convince both men to love her as much as she loves them.
Seth and Zane Morgan have done their best to view Jaz as a little sister but there's no doubt that they share in a desire for the little minx. What neither of them anticipated was Jazz's returning from Paris with a new seductiveness about her and obvious determination to entice both of them to forgo their good intentions and give into the emotional and physical pull they feel for her.
From the moment the plane lands in Texas it's obvious that nothing is ever going to be the same. There's a heightened sense of awareness between Jaz, Seth and Zane that hadn't been present before. Of course the fact that Jaz launches herself into Zane's arms and follows it up with a lip lock leaving no doubt about her desires. Unfortunately while Zane doesn't require a whole lot of convincing to see her as a desirable young woman, Seth is going to be quite a bit more difficult to persuade to give up the `big brother' role. While Jaz goes about seducing each of the brothers individually, tensions build between the men. Seth is becoming increasingly jealous of Jaz and Zane's closeness and Zane is battling is own confusion over his desire for Jaz.
Jaz soon realizes that her plans to seduce Seth and Zane are causing major problems between the men she loves. She's going to have to be honest and tell the men exactly what she wants but then she learns that Sean is venomously opposed to the idea of sharing her with his brother. For Jaz it's an all or nothing situation and she's willing to do whatever she has to in order to garner their attention. She loves them both equally and being forced to choose between them isn't an option. Will she be able to convince him that the three of them could be very happy together?
Maya Banks presents readers with another of her powerfully written menage stories which will have them riveted to the pages. In addition to the exciting aspects of the relationship between Jaz, Sean and Zane there's a shocking story as to how Jaz originally came to live with Sean and Zane which I found captivating. As with every Maya Banks book I've read the characters are strong individuals with problems and quirks that make them seem very real. For a smokin' hot storyline you won't be able to put down pick up a copy of BRAZEN - you won't be sorry you did.

betsy strauss
For the last year, Jasmine has been living in Paris. She decides she is ready to come home and calls the two men that mean the most to her: Seth and Zane Morgan. Years ago Seth and Zane rescued Jasmine and took her into their home, thus saving her from a life of drudgery and prostitution. Neither man has ever looked at her as anything but a younger sibling. That is going to change if Jasmine has her way. She wants them to see her as the woman she has become and realize that the young girl they raised and protected is now grown up and knows what she wants - which just happens to be both Seth and Zane in her life, in her bed, forever.
Seth and Zane have spent the last year missing the one person in their lives that they both love. The time has passed slowly and is almost unbearable until Jaz calls and asks to come home. Neither man wants to admit that they suddenly see their Jasmine in a new and sensual light. When she left for Paris she was an almost waiflike, innocent girl, she returned as a beautiful woman who entices them at every turn. While each man wants Jasmine, it is going to take a lot of convincing for them to agree to what she proposes. Seth and Zane do not want to give Jasmine up, but they are unsure if they can share - especially Seth and it seems that Jasmine is not willing to settle for less.
Like fine chocolate and great coffee, Brazen simply whisked me away to Texas and the ranch of Seth and Zane Morgan. I watched Jasmine as she took the biggest chance of her life and held my breath in anticipation of Seth and Zane's reactions. Out of the two brothers, Zane was more laid back accepted things easier than Seth. My love for Zane's character was almost instantaneous and held fast the entire book. Seth, in true older sibling style, took a bit more convincing and seemed a tad more stubborn. He often times didn't think before he spoke and in one instance I wanted to reach into the pages and grab him by the neck and make him listen to what he was saying to both his brother and Jasmine. In his defense, however, when he made his decision, his true character shined. He was thoughtful, loving, and quite the charmer. As for Jasmine, she had more guts than ten men and I found her love of Seth and Zane refreshing, while it couldn't be termed 'innocent' it was almost angelic in a sense that it was real, true, and unconditional.
I could not put Brazen down and have no choice but to highly and joyfully recommend it for this month. Maya Banks is on a roll and I, for one, think that she deserves every great thing that is coming her way. Run, don't walk to Samhain and purchase Brazen. It is truly an outstanding read.

