Scotland, 1443, 15th century
America, 2014, 21st century

Sky Elizabeth Mackintosh, the eldest daughter of the Laird of Clan MacKintosh and Earl of Fife of Loch Moigh. She has traces of fae blood and fae powers where she can feel what other people are feeling can tell a lie to the truth As all he women in her family and line have these fae power though in different strains of it as all their powers differ. Sky Elizabeth, has arrived at the man she has been betrothed to since birth, feels nothing for it's an arranged marriage not unusual for this time period especially for the nobility. The marriage is for financial gain and lands which will become her husband's once they are wed, Sky would rather stay at Loch Moigh on her families lands forever to become a healer or a weaver and remain unwed as she wants no bairns ever! She feels her gifts are both a blessing and a curse as they have to keep their powers secret and hidden in these difficult times. For women have little choices as men make all the decisions and could be burned for witchery or sorcery if the fae powers in The Macintosh women were ever found out! This is the main reason she has no desire to deliver children into this world with such a heavy burden to be dealt with.

Still feeling unsettled as she arrived at her betrothed home, Sir Oliver of clan Erskine at Kildummy Castle, and then is horrified to learn on a conversation she eavesdrops on between her betrothed, Oliver and his lover his future plans to murder her after they have been married for a year! His evil plan to murder and manipulate Sky just for her wealth and land has her so terrorized by what she heard Sky sneaks to find her father and brother on horseback! Riding for her life on her horse at breakneck speed, fearing they know she was listening to Oliver's evil plan, Sky is thrown from her horse and is thrown right into a time portal, which lands her in the lap of a gorgeous blonde Knight, in the middle of a jousting tournament! Except one thing - Sky is now in 21st century! New York, in the year 2014 and the middle of a medieval festival!

Struan Sutherland, her Knight knows exactly what Sky Elizabeth just experienced and why she is so frightened! This so called Knight, Struan, ironically is also a time traveler, he too came to the future ten years prior at the young age of fourteen. Struan was in the middle of a battle that killed his sire, would of killed him too if he hadn't jumped in the portal! This scares him to death as he feels this is some type of omen telling him he's been living on borrowed time?

Staring at this beautiful armful stirs all kinds of emotions and memories , so he brings her to his foster family, who adopted him all those years ago. Braun is attracted to her instantly, took Sky in though what he feels for her is anything but sisterly! Yet when he finds out she is an Earls daughter all those old feelings of bitterness, pique, animosity and envy cone flying back. All due to being born in the wrong side of the blanket the bastard son of the Earl of Sutherland! The brings back his tortured childhood memories in full force and how half brothers and sires wife had bullied him and treated him like scum!

He knows in this time it's the perfect life for him as he has a fine black smith business owns land and has a decent bank account. Nobility doesn't even exist in America plus in this time no one cares if you are legitimate or not, as no one labels you by your birth. He knows in the past he will only be seen as the bastard son of an Earl? He will never be good enough to touch Sky, a legitimate Earl's daughter! Struan won't be permitted anywhere near her, definitely will never be allowed to court his precious princess as he affectionally call's Sky!

Sky knows if she does not return home it will cause bloodshed and a clan war and besides missing her kin. She also does not want to leave Struan since opening her heart to him. Yet she does not want him to leave his wonderful life in the 21st century, knowing how dangerous the past can be. Plus the fact Struan is keeping a secret from Sky she is not aware of and either way someone is going to end with a broken heart!

Can Sky's chivalrous blond knight turn his back on his Princess? Can Struan leave his loving 21st century foster family, the family he had always wished and dreamed about in the 14th century but never had? Plus he promised The Gordon's his foster family who took him and have loved treated him like a blood son for the past decade that he would never leave! Talk about being between a rock and a hard place, what will Struan choose? Could it be possible that both Sky and Struan will end up with their young tender hearts destroyed broken to pieces? What truly devastating and difficult decisions Sky and Struan need to make! To find the answers and more I recommend you read this magnificent and astounding read.

Wow! Wow Wow! Feuding Clans, missing Laird's daughter and heiress, time portals, landing in gorgeous Scots lap, racing against time to prevent bloodshed! Star crossed lovers that readers will root and cheer they accomplish a happily-ever-after!

As Barbara Longley does it again in her fourth novel of her wonderful best selling Loch Moigh series! Another unforgettable shelf keeper that had me glued to my seat, I read in a day as I simply could not put this book down!

Although this was probably my least favorite of this series, it was still a good read. This book is about Sky and her adventures with Struan. It had the same romance, suspense and humor that the other books had, but it fell a little flat for me. The banter between the characters was witty and there were a few funny exchanges but not as funny as book 3, in my opinion. This isn't a comedy, by any means, but some of the dialogue and thoughts of the characters came across as a bit funny at times, that's all.

Since this is the last book of the series, I hoped the end would kind of give a recap of the characters. I know it's a work of fiction, but it would have been interesting to see what happened to Malcom, Lady True, Robley, Erin, Hunter and Megan. Plus, did Sky and Struan ever travel back to the 1400's? One will never know.

I enjoyed this series and if you like time travel, you probably will too.