And Maya so0o0o0o0o0 gave me what I wanted!! Words don't describe how excellent this book was. I can try, but it means nothing standing next to the real thing that is this book. I am still trying to come down off of my high after reading this book, and reading Colters' Woman 2 days after didn't help at aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall! This was my first "non Zane" adult book, and I love Zane, but I have to say, Maya, Maya, Maya, you have won a new fan. I loved the way the characters interacted with each other, wanting to protect Jaz, but also wanting her themselves. When Jaz gets driven home drunk by Zane----------I had to read that 8x!!!!! No coincidence my favorite character was ZANE, just like one of my favorite authors. I must say, Maya has one herself a new DEVOTED, devoted, devoted fan. Don't read this book at work or on the train, ppl WILL stare at you like they did to me on my breaks and on my ride home, b/c I was cheesing and giggling like a motha!!! Maya took my mind to places I don't think any author has with her words. Excellent, excellent story line. Ya, it's smut, BUT YOU CAN SEE THAT FROM THE COVER. The book cover is kind of misleading, but in a good way. Hot! Hot! Hot! I may have to buy a new Brazen next year from reading it so much THIS year!

Five amazing stars!!!!!
I loved this book!!!!!
Every book i read from Maya blows my mind! The characters are always so relatable, and by the time you get to the end of the first chapter you already feel like you've known them forever.
She is a sweet character, and they are amazing guys too, zane took my heart though, he always accepted her, i would take him in a heartbeat.

Normally I love Ms. Banks, but this story left me a little annoyed. Jasmine moves to Paris because she cant decide what to do because she love Seth and Zane both and she cant choose. She comes home to convince them to both love her like she does them. Seth very gruff loves Jasmine but doesn't think he can share the women he loves with his brother Zane. I just couldn't get into this story with Jasmine going back and forth between the two brothers even getting them to fight over her. Just felt her to be very immature and selfish really only thinking about her own wants and desires. Just me but I also like it better when in a threesome relationship that there is one the girl likes more and the third is along for a fun ride and them not all three living happily ever after, but thats just me.

I purchased this book because it was recommended and I wanted a little menage. Well thats all I got, was a little. I was so dissapointed! Jaz altered between brazen and confused, crying in dark trauma then demanding that the brothers see her as a woman. This story had emotion but lacked the fire I was looking for. Even the Morgan brothers, who you definetly want to sink into go back and forth like its a big moral dilemma - they have shared lovers before. Alot of potential but not much delivery - foreplay but not a satisfying climax. Don't waste your money - I'm just glad I didn't pay full price for this mess.

I have to say that after reading Colters' Woman by Maya Banks I was on the hunt for her other books. Brazen was fantastic as well. Ms. Banks has the ability to create the men I would love to find, which is probably why I like her books so much. I have been reading romance novels and erotic novels for years, and I believe that Ms. Banks writes some of the best erotic novels I've read.

I enjoy reading Maya Banks. She has a great variety to her stories. Some authors, you read the first and the twentieth has exactly the same feel. This is one of those books that you'd bookmark the parts for your man to read to you. Then relax and enjoy what follows.

I have read several of Maya Banks novels, some pretty good, others not so good. this one is in the "not so good " category. Maybe I am just naive, but this book was just not believable . The main character has been in paris for a year, comes home, and the two brothers are just waiting for her?? no girlfriends or relationships for a year??

so i was so disappointed in this one
the lead female character just was not up to her usual standards
it read like a filler story
like something to "fill" the space between good books
and it really stinks because i waited so long for it

Please RateBrazen (Brazen & Reckless Duo Book 1)
CHAPTER 1 AND CHAPTER 3 WERE THE EXACT SAME. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET A REPLACEMEMENT. THE RETURN POLICY DID NOT WORK FOR ME.