Sky Elizabeth was tired of travel. She was on her way to Kildrummy Castle which would soon be her home as she was engaged to to Sir Oliver of clan Erskine. But Elizabeth did not want Oliver or Oliver her. It was only duty that made Sky Elizabeth go forward as she would be lonely in a place of strangers. Sky’s younger sister Helen was with her. Helen and Sky had a little fae blood. Sky would rather be a midwife and a healer like their cousin Erin and their mother. A husband had to give his wife to be a healer. Oliver showed Sky no warmth when Sky arrived but Sky could see and feel his warmth and desire for a certain lady Alice when Sky asked about her. When something threatened their clan Sky as well as her mother had visions. Her mother sensed something was in the air. But didn’t know quiet what it was. Next to healing Sky’s favorite pastimes were: sewing, beading, and embroidery. Sky overheard Sir Oliver's Plan to kill her one year after they were married to be with Alice.as Sir Oliver was marrying sky for financial gain and land. Sky flees and finds she had traveled through time to the future to a Medieval Fair in N Y at the present time and Sky was lands in a knight’s lap during a jousting match. . There she meets Straun who had traveled through time a while ago. Straun was fourteen when he arrived ten years ago. Straun and Sky are attracted to each other but are fighting the attraction.Straun had a foster family -the Gordan’s who took him in and he told them he would never leave. Yet he also wanted Sky but in the past he was the illegitimate son of an Earl and that had mattered then and he would not be allowed near Sky. In the present it no longer mattered.
I really enjoyed this book even if it involved time travel- which I usually don’t like very much. This story has: action, plans of murder, unwanted engagement, missing heiress, time portals, racing to prevent bloodshed, star crossed lovers, feuding clans, family and so much more. I loved Sky’s determination to get away from Sir Oliver once overhearing his devious plan. I liked the plot and loved the characters. I loved the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

The Highlander's Vow ??? Written by Barbara Longley

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review. I realize I was coming in on book 4 of this series but this book was a full story even though I had not read the previous ones.

I am an avid reader of time travel books and highlanders. After saying that, I did enjoy the story of Sky And Straun. But the notion of time traveling back and forth was a bit hard to swallow. Being able to reach the same time and place was another reach.

I did enjoy the love between the two characters each carrying their own baggage. Sky with the loyalty to her family and Straun with his heritage as a bastard son of an Earl.

All in all I did like the novel but not one of my favorites.

I have a passion for time-travel romances and this book did not disappoint! It was such a sweet and very romantic story. I love the gorgeous setting and the strong characters. After reading this story, I'm going to buy the rest of the series because I want to revisit that world again. This book was a quick and easy read that I devoured while sipping coffee. I recommend this book not only to fans of Outlander but also to those who would like to spend a couple of hours of their time immersed in a charming love story.

The story of Sky and Struan was an excellent adventure through time. I hope it is not the conclusion of the series as it has been very enjoyable. The only plot point I’ve missed is that no one has gone back to Lady True’s grandmother/cousins to check on them. The characters have been all over time now, but haven’t thought to give them a call.

I highly recommend the Highlander's Vow for any historical romance fan. The narration takes the reader right into the wonderful world of Loch Moigh, filled with rich characters and heart felt emotion. It’s time travel with a twist, and chemistry from the budding romance flourishes through the pages as the main characters develop a strong bond as they go through their trials and tribulations together. The story pulls the reader in immediately, make it easy to escape through this fast read. The dialect and verbiage is spot on, making it easy to imagine the story and characters from their perspective times. I started reading the Loch Moigh books out of order, but reading one makes it impossible not to want to dig into the whole series because it was such a delight to read. * Received book from author at a book signing event

Barbara Longley's tales of Loch Moigh were so mesmerizing. I have read all 4 and want more. The descriptions of the land and the people make me feel as if I have been there. They stirred the Scottish blood in my veins.
Barbara, if you have any more inside you, please feel free to release them. I, for one, would be anxious to read them.

I just finished book 4 of this series. Wonderfully written. Drama, comedy and adventure. These books catch your attention and hold it. Finish one book and you won't want to wait to read the next. Barbara Longley is now in my list of favorite authors like Johanna Lyndsey, Nora Roberts, Fern Michael's and a few others.

Though each book was the same; names and characters and their time traveling being different, each book in it's own right was exciting and I liked the way everything played out. Thank you, Ms Longley!

Follow up to several previous books about related characters in the past and present day, it had adventure, intrigue, romance, and some major decisions for the main characters about choosing between their own time period and the person they had found to love. I enjoyed it, as I did the three previous books.

A good read. Not as believable as other time travel romance novels. Lol. Something about the characteristics of Strain, the male main character was confusing. He didn't fit with Sky Elizabeth and lots of talking about feelings. Also the books before this one were Wonderful. Otherwise I would recommend this book.

If you like Historical Highlands Romance combined with Time Travel, you'll love this series. The novels are intertwined over the years with the same family groups. I'm hoping that Barbara Longley will continue the series and look forward to the next book and wonder who will time travel next.

There is none of mystery, humor, and /or suspense found in the previous books on this series. I felt as if I was just skating over thin ice. The H and H were not fully developed. The Oliver character was flat.

I chose this rating because I felt that this story was Not as well written as her previous books. Too much left up in the air.
No real substance. I thought the main male character was too hot headed , spoiled, and rude to the girl. And the girl from the past, well she didn't seem very impressed by all the technology, food, etc of the future had. She just took everything in stride. No impressions as to what she was seeing. And her father scolding them for not having a chaperone while they were trying to avoid the Erskines. They had just come thru time travel, where did he think they could get a chaperone? And the mother never came down to meet another time traveler from the future. There should have been much more interaction at least for another day with her family. And where did Conner and Katherine come through? I was curious as to what happened to them and when they showed up at their daughter"s home. I just felt like this story didn't have much substance.
